iSimple iPod® Adapter for Chrysler
Add iPod control or an auxiliary input to select 2004-08 Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep vehicles
Our take on the iSimple iPod® Adapter for Chrysler by Crutchfield's Zak Billmeier
Listen to your iPod® and keep it charged using your Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep factory stereo. Just connect iSimple's iSCH73 interface to the back of your factory stereo via the included cable, then plug in your iPod and go. The interface lets you control the music with your radio buttons — even with your steering wheel controls if you have them.
If you prefer, you can use the iPod's Click Wheel instead of the radio buttons. You won't have to worry about sound quality in either case — the wired connection ensures the best possible fidelity from your music. The iPod interface will even charge your iPod while it's plugged in. This adapter kit works with all dockable iPods, including the iPhone®.
iSimple also includes a stereo RCA auxiliary input adapter cable, so you can add another source like a Dock & Play satellite radio or another brand of MP3 player. Warranty: 1 year.
Note: If you haven't already, please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if the included adapter cables will work with your vehicle.
Compatibility Note: Be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.

iSimple iPod® Adapter for Chrysler Reviews
Average Customer Review(s):
Thanks for submitting your review
Overview: Specially designed for 2004 to 2008 Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep models, the iSimple SoundByte X (ISCH73) offers an iPod/iPhone docking connection, basic iPod control through your factory radio, and an auxiliary input for use with other portable digital audio players. The iSimple SoundByte X allows you to keep your factory radio intact (no need to get a new radio installed) and offers crystal-clear audio playback from your connected iPod or iPhone. The SoundByte X (ISCH73) also provides CD-like track forward/track back control for your iPod/iPhone from your factory radio.
Vehicle Compatibility: The iSimple SoundByte iPod integration kit (ISCH73) is only compatible with Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep factory-installed RaK, REC, or RAQ radios.
Note: If your vehicle is equipped with a VES (Video Entertainment System) it will need to be disconnected. This adapter is not compatible with factory REF radios. Please use the Crutchfield Car Selector to verify compatibility with your vehicle.
iPod Compatibility: The iSimple SoundByte iPod integration kit (ISCH73) is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features when connected to a compatible Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep factory radio (as of 9/27/2013):
|iPod/iPhone Model||Generation||Media Type||Control Type||Display Type||Charge|
|Audio||Video||Radio||iPod/iPhone||Song/Artist Info||Track Info|
Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the factory radio and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until an newer software update is available.
iPhone Compatibility Note: When using the SoundByte X with an iPhone you will receive a warning message asking if you wish to put your iPhone in Airplane Mode. Simply respond "no" and you will be able to continue using your iPhone as normal.
Controls: The iSimple SoundByte X allows you to control your connected iPod or iPhone from the factory radio. The ISCH73 offers the following controls based on the type of factory radio you have installed in your vehicle.
- RAC & RAQ Radio: Previous Track/Next Track, Fast Forward/Rewind, Next Playlist/Previous Playlist
- REC Radio: Previous Track/Next Track, Fast Forward/Rewind, Next Playlist
Note: From your factory steering wheel controls (if equipped) you can operate the following iPod functions - Previous Track/Next Track and Fast Forward/Rewind.
No Text Display: There is no synching text display. Your iPod or iPhone will still be used for display information.
Auxiliary Input: The ISCH73 includes an auxiliary RCA audio input for use with other portable audio devices.
Installation: The iSimple ISCH73 plugs into your factory radio's satellite port. If you have a factory Satellite Radio tuner, unplug the Satellite Radio cable, plug in the ISCH73 into this port on back of your factory radio, and plug the Satellite Radio cable into the harness of the ISCH73.
Note: Your factory Satellite Radio tuner will still function even after the installation of this adapter module.

5 answers I have installed the adapter. I have the iPhone 6 Plus. The Auxillary works and I bought an 30-pin adapter. With my iPhone plugged in, I can charge over the iPod cable, but I can't get sound through the stereo. I can't control it either. Is it the 30-pin adapter or something else? [ bdnelson Mar 24, 2015 ]
The Apple Lightning to 30 pin adapter only support analogue audio. I do not know if the iSimple is looking for analogue or digital. I just still use my iPod touch for car music and my iPhone 6 for everything else. [ THOMAS A Mar 26, 2015 ]
I am not sure. I am using and old iPhone 4 I had laying around, just for music. I ran my cable into the glove box and just leave it in there. Every thing else works just fine. Sorry if I didn't answer your question. [ ANGELO Mar 26, 2015 ]
Brad Search for pinout diagram and you'll find the problem. My install was IP5. [ JACK Mar 25, 2015 ]
I have a jeep commander. When I plug in my iPhone 5s I can scroll through the inputs to a satellite input that isn't their unless my phone is connected. I'd try that first then check the adaptor. It seems like only Apple adaptors work not aftermarket. [ JUSTIN D Mar 25, 2015 ]
Hi! I'm not an expert by any means, but I'll try and help. Even though I Have an iPhone (older than yours), I use an iPod to store/play my music. When i first installed this device, I was having similar problems. I actually went went to a 300 forum (300cforums-dot-com) and searched for some information on the ISCH73 that helped. I don't recall the specific fix (it's been awhile), but I ended up going back over my install and double-checking what I did based upon what I read. I have a 2005 and there is 2 AUX settings (DVD1 and DVD2?) and after being bummed that I was getting zero sound, I found sound happiness when I selected the second AUX option. Good luck! 1 answer My question is in regards to another comment/ review of this product that stated the steering wheel button are reversed. Could you explain further please? Is it just the center buttons or the "whole" operation of the rocker switch? Also, is it this way all the time (ie.when listening to the radio or regular CD), or only when listen to iPod. Thank you [ Jeff Mar 18, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: It doesn't appear that this is a common occurrence and most likely won't happen in many vehicles. There have been no common problems or reports of the buttons being reversed and that one review is the only instance we have of note. I would assume it would only affect the controls when listening to the iPod source but I am not sure. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Mar 19, 2015 ] Staff
As far as I know this will only allow you to play audio through the car. I had this in an 07 charger and I would switch the input to the "VES" (vehicle entertainment system). From the factory this would of been a DVD player but since how I didn't have the DVD player I could hook this up to it to play my ipod/ipad. I could switch to the VES input and play music or videos on my ipad and only the sound would come through. Not sure how integrated you wish to make it. But I feel as though all it is is a aux plug for Apple products. (This unit also has a separate jack for a headphone output just like an aux cord). Hope this helps [ KANE Feb 02, 2015 ]
For details on fit or installation please contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and give you the details on if this will fit and what you will need for an installation in your vehicle. [ Greg Feb 02, 2015 ] Staff
Hello could you confirm i can install this device on a jeep commander 2008 equiped by navigation system an the boston amplifier. Best regards [ xavier May 11, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff Apr 15, 2014 ] Staff
