Overview

Our take on the PAC OS2-GM32 Wiring Interface

This PAC OS2-GM32 interface allows you to connect your new radio to the existing wiring in your vehicle and keep your factory features working. You'll keep the features you've become accustomed to such as safety warning chimes, the Bose amplified audio system, Retained Accessory Power (RAP), and the OnStar® system. If you have a standard Bose system, you'll be able to fade from the front to rear speakers with your new car stereo; if you have the Premium Bose system, you'll lose that ability.

The steering wheel controls for OnStar will still work, but you'll need a steering wheel control adapter (sold separately) to connect your new stereo to the Cadillac's steering wheel controls. You'll also lose the factory XM receiver.

Thankfully, I read other reviews before install. I had to cut the plate above the ashtray and put the interface below the stereo. Absolutely no room behind or above the double din stereo. Use a single din and you should have room above it. Can' fault the interface, WORKED just as advertised.

Product works perfectly as advertised. Only remark is that there is little room for the unit behind the radio in a 2002 Cadillac SLS. I sacrificed the small storage opening below the temp control to provide room for the adapter(s).

john from Everett, MA on 4/13/2017

2004 Cadillac DeVille

Installed in my 2004 Cadillac Deville with the standard bose system, removed it 10 minutes later. It did not fade front to rear, also did not like the seperate chime module that moved the chimes from the cars speakers to a little box under the dash. The wires are too short I had to extend the wires to make it fit Replaced it with a Metra GMOS 06.

Pros: none that i could find

Cons: too big, seperate chime module, no front to rear fade.

2005 Deville Install

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

There aren't a lot of options for interfacing aftermarket radios to the Deville OnStar system. The PAC OS2-GM32 is not hard to install but finding somewhere to put it is. The cables aren't long enough to place the units units under the steering wheel and there are AC ducts and solid metal behind the radio cavity. I chose to pull out my Dremel tool and care out the bottom back plastic and place the module, chime and steering wheel interface over the ash tray which usually stays open anyway because I use it for charging my devices. I might, in the future, add some wire to the cables to allow them to be placed near the steering wheel but it's fine for now. The wiring connections are pretty much color to color but not logical in that even though it's going to the amplifier behind the back seat you do not use the preamp outputs. You are connecting the powered FL,FR,RR,and RL speaker wires to the PAC module so you would think it would burn up the GM32 or your speakers but it works. What this means is that the specs of your radio as far as 2v or 4v preamp and wattage really don't matter. When complete everything works great except for the front/rear fader. The PAC instruction sheet warns that the fader will not work when connecting to the BOSE premium system but since I had the standard radio with CD I assumed it would work but I was wrong. It's not a problem as the most common occupant of my rear seat is my dog Leigha and she hasn't complained about the volu

Pros: Works as designed

Cons: Limited placement options Chime is too loud

Doesn't work for all applications it's listed for

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

PAC products usually don't disappoint, but this one sure did! Had to order this from Crutchfield instead of our usual distributor because we were in a pinch and needed one asap. (We are MECP certified techs and do hundreds of car stereos a year.) This unit was very straight-forward and installs the same as any other radio replacement interface...it just doesn't work for the particular vehicle we ordered it for. 2001 Cadillac Eldorado ETC. App guide says it will work, but it does not. Will be sending this one back and ordering using the Metra GMOS-06 instead.

Pros: none

Cons: doesn't work, extremely big so makes for a tight fit in most GM applications, chime module is separate box instead of being built-in

Needed it for a 2003 deville and wanted to smash it into a million little pieces because it is so big I couldn't get it to fit the only place it could go . After hours of fighting with it I got lucky and just barely got the the unit to force into where it needed to go .

Pros: It works

Cons: Way to big for most applications

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Do not order this unless you are an expert at soldering wires together. I did not know this would need to be done when I ordered the product I am totally dissatisfied with this item and would not recommend it at all.

Pros: There are no Pros for this Item.

Cons: You have to cut all the wires off of your other connectors and color those wires to the wires for all the plugins that come with this unit. Then strip both colored wires solder them together then warp with black electrician tape and you have to do this for all your speakers and every other unit you have to connect to. If you are no good at soldering then you are asking for a lot of short circuits down the road and it will be pure misery trying to find them!

Features

Radio Replacement Interface: The PAC OS2-GM32 radio replacement interface allows your to replace the factory stereo in select Cadillac vehicles with an aftermarket head unit and maintain operation factory features such as OnStar, Bose amplifier, RAP, and warning chimes.

Vehicle Compatibility: The PAC OS2-GM32 is compatible with select 1996-2005 Cadillac Deville, Eldorado, Seville vehicles with GM Class II data-bus system and 32-pin connector (with or without OnStar, and with Bose)

Note: Click here for the latest vehicle compatibility chart from PAC.

Retained Features: The PAC OS2-GM32 radio replacement interface retains the following factory features of your vehicle.

  • OnStar: The OS2-GM32 retains your vehicle's factory OnStar system. It allows audio from the OnStar system to play through the vehicle's two front speakers when OnStar is active, and mutes the output of your new aftermarket radio. OnStar volume control can still be done through your factory steering wheel controls.
  • Bose Amplifier: The PAC radio replacement interface lets you retain your vehicle's factory Bose amplifier. Standard Bose amplifiers will continue to fade front to rear. Due to the design of Premium Bose amplifier systems, there is currently no way of fading from front to rear with an aftermarket radio.
  • Accessory Turn-On Wire: The OS2-GM32 provides a +12V switched accessory output; no more searching for switched +12-volts in the fuse box or kick panel.
  • RAP: Your aftermarket head unit will continue to operate with the vehicle's RAP (Retained Accessory Power) system. The aftermarket radio will stay on after the vehicle's key is turned off and then stays on for approximately 10 minutes or until a door is opened.
  • Warning Chimes: The vehicle's factory warning & parking assist chimes are also fully retained. External chime module included.
Note: The OS2-GM32 does not retain the factory XM Satellite Radio receiver; you will lose this option when the factory radio is replaced with an aftermarket stereo.

Wiring Connection Chart: The included harness features the following wires which will need to be hardwired (solder or crimped) to your aftermarket head unit's wiring harness.
