Listen to your iPod® and keep it charged using your Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep factory stereo. Just connect iSimple's iSCH73 interface to the back of your factory stereo via the included cable, then plug in your iPod and go. The interface lets you control the music with your radio buttons — even with your steering wheel controls if you have them.

If you prefer, you can use the iPod's Click Wheel instead of the radio buttons. You won't have to worry about sound quality in either case — the wired connection ensures the best possible fidelity from your music. The iPod interface will even charge your iPod while it's plugged in. This adapter kit works with all dockable iPods, including the iPhone®.

iSimple also includes a stereo RCA auxiliary input adapter cable, so you can add another source like a Dock & Play satellite radio or another brand of MP3 player. Warranty: 1 year.

One I figured out how to get it configured, it worked fine.

Pros: Great sound, recharging is automatic, and controls work on steering wheel.

Cons: Instructions were horribly lacking; and I couldn't find anything better on online.

iSimple iPod® Adapter for 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup

Mark M. from Texas on 3/31/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the iSimple iPod® Adapter for Chrysler for my 2008 Dodge Ram 1500. I'm using it with my iPhone 5s. If you have an Apple product with the lighting plug you will also need the Apple's 32 pin to lighting plug adapter since this unit has the older 32 pin plug of the iPhone 4 and previous ipods. I tried other brands 32 pin to lighting plug adapters, but only the Apple product worked for me. The iSimple iPod® Adapter for Chrysler is a great product. It installs easily, and the wires on the adapter are generous enough to give you multiple options for mounting. I put the adapter behind the dash ran the cable under the carpet and have it coming out under the seat. The sound quality is same as when playing a CD and it charges your iPhone/iPod. You can select the unit and also skip songs forward or backward using the stereo or steering wheel controls. It displays as a DVD player, but doesn't display any song or file information. The DVD mode didn't display on my stereo before the unit was installed because I didn't have the entertainment system. The unit includes RCA plugs for an auxiliary input so I used an iSimple IS335 auxiliary input adapter to add a 3.5mm auxiliary input jack to my dash for use with other devices or mp3 players. The unit toggles between the iPhone and the auxiliary input every other cycle; both are displayed as the DVD player on the stereo. I'm very glad I purchased this as it is a major upgrade for my factory stereo.

Pros: Easy install, plays great, charges iPhone/iPod, steering wheel controls work with it.

Cons: No song or playlist information on stereo display.

this product is awesome. Easy to install. It just plugs right into the back of the factory radio. I would recommend this for any person.

Pros: Easy to install and very easy to use. Just plug in and play.

Cons: No display of what's playin on the radio. But not a big deal.

Easy install, works flawlessly in 2006 Jeep Commander. Although the instructions say it is incompatible, this works with the iPhone 5s over USB, don't forget to get a 30-pin to Lightning adapter!

Pros: Great improvement to factory stereo, satellite radio still operable, use 30-pin or 3.5mm connection interchangeably, steering wheel controls work

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

this is a really easy to install product and a great alternative to spending big money on an expensive head unit and other accessories. it took me about a half an hour to install but that includes me ripping the carpet up to route my ipod cord discreatly so it would exit below the seats. I would turn the gains up a hair but right out of the box on half way up it sounds decent. I have this on my 2007 dodge ram Laramie 3500 with a 7 speaker system without the navigation

Pros: easy to install. decent sound quality. great price

Cons: plug was a little reluctant to plug into the radio. and the steering wheel controls buttons switched sides to station changer and output changer are switched but not to big a deal

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I Simple ISCH73 was easy to install. The instruction were sufficient if you have a reasonable comfort level doing these things, though not exceptional if you have no clue. Installation took maybe 30 mins and it worked right away for my iPhone 5. Be sure to have an adapter if you have an iPhone 5 because the kit comes with the iPhone 4 and earlier connector. Music plays flawlessly and automatically on the DVD output. I wish I had done this years ago.

Pros: Easy to install NOT an FM modulator Flawless sound Charges the iPhone

Cons: Only minor criticisms (that might be addressable??) Does not show the music info on the radio display Does not broadcast voice over speakers for hands free telephone conversations

Good Product - New Work-Around

TedC from Chicago on 8/6/2012

2006 Dodge Durango
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought a similar product (different brand) for my GM Escalade and liked it so much I bought this one for my son's 2006 Durango. His Durango is equipped with SAT Radio, 6 Disc CD Changer, Navigation System and DVD player all factory installed. We installed the unit knowing we would be disabling the DVD player but it was worth the trade off as far as my son was concerned. After the initial installation the truck did not recognize the adapter and I was sure I had followed the directions perfectly. After speaking with the Crutchfield Tech guys they discovered the manufacturer had issued a new work-around that would allow you to use the DVD player and fix our problem as well. It involved splicing into the adpater wires with 2 RCA plugs but if you have any basic-basic skills in wiring it is a piece of cake. All works great and my son has tossed his FM Radio adapter in the trash next to mine. As always thanks to the Crutchfield Tech guys for being very helpful!!!

Pros: Excellent sound quality.

Cons: If you have a DVD player along with a Navigation system you need to do the work around and buy a couple of RCA plugs with stripped ends.

2006 Jeep Commander
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a 06 Jeep Commander with a factory 6 disc cd radio (RAQ). It was super easy to install (w/crutchfield's guides). It only took about 30 minutes total. I am impressed with both the sound quality and the ability to use the steering wheel controls to control my iPhone, it even controls PANDORA radio a little bit. It is a good product and gives you plenty of cord to run the connector to anywhere you would want it in the front seating area. I am very excited now that I can use my iPhone and all its abilities in my Jeep since it has no AUX jack on the factory radio. If you can follow a few simple directions to take apart the dash and remove the radio (about 20 screws total), all that's left is unplugging and plugging in a few plugs. Its truly plug n play. Thanks Crutchfield, you guys are the best!!!

Pros: Plug N Play, Good Sound, Steering Wheel controls, Easy Install

Cons: This is my first day with it, I will update if I find any cons.

Good aftermarket product

Anonymous from Scottsdale, AZ on 6/11/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

PRO: This was pretty easy to install and functions exactly as described. I like that it has 2 inputs so I can connect my iPod or my phone for Pandora. If you needed to run the adapter wire under the floor mats to get to the center console I'm sure there would be plenty. I thought I read that I would have to disable my Dodge factory 6-disc changer in order for this to work, but the changer still works as do all the other features of the factory radio. CON: There are no display features so you won't see artist or track names on your radio, but the product description explains that so it was expected.

does what it should

Mike from Roswell, GA on 6/9/2011

I would agree with most reviews here. There are some "gotchas" in functionality, but overall this was a good purchase. My 4 year old 07 Jeep GC is my first car in 20+ years that hasn't had a custom stereo installed right after purchase. The factory changer deck works great for MP3 CDs, but has some limitations and can basically freak out at times. What I really needed was a way to use my stereo and iphone 4 to play the 6 gigs of music/comedy/books easily. This does the job. It will also play sound from any app, as it works as a speaker dock... so youtube streams, netflix, or whatever will come through. Hint: Don't crank the gains, it will add noise. Issue: Sometimes the iphone and deck get out of sync. I have to go through a weird dance of turning stuff off/on and change modes, until it works. happens rarely. Final thoughts: Quick install, easy to use, not too expensive, does what it needs to. I could have gone cheaper via other merchants, but I appreciate Crutchfield's guides and long term support.

2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Thirty minutes after the Fed-Ex man dropped off the package I was listening to my iPod in my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee. All I had to do was pop off the radio panel, remove 4 screws holding the radio in, connect the wiring per the instructions, and route the cable down the right side and out under the right console panel. Very straight forward. I may reroute the cable later If I don't like it where it is over time. The cable is very long so there's plenty to enable routing it to the center console storage compartment. The Crutchfield instructions were excellent as usual. The units instructions were very straight forward, no extraneous and useless information. The only discrepancy in the unit's instructions was that it said to put the stereo in VES mode to use the iPod and mine needs to be in DVD mode. My only complaint is that it does not work when the car is off. The key has to be in the ACC position or on. I found this odd because the regular radio and CDs will play for 10 minutes, or until you open the door, after you shut the car off and remove the key. No such luck with the iPod. I liked that feature. I put it at 4 stars because I can't speak to it's long term reliability and because it doesn't work with the key out. Other than that I'm thrilled with it and very happy it was such a drama free install.

Awesome when it works.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I received one of these back in September of 2010 and had to exchange the first one, because the left channel didn't work at all. Yes, I did turn up the gain on that channel (there are gain dials on this device for each channel). I also, did the "unplug it and plug it back in again to see if it resets" thing that support always tells you to try. Nothing worked, so Crutchfield sent me a new one. The new one worked great up until now (March 2011) and now I am losing the left channel again. I know it's this unit, because my left channel works fine when I am using my normal radio functions (i.e. FM, CD, etc.) Check out the review by "Brad"...he has the same problem....except I think this is a problem in the unit itself, not the wiring harness. I have a feeling that there are some quality control issues at the company that makes these things. Trying again today to solve the issue, but may have to attempt another exchange with Crutchfield....just hope they are good about that now that this thing is now six months old. If I would have know I would have had this many problems, I would have ordered a new stereo with an aux input/iPod input.

Jeep Ipod Interface

Ed from Concord , Northern California on 3/13/2011

2007 Jeep Commander
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I give this Product a 2. I had it installed locally. It took 2 hours for them to install it inside a 2007 Jeep Commander. I did some research and came across this Ipod interface and decided to have it installed. The pros is that its one of the few interface that is available for the REC navigation system and sounds better than a FM modulator. The Cons are that it only works when your vehicle is running and you only have 3 buttons to choose from. One button allows you to scroll to the next playlist but you can not scroll back. Meaning if your scolled to the 5th playlist you can't scroll back to number 2 playlist it has to be done manually using the Ipod. Next once you get to the last playlist and finished the last song it goes blank and you have to switch to CD and back to reset it. Then the unit goes into randon play and playing all the songs in your Ipod. You then have to reset it with the Ipod manually for the first playlist and pick which playlist you want. Kinda annoying but so far its the only one on the market that I have found. I'm still looking for a better unit but for now I deal with it. Also it does not matter which Ipod you use. I tried Ipod Classic, Nano, Iphone and get the same result. Hope this helps.

Works as described, but not perfect

2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Chose this as a work around for a recently purchased 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with factory nav REC radio unit. Simple plug and play as described. Go to to find the most comprehensive radio, trim, and any parts removal diagrams. This website is very helpful compared to what instruction diagrams are included. Mounted my iPhone 30 pin connector up through the center console to the bottom of the left hand cup holder =subtle and functional, can't even see it. I dinged 1 star off because of the unit's software glitch or just plain poor design you should be aware of when installing in a factory Jeep's nav radio: when you're listening to your iPod under the VES setting and are about to park and turn off the key, your factory radio will toggle instantly over from iPod to the FM radio, which is really annoying and jarring. I hate this but decided to tolerate it vs. spending $1200 for a decent touch screen nav head unit radio. Crutchfield says this is the design and there's nothing that can be changed or adjusted to eliminate this. Would rather have the factory nav radio than something to invite theft. So 4 stars for this Peripheral iPod adapter, which is more than fair. I am impressed with Crutchfield's commitment to customer satisfaction and quality, which is worth mentioning. Thanks

This product sounds great; when it works. One of the wires in the harness has a bad connection. I've had the dash apart four times trying to find the culprit. I'll get it working, button things up, the next little bump in the road and it goes dead. I would be much happier with a Forty dollar FM modulator.

The ISCH73 was very simple to hook up. I've never messed with car stereos before so when the included instructions failed me, I made a phone call to Crutchfield and the tech guy explained everything to me in a language I understood and I was listening to my iPhone in under 40 minutes. Unfortunately my car's controls only work for volume and track up and down. No track/artist/display shown on stock stereo's display. But I got the adapter to get the most out of my iPhone's sound compared to an FM modulator, which it blows away! Couldn't be happier...unless AT&T improves my phone service.

Works like a charm. Truly is plug an play. I installed in a 2005 Chrysler 300C. The 6 disc changer is broke so i wanted to use my Ipod. Took me no time at all to install. It could use a little bit longer wiring harness as had hard time locating a good hiding spot for the box, but made it work

If you're just looking to connect your ipod this is awesome. Although it says it comes with a 20' ipod cord, the cord it comes with is only 11'. (what's up with that) You can control your ipod with the radio controls but you can't see the text on the display of the radio. I only gave it 3 stars because I got it so I could also hook up my xm radio, as it says it has an aux input. It turns out the aux input is only red and white RCA jacks, not a 3.5mm jack like most mp3 players, satellite radios and whatnot. Pretty disappointed.

[Editor's Note: Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Chris. We have corrected our database to state that it comes with an 11' cable.]

It was completely plug and play. and took me less than an hour, I probably could have completed it faster if I had done it before. Simply put it was a very easy upgrade. The only thing that I wish it was capable of doing is transferring the iPod text to the radio display (as advertised). Other than that I have no complaints !

The Apple Lightning to 30 pin adapter only support analogue audio. I do not know if the iSimple is looking for analogue or digital. I just still use my iPod touch for car music and my iPhone 6 for everything else.[ THOMAS A Mar 26, 2015 ]
I am not sure. I am using and old iPhone 4 I had laying around, just for music. I ran my cable into the glove box and just leave it in there. Every thing else works just fine. Sorry if I didn't answer your question.[ ANGELO Mar 26, 2015 ]
Brad Search for pinout diagram and you'll find the problem. My install was IP5.[ JACK Mar 25, 2015 ]
I have a jeep commander. When I plug in my iPhone 5s I can scroll through the inputs to a satellite input that isn't their unless my phone is connected. I'd try that first then check the adaptor. It seems like only Apple adaptors work not aftermarket.[ JUSTIN D Mar 25, 2015 ]
Hi! I'm not an expert by any means, but I'll try and help. Even though I Have an iPhone (older than yours), I use an iPod to store/play my music. When i first installed this device, I was having similar problems. I actually went went to a 300 forum (300cforums-dot-com) and searched for some information on the ISCH73 that helped. I don't recall the specific fix (it's been awhile), but I ended up going back over my install and double-checking what I did based upon what I read. I have a 2005 and there is 2 AUX settings (DVD1 and DVD2?) and after being bummed that I was getting zero sound, I found sound happiness when I selected the second AUX option. Good luck![ LAWRENCE Mar 25, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: It doesn't appear that this is a common occurrence and most likely won't happen in many vehicles. There have been no common problems or reports of the buttons being reversed and that one review is the only instance we have of note. I would assume it would only affect the controls when listening to the iPod source but I am not sure.If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat.[ Krissy Mar 19, 2015 ] Staff
As far as I know this will only allow you to play audio through the car. I had this in an 07 charger and I would switch the input to the "VES" (vehicle entertainment system). From the factory this would of been a DVD player but since how I didn't have the DVD player I could hook this up to it to play my ipod/ipad. I could switch to the VES input and play music or videos on my ipad and only the sound would come through. Not sure how integrated you wish to make it. But I feel as though all it is is a aux plug for Apple products. (This unit also has a separate jack for a headphone output just like an aux cord). Hope this helps[ KANE Feb 02, 2015 ]
For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle.[ Greg Feb 02, 2015 ] Staff
Hello could you confirm i can install this device on a jeep commander 2008 equiped by navigation system an the boston amplifier. Best regards[ xavier May 11, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system.
