Rockford Fosgate innovations

Take a closer look and you'll notice a couple of cool innovations. Rockford Fosgate uses a new technique to attach the surround to the cone that yields up to 25% more cone area, for fuller sound and stronger performance. They build the crossover into the speaker frame so you don't have to find an area to mount a separate box. The slots around the frame eliminate the need to redrill screw holes when the factory holes are just a little bit off. Grilles are included.

Note: The oversized terminals on these speakers won't connect to a Crutchfield wiring harness. A free 10-pack of female quick slides that you can splice onto our harness will be included with your speaker purchase.

The speakers sound crisp and are a huge upgrade from the stock speakers. Very easy to install when the right wiring harnesses are provided.

Outstanding Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have a new 2016 chevy cargo van with horrible sound so after consulting a local audio guy he suggested I start out by replacing the factory speakers with a component system, but was going to charge me a fortune, so I decided to put them in myself. it took me two hours to install, with some help from online videos and the Crutchfield installation directions. Man what a difference, I'm so happy. Note...the factory speakers no longer screw into the brackets, they now are a one piece unit, so I had to cut the old speaker out of the bracket and screw the new ones to the bracket. I also did some research online and found that the van comes wired for rear speakers, (the wires are grouped together right above the rear doors) so I just purchased 6x9s for the back. So I don't need a new stereo or sub woofer, This Van Rocks!!!!

Pros: Great highs from the tweeters

Cons: Could have a touch more bass

Incredible upgrade, fantastic speakers

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great component speakers. They wired in easy to my car and the tweeters look really nice where I have them in the doors. They sound great, look fantastic, and have a surprising amount of bass but are also well balanced. I have listened to most types of music with these now and the amount of sound and the clarity is just astounding every time!

Pros: Wiring was easy (as it should be), sound quality is excellent, looks are incredible, and volume... Its like a bath of pure sound!

Cons: None, none at all.

Nice Upgrade

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very good sound and value. Bass has nice punch, but not what you get from a sub woofer. The mid and high frequencies sound clear and accurate. I used the Toyota Tacoma tweeter mountings and cutout the original tweeters. I used zip ties to mount secure the new tweeters to the original mounting. I am pleased with how this project turned out.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers look great, easy to install but lack in the sound department. They are installed in aftermarket kick panels and leave mid range frequencies to be desired.

Pros: Look great, easy installation, built in crossover makes it unnecessary to hide the usual crossover box that typically comes with component speakers.

Cons: Sound. Very "tinny" sounding. Unsure if it's the kick panel enclosure or the speaker.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers sound crisp and are a huge upgrade from the stock speakers. Very easy to install when the right wiring harnesses are provided.

Pros: Ease of installation Great sound

Cons: Probably was just an anomaly, but I was provided the wrong wire harnesses, so I had to cut the plugs to the speakers and use my own.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had these professionally installed at a Car Tunes location. I was really excited after reading the previous reviews and bought them based on those reviews. But to be honest I think these speakers are a lateral move from the Boston Acoustic premium speakers that were already installed. No noticeable difference. More than slightly disappointed. Maybe it's my stereo head unit that is the problem. I have these hooked up to a Clarion NX404 that I also bought from Crutchfield.

Pros: Price Construction materials and quality.

Cons: No noticeable difference from the premium Boston Acoustic speakers that that came with my car.

giving five stars although its hard to imagine anything being worse than factory speakers. the tweeter were difficult to mount in stock locations for my truck. I just had to do some creative fabrication. I have them powered by a p400x4 and they work great.

Pros: way better than stock and price

Cons: none

clean sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Put these in my son's Nissan Frontier to replace the rear door speakers and tweeters. The improvement was decent with just the speakers but adding a small amp really brought these things to life. Gonna put a pair or two in my truck next.

Pros: Low price Nice sound

Cons: None so far

good speakers, but the highs are very, very high, most cd players should manage this fine with EQ settings

Pros: sounds great

Cons: very high highs

Good quality just remember...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are great speakers. I really like the easy hookup. The tweeters hook right to the main speaker with out having to deal with the eternal crossover. This really speeds up installation. Keep in mind that there is a crossover; it's just attached. I give 4 stars because I want consumers to remember that this speaker isn't going to give you incredible bass. It does give bass, but not thumping bass. These are great additions with my 10" sub.

Pros: Great highs, and high quality. Mid range is excellent. Easy installation. There are several different tweeter attachments to help you install.

Cons: These speakers aren't going to give you thumping bass. They might thump more if you really max the power, but I doubt it. Do they have bass? Yes, some but I was led to purchase a sub after installing these. If I could do it again, I might go for a bigger speaker or even a 6x9.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

High quality components. Vast improvement over the crappy JBL speakers in my Tundra. I think that they will need an amp to perform their best, but for now they sound great wired to a JVC head unit @ 22 watts.

Pros: tweeter crossover built into the woofer housing. decent power rating for price range.

Cons: none

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers to replace my factory speakers in my 2008 Toyota Tundra DC without JBL system. First I would like to say that Cruthcfield made my purchase easy and hassle free. The speakers are well priced and fast delivery. These speakers are a big improvement from factory. I will say that the lows are not that good however I have these speakers hooked up to a rockford amp and sub so that was not a factor. If you are looking for these to replace factory speakers and want lows, better add a sub.

Pros: Price, Fast delivery and great sound. Easy to install and when you buy from Crutchfield they give you everything you need to get them installed.

Cons: Lows could be better.

Component Speakers for 2007 Tahoe

2007 Chevrolet Tahoe
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced the stock stereo speakers in my son's 2007 Tahoe, 8 speakers in total with 2 sets of these Rockford's and connected them to an amp that I also purchased from Crutchfield. These speakers sound great and can handle my 16 year old's volume levels, way loud, shacking the car loud! The crossover is a part of the mid range speaker unit so I didn't have to install a separate piece, very convenient. Definitely recommend these speakers and Crutchfield.

Pros: Crossover is a part of the mid-range unit. Handles high volume without any distortion.

Cons: None

Honda Ridgeline - Front and Rear

2006 Honda Ridgeline
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced my stock speakers with 2 pair of these component speakers. I was able to listen to them with the stock head unit and subwoofer still installed. The clarity is so noticeable on these speakers. I mounted each tweeter on the column that is on the door. I love the crossover being built into the 6 3/4" speaker. This makes wiring and installing a breeze. I love the sound even as stock replacements. I gave these speakers everything I had and no distortion and great sound. Next phase is to install a new head unit, subwoofer and amp.

Pros: Crystal clear high end and good overall sound as well.

Cons: none

Injection-Molded Polypropylene Woofers: The woofer cones are mineral filled, injection-molded polypropylene. This molding process assures a uniform cone thickness for superior linearity and clarity. It is also light weight and rigid for decreased distortion and improved bass response.

Butyl Rubber Surrounds: The butyl rubber surrounds dampen unwanted harmonic distortion while maintaining linear geometry under extreme weather conditions. This leads to less distortion, superior frequency response, and superior durability.

VAST Surround: The Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST) increases a speaker's effective radiating cone area without increasing the size of the basket.

FlexFit Basket: The Flex Fit frame utilizes slots (where possible) instead of single screw sized holes; allowing slight adjustment of the speaker when mounted.

PEI Dome Tweeters: The 1" dome tweeters are made of Poly-Ether-Imide (PEI); PEI is a polymer film that produces a wide soundstage for superior imaging.

Mounting: The tweeters have multiple mounting configurations; choose flush or surface mount. The surface mount housing can be positioned at a 10° or 30° angle. Depending on the mount used, the installed dimensions are:

  Flush Surface 10° Surface 30°
Mounting Height 0.446" 1.075" 1.265"
Mounting Depth 0.911" Screw Depth Screw Depth
Frame Diameter 2.357" N/A N/A
Cutout Diameter 1.75" N/A N/A
Frame Width N/A 2.130" 2.130"
Frame Depth N/A 2.162" 2.140"

Crossovers: The high-pass crossovers are integrated into the baskets of the woofers. The slope is 12dB per octave.

Why did you buy this?

I was looking for a Rockford system and these speakers had very good reviews and they also go with the punch p3 woofer that I have. [ Brandon  Oct 25, 2016 ]
I liked the reviews on Crutchfield and RF products are always top notch. [ Hugh  Jul 20, 2016 ]
Trust the brand [ Todd  Apr 20, 2016 ]
RFP- nothing need to be said. [ Will  Apr 01, 2016 ]
Best reviews and fits my application. Sale price enabled me to buy a second pair for the rear doors. [ Quinn  Mar 16, 2016 ]
so far, so good. Still need to get them installed. I'm waiting on the brackets. [ L  Mar 13, 2016 ]
These are good speakers at good price. [ CHARLES  Mar 10, 2016 ]
I have the Punch 1675 speakers in the rear doors and they sound great when amped. Can't go wrong with Fosgate [ Kenneth  Dec 17, 2015 ]
Daughter told me this was what her husband wanted for xmas, and wanted it from crutchfield because they give technical support [ Vicki  Dec 10, 2015 ]

3 questions already asked

no [ Mr.  Jul 28, 2016 ]
No. I am running them off the 50 watt RMS head unit. They sound and perform great. Hope this helps. [ ROBERT  Jul 28, 2016 ]
I have installed this speaker with and without an external amp. The speaker is definitely an upgrade from factory without an external amp but I installed the speaker with a kenwood xr-5s amp which has 80 watts rms at the speaker channel and they sounded much better. [ Will  Jul 28, 2016 ]
No they don't. I have a fosgate amp running mine. And they sound great [ MIKE  Jul 28, 2016 ]
No they dont. I used to run them on head unit power and they had enough volume. But now i have them amped. Pretty good speakers [ Deborah  Jul 28, 2016 ]
Not required but definitely recommended. Mine are powered by a Fosgate PBR series amp. [ Kenneth  Jul 28, 2016 ]
the crossover is built into the speaker so you will want to use both the mid and the tweeter....they do provide plenty of wire so you can mount them where ever you need. Hope this helps. [ EUGENE M.  Jan 14, 2015 ]
Typically tweeters are placed in front of the listener for best listening (usually on top of the front dash). some sounds might sound off but as long as wiring is in place there shouldn't be a functional problem [ Logan Van  Jan 02, 2015 ]
Yes I separated the tweeters and put them in my dash with the mid in the door. [ JAMES C  Jan 02, 2015 ]
Mike, I purchased 2 pairs of these speakers. I installed the tweeters in the columns along the front and rear windshields of a Tahoe and installed the mid-ranges in the doors. Both locations were the original locations of existing speakers. I'd check with Crutchfield's experts but I believe in order for the speakers to function properly they need to both (tweeter & mid-range) be installed. Hope this helps. BTW, the speakers sound great. I run them through an amp with a sub. [ CHARLES  Jan 02, 2015 ]
in theory you could. But the crossovers are integrated into the woofers so you would have to make sure the frequency coming into the tweeters was proper. I'm not sure under what your installation circumstance is but this might not be the right setup for you. If you are going to install the woofers later, you might just want to get a setup with a proper free-standing crossover so you can just wire the tweeters first and then wire in the woofers later. [ JOSEPH  Jan 02, 2015 ]
The tweeters are completely separate from the woofers. In this case, the tweeter needs to be wired to the woofer. The frequency crossover is built in to the woofer housing. It is going to be more important to have a prewired location for the woofer, then your tweeter can be located just about anywhere after that. [ Christopher  Jan 02, 2015 ]
I used them with the factory wiring already in place in my Buick Verano... I used the tweets in the upper doors and front dash... The mids I placed at the bottom of the doors... IE: used the factory wiring but placed the speakers seperatly to fit the existing car... Worked for me and sound great... As to your specifics I can't say but you can use the speakers seperatly. Good luck [ RICHARD J  Jan 02, 2015 ]
Mike, I purchased the p1675-s and installed them in my Silverado pickup but I had a factory location to mount them that made the installation very easy. You can mount these anywhere you like but keep in mind that shoulder level is the best for sound. Below is a link to an article from Crutchfield's site. Hopefully that is what you needed if not call their customer service they are top notch. You won't be disappointed. They helped me tremendously during my installation replacing my entire system. [ JAMES  Jan 02, 2015 ]
I'm not sure I totally understand your question. If you'd like to skip installing the mid range and just install the tweeters I don't see any reason why that would be a problem except you're not going to get to use the tweeter crossover because the crossover is embedded in the mid range speakers. However, I think you're better off finding a set of just tweeters--there isn't any point in getting this set just to have the tweeters if you're not planning on using the mids at all. [ Daniel  Jan 02, 2015 ]
Joe T, Yes they have the crossovers built into the mid's on the speaker you can't even tell they are there. That makes it a lot easier to install. You will not have to find a place to install the crossover. These speakers sound amazing! I highly recommend them for the price. The lows did not impress me, but I have a sub so it didn't bother me. [ RYAN  Apr 28, 2014 ]
Cross-overs are built into soeakers. I have 2 sets installed on my son'sTahoe & added a sub, amp and audio controller. Great speakers, [ CHARLES  Apr 28, 2014 ]
No, there are not external crossovers. That is one of the perks of this model. The cross overs are internal making wiring easy and not havering to find a spot to place the cross over. [ JASON G  Apr 28, 2014 ]
They have internal crossovers--just plug the tweeters into the midrange speakers. [ Daniel  Apr 28, 2014 ]
The crossovers are built into the frame of the Woofer. This makes the installation much simpler as you don't have to mount and wire in a separate crossover filter. I really like these speakers. I installed them in my motorhome dash and window pillars and they sound great. With a good equalizer and bass boost they even put out good enough bass that I decided to not install a separate powered subwoofer. [ DARRELL  Apr 27, 2014 ]
They are built in the the unit. There are four of the connection tabs. Two on top say + twtr -. [ Patrick  Apr 27, 2014 ]
