Great Sub

Shawn from Waianae, HI on 10/17/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had the 10" version and loved it, but I began to miss the detail a 12" sub provides. Luckily, both versions of the have the same power requirements. Easy plug and play install and "boom" my detail was back. This sub is very musical. All of the lower notes are played back with tremendous accuracy. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to add a sub to their system.

Pros: Awesome detail

Cons: None

Put this in my Toyota Corolla, being pushed by a 5 Channel Pioneer amp. This sealed box and 12" Prime combo give great tight bass. Exactly what I was looking for.

Crank it up!!!!!!!!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This sub flat rocks. It's powered with a JL Audio 5 channel with 300 to the sub. Very warm and full with no signs of letting up when it's cranked hard. Will be a very nice addition to most systems.

Pros: Quality and price

Cons: None

My little car can barely handle this monster. Packaged with the Rockford Fosgate R500X1D, I have to adjust the levels quite a bit to stop shaking the sides off my car! WOW this thing is a beast.

Pros: BOOM, size (it doesn't need a huge box)

Cons: no grill, doesn't hit all the way down to 20Hz

Spectacular sound

Just the sound I was looking for and at an attractive price.

Pros: Great design and deep bass.

Cons: Had to buy speaker grill separately

Awesome Value

This subwoofer will restore low end sound from a factory car sound system. While not quite up to par with some higher-end speakers like JL Audio, with the optimized sealed enclosure provides clean and accurate bass for those who have never experienced a subwoofer before. The bass is not going to shake your car, jitters on your mirrors at most, but is enough to feel that punchy thump most people look for without being too boomy. Granted it is a sealed enclosure and sub both designed by RF to work optimally, this subwoofer can provide adequate sound with great efficiency with only 200W of RMS output. I've tried higher wattage subs that didn't come close to this one in terms of accuracy and loudness. Audiophiles will notice how sometimes the subwoofer will output different loudness for different frequencies being most accurate and articulate around the 70-100Hz range, while slightly muddies in the surrounding frequencies. Don't let this fact sway you from buying this sub though because for most people, these are the areas of bass which are most prominent in most music. Overall it's a great value and will definitely be enough for the average joe seeking to improve their basic car stereo. Rockford Fosgate certainly has a musicality touch to their subwoofers. The sound they produce is signature RF and to some people it's better suited to rock music hence the brand name. Other subwoofers tend to have their own type of sound but RF did well designing this for numerous music ty

Pros: Great value, decent sound quality well-suited even for audiophiles (though at times may leave them wanting more). Very reliable. Signature RF sound.

Cons: Noticeable muddiness in some frequencies when mixing in low frequencies to other speakers (is not as pronounced at lower volumes)

Put in my Saturn ion and fills the entire car with great sounding bass. I paired it with the Jbl gx-a3001 amp.

Bumps pretty good for a single twelve.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this subwoofer to add to my 2013 Scion Frs' audio system that was lacking in the bass department. This was the perfect thing for my needs, it doesn't overpower the speakers but adds the rich bass I was used to. It is fairly priced and will definitely get loud if you set it up right. It vibrates everything in the car but you can barely hear it on the outside which is good because I'm not trying to tick off my neighbors. (Exhaust does that quite well already :P) only bad thing is when I measured I didn't think about how the sides of the trunk slope downward so it only fits in the middle. But I didn't use it anyway so no real loss there.

Pros: Sounds great inside car, fair price, excellent quality.

Cons: Has to be in the middle but that was my error so I do not have any cons!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The subwoofer is awesome, it hits good and I got a great deal. I got it quick and I'm very happy with Crutchfrields's customer support, I didn't know I had to give them my number to confirm my order and an actual person called me and let me know so I wouldn't lose the product. They could of just never called me and I never would of gotten the product. I'm so thankful for that and it makes me want to come back to crutchfield again for future electronic purchases.

Pros: The sub came in great packaging, it was easy to setup, and I had it bumpin in minutes. Crutchfield delivered it quick and was very helpful in the process. Crutchfield says it's the

Cons: The only con is now I want to buy more stuff for my speaker system because my music sounds so good and that's a plus depending on how you look at it, but it's most definitely a con for my checkbook haha.

You only need one.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have always been skeptical about just having one sub, not anymore. 150 watt amp with this sub is plenty, I find myself turning my sub level output from my receiver down so I don't drowned out the rest of my system with bass. This sub hits hard and the clean bass cords are clean and sound good. If your into subsonic lows it will numb your body and wiggle your brain.

Pros: High quality, looks cool, simply to use.

Cons: I think they could of spared a grill.

My sub was not enclosed. It is packed tightly inside the box with Styrofoam on the corners but I'm pretty sure there is something over it, it should be fine.. [ Austin  Feb 08, 2017 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best amp for your subs I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the amp models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Krissy  Sep 28, 2015 ]  Staff
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: While the size of the speaker doesn't come into play in this scenario the impedance and power handling does. Your second speaker will need to be at 4-ohm impedance (assuming you have a mono amp that is stable at 2-ohms) and it would be best to match the power handling to the Rockford. In this instance you would be running 300 watts to a system that could handle 400 RMS. That just about fits into our recommended minimum. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy  Jun 29, 2015 ]  Staff
