I was skeptical about these subs, but they were about the only thing I could find that would fit for a decent price. I have two of them behind the seat of my Nissan Hardbody. Since the last good stereo I had included 4 12" subs, and over 900 watts of power, I expected to be dissapointed. While these things obviously can't hold a candle to my last stereo, they do provide a good amount of bass for the size and price. If you are just looking for a decent amount of bass to fill in the gaps, these will get the job done. They would probably sound even better if there was some clearance behind the magnets.

Great Small Sub

I recently bought a Chevy Colorado Crew Cab. The factory stereo was lacking to say the least.I bought one of these Fosgate 8,s because there is limited space under the rear seat. This sub sounds great!I was concerned that such a shallow box (about 4" deep) would develope the dreaded "ping" that shallow boxes sometimes do.I am happy to say,no ping. This sub has excellent range. it is able to reproduce low frequencies that I did not expect from an 8.This sub is not a window shaker but it does a great job of re-enforcing the bass.I have this one powered by an Audiobahn A4002T, And it handles the power well with no distortion. Great sub from the greatest electronics store on earth,Crutchfield!

I purchased the RF P2 to put in a custom sealed enclosure that I built to go inside of the center console of my 03 Jeep Wrangler.

I am impressed to say the least. I bought this because it was the smallest sub that I could find that would handle a good amount of power (200 W).

I have this sub running off of the stock head unit with a line output converter to a profile AP400 amp (200 Watts X 1).

This sub sounds very good with rock/hip hop/techno. I highly recommend buying one if limited space is a must.

Excellent Sub

I recently put two of these under the rear seat of my 2006 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab. I had very little space to work with (about 4"), which is why I went with 8" subs. They sound incredible! They sound just as good as a lot of 12" subs I've seen. They hit hard, clean, and don't distort at high volumes. Highly recommended for those of us with limited space, or to anyone who wants great bass for very little money.

Great speaker! Used to replace a weak, 26W, unit in an Avalon that was blown out. Nice powerful bass tone with no distortion; or chance of it from this stock stereo. Took a little modifiying to fit in stock location, but all is good. Now we need more power!!

I bought the Rckford Fosgate as a replacement speaker for my current audio system. I am very happy with the sound quality and ease of installation and feel this speaker provides me with the sound quality I was looking for especially in light of my previous speaker.

Very Sweet Sub

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I do not listen to my music with so much bass that the windows crack in my truck. I listen to country, classic rock, and oldies. This sub provides the perfect amount of bass to compliment my music. It is a very high quality product, and does not distort at all when played at very high volumes. It hits extremely hard, but at a modest level so it dosnt overpower the actual music. I was amazed at what it did at much higher levels of volume to. I highly reccomend this sub to anyone who wants to add high quality bass to their music.

After careful consideration for space and cost I decided to use this sub in my 2004 F-250 CC. I had 4 of these put in a down-firing sealed enclosure under my rear seat with 200 watts to each. After a few days of break-in these sub realy started to rock. Response was outstanding and clean all way down the frequencies. These are perfet for rock and other tight hitting music. Rap and hip hop really pound also. I was first skeptical of having only 8" woofers, but now things are a little different and I see these in future installs.

Completing an already decent factory system....

ted from Michigan on 5/16/2005

I just installed one of these speakers in a custom sealed box enclosure (.25~.3 ft^3), powered by an old
alpine 140W amp with a low pass filter on it. It is under the rear seat of my Tundra. At first, I was going to get two of them, but I am glad I didn't. I didn't want my truck to be one of those cars rattling down the road, I just wanted to add the right amount of bass to the factory JBL system.

The sub sounds AWESOME. Only one of these was needed to fill the whole truck with just the right amount of bass. I was really surprised at the bass that is coming from one 8" sub.

I tried turning the gain on my amp all the way up, and the sub REALLY thumps. Kinda makes me want to upgrade everything else in the truck....

Features

Woofer: The cone is constructed of molded polypropylene. Polypropylene is lightweight and strong, giving the woofer high power handling and low distortion.

High Excursion Large Roll Surround: A large edge roll surround allows Punch woofers to produce 20% more linear excursion than standard surrounds, resulting in more bass output.

Parabolic Triangular Cone Geometry Support System: By bonding a polypropylene parabolic dust cap of equivalent size to the cone body, a balanced triangular structure is created. This system reduces piston flex and eliminates cone distortion.

Linear Spider: A compliant linear spider improves mechanical stability under high excursion, maintaining consistent excursion characteristics. This eliminates the need for a "break-in period."

Spider Support Ring: This integrated ring increases the bonding surface area between the voice coil former and spider, establishing a stronger joint. The result is increased mechanical power handling under high power/high excursion situations.

Anodized Aluminum Voice Coil Former: Aluminum voice coil formers offer superior heat dissipation over other commonly used materials. The hard-anodized finish increases the former's strength. These two factors combine to improve the overall power handling characteristics of the subwoofer.

Precision Stamped CRS Basket: Reinforced cold roll steel basket legs dampen unwanted resonance for better bass coupling.

Double Stacked Magnet Motor Assembly: The stacked magnet assembly is used to create a powerful linear motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass output.

Removable Magnet Cover: The cosmetic magnet cover can be removed when additional mounting clearance is required. With the magnet cover installed, the woofer has the following dimensions:

 • Magnet Diameter: 6.237"
 • Depth as top: 4.037"

Spring Posts: The heavy-duty spring posts will accept pin connectors and bare wire.

Concealing Ring: Once the subwoofer is mounted, the concealing ring can be installed to hide the mounting screws, giving the subwoofer a finished look.

Enclosure Compatibility

Recommended Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Rockford Fosgate range from 0.15 cu/ft to 0.35 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Rockford Fosgate is 0.25 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield.

Recommended Vented Box Volume: The vented box sizes recommended by Rockford Fosgate range from 0.5 cu/ft to 0.75 cu/ft. Within this range, the ideal size recommended by Rockford Fosgate is 0.65 cu/ft, so this is the enclosure recommended by Crutchfield. One 2" diameter x 5.9" long port should be used with a 0.65 cu/ft enclosure.

Recommended Single Reflex Bandpass Volume: Rockford Fosgate's enclosure chart lists three compatible bandpass enclosures. The highlighted bandpass enclosure has a sealed chamber volume of 0.25 cu/ft, a vented chamber volume of 0.2 cu/ft and a single 3" diameter x 14.25" long port. The smallest recommended enclosure has a sealed chamber volume of 0.15 cu/ft, a vented chamber volume of 0.14 cu/ft and a single 3" diameter x 20.5" long port. The largest recommended enclosure has a sealed chamber volume of 0.35 cu/ft, a vented chamber volume of 0.25 cu/ft and a single 3" diameter x 17.5" long port.
