Rockford Fosgate performance in an affordable package — the Prime Series R150X2 2-channel amp can drive a pair of speakers with 50 watts RMS each, so you'll really feel your tunes rockin'. Or, you could switch the R150X2 to 1-channel mode to run a sub with 150 watts RMS — when you buy a bigger amp for your subs later on, you can still use this 2-channel to drive your front speakers. You can use the high- and low-pass filters and Rockford Fosgate's famous Punch boost to get maximum performance from the speakers in your vehicle. And speaker-level inputs let you hook this amp up to almost any system, even a factory stereo.
The R150X2's heavy cast-aluminum chassis efficiently draws damaging heat away from its internal components, ensuring reliable, long-term play. The amp's built-in sensors keep track of the output current and power supply temperature, ensuring that plunging speaker impedances (they change constantly during play) or even a short circuit won't hurt anything. Excellent amp. Excellent company. RockfordFosgate is long known for quality products. I bought to run mid bass Kicker Free Air 6x9s. In my 07 Grand Prix, I had hoped to mount under passenger seat but due to floor uneven surface it would not fit. Manual says it can be mounted inverted, so I put it in my trunk with a nice clean installation (you can't even see it is there) trunk still fully useable (room for plenty of bodies :)
Pros: Warranty extended 1 year if you buy the RockfordFosgate wiring kit, which you need anyway and quality counts!
Cons: Not so much a con but it doesn't have the RockfordFosgate "C.L.E.A.N" easy adjustment system to set the perfect gain your head unit can put out. I just learned about this and want it in my next amp.

Good amp. Relatively small footprint. Lots of controls. All of the wires are on one side. I can't tell you how much easier it is to route wires when they all enter and exit from the same side. The spec sheet from Fosgate says it tested at 183 watts bridged. It gives decent punch to my alpine 12. Kudos to Fosgate for even throwing in the allen wrench to tighten your connections.
Pros: Doesn't heat up, all wires on same side of amp, lots of controls to get your settings right.

Very good mid-level amplifier. Performs very well at this price level. Nice form factor with easy to access terminals. My only complaint is kind of silly and OCD. The pots for the gains and cross-over levels were not flush with the amp case. Other than that minor criticism, I'm very pleased.
This amp is great. Very musical sounding and seems to provide more detailed sound with my Rockford Fosgate co-ax speakers. More than enough power and no distortion and provides good controls to shape the sound of your music.
Pros: No unnecessary switches or features . Just a pure amplifier.

I paired this amp with a single JL Audio 8W1v2-4 subwoofer, in my 2001 Tahoe, and I am extremely happy. On the Low Pass setting all I hear is bass. Plenty of power at a great cost. And when I'm ready to upgrade, I can use this for my door speakers on the high pass setting if need be. Hardest part of install was getting power cable from the engine compartment to the cab of my truck.
Pros: Installation couldn't have been easier.

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R150X2 2-channel amplifier is designed to power a set of full-range or component speakers. The amplifier can also be bridged to power a single speaker.
CEA 2006 Compliant: The R150X2's power ratings and signal to noise ratio are measured according to the uniform standards advocated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). This allows you to accurately compare these specifications for all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to these standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging. CEA2006 Specifications for this amplifier are:
LED Indicator: The amplifier is equipped with an LED power/protect indicator. The LED illuminates blue when the unit is turned on. It illuminates red if the thermal or short circuit protection circuit is engaged, and the amplifier will automatically turn off.
Mounting: The amplifier can be mounted vertically or horizontally using the supplied mounting screws. The amplifier should never be mounted in an engine compartment as this will void the warranty.
Gain Control: Use the amplifier's gain control to match the output of the source unit. The rotary gain control is labeled 1 to 11 and has a sensitivity range of 150mV to 4V when using the RCA inputs, 450mV to 12V when using the speaker level inputs.
Crossover: The amplifier is equipped with a 12dB/octave Butterworth crossover. A crossover switch allows you to choose low-pass, high-pass, or full-range operation. The crossover point is continuously variable from 50 to 250 Hz.
Punch EQ: The Punch EQ bass boost circuit is adjustable from 0 (min) to +12dB (max) and centered at 45Hz.
Power Terminals: The power and ground terminals are nickel-plated set screw terminals and will accommodate up to 4 gauge power and ground wires.
Fuse: An external 20-amp fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire at the battery. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 20-amps, the original should be replaced with a 20-amp fuse.
Remote Turn-On Terminal: The remote turn-on terminal is a nickel-plated set screw terminal that will accommodate up to an 8 AWG wire. It's used to remotely turn the amplifier on and off.
Speaker Terminals: The two pair of speaker outputs are nickel-plated set screw terminals what will accommodate up to 8 AWG speaker wire.
RCA Input Jacks: The industry standard RCA jacks provide an easy connection for preamp level input. They are nickel-plated to resist signal degradation caused by corrosion.
Speaker Level Input: A speaker level input harness is included, making it easier to add the amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs.
RCA Output Jacks: A pair of RCA pass-thru jacks provides a convenient source for daisy-chaining an additional amplifier without running an extra set of RCA cables from the front of your vehicle to the amplifier location.

I don't need big power but wanted something that would match well with the RF 6x9 2-way speakers I am putting behind the seats in my Corvette. The speaker level inputs will allow me to use my existing speaker wires so no re-wiring mess. I am replacing the 2 rear Bose speaker/amp combination units with this amp and a matched set of 6x9 speakers. All the wiring for amp power via the stock relay and speakers is already there so it should be an easy upgrade along with the JVC RS680. [ Alan Aug 06, 2017 ]

This is a great amp at a great price. I paired this with an Alpine head unit (UTE-52BT) and kicker 6x9's (40CS6934) for a 2 channel set up. I chose this over the Alpine amps since this had the pre-amp inputs from the head unit. Overall, everything was purchased on a discount and should all work together with no issues. This was a great Crutchfield team recommendation for my head unit and speakers since I wanted to use the pre amp outputs of a head unit. [ Brandon Dec 23, 2015 ]

According to Rockford, this amp only has built in tone controls for the bass section @ 45hz. We are using our amp to drive a pair of component speakers, but we didn't purchase a bass knob. My understanding is that only the punch and power amps have the capability to boost treble. Prime amps don't have this function. [ LYLE Apr 07, 2017 ]
This is directly out of the manual: Punch EQ This works along with the crossover switch on the amplifier. When set to Low-Pass (LP) operation, this is a variable Bass Boost. When set to High- Pass (HP) operation, this is a variable Mid-Bass and Treble Boost. When set to All-Pass (AP) operation, both the Bass and Treble frequencies are boosted. The Punch EQ is really a bass boost. You don't boost high frequencies with an amp; you're boosting all frequencies. Adjust treble and bass from the headunit and leave the punch eq knob alone. [ ALDRIC Apr 06, 2017 ]
According to Rockford stats, that amp will put out 75 watts per side @ 2 ohms. You would have to wire each side/channel using two 4 ohm door speakers on each side, in parallel, or bi-wire each speaker on each channel to the amp. It should work, but I don't know how loud you play your music. Theoretically that configuration will nearly double a transistor amp output before clipping, as most mid-fi car audio head units are rated @ < 1% THD. Try it. [ RICHARD F Aug 31, 2016 ]

This power amp is rated for 2-channel stereo at ONLY 50 watts per side at 1.0 % Total Harmonic Distortion. I would NOT recommend it to power two 125 watt rated 12" subwoofers, it would be too under powered and over distorted. Yes one could get sound out of the subwoofer but it would be unpleasant and likely distorted. When one uses subwoofers, one should match the power amp to the speaker rating AND it would even be better to have the amp slightly more powerful so as to avoid distortion. I would suggest at least a power amp of 150 watts per side @ no more than 1.0 % Total Harmonic Distortion. DON'T BUY a lesser amp, and yes you'll have to spend more money, but at least when you turn it up, ( and that's probably why you want "two" 12" subs ), it'll sound the way I suspect you'll want it to. A lot will depend on how many ohms you're using. At 4 0hms, the amp will put out 50 watts RMS per channel maximum. At 2 ohms, 75 per. This info is readily accessible at crutchfield.com. Again, these are ratings with the power turned all the way up. Since, hopefully you realize that you should never do such a thing, I would safely say that you should have absolutely no problems powering speakers rated at 70 watts. I'm powering 2 Polk Audio DXi571 speakers with great results. [ William Dec 13, 2014 ]
The amp spec sheets often do show a higher power rating. This is usually between 10-30% over rated power and will be specific to that amplifier. I think this will be a great match for your speakers.
