I bought these to replace the factory speakers for my factory sound system. The sounds quality is very good. I have heard things in songs that I did not hear with the factory speakers. I was able to replace all four speakers and with the parts needed and it was a good purchase price wise.

Good Stock Upgrade

Anonymous from Monrovia, CA on 7/19/2018

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are some nice speakers. I am replacing stock speakers with these and they fit perfectly with the supplied installation hardware from Crutchfield and just was unable to install the speak with the mesh cover, without the mesh cover over the speak the door panel fit nicely. Sound is good but I'm not really pushing the speaker, everything else is still stock just needed to get rid of that annoying rattle/vibration from my blown speaker.

Pros: Clear crisp sound and ease of installation

Cons: With stock stereo is seems to be quieter than my stock speakers. May require other stereo upgrades to really come alive.

Replaced blown-out front door speakers in a used 2013 Acura TSX. Local guy installed this in less than an hour without issues getting it to fit. Sound is good for me (non-audiophile), might be a little tinny. I'm still tweaking the factory equalizer. Overall I'm happy with this purchase 2 weeks out.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These sound great in the rear side panels of my 2012 Scion TC. Very clear crisp treble, very present midrange, and better bass than I expected. I now have all Rockford Fosgate speakers and amps in my car paired to a Pioneer double din head unit and couldn't be happier!

Pros: Great sound. Rockford Fosgate quality.

Cons: Crutchfield's web site said these would not fit my 2012 Scion TC. I knew they would fit because I had installed speakers in this car before. I had to say I had a different car to get the Toyota brackets and harness. I still love Crutchfield anyway!

Great sound for a budget price! I have always liked Rockford Fosgate gear (my first amp was a 1st Gen. Punch 45 circa 1987). These speakers kick out some great sound! My stock speakers were blown to bits (the surround had shredded and stock speakers suck anyway!) and these were a huge improvement!

Pros: Great sound! Great Price! Super easy to install!

Cons: They refused to install themselves while a drank my beer!

Joe from Mesa, AZ on 7/3/2018

2001 Chevrolet Blazer
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The factory front door speakers were blown and crumbling in my 2001 S10 Blazer. These were ordered to be their replacement. Slightly larger at 6.5" over stock 5.25", they bring fresh new life over the old paper cones. OEM style replacements are $15 each at an auto parts store. These were a few bucks more for the pair, are made by a solid brand, and came with all the adapters needed for the job (thanks, Crutchfield)! Driven by the original Delco stereo, bass is adequate and distortion free (you'll want more power to really make use of these), but the mids and highs are where these really shine. I will definitely be ordering another pair for the rear doors! With the S10/Blazer, I used the plastic speaker mount aready in the door. You'll need new holes for the included screws. A Dremel and 1/8" bit makes fast work of that plastic and the new screws that come with the speaker go right in and hold snugly. Crutchfield sent a PDF of the Master Sheet (a big bonus) days before the speakers came so I could have everything ready. Speaker wiring harnesses are included, so no splicing, soldering/crimping needed. Very impressed with Crutchfield. I'll be ordering the rest of this car's stereo upgrades from here as well!

Pros: Fantastic sound. All adapters for your specific car included, outstanding price and value. Genuinely helpful customer service.

Cons: Depending on your car, you may have to do some drilling, but nothing extreme.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This install was nothing short of a nightmare. The first set was backordered and the shipment made it to my city before it was returned because the address was incorrect. The replacements showed up the next week, except the box had two R152x2s. I sent those back and was sent the right speakers, only the box didn't have the installation hardware that was supposed to come with it (brackets and wiring harness). Once I got those, the bracket does not fit the speaker. The first tech support person told me the bracket was not needed, when the speakers very clearly did not fit without a bracket. The second tech said you do need a bracket, but there are tabs you must break off. None of this is covered in the installation materials. On top of that, the bracket very easily strips out and only 2 of 3 screw holes line up with the holes in the door. Not very confidence inspiring. The most frustrating part us that the provided installation guide is utterly USELESS with nothing more than "remove the old speakers and install the new ones. I guess the only upside is that the speakers sound wonderful.

*Ive done installs on multiple vehicles and this has been the best performance/price ratio I've seen yet* Dropped into my '17 Honda coupe civic with a stock headunit. Didn't even notice the drop in volume that should have came from upgrading without an amp, and the sound quality difference was NIGHT AND DAY. Strongly recommended.

2008 Chevrolet Silverado
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installed in my 2008 Chevy Silverado Crew Cab to replace the factory front door speakers. Awesome sound, great frequency response, and more volume compared to factory. I have bad ears, high frequency hearing loss, so I tend to crank the treble a bit to compensate. This is the first set of speakers I've installed that I actually had to back off the treble from my norm. Lows are also nice and punchy considering they're only 6 1/2" speakers. I like them so well that I ordered another pair for the rear. Installation was simple and straight forward with the included brackets and wiring adapters.

Pros: Easy installation. Great sound. Inexpensive.

Cons: None

Great deal. Minor modification needed for these to fit the toyota adapters provided. You will just need to clip the inner tabs on them(cutting pliers snipped them off pretty good), also smaller screws were needed to mount Speakers to adapters(#8 3/4"). Car is 2008 corolla.

Pros: Great deal, good sound. Included mounting and wire adapters made installation easy and even a better deal.

Cons: Had to wait for more to come in, but worth the wait.

Best money at this price point I ever spent. I was kinda apprehensive when I ordered them because of the low price, but pleasantly surprised at the sound quality. Even with the factory stereo the sound was crisp and clear. The bass response surprised me too. The louder I turn it up the better it sounds. Crutchfield made it easy to install with the supplied wiring harness and easy to follow instructions. You cant beat the free and fast shipping either. All in all I'm very satisfied.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good speaker for crystal clear highs and mids. A bit lacking in bass so if you want bass, will need sub or other speakers. Quality materials with poly woofer and rubber surround so will last a while. Very good value at this price point. Basket a bit larger than other 6.5" speakers but supplied brackets worked like a charm. Seemed more efficient than the claimed 91db since I also installed some Kenwoods rated at 92db and these seem to run louder at mids and highs. Great speakers for the price.

Pros: great value, quality materials, crystal clear mids and highs, great for vocals and guitar.

Cons: not strong for bass.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought it for the rear deck. Good speaker but my mtx 2 way in the door was louder and more highs. I thought this 3 way would (super tweeter?) Speaker only came with long screws like 2 inches long and half of it were sticking out of the bracket which was hitting the metal rear deck only option was to buy shorter screws, throw away the bracket and drill holes, or what I did was cut the screws by half. Which took longer than the installation. Wish the mtx were on sale again to match my fronts and sub. If you can spend more money go with mtx instead.

Pros: Great price, fast shipping

Cons: Not as good as mtx, screws way too long

I bought these to replace the stock speakers in my '02 4Runner. I had recently replaced the original radio with a JVC KW-R935BTS receiver which seemed to have more capability than the old speakers could deliver. These new speakers definitely have move fullness and range. Can't say it's a light-year improvement, but it is noticeable. Installation was extremely easy and fit perfectly into the original location. For the price, I'm very satisfied!

Pros: More depth of sound than old stock speakers. Very easy installation.

Cons: None - for the price point

2002 Saturn LW200
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These are a good replacement for my completely deteriorated factory speakers. Fit was not what I was expecting but I'm okay with it as this is just my daily commuter car. The supplied screws are way too long, so what I did was fit the bracket on the car, turn the speaker until I was satisfied with the fit of the speaker to the bracket and aligned the speaker holes to the bracket holes. I then finger tightened the speaker to the bracket with the four supplied screws, removed the speaker and bracket from the car door and finished "assembling" the bracket to the speaker. I then used a Dremel to cut off any part of the screw extending beyond the supplied Scoshe bracket. Went back to the car, connected the speaker wire to the speaker terminals and fastened the bracket to the door aligning with the factory holes and using the factory speaker screws. Dear Cruthfield tech support, please feel free to add my instructions to your notes.

Pros: Pretty good fit for 2002 Saturn LW200 front door. Sound is excellent.

Cons: Supplied screws are way too long. Extra modification is required.

2000 Chevrolet S10
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got these to replace the OEM front speakers in our 2000 Chevy S10 extended cab pickup. The originals were dead, so in all honesty, any working speakers would be an improvement. I bought these particular 3-way speakers because they were on sale for the same price as similarly sized 2-way speakers. I'm not an audiophile, so I can't vouch for the speaker's output quality. I can only say that they sound good enough for my ears. I will add that Crutchfield's installation instructions states to remove the truck's factory speaker/bracket in order to install these 6-1/2" speakers. However, if I had done that, the speakers would not be able to fit in the door as the window guide would be in the way. Luckily, the factory bracket worked fine. I only needed to drill new mounting holes into the bracket. The Metra 72-4568 Speaker Harness connectors made the electrical connections a breeze!

Pros:

Cons:

2013 Scion xD
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The speakers and brackets fit my 2013 Scion xD perfectly. Original install was just a woofer and the sound had no highs really at all - very dull, deep muffled sound. These three-ways were a huge improvement. Instructions were adequate, but there were a few small steps that weren't included, such as breaking the tabs that aren't needed on the brackets, however it is pretty obvious when you test fit it. There are numerous holes in the speaker frame and when putting the logo level, four holes line up at 0, 90, 180, 270 degrees, but you must put the speaker wire hole at top dead center. Only replaced the front doors, but now considering the back doors. I would buy these again and the sound good with the stock head unit

Pros: Just test fit before you tighten.

Cons: None really!

2001 Saturn L200
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just finished installing these in the front doors of my 2001 Saturn L200. Sound is much improved over stock. Seems like a quality product so far. The stock speaker foam surrounds had disintegrated on the OEM speakers. Long overdue to replace. A couple of comments regarding installation on the L series Saturn: You need to beak out the inner tabs on the adaptor brackets that Crutchfield supplies. A little flexing with a pair of pliers and they snap right off, piece of cake. This is not mentioned in any of the provided literature or online. This particular speaker will not fit unless you do this. Also, you will need to bend in part of the sheet metal on your Saturn L-Series front doors or the speaker will not fit in the hole. See the attached photo for area of interference. The cone shaped metal support on the back of this speaker hits at the bottom and will not sit flush on the adaptor bracket unless you bend the door in. I used channel lock pliers. Vise Grips will also work. I am sure a smaller diameter speaker would not have this problem. You likely will need to mount speaker so that the wiring connectors face forward or that part of speaker will still hit if you mount it at the 6 0'clock position.

Pros: Great OEM replacement at a great price

Cons: Don't fit right in unless modify door inner sheet metal

Huge upgrade from stock. Easy to install with the brackets that Crutchfield generously throws in for free. Much clearer sound than the stock speakers. They look great but in my car I couldnt really see them when I put the door panel back on. You can tell they are made out of much higher quality material than the stock paper speakers. 10/10 would recommend. I plan on buying again.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I expected good quality from Rockford Fosgate, but these speakers exceeded my expectations. I expected to lose a little bass when replacing the factory speakers, but all I lost was the muddy distortion. What's left is clean, rich bass with impressive bass response for a 6.5" speaker. The mids and highs are very accurate without being harsh. I'm running them off the stock head unit and they still produce plenty of full, well-balanced sound. I'm amazed these inexpensive speakers sound so good!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought a truck with a Bose sound system, but one speaker was blown, so I needed to replace it. I've always had great results with Fosgates, and these were no exception. I replaced both Bose door speakers. My head unit was factory and not great, either, so I paired these speakers with a Kenwood DPX502BT. The result is some amazing sound. I still have the rest of the Bose speakers, and the Bose amp, but these speakers sound great. Install was a piece of cake with the wiring harnesses they included at no extra charge - just drilled a couple holes and done. Taking the door panel off was harder and took longer than installing the speakers! And for the price, you seriously can't beat them! And, Crutchfield's customer service is incredible, on top of the great product. The screws they sent for the head unit install kit were too short so I had to run out mid-install and get some longer ones. It was literally the only problem I had with anything. I mentioned it as the only problem when I got a request for a review from Bizrate. Within a few hours, I had an email from Crutchfield offering to pay for the screws I had to go get. When I thanked them and said it wasn't necessary (they were only like $1), they then just issued me a $5 refund. I was blown away. This was my first purchase here, but you can bet it won't be my last!! Thanks Crutchfield!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My rear factory speakers in my 2012 Silverado Crew Cab went out, so after reading reviews i decided to buy these speakers. They are a MAJOR upgrade over the factory speakers. Clarity is amazing, bass is pretty good as well. I am hearing instruments in music i didn't hear with the old speakers. I do not have these hooked up to an amp, but I can tell they would be amazing if amped up, just by how they sound on the factory head unit. You wont regret these speakers! I like these so much that i decided to buy another pair to replace my front factory door speakers. I will say that they are not 6-1/2". They are more of a 6-3/4" with the way the housing is made. This didn't cause much issue in my install, but it could for you. Just keep that in mind.

Pros: Price Quality Clarity

Cons: actually size 6-3/4" not 6-1/2"

Very good value that sounds much better than the original front door speakers of my 2003 Chevy Silverado. When my rear speakers go, I'll be looking here for my new ones. The only reason I didn't award 5 stars was that the installation instructions were a bit lacking. The door control module on my truck can't be popped out. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Louder and clearer that the factory "advanced sound" speakers in my Saturn. Much better than I thought you can get from such shallow speakers. The mid bass does not come on nearly as strong as the factory speakers at lower volume, I assume because these are designed to operate under a wider range of power than stock. They love power and I think they would sound even better paired with a deck that has a loudness feature. That being said they have completely changed the sound of my factory system for the better. They actually shake my rear view now ( with the right song cranked all the way up )

Pros: Great sound from such shallow speakers. Make stock system sound clearer than I imagined possible. Low end from these is kinda punchy without an amp. The way these behave at high volume leads me to believe they could handle much more power than my system can provide yet they show no signs of being starved for power even at low volume.

Cons: Loss of some mid bass at lower volume.

Unbelievable sound for the price. A night and day difference in my '01 Saturn L200, with factory stereo. Used in front doors and with a little modification to the adapters, (which were included as part of the set), installation was fairly painless. I have already recommended these speakers to friends.

Pros: Great product for the price. Fast shipment. All install accessories included. Easy install

Cons: Could have used a little more insight into modifying the front door adapters.

Wrong Size, but still good for 6.5"s

Donovan from Michigan on 6/17/2017

2007 Chevrolet Impala
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

HEADS UP! These are 6.5" speakers! They function well and fit well with the bracket i received with my "2007 Chevy Impala Front Door Panel" install kit. but they are NOT 6.75" I am fairly disappointed as they are listed on the site as 6 and 3/4 inches, but clearly on the box and I guess even the model number (R"165"x3) it says 6 and 1/2 inches. I was purchasing as replacements for my wife's currently blown stock 6.5"s and was excited to find Crutchfield boasting about fitting a larger speaker in the same spot! But alas, these fit only because there are truly 6.5"s So , aside from that. The speakers are good. Exactly the quality you should expect from a pair of 6.5"s for this price. Solid feeling build, lots of mounting holes, Sound is great for the door. Just enough oomf to feel in the front door, but more noticeable quality and strength the mids and highs. I just hope someone will re-tag this product as it's rightful size, as I did not have time to send these back and order another set of larger speakers, as I was installing these the day before our road trip vacation. And now That they are installed and I made the necessary modifications, I am stuck with a smaller speaker then I thought I was ordering.

Pros: Good quality for the price. They fit where Crutchfield said they would.

Cons: NOT the size listed. They will still fit and sound alright, but they are not 6 3/4 inch speakers. They are only 6 1/2 inch.

Crutchfield response on 6/26/2017 Sorry for the fit confusion, Donovan. While Rockford Fosgate calls the R165X3 a 6 1/2" speaker, its required cutout will not allow it to fit in standard 6 1/2" applications. It does easily replace what we describe as 6 3/4" speakers, which is often based on the mounting hole pattern on a speaker. Our vehicle fit guide takes this information into account.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First time I have ordered from Crutchfield was this order. I couldn't have asked for better service in any way. Their side of this was amazing. But as far as the speakers themselves, you definitely get what you pay for. I bought these to go in my daily beater car since my right front blew out. Honestly my factory 10+ year old speakers sounded better until the one finally gave up. I have never owner anything rockford, I have also bought JL audio when upgrading but since its my beater I did not want to spend a lot of money so yes not being happy with them is on me I take that, but if I would have known these sounded so raspy I would have just bought another factory speaker from my Honda dealer. In my opinion even if your buying something for a "beater" and don't wanna spend much still spend a little more don't make the same mistake.

Pros: cheap

Cons: horrible sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought these speakers after reading the reviews on Crutchfield. I was replacing the worn out stock speakers on my 2002 Chevy Silverado. It was easy to install them and Crutchfield sent adapters to plug in to the stock connector. The speakers are good for the price but they are not as good as some you would pay a lot more for. If you want decent replacement speakers, these will work great. If you want a really good sound, go better.

Pros: Fit well. Sound decent.

Cons: Not as good as some say.

Mark from Fairview Heights, IL on 5/11/2017

2007 Toyota Prius
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Upgraded my stock speakers in a 2007 Prius. Much better highs/mids, and bass. The screws that came with were too long for the Metra adapters, so I had to get some screws from Home Depot that were shorter (#6 x 3/4in pan head sheet metal screws worked perfectly). Easy installation once I figured out how to drill the existing rivets -- the installation guide for this make/model says to drill them using a 1/8th bit. DON'T DO THAT! You'll never get anywhere. I ran through an entire battery charge on one door trying that. Go big or go home for the bit size; get something closer to 60% of the size of the rivet head and drill the sucker straight through. Also, these speakers are a bit larger than their listed size, so two more things to keep in mind: - The Metra speaker adapters that Crutchfield sent out with them have pre-scoured, breakable tabs on the inner rim. Those had to be broken off to fit the speaker to the adapter, but that wasn't initially clear to me because I had no idea what I was doing. Grab some pliers, snap the tabs off if you're having this issue. It's OK. - You may want to go ahead and buy some sound dampening material. Replacing stock speakers means that these are quite a bit larger and therefore have more momentum when they get going, so at somewhat moderate volumes I'm noticing door panels vibrating and so forth. If this is your first install this is something to keep in mind as you won't notice the noises until you've already gone through the

Pros: - Better than stock speakers! - Clear mid/high frequencies with good voicing - Good bass, nothing overwhelming, but not much distortion at reasonable volumes

Cons: - Not really a con, but they're a bit larger than their listed size. Keep that in mind during installation

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this looking at the high ratings, but after it was installed I wasn't super happy. These speakers produces amazing highs! With some little equalizer tweaking, the mids and highs were perfect. I usually scoop my mids, for the kind of (metal/rock) genres I listen to. That said, it seriously lacks bass. It sounds as if it stops at anything lower that the lower mids. -2 stars for that, because I've used other 3-way speakers with a much better bass response. I'm not sure why all the hype is all about? Installation was easy with Crutchfield's free speaker adapters! This is the first time I'm buying from Crutchfield and I've already started buying other audio equipments.

Pros: Amazing Highs Overall decent sound for certain genres

Granted, only have the stock My Link radio without the pioneer upgrade but you can notice the difference right away. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought two pairs of these as factory replacements for my Pontiac Vibe. I don't see how those who say these don't have good bass can say so honestly. No, they don't move air like a sub, but they actually sound pretty darn accurate, and they DO reproduce bass, just don't expect the ground outside your car to be shaking. These sound VERY good for the price, way better than I expected. Would buy again without hesitation. Crutchfield threw in the required Metra adapter rings for my car, and the wire adapter plugs, and the install went without a hitch, except that the screws that come with these speakers are longer by almost half an inch than the depth of the mounting ring for my car, so I had to round up 16 screws of the appropriate length to mount the speakers in the rings. The mounting rings made installing a breeze, though, and once I rounded up the required screws, I had them installed in less than an hour... that's ALL 4 speakers, one in each door. The installation instructions were SPOT on. These speakers replaced front component speakers that come from the factory in my Vibe... these actually sound a LOT better than the el-cheapo, plastic-frame factory speakers, even though the factory speakers were a woofer in the doors and a tweeter in the sail panel... if you're looking to vastly improve upon factory speakers, look no further than these. First time I have ever had Rockford speakers, but I'm very happy with them.

These are good factory replacement speakers. Would characterize them as natural sounding, if a little "bright". But not harsh like titanium and metal tweeters can be. I'm not running any lows to them so cannot comment on that.

Pros: Natural sound.

Cons: A little bright. May need to run them "flat" or adjust your EQ to compensate.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm sorry to say there's zero difference between these and the original, terrible, Subaru Forester speakers. The reason I'm giving 2 stars vs 1 is that maybe it's the radio's fault and not the speakers. Giant waste of money.

Pros:

Cons:

Crutchfield response on 11/30/2016 Aftermarket speakers, like these Rockford Fosgates, often require more power to be effective. Factory radios often don't have the power output to do aftermarket speakers justice. When distortion occurs, many times it can be mistaken as a problem with the speakers, but it can actually be a weak amplifier, like the one in a factory radio, having trouble delivering the power that the speakers require. This is when upgrading the radio or adding an amp really allow speakers to sound their best.

I got these a day ahead of schedule. Everything I needed to do install. With the wiring harnesses it was a breeze. 1st door took about a half hour second door took 20min. Awesome clarity not as much as I would've liked in the way of mid bass. It's ok though bc I have 2 12s to make up for it. So very pleased and would recommend them for an upgrade from factory speakers or to add some range to your mids.

Pros: Mid tweeter and high tweeter add an awesome clarity to mids. Low impedance makes for great hook up to factory or aftermarket setup.

Cons: Not much in the way of midrange bass

Perfectly matched speakers for the aftermarket stereo I installed in my 2001 Tahoe. The sound is like night and day compared to the OEM speakers. Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Upgraded from the OEM fronts on my 2011 Forester and they are easily the best car speakers I've ever heard. I don't need the thump from bigger speakers or subs, just some crisp highs and a speaker that can handle enough of the lows to surprise me once and a while, and these things deliver time and time again. Would recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their factory speakers. Crutchfield's install instructions for speakers leaves a little to be desired (especially in the area of how the speaker mounting brackets are positioned and used with aftermarket speakers), but I fumbled through the first door in about an hour from start to finish and the second door was done in 25 minutes. I've never done this before, so your mileage may vary.

when i received the speakers the actual sizes is 6.5" the websites says 6 3/4" had to return product. Don't fully trust the site saying they will fit.

Pros:

Cons: didn't fit

Crutchfield response on 8/23/2016 Note: Rockford Fosgate describes this model as a 6-1/2" speaker. Most manufacturers designate this same frame size as a 6-3/4" speaker. For simplicity's sake, we list it as a 6-3/4" speaker. Car speaker sizing can be one of most confusing things we deal with on a daily basis here at Crutchfield, and it helps to think of speakers in categories instead of sizes. An example is the 6-3/4" speaker size. It's not just about the size of the speaker's frame; it also has to do with the mounting hole pattern on the speaker. Measuring a speaker will never yield the same number as its category. To help our customers, we decided to take the measurements we took from speaker locations in various vehicles and translate that into what fits from the measurements we actually take from the speakers we sell. We hoped to eliminate some of the confusion and not mislead customers. This is why we included the above note on these speakers.

Solid 3-way pair of speakers at an affordable price

Glenn D from Atlanta, GA on 7/27/2016

2016 Acura ILX
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought two pairs of these speakers to replace factory 6 1/2" speakers in the front and rear doors (4 total). The factory speakers had pretty solid low-end response, but when pushing low frequencies, would muddle the mids and highs. As I was not in the market for the most expensive speaker I could buy, and being a prior consumer of Rockford Fosgate equipment, I thought I would give these a shot, and at a $49 price point, I figured I could not go wrong. I also complemented the install with Rockford Fosgate R1TS 1" tweeters (which I adore). Couple of caveats: 1) I am not running an amp, and 2) I am still utilizing the factory deck from the ILX (which has some power). Also in the car is the factory 10" woofer in the rear deck. Upon finalizing installation (which went swimmingly with the included gear) and cranking up the sound, I immediately recognized a clarity that was not present before. Frequencies once muddled were now coming through crystal clear. They are LOUD, but I feel I may have lost a bit of low-end that the factory speaker would hit. Not much loss, and not enough to whine about it profusely, but it is slightly noticeable. The factory woofer still cranks it out, so no major loss. What is paying off in spades is the sheer quality of the sound, with no distortion. Coupled with the 1" tweeters, it's a match made in heaven, and I am glad I upgraded.

Pros: Crystal-clear mids and highs, ample lows when paired with speakers which carry the heavy share of bass, attractive speakers and speaker trim (although I did not use the grills), quality materials, easy installation. No regrets.

Cons: Do not buy if you are looking for rumbling bass. They have some "punch" and are great speakers coupled with a bass-providing pair of larger speakers, but might slightly disappoint if you are looking to shake mirrors.

2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When buying a 3 way speaker, you expect to have more response from low, mid and high ranges. These speakers provide good crisp mid and high but absolutely no low end response whatsoever. Literally none. My stock speakers weren't as crisp as these, but they had much better low end response. Think carefully about what you want these speakers to accomplish. If you're pairing them with something in your vehicle that will cover the low end, like a subwoofer, then they could be a nice addition. If you are looking to replace your stock speakers without adding a subwoofer - these will thoroughly disappoint you.

Pros: Crisp Highs, shallow depth for install, good build quality

Cons: Absolutely no bass whatsoever.

These sound great, properly equalized. The drivers are larger than 6.5" but fit into 1/2 factory mounts.

Pros: These hit hard (for their size) without distortion even on 14watt RMS. They are only 6.5ish in size but the bass is accurate and the highs aren't harsh. Please give them a few hours or so to let them relax before making up your mind. I opened up my door panels and cut out the plasic grills to get the sound OUT. Factory speakers are a joke compaired to most anything but these look well built and sound really good. There is more surface area than typical 6.5 drivers.

Cons: I cant say much bad about them unless they only last a year. They are sturdy and accurate. I have them in a cargo work truck with tons of road noise. They do need equalizer TLC to sound best.

Bought two sets of these on special. Crutchfield "stuff for my vehicle" said they wouldn't fit in the rear doors but other sets of the same size speakers would so I gambled and ordered for both anyway. Pleasantly surprised to say they fit with absolutely no issues. Sound quality out of these guys is about a thousand times better than the stock paper cones. Bass hits moderately hard for a 6.5/6.75 inch 3-way speaker, in fact we have rattles in the door that annoy now because these are shaking stuff loose. Highs on these sound great, we have none of the "flatness" mentioned in other reviews. 45RMS/90 watts peak is a lot for the small cabin they went into and they absolutely fill it with sound. Bear in mind that speakers only pound out the sound that is sent to them, so an underpowered or poor quality deck may make these sound worse than the "matched" speakers that came stock. Paired with a Kenwood deck these sound brilliant.

Pros: Great price (on special). Loud. Crisp clear highs, decent lows/bass for their size.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am kind of blown away as these speakers don't even come close to sounding as good as the 16 year old stock paper coned factory speakers that my truck came with. I was so underwhelmed that I pulled one of the Rockfords and replaced it w/ the factory paper cone speaker and listened to a HUGE variety of music, styles and genres, as well as songs that I had written/engineered/mastered (so I know what I am suposed to be hearing). All the while over a few hour period I was panning left to right to left... and to my amazment the Rockfords had so little low end that I could barley even hear the bass guitar at all in most songs. Also the low end that they did posses was really spiky (sharp, in really narrow frequency pockets: actually more like thin envelopes of unpleasant bass) The high end also had it's own angular coloring. Historically, I have always heard a huge improvement when replacing stock speakers. So this was really strange to me. I expected to at the very least have even a slight improvement. btw I am running an Alpine head unit. I sent the speakers back.

Pros: Brand name reminds me of Jim Rockford

Cons: They sound like angular poo. I really wanted to like them but even my 16 year old son picked the old paper coned factory speaker as sounding better in a blind test.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these for my 2000 Saturn LS1 and I love them. Any one with a Saturn L series take note: Be sure to remove the speaker grilles or the door panels will not go back on properly

Pros: Sweet sounding with crisp sound detail I did not hear with factory speakers.

Cons: Speaker grilles need removed for proper fit.

Great value, good enough

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I give them five stars for their price range. These are low-power speakers meant for OEM replacement, running directly from the head unit (no external amplifier). They sound dramatically better than the OEM speakers they replaced. You'll need to make use of the stereo's EQ to (try) to level out the frequency response, as they have a few very hot & cold spots. After EQ, they are quite good.

Pros: They sound great running off the head unit, installation was easy. They're a great speaker for the price.

Cons: Praise is "for the price" - you're not paying a lot, so it's only fair to say they'll probably be better than the speakers the factory inflicted on you.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I used to always buy Rockford Fosgate amps and speakers long before the company had been bought out. I wasn't sure if the sound quality would good with these or not. While these speakers would fall short of the some of the systems that I have put together over the years, they are a far better speaker than the price tag would indicate. I installed these in my daily driver in the front pannels and was very impressed with the upgrade over the stock car speakers. Would highly recommed as a cheap upgrade to stock or even for a low budget starter system.

Pros: Good sound for the money.

Cons: The outer lip of the mounting flange could be just a bit wider for the reuse of the factory screws.

Great bargain, great sound - screws too long

2011 Honda Odyssey
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Bought these on sale for my 2011 Honda Odyssey. The install guidance from Crutchfield helped tremendously; however, the screws the RF provided were too long for the Scosche brackets provided. In order to prevent drilling holes in the metal door, I opted to cut the screws to length with my pneumatic cutoff tool. I then had to taper the ends on my bench grinder so they would go into the brackets. A note about the brackets the clips at the bottom that set into the door are delicate; I broke one off and will now need to use some 3M two-way tape to make sure it stays. My order was shorted some of the electrical connectors, so I could not install the rear doors yet. Will do that soon. The sound quality between the RF and stock is night and day.

Pros: Crutchfield install guidance great; sound quality great.

Cons: screws too long; brackets break easily.

Definitely an upgrade!

I used these to replace the stock door speakers in my 07 g6 and let me tell you! The stock speakers were junk, flimsy paper and were sounding like garbage. These speakers obviously appealed to me because of the price but the reviews helped. Super easy install thanks to the wiring harness and brackets included. The sound has improved tremendously. For cheaper speakers they can handle some bass.

Pros: Easy install Sounds awesome

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

For the price these can't be beat. Installed in both the rear and front of a 2016 Hyundai Elantra without issues. Reuse the stock speaker mounts! Mine were riveted in and the adapters that came with the speakers would not work with 6.5 inch speakers. They would work with 5.25 inch but if your factory mounts are riveted in it's not worth the trouble of removing them.

Pros: Greatly improved sound at a great price

Though Toyotas pop rivets can increase installation times, it was nothing for some shears and a drill. The mounting bracket lined up perfectly and they sound 100 times clearer than stock speakers. Teamed up with a pioneer head unit and two 12s, these 6 1/2s can help anything coming through a hpf.

Pros: Great value

Great entry level upgrade

John D from Ohio on 7/6/2015

Upgraded to these RF in my 95' Legacy Wagon. I'm running 4 tweeters through a custom modded amp (upgraded film and electrolytic caps for improved clarity and more accurate SQ) along with an Alpine R 10" and Kicker L5 12" (have a wider dynamic presence with a 10" and 12"- sounds more natural vs. two 10's or 12's) powered by an old school Sony. High pass was always controlled at HU for doors, which were factory full-range paper cones. At low to middle-low volumes, the RF sound similar to the factory pieces they replaced. Push volume louder and they really wake up. This is where it pays to have 91db SPL as they'll hit higher db with less wattage, which in this case is the Pioneer HU. They stay surprisingly clear until you push them a little too hard, where it induces a ringing effect (around +54 volume with loudness high, SLA +4, etc.) Keeping eyes open for a 4 channel old school SQ amp around 50wpc to get the most of these. People griping about these either have a lousy HU, amp, or don't understand how to properly set them up, are running only 2 of them, etc. etc. They don't make bass. PERIOD. So don't expect that from them. You should set high pass to around 100Hz and HIGHER. You'll get a little tight mid-bass, but nothing more. I have 8Khz at -6, 3Khz around 0, 1.25k +3. My amped tweeters pick up the rest. Excellent buy these RF.

Pros: 91 db SPL helps them get louder with less wattage (wouldn't push them beyond 50w); Clear going loud which is where they shine; Highs are a little bright and artificial IF you crank the 3Khz - 10Khz range up expecting their tweeters to supply only highs, but are OK with secondary amped tweeters; Suggest replacing factory electrolytic cap with a same spec (voltage and capacitance) Elna Silmic II (for more warmth) or Cerafine (more accurate clarity) as they cost $1 each online (reputable outlets)

Cons: NOT bass speakers so get over it. Bass they do make is around 100Hz and higher despite being advertised lower, so set highpass filter to 100Hz or 125 Hz and invest in bass speakers. Highs are OK but overly bright if you set high freq. to far. Suggest lowering high freq. and running secondary tweeters via a small amp. Makes a world of difference. Pushing too hard introduces ringing, meaning you should back off volume a bit. If highpass is ignored and you crank the high freq., it'll hurt sound.

Nice

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got these to replace my blown door speakers in my 2010 Camaro. Once installed, I was slightly dissapointed they are not much of an improvement from OEM. I had to make several calls to Crutchfield CS. Brackets are no where near as thick as OEM, CS told me to cut all the tabs out of the inside of the bracket to make speaker fit. The wiring harness they included would not fit in the OEM harness so they sent an alternate, but they ended up being almost exactly the same and did not fit either. Had to cut small "v's" in their harness to make it squeeze into the OEM. The mounting screws they included were an 1 1/2" too long and hit door opening, had to buy shorter ones at the hardware store, Also used some double sided tape to secure the speaker to the bracket to ensure there was no rattle.

Pros: affordable replacement. quick delivery.

Cons: a lot of
