Whether you're building your first system or replacing some burned-out factory speakers, Rockford Fosgate's Prime Series R165X3 6-3/4" speakers offer clean, powerful performance that'll keep you and your friends rockin' as you drive. Plus, Prime speakers are a great way to get Rockford Fosgate sound quality without destroying your bank account.
The R165X3 adds a piezo supertweeter for extra detail.
Each 6-3/4" speaker sports a stiff polypropylene woofer cone that delivers strong drums and bass, along with clean reproduction of the midrange frequencies. The silk dome tweeter and piezo supertweeter add the excitement of strong high-frequency response to your music without a trace of harshness. The built-in crossover network divides the frequencies going to each driver, so all your music plays faithfully. Grilles are included.
Note: Rockford Fosgate describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake, we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker.

Pros: Great sound
Nice sound quality - great bang for your buck
Excellent sound!!! Love it
Simple and easy to install.great quality sound as well
Excellent speakers in all aspects. I had one question on the install, made a call and had a contact explaining what I needed to know, all in about 2 minutes! Outstanding!
Pros: Quality materials and workmanship. Sound is more than I expected for the price.
These speakers sound great even without an amp. Very happy with the purchase.
Pros: Great sound, low price
These are pretty amazing. I have OEM speakers in the front but i put these behind the driver seats and they are very powerful. They are plug and play and have a wide range of noise. Pretty amazing product. Huge upgrade from OEM and they really are not that expensive in the big picture. I would recommend these to anyone.
Pros: Loud. Easy to install. powerful. wide range of freqs.
Cons: Have not found, hear, or seen any yet.
Great product for the price. Was looking for a step up from OEM and got it. Totally satisfied
Very good product. Sounds great. Very crisp and clean.
I picked up a set of these for my wife's car a 2010 kia soul. Only using the factory amp the difference is night and day. We car now listen to the music instead of just hearing it Crystal clear
Pros: Sound great with not much power @ 50 watts or so
Cons: I haven't found anything
Sounds great, fits perfectly
Thank you for your speakers there great sound awesome in my truck much better then stock .The install was easy the hook-up wires that came with it were so easy thanks for your product . Definitely tell every body about you and your products thanks again ??
Pros: Easy install sound great way better then stock love them
Great sound and easy install. The installation mounts did not fit perfectly in the door, some work was done with metal "extenders" I suppose they are and I managed to get them mounted easily in the car. They sound great for the price. I would buy them again.
Pros: Easy install. Everything I needed. Good sound.
Cons: Didn't fit the mounting location, but included parts allowed me to install confidently.
Great sound and great price. Very well rounded and clear sound out of this 3 way speaker. Would recommend to anyone upgrading their factory system.
Great speakers for the price.
Pros: Sound great
Great replacements for stock speakers, great range and quality of sound without having to use an auxiliary amp.
Pros: Sound quality and price would be hard to beat.
great fit , quick shipping,easy install............................thanks again
Sounds great. Easy to install. Sound much better than the factory setup.
Pros: Great sound.
Cons: Installation screws too long needed to be trimmed to fit in my car.
Awesome speakers! Sound better than factory. Easy installation.
Received the speakers and liked the packaging and look of the speakers. Going to be a great gift for my brother-n-laws Camero
Pros: Like the look of the speakers
Cons: Nun thus far
Installed to replace OEM speakers in 2015 Honda Civic Sedan. Two pairs, front and back. Noticeably improved sound and clarity. Can't beat the price.
These are good factory replacement speakers. Would characterize them as natural sounding, if a little "bright". But not harsh like titanium and metal tweeters can be. I'm not running any lows to them so cannot comment on that.
Pros: Natural sound.
Cons: A little bright. May need to run them "flat" or adjust your EQ to compensate.
I'm happy I bought these speakers from Crutchfield. The free install kit saves me time and money.
Pros: Great sound, I'll enjoy driving my car more on my 200 miles commute everday :-)
Cons: none so far
Great speakers for the price. Full sound, good base for a 6.5 inch speaker.
I'm sorry to say there's zero difference between these and the original, terrible, Subaru Forester speakers. The reason I'm giving 2 stars vs 1 is that maybe it's the radio's fault and not the speakers. Giant waste of money.
Cons:Crutchfield response on November 30, 2016 Aftermarket speakers, like these Rockford Fosgates, often require more power to be effective. Factory radios often don't have the power output to do aftermarket speakers justice. When distortion occurs, many times it can be mistaken as a problem with the speakers, but it can actually be a weak amplifier, like the one in a factory radio, having trouble delivering the power that the speakers require. This is when upgrading the radio or adding an amp really allow speakers to sound their best.
I got these a day ahead of schedule. Everything I needed to do install. With the wiring harnesses it was a breeze. 1st door took about a half hour second door took 20min. Awesome clarity not as much as I would've liked in the way of mid bass. It's ok though bc I have 2 12s to make up for it. So very pleased and would recommend them for an upgrade from factory speakers or to add some range to your mids.
Pros: Mid tweeter and high tweeter add an awesome clarity to mids. Low impedance makes for great hook up to factory or aftermarket setup.
Cons: Not much in the way of midrange bass
SOUND GOOD LOOK GOOD FIT PERFECTLY. GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY.
Pros: PRICE IS RIGHT
Cons: POLKS SOUND BETTER BUT COST MORE. SO NOT REALLY A CON
Quality For Price is above normal. sound great.
These helped balance my car's audio amazingly. And thanks to Crutchfield, I didn't need to sift through the Internet to find the exact mounting brackets for my car.
Wow what a difference over the factory 6x9s. Install was easy. Plenty of you tube videos available to watch how to. No problem at all. Sounds brighter, clear and crisp. I also have the non Sony set up. What a difference!
Pros: Too many to list!
Excellent, balanced sound for a great price.
Pros: Reasonably priced. Very good sound.
Great product, nice sound, If you are looking for extreme bass you won't get it with these... But for what I was needing them for they are perfect....
Pros: Price, Looks and clear sound
Cons: no bass
Perfectly matched speakers for the aftermarket stereo I installed in my 2001 Tahoe. The sound is like night and day compared to the OEM speakers. Very little "modification" required to install in the rear doors (just foam tape to prevent possible vibration between the door cut-out and speaker frame). These speakers sound great and I highly recommend them if you are looking for great sound at a very affordable price, in your 16 year old vehicle,
Pros: Excellent product!
Upgraded from the OEM fronts on my 2011 Forester and they are easily the best car speakers I've ever heard. I don't need the thump from bigger speakers or subs, just some crisp highs and a speaker that can handle enough of the lows to surprise me once and a while, and these things deliver time and time again. Would recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their factory speakers. Crutchfield's install instructions for speakers leaves a little to be desired (especially in the area of how the speaker mounting brackets are positioned and used with aftermarket speakers), but I fumbled through the first door in about an hour from start to finish and the second door was done in 25 minutes. I've never done this before, so your mileage may vary.
Pros: Insanely good sound
The speaker definitely is an upgrade from the ones that came with the car.
Pros: Price, Sounds quality
Cons: Not the speaker fault but adapter kit did not fit, had to drill new holes in door.
For the money you really can't go wrong with these at all! I would definitely go with these again and you can never go wrong with the brand! Sound amazing!
Sound great. Easy install. Just had to drill a few holes as per instructions.
Pros: Quality product
great price, sounds good even with factory radio
Clean crisp sound but absolutely no bass. Subwoofer is definitely recommend
Pros: Clean and crisp sound
Cons: No bass
They sound great can't wait for the rest to go in
Good quality product and crisp, clear sound.
Pros: Good quality product and crisp, clear sound.
Cons: Mounting holes on flanges are not direct fit for factory bezel. Slight modification of holes is required to get a good fit along with removal of two plastic ears on factory bezel.
I was very pleased with this set of speakers! The factory speakers quit in my 2008 Avalanche, which I later learned is common in these 2007-2014 trucks and suv's. After a lengthy conversation with Cosmo choosing a suitable replacement speaker I ordered these. I had a very easy time installing, due to the free mounting brackets and wiring harnesses. These speakers perform well and went in easily.
Pros: Sound great for a factory replacement
Cons: No known cons
Great product, easy install, great service, I will buy more
Pros: All good
Amazing sound, much better than the Pioneer speakers they replaced.
when i received the speakers the actual sizes is 6.5" the websites says 6 3/4" had to return product. Don't fully trust the site saying they will fit.
Cons: didn't fitCrutchfield response on August 23, 2016 Note: Rockford Fosgate describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake, we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker. Car speaker sizing can be one of most confusing things we deal with on a daily basis here at Crutchfield, and it helps to think of speakers in categories instead of sizes. An example is the 6-3/4" speaker size. It's not just about the size of the speaker's frame; it also has to do with the mounting hole pattern on the speaker. Measuring a speaker will never yield the same number as its category. To help our customers, we decided to take the measurements we took from speaker locations in various vehicles and translate that into what fits from the measurements we actually take from the speakers we sell. We hoped to eliminate some of the confusion and not mislead customers. This is why we included the above note on these speakers.
Good product matches my subs great.
These speakers sound awesome and were a breeze to install. Especially with the free mounting brackets and wiring harness that you get with the order. Total time it took was around 20 minutes for both front doors.
Pros: . great sound . Easy install . Price
Cons: . Couldn't find anything.
I bought two pairs of these speakers to replace factory 6 1/2" speakers in the front and rear doors (4 total). The factory speakers had pretty solid low-end response, but when pushing low frequencies, would muddle the mids and highs. As I was not in the market for the most expensive speaker I could buy, and being a prior consumer of Rockford Fosgate equipment, I thought I would give these a shot, and at a $49 price point, I figured I could not go wrong. I also complemented the install with Rockford Fosgate R1TS 1" tweeters (which I adore). Couple of caveats: 1) I am not running an amp, and 2) I am still utilizing the factory deck from the ILX (which has some power). Also in the car is the factory 10" woofer in the rear deck. Upon finalizing installation (which went swimmingly with the included gear) and cranking up the sound, I immediately recognized a clarity that was not present before. Frequencies once muddled were now coming through crystal clear. They are LOUD, but I feel I may have lost a bit of low-end that the factory speaker would hit. Not much loss, and not enough to whine about it profusely, but it is slightly noticeable. The factory woofer still cranks it out, so no major loss. What is paying off in spades is the sheer quality of the sound, with no distortion. Coupled with the 1" tweeters, it's a match made in heaven, and I am glad I upgraded.
Pros: Crystal-clear mids and highs, ample lows when paired with speakers which carry the heavy share of bass, attractive speakers and speaker trim (although I did not use the grills), quality materials, easy installation. No regrets.
Cons: Do not buy if you are looking for rumbling bass. They have some "punch" and are great speakers coupled with a bass-providing pair of larger speakers, but might slightly disappoint if you are looking to shake mirrors.
These speakers are great the sound is very crisp and clear.
went in easy. sound better than factory speakers. I only did the rear decks would like to do the doors as well to get a better feel for them.
When buying a 3 way speaker, you expect to have more response from low, mid and high ranges. These speakers provide good crisp mid and high but absolutely no low end response whatsoever. Literally none. My stock speakers weren't as crisp as these, but they had much better low end response. Think carefully about what you want these speakers to accomplish. If you're pairing them with something in your vehicle that will cover the low end, like a subwoofer, then they could be a nice addition. If you are looking to replace your stock speakers without adding a subwoofer - these will thoroughly disappoint you.
Pros: Crisp Highs, shallow depth for install, good build quality
Cons: Absolutely no bass whatsoever.
I had asked a friend, who is very handy around cars, to help be install the speakers. I received a set of detailed instructions from Crutchfield via email and decided I would tackle the project myself. In less than 20 minutes I had both door panel removed and uninstalled the old speakers. I received the new speakers the next day and installed them and replaced the door panel. It was no problems at all thanks to the easy to follow instructions. Thanks Crutchfield. Oh!, the speakers sound great and are a perfect match for my camper van.
Pros: Great detailed instructions made the job a breeze. Sound quality is great and a big improvement over factor installed speakers.
Cons: I had to tell my friend he didn't have a chance to help.
Disappointed with the clarity
So far very satisfied with these speakers. Sound quality is excellent and they were very easy to install.
I replaced the stock speakers in the front doors of my Sierra with these. I had to drill a few holes to mount them but that was explained in the install instructions from Crtuchfield. Big improvement over the time ravaged stock speakers.
I was looking for an affordable upgrade to my wife's stock speakers in her '06 Corolla and the Rockford Fosgate R165x3 fit the bill. They were simple to install with the included speaker mounts and wiring harness. Truly plug and play. Doesn't get any easier than that. This is why I only buy car audio equipment from Crutchfield. Everything you need is in the box, including instructions. Nice sound upgrade from stock. Will do rear doors soon.
Pros: Price. Ease of installation. Great sound over stock.
I bought these on recommendation of the Crutchfield tech. I was originally looking for a Stock speaker replacement for my front door speakers on my Silverado. These Rockford Fosgates Suck. The Mid-Range is Overwhelming. The Highs are not Crisps! And most of all, there is NO Bass!! Sadly, my stock speakers were much better. I am going to return these or sell them and possibly look in the Salvage yard for stock SILVERADO speakers.
Pros: Low price for a High end brand.
Cons: Zero bass Mid-range is too much, overwhelming Highs are not Crisps.
These RF's were an easy, affordable upgrade for my factory speakers. Very satisfied.
Pros: Wiring harnesses were very convenient.
Cons: Speaker adapters needed some modification to fit.
Very impressed with the sound quality of the speakers. Since I have little experience installing electrical equipment I was happy that the installation was simple and straightforward.
Pros: Sound quality, ease of installation.
Cons: Speaker grills won't fit behind the factory ones.
Replaced broken factory speakers. Sounds great and added bass.
This Speakers are a great addition to your sound system, whether it be for a complete new sound system or just replacing the factory speakers. I replaced my blown out factory speakers and now I feel like Im throwing a party in my truck haha. Quality of this Rockford Speakers is great, far greater than expected but then again there was so much to choose from in this website. Pretty soon i will be upgrading my stereo. You can never go wrong with any set of rockford speakers. Easy install and they kick a good base too!
Pros: Great sound Quality, easy install,
Cons: None yet
Bought for my truck along with bafles to protect them. Bought two pairs for front and back. Back ones went on like butter but the front ones my window hit when rolled all the way down, had to run little spacers so that they wouldn't touch or cause issues. Love the sound and though they won't shatter windows that's not why I purchased them. Bought them to have nice sound on a budget and they certainly deliver.
Pros: Sound quality and features
Cons: Could have better bass but overall not bad
They sound great, I couldn't believe the difference they made. Good sound for a good price.
These sound great, properly equalized. The drivers are larger than 6.5" but fit into 1/2 factory mounts.
Pros: These hit hard (for their size) without distortion even on 14watt RMS. They are only 6.5ish in size but the bass is accurate and the highs aren't harsh. Please give them a few hours or so to let them relax before making up your mind. I opened up my door panels and cut out the plasic grills to get the sound OUT. Factory speakers are a joke compaired to most anything but these look well built and sound really good. There is more surface area than typical 6.5 drivers.
Cons: I cant say much bad about them unless they only last a year. They are sturdy and accurate. I have them in a cargo work truck with tons of road noise. They do need equalizer TLC to sound best.
Speakers arrived as promised and well packaged. It required drilling 4 holes to mount them as the originals were snapped into place. I was glad to purchase the wiring adapter since all I had to do is plug in the new speakers and they worked great. For the price they are much better that the factory. I would definitely recommend them.
Pros: Easy to install and play great
Cons: Had to drill 4 holes to mount
Pros: Way better sound than stock. Great speakers.
I got these to replace my factory door speakers and i am very happy with the way they sound. They didn't have as much bump as the factory 6.5's did but the sound quality is 100% better, for the price i recommend to any one. thank you Crutchfield.
Pros: Good crisp sound with my aftermarket deck.
Cons: None so far
The speakers sound great
Pros: Fit easily and sound good and the even gave all the hardware needed
Great sound, very easy install. But after 14 months 1 speaker died. Naturally, after manufacturer's warranty expired. I'm an older guy, don't blast the radio. Perhaps I just got unlucky, but you might want to look at a different brand.
Great improvement at a great price. You would think a $50,000 Highlander with a JBL system would kick but it stunk. For less than $100 4 speakers brought it to life. Thank you to the Crutchfield team leading me to what I needed
Cons: Installation instructions in box poor
Great sounds easy install
For the price can't complain.
Pros: Not a bad entry level speaker
Cons: The tweets are bright I mean bright I was a little upset, that Cructhfield said they would send all the install gear..... I didn't receive the speaker brackets to make it even easier to install and when I chatted online I was told yeah, you don't need them..... I know I don't need them but it was a major deciding factor of going with Crutchfield.
speakers sound great and duper fast FREE delivery.
Bought two sets of these on special. Crutchfield "stuff for my vehicle" said they wouldn't fit in the rear doors but other sets of the same size speakers would so I gambled and ordered for both anyway. Pleasantly surprised to say they fit with absolutely no issues. Sound quality out of these guys is about a thousand times better than the stock paper cones. Bass hits moderately hard for a 6.5/6.75 inch 3-way speaker, in fact we have rattles in the door that annoy now because these are shaking stuff loose. Highs on these sound great, we have none of the "flatness" mentioned in other reviews. 45RMS/90 watts peak is a lot for the small cabin they went into and they absolutely fill it with sound. Bear in mind that speakers only pound out the sound that is sent to them, so an underpowered or poor quality deck may make these sound worse than the "matched" speakers that came stock. Paired with a Kenwood deck these sound brilliant.
Pros: Great price (on special). Loud. Crisp clear highs, decent lows/bass for their size.
Perfect do,easy installation,sound awesome!!
Pros: Sound good with stock radio, way better than factory speakers, awesome price and free install gear!
I am kind of blown away as these speakers don't even come close to sounding as good as the 16 year old stock paper coned factory speakers that my truck came with. I was so underwhelmed that I pulled one of the Rockfords and replaced it w/ the factory paper cone speaker and listened to a HUGE variety of music, styles and genres, as well as songs that I had written/engineered/mastered (so I know what I am suposed to be hearing). All the while over a few hour period I was panning left to right to left... and to my amazment the Rockfords had so little low end that I could barley even hear the bass guitar at all in most songs. Also the low end that they did posses was really spiky (sharp, in really narrow frequency pockets: actually more like thin envelopes of unpleasant bass) The high end also had it's own angular coloring. Historically, I have always heard a huge improvement when replacing stock speakers. So this was really strange to me. I expected to at the very least have even a slight improvement. btw I am running an Alpine head unit. I sent the speakers back.
Pros: Brand name reminds me of Jim Rockford
Cons: They sound like angular poo. I really wanted to like them but even my 16 year old son picked the old paper coned factory speaker as sounding better in a blind test.
Great fit for 2008 Chevy Silverado
Overall pretty good, easy install, good sound. Arrived in good condition extra hardware and wiring.
Pros: Good quality for the price easy intall
Cons: Looses clarity at higher volume, sounds almost out of phase on the treble and lots of mid range distortion for a separate low/mid range cone
I installed a kenwood reciever and 4 speakers in my Silverado crew cab pickup. receiver instructions were right on and install was easy and quick. speakers were a different story I needed my owners manual to take door panels off correctly, the instruction also seemed to be a mixed up on the front and back speakers. I have installed several car stereos before and instructions have always been right on, not sure what happened this time.
Good replacement for factory speakers in my 2004 Lexus RX330, especially considering the $40 price. Adapters and wire leads provided by Crutchfield worked just fine.
Pros: Good sound quality, easy to install
Cant be beat for the price. Replaced rear door speakers in my Escalade. Much better sound than the stock paper Bose
Excellent sound at a great low price. I bought 2 speakers to replace a bad factory front speaker. They sound so good that I'm going to replace the back speakers.
Bought these for my 2000 Saturn LS1 and I love them. Any one with a Saturn L series take note: Be sure to remove the speaker grilles or the door panels will not go back on properly
Pros: Sweet sounding with crisp sound detail I did not hear with factory speakers.
Cons: Speaker grilles need removed for proper fit.
I give them five stars for their price range. These are low-power speakers meant for OEM replacement, running directly from the head unit (no external amplifier). They sound dramatically better than the OEM speakers they replaced. You'll need to make use of the stereo's EQ to (try) to level out the frequency response, as they have a few very hot & cold spots. After EQ, they are quite good.
Pros: They sound great running off the head unit, installation was easy. They're a great speaker for the price.
Cons: Praise is "for the price" - you're not paying a lot, so it's only fair to say they'll probably be better than the speakers the factory inflicted on you.
Bought these for my 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500. They sound great and put the stock speakers to shame. Installation wasn't too bad either.
Pros: Sound. Price
Simply put amazing sound so worth the money
Pros: Sound awesome easy install
I used to always buy Rockford Fosgate amps and speakers long before the company had been bought out. I wasn't sure if the sound quality would good with these or not. While these speakers would fall short of the some of the systems that I have put together over the years, they are a far better speaker than the price tag would indicate. I installed these in my daily driver in the front pannels and was very impressed with the upgrade over the stock car speakers. Would highly recommed as a cheap upgrade to stock or even for a low budget starter system.
Pros: Good sound for the money.
Cons: The outer lip of the mounting flange could be just a bit wider for the reuse of the factory screws.
Bought these on sale for my 2011 Honda Odyssey. The install guidance from Crutchfield helped tremendously; however, the screws the RF provided were too long for the Scosche brackets provided. In order to prevent drilling holes in the metal door, I opted to cut the screws to length with my pneumatic cutoff tool. I then had to taper the ends on my bench grinder so they would go into the brackets. A note about the brackets the clips at the bottom that set into the door are delicate; I broke one off and will now need to use some 3M two-way tape to make sure it stays. My order was shorted some of the electrical connectors, so I could not install the rear doors yet. Will do that soon. The sound quality between the RF and stock is night and day.
Pros: Crutchfield install guidance great; sound quality great.
Cons: screws too long; brackets break easily.
I used these to replace the stock door speakers in my 07 g6 and let me tell you! The stock speakers were junk, flimsy paper and were sounding like garbage. These speakers obviously appealed to me because of the price but the reviews helped. Super easy install thanks to the wiring harness and brackets included. The sound has improved tremendously. For cheaper speakers they can handle some bass.
Pros: Easy install Sounds awesome
These speakers sound great for the price and fit my chevy equinox rear panels to a T. With the instruction that were provided and adaptors that were also provide it was very easy and pain free installation. Only took about 15 mins todo both sides
For the price these can't be beat. Installed in both the rear and front of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra without issues. Reuse the stock speaker mounts! Mine were riveted in and the adapters that came with the speakers would not work with 6.5 inch speakers. They would work with 5.25 inch but if your factory mounts are riveted in it's not worth the trouble of removing them.
Pros: Greatly improved sound at a great price
Easy installation, sounds great
Replaced blown factory speakers. They sound great and were easy to install, just had to drill new mounting holes. I need to replace my reciever to see how they really sound!
Pros: Great sound and easy install.
Cons: None so far.
These are amazing sounding door speakers! I love them, for anyone who might not want to spend that much money, but wants to get clear crisp sound quality.
Pros: Great sound Even better price reliable
Great factory replacement. Add's alot of depth to the music.
I purchased four of these as a replacement for my stock factory speakers. They sound great and were a worth while investment. They deliver a full range of sound with surprisingly deep base tones. I would definitely recommend this product.
Pros: Dynamic sound range, size and good bass.
Cons: None at the moment.
Though Toyotas pop rivets can increase installation times, it was nothing for some shears and a drill. The mounting bracket lined up perfectly and they sound 100 times clearer than stock speakers. Teamed up with a pioneer head unit and two 12s, these 6 1/2s can help anything coming through a hpf.
Pros: Great value
Cons: Through a head unit they sound great, not so sure they can handle amps
Speakers were installed in friends Kia Sorrento. Thanks to Crutchfield's instructions it was an easy install. The speakers sound great. Very happy dealing with Crutchfield and will continue to use them in the future.
Excellent upgrade from factory speakers. They sound great
Pros: Outstanding sound!
I needed these to replace the old, blown out speakers in my dad's truck. Not only does he have his radio back, but they sound better than the originals ever did! I'm a fan.
Pros: Price. Power handling matched well to factory radio.
Cons: I probably wouldn't use these with a larger amp.
Installed 4 in a Yaris Hatchback. For the price they are a Super value and improved the sound quality 100x. I am very impressed with the improvement and they are well worth the money
Pros: Really nice speaker set for a great price
Install went well but I dislike factory wiring. Had to find the right connection and I was good!
Pros: Nice affordable speaker.
Cons: Factory wiring added more time to install
great sound, not enough bass from the speakers, gonna go with pioneer next time around
Great speakers for the price. Clear sound and fit perfectly. Thanks crutchfield.
Pros: complete ready to install package. Screw through kick plate.
Cons: full range
I replaced the door speakers in my wife's 2007 Tahoe with these. I am extremely happy with the sound quality and how easy it was to do a direct replacement of her stock speakers.
Pros: Easy install, sound quality
Cons: Screws were way too long.
Great item for the price. Replaced stock for Nissan Maxima 1997. There were some tricky things regarding installation on the rear speakers but online videos and calling technicians from Crutchfield for assistance made this a doable weekend project.
Pros: You get what you pay for, good quality, much better than stock
Cons: Installation might be tricky
Really good factory replacements. Mids, and Highs very nice. Bass could be better with an additional amplifier or a better deck.
Pros: Nice sound, good for the money paid
Great factory replacement product at a great price. Better than factory sound. Installation instructions were perfect, made for a simple DIY job. Thanks once again, Crutchfield.
Pros: Good sound, good price, easy to follow install instructions
Upgraded to these RF in my 95' Legacy Wagon. I'm running 4 tweeters through a custom modded amp (upgraded film and electrolytic caps for improved clarity and more accurate SQ) along with an Alpine R 10" and Kicker L5 12" (have a wider dynamic presence with a 10" and 12"- sounds more natural vs. two 10's or 12's) powered by an old school Sony. High pass was always controlled at HU for doors, which were factory full-range paper cones. At low to middle-low volumes, the RF sound similar to the factory pieces they replaced. Push volume louder and they really wake up. This is where it pays to have 91db SPL as they'll hit higher db with less wattage, which in this case is the Pioneer HU. They stay surprisingly clear until you push them a little too hard, where it induces a ringing effect (around +54 volume with loudness high, SLA +4, etc.) Keeping eyes open for a 4 channel old school SQ amp around 50wpc to get the most of these. People griping about these either have a lousy HU, amp, or don't understand how to properly set them up, are running only 2 of them, etc. etc. They don't make bass. PERIOD. So don't expect that from them. You should set high pass to around 100Hz and HIGHER. You'll get a little tight mid-bass, but nothing more. I have 8Khz at -6, 3Khz around 0, 1.25k +3. My amped tweeters pick up the rest. Excellent buy these RF.
Pros: 91 db SPL helps them get louder with less wattage (wouldn't push them beyond 50w); Clear going loud which is where they shine; Highs are a little bright and artificial IF you crank the 3Khz - 10Khz range up expecting their tweeters to supply only highs, but are OK with secondary amped tweeters; Suggest replacing factory electrolytic cap with a same spec (voltage and capacitance) Elna Silmic II (for more warmth) or Cerafine (more accurate clarity) as they cost $1 each online (reputable outlets)
Cons: NOT bass speakers so get over it. Bass they do make is around 100Hz and higher despite being advertised lower, so set highpass filter to 100Hz or 125 Hz and invest in bass speakers. Highs are OK but overly bright if you set high freq. to far. Suggest lowering high freq. and running secondary tweeters via a small amp. Makes a world of difference. Pushing too hard introduces ringing, meaning you should back off volume a bit. If highpass is ignored and you crank the high freq., it'll hurt sound.
Sounds good at high volume. Installed easily in a 2002 Blazer pushed by a Pioneer head unit.
Great clarity and precision, major upgrade from stock speaks
Pros: Ease of installation, crisp delivery of all ranges and perfect fit
Cons: My doors were the challenge! Not the speakers
Perfect fit. Sound awesome!
Awesome for the price. They sound great in the front doors. Very clear high and mid, but not a ton of bass- to be expected, I think. Could not be easier to install- took about 10 minutes.
Pros: Highs and mids, ease of install
nice speaker little time to install and great sound
Pros: recommend this speaker for any one looking to buy low cost speaker for there car good quality and sound
Great sound. Great value.
Was pretty disappointed with how they handle at mid loud levels. They sound good at low level though.
bought these for my 2000 S10 regular cab to replace the door speakers. The fit perfect with no modification to my vehicle other than the old screw holes didn't line up. Sound great!
Pros: Sound Quality, Price
Got these to replace my blown door speakers in my 2010 Camaro. Once installed, I was slightly dissapointed they are not much of an improvement from OEM. I had to make several calls to Crutchfield CS. Brackets are no where near as thick as OEM, CS told me to cut all the tabs out of the inside of the bracket to make speaker fit. The wiring harness they included would not fit in the OEM harness so they sent an alternate, but they ended up being almost exactly the same and did not fit either. Had to cut small "v's" in their harness to make it squeeze into the OEM. The mounting screws they included were an 1 1/2" too long and hit door opening, had to buy shorter ones at the hardware store, Also used some double sided tape to secure the speaker to the bracket to ensure there was no rattle.
Pros: affordable replacement. quick delivery.
Cons: a lot of modification needed to be done to make work. Had to wait extra time to install, for the replacement harness that didn't work either.Had to get my own screws to clear opening. Not much if any of an upgrade vs OEM.
Great sounding factory replacements
Pros: Sound quality and ease of installation.
Cons: Minor modifications to complete installation
Replace stock rear deck speakers in 2014 Camry. At the same time used RF Prime 169x3 for the doors. Both sets powered by the Alpine Power Pack. I like the sound from the 6x9's , but was unimpressed with the 6.750". They just felt muddled. No clear high, mid, or lows. Felt it was a step down from the fronts. I ended up replacing them with Kicker CS67 6.750" coaxial. Felt more bass response, albeit still nothing like the 6x9's upfront, and clearer highs and mids. I personally fell the the extra $20 is worth it for the kickers. Maybe I had a bad set, who knows.
Cons: no real clear sound. sounds muddled.
These speakers have a really great balanced sound. They lows are low and highs are high. I believe the mid-range is good too, but it's hard to tell because I installed some Jensen 6 1/2" in the back of my vehicle and they are all high, no mid or low sounds. I wish I would have gone with two more of these, but I tried to save a few bucks with the Jensens which I now regret.
I purchased these to replace my factory 07 tundra door speakers. I was a little disappointed not much of a sound difference. Look like I need to get a sub woofer to enhance some bass.
Pros: Easy to install,
Cons: Screws that came with the speakers are a bit long, very close to the window when it is rolled down.
Replaced my factory speakers in a new 2014 Ford Focus SE 6-speaker setup. Had these professionally installed with baffles, keeping the factory stereo. Significant upgrade over factory speakers. These speakers exceeded my expectations.
Pros: Cost, brand reputation.
Great product, shipping and customer service from Crutchfield
Pros: Sound, Price, and Customer Service
Just got these installed today in my car, and were installed by professionals. They sound amazing so far im impressed with rockford and these new speakers.
Pros: Great buy for the price. You won't regret it. No rattling what so ever.
Cons: None so far.
I put four in my wife's 06 equinox. They sound great and are a huge improvement over the stock factory speakers.
Pros: easy installation, great sound
Bought these for replacement speakers primarily because of the name. I was not let down. Great sound in all ranges. Easy installation, everything was included. Having everything shipped to me and not having to run around is nice.
Pros: Good sound, easy installation.
Excellent Replacement for the Door Speakers for my 2001 S-10 ZR2
Pros: Good Fit Excellent sound
Sound is much improved
Bought these to replace the stock front door speakers in my '03 Matrix. At this point the OEM speakers were 12 years old, so they sounded terrible, but the Rockford Fosgate Prime R65X3 are far better than what I remember the stock speakers sounded when new. There is absolutely more bass than before and the tweeters deliver crisp highs. The mid-range required some tweaking with the equalizer, but every car requires some optimization. After drilling out the rivets holding in the stock speakers, the Primes fit perfectly. Crutchfield provided adaptor rings and a wiring harness and everything fit as designed. The screws on the adaptor ring were a bit long, but usable if you take up the space with a few extra washers (pick some up before you begin if you don't have any). I've had them in about 3 weeks now and now that they have broken in they are really beginning to shine. Tempted to replace the rear speakers now!
Pros: Perfect fit. Crutchfield supplied accessories spot on. Sound fantastic
Cons: Adaptor ring mounting screws a bit too long. Nothing serious. Adaptor ring perfect (must knock out tabs on inner ring for speaker to fit-again, no big deal).
I put them in my wife's scion and she loves them and were still running the stock deck and no amp YET so I think there a great deal.
Pros: They have a great even sound to them.
Cons: NONE yet
crisp clear sound was what i was after and got it with the pair. far and beyond better than factory stuff
Pros: crisp clear sound
Cons: no neg comments on these speakers
These speakers sound really good with just an aftermarket head unit and no amp. They are crisp sounding and i replaced factory speakers that have been in my 96 pathfinder since factory that were crumbling away, so big difference.
Pros: Good sound, good price, well built.
Cons: Do dont fit flush with my front doors factory speaker mount but it still worked
Installed these in a 99 Saturn SL with no issue. Dropped right in and no drilling required. Overall, these sound pretty good. The bass is present and the midrange is good, but the highs are sometimes a little unpleasant. This may have more to do with source audio quality and equalizer settings on my head unit, though. For the price, this is a no-brainer, 10x better than stock solution. I should've done it sooner.
Pros: Easy to install, very loud, clear, inexpensive
I purchased these for my son for his birthday. Somehow his 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer was missing the right front speaker when he bought it. I had them sent to him in Kansas and I sent an array of tools he would need. Unfortunately he was not sent an installation sheet. He is not a mechanical person but got it done with minimal drama. All the parts provided made for a seamless installation. He states that they are much louder and clearer than the "speaker" they replace.
Pros: Nice price, good sound, all accessories needed to install properly.
Cons: No instructions sent on how to remove the door panels.
These speakers are great if you have a sub, I replaced my rear speakers in my Saturn sedean with these Primes and the sound is very crisp, if you limit the bass these speakers will take care of the rest.
Pros: Good sound, easy set up, not to pricey either.
Cons: Not the strongest mid to low range but you get what you pay for.
I installed Primes in my last 3 vehicles and was blown away by their performance and range. The R165X3 model has been a serious disappointment. Mid's and lows are non existent and the highs sound like they are coming from an in dash 1 inch tweeter verses an aftermarket semi performance 6.5 inch door speaker. Go for the component version for better overall range and performance.
Pros: Economical and better upper range than factory.
Cons: No mid to low range
VERY good sound quality
Pros: Decent price Sounds amazing Love the full spectrum
great sound from a low cost product. A definite upgrade from the factory speakers.
Pros: low cost, good range of sound.
Cons: cant really think of anything.
Easy replace in 2002 1500 regular cab. Tricky to remove crank window handle.
Bought these based on a friend recommendation to replace the oems on the front doors of a 2014 Kia Rio hatch and the difference is night and day. I can enjoy music now even with the stock headunit. The clarity of sound it's really really good sure the bass is a bit weak but that's what a sub is for.
Pros: The sound is really good even with a OEM headunit. Songs in my playlist sound 100% better now
Cons: Should have included OEM wiring harness
These speakers are good and very easy to install with all the extras you get with them thanks to Crutchfield .
Pros: A good quality speaker , easy to install , good Mids and Highs.
I bought these speakers for my dad's car to replace the built-in speakers the car came with. I did not want to spend a lot of money so I purchased the lowest price speakers. After installing they sound great. The sound is so much clearer and I hear the highs and lows a lot better.
Pros: Great sound
Put these in the Toyota Camry 2002 and the highs and miss are noticeably better. Able to reach higher volumes and waaaay clearer than the stock. Bass is okay, but isn't that what amps are for? The bass from the stock was actually better than these but I bought a powered amp fire better lows.
Pros: Clarity, highs, mids
Cons: Lacks bass
These speakers are great, they hit nice and work way better with an amp. These speakers are recommend highly by me and should be used by an amp for even better output.
Pros: Nice super clean sound.
I bought these for my 2001 Toyota tundra after I bought and installed a new pioneer cd player, and found I was living in the factory speaker dark ages. A quick look online at crutchfield, and after talking to ANN, she helped me pick out these speakers. I was blown away by the night and day difference of these speakers over the stock factory speakers. I had read some of the reviews about no bass, but these sound great and have good bass!. I would recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade from substandard factory speakers!.
Pros: Great sound with good bass, easy installation, worth every penny!!!.
Cons: No cons that I can think of.
Speakkers replaced stock door speakers on a 2001 chevy silverado. They fit perfect. They say to drill new holes but that is not really necessary. I used self taping sheetmetal screws and had them installed in no time. They are much better sounding than the stock blown out speakers ( even before they were blown out) I do find them a touch boomy, but the radios equalizer was able to help compensate for that.
Pros: Decent bass plus better treble than stock
Awesome little speaker! Paired with dual 8" Kicker subs, they rock my Tundra! Always been pleased with Rockford products and Crutchfield make the installation SO easy even a caveman could do it!!!
Pros: Perfect fit Ease of installation Affordable
My dad and uncle set my 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport with these and set my base so that it will never break no matter how loud I turn the volume. It sounds beautiful and haven't had a problem in the month since I bought them so far. They look stunning as well too.
Pros: Looks high quality Sounds high quality Easy to install
Cons: Makes me want to get front speakers to match
Have had these speakers for about 6-7 days and they work great! Put them in the doors of my 98 ext cab silverado when I installed my new head unit(Clarion cz302) and am not sorry for my choice. Had a decent amount of bass for a 6.5" inch speaker out of the box and its improving daily as they break in. Noticed in a few of the previous reviews that some found them to have no bass at all but that's absolutely not the case here. If you keep in mind what these are which is a 6.5" door speaker and not a 12" sub I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. With that being said I'm 45, so earth shattering bass isn't at the top of my list but good clean sound is and that's what I get with these. Tight little thump on the low end, nice crisp mids and highs on the other, couldn't ask for more especially at this price! These guys really seem to wake up when you lean on them with a little bit of volume so can't wait to get the Clarion xc1410 amp put in when it gets here along with the RF Punch 6x9's that are on the way as I write this. Will update when everything is in and going. Should be a decent sounding set up at a more than reasonable price, at least for this "old" guy lol. Thanks Crutchfield!!!
A major improovement over the stock speakers. I have had them in about a week. Only criticism I have is the base response could be better, but sounds fine to my ear.Note also I have the stock amp driving these speakers and an upgrade here may make the slight shortfall in base response better. I installed these speakers in a 2007 Silverado extended cab new body style, (front doors).
Pros: So far speakers seem like a good Quality speaker that i am happy with so far.
Cons: Speakers may have a slight weakness in base response if driving base response is what you are looking for,but overall I am happy With them so far.
Had these Rockford speakers In for a few weeks now. They sound so much better then stock pushing them with a new pioneer FH-X700BT head unit amp and sup coming soon. Also have Rockford compets in doors.
Pros: Great sounding speaker for the price and fast delivery.Cant wait to hear what they sound like when I get the amp hooked up...
Cons: None so far.
The three way really does it. The instructions Crutchfield included let me swap out all 4 door speakers in a 2013 Cmax Tundra in about an hour. This speaker also sounds sooo good. People that gripe about the lack of low end..please. It's a 6-3/4". Not a 10" sub. Just get it.
Fantastic speakers very nice base and really clear sound
This speakers have a lot of potential to deliver clear and crisp sound however does not produce enough bass to appreciate well my music.
Pros: Clear crisp quality sound
Cons: Does not produced much bass to appreciate its performance
Really sound good !
Love the sound, my 2010 Subaru had stock everything sounded really bad. My husband installed both a new stereo and speakers in my work vehicle. As I drive 1k a week good sound counts. Awesome customer service, excellent delivery, great instructions.
Pros: Awesome sound
Cons: Did not fit into my 2010 Subaru very well. My husband had to use strip ties as the holes did not line up, but after being in there for a month they are holding up and sound great. Thank goodness my husband has the knowledge to improvise.
Great Speakers & Cost! Replaced my stock speakers with these and with Crutchfield's guides, I replaces both within 30 minutes.
Pros: Good Sound, Great Cost! Installation Guides are very helpful!
Cons: None that I've experienced yet
After the new speakers where in they sounded GREAT and very clear.
Pros: deep sound
Great speakers for the price easy install and nice sound
Pros: Nice sound Great price
I am very pleased with the whole process. The speakers are very nice regardless of how good the price was. It is easy to over power the bass with the mid tones and highs, but if you tune those down and bring up the bass a little you can really hear how nice these speakers are. I would buy them again if I needed another set this size.
