Rockford Rocks

Mike from Newport News, VA on 4/4/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I have always been a fan of Rockford. Got this one for my daughters truck as it was an entry level Rockford sub. Running it off of an older 300 watt amp I had sitting on the shelf. I was originally planning on getting a second one and running two, but this one does so good that I am going to just stick with the one.

Pros: Rockford quality and economical price.

Cons: Does better that the more expensive sub in my truck.

Great subs

Beast little subs

Patrick O from Hilo hawaii on 5/25/2013

Well I would have to say that these little subs pound pretty hard. I have two of them in a Honda ridgeline in a sealed box with a lot of poly fill. The amp is a Rockford fosgate punch 300.1. When I picked up my car from where they installed the stuff into my car the guy that installed the stuff said that these are the best little 10" subs he heard before. You can kind of hear it outside the car but I don't think these subs are meant for that at all and if you want that get something else. They get pretty loud in the car but when I open the door of my truck it gets louder. So if your looking for nice tight loud bass get some of these subs.

Pros: Good price

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

have 2 of these bad boys in my 08 Tundra Crewmax, and they rock! got the sub boc form Crutchfiled which is the only sub box for the crewmax tundra, and i took a big risk for the price. but it paid off. i highly recommend these subs. oh and powered by Rockford prime amp , which fit right under the seat with a tiny bit of modification.

Pros: great sound, just loud enough to rock, will get noticed by chicks (wink wink)!!!!

Cons: Will get noticed by chicks......i'm married!

excellent sub!

Tha Roosta 7 from memphis, tn on 12/18/2012

this was my first sub, i had it running off my prime 300.4 and it was getting the 150 rms all day. this little beast slammed!! it was in a 98 s10 ext. cab and it filled it up with BASS all day long. highly recomment. it will go out if you abuse the heck out of it like i did, though. so watch those high gains, bass boost, and bass levels. dont let your gain become your volume, friends, it is what it is. a 150rms sound quality oriented woofer. and it did sound great.

Pros: loud, cool looking, lasts awhile, clean sounding, ran cool.

Cons: nothing

Great sub

Great Simple 10" Sub

Kramerma from Garland, Tx on 4/2/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Pair this sub with a 500 watt amp sounds awesome and hits hard not gonna wake up the neighbors but add that awesome listening experience while driving in the car.

Great Subs!

CalebH from Omaha, NE on 11/18/2011

I bought two of these, a box for them, and an amp all for $180 and it was the best money I have spent on my car yet! They hit the low notes real nice.

Pros: They are small enough to make your car rattle a bit and the people next to you look at you, but not so big that you have to worry about waking up the neighbors. Amazing price!

Cons: Did not come with screws but that was an easy fix, you don't need any specific screw to set it up.

Rockford Fosgate 10 inch

islandreamer from Virginia Beach, VA on 11/11/2011

Paired this with a Kenwood KAC-8105D in a custom made sealed box and a JVC headunit with sub controls and it did deliver. I was hesitant at first since it is only rated at 150w/RMS at 4 ohms and the Kenwood powers it at twice her rating at 4 ohms. It filled the missing bass inside my ride and then some. Not bad for a budget priced 10 inch subwoofer.

Pros: Rubber surround. Simple design.

Cons: None so far.

Just Amazing

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Wow this sub hits hard. I have it in a custom box under the back seat in a 2011 GMC Sierra crew cab. It's amazing sub for the money it hits harder than my friend 12" believe me when I say buy it.

Great sound for the price!

JeremyH from Somersworth, NH on 6/12/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was recommended this sub by a crutchfield adviser, as I needed one small enough to fit into an enclosure I had already, If fit perfectly and sounds great, great price. Replaced an 11 year old sony xplod sub, paired it up with a Kenwood KAC-5204 amp. Perfect options if you are a budget. I went with a somewhat better speaker and head unit options so it was nice saving a little money with those 2. Thanks again.

great sub if you're on a budget

Joe J from Massapequa, NY on 2/11/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've had this for about 6 months now, and this sub really is a good deal - great performance for the price. Like other reviewers said, if you're looking to wake up the neighbors from your driveway, this sub won't do it; 150W isn't enough power for that. But if you want clean, strong bass that can rattle your car's mirrors with the right music at a loud volume, this can definitely do the job. I set mine up with a Rockford Fosgate Prime R150-2 amp with a bridged connection to get 150W and a Kenwood KDC-MP342U head unit, and now I can't drive without it. My only gripe is that it doesn't come with screws, you need to get those separately

People don't believe me till I open the door

Evil from Midland, MI on 11/25/2010

I bought one of these because I was on a tight budget. I got a 10" sub , the Rockford Prime rf-150 amp, sealer RF box, and an 8 ga wiring kit, it easily hits harder and sounds cleaner than than the 2 older alpine 12's in my wifes car. Most people hear it and don't believe it's only 1 10" sub with a 150 watt amp. I have been using and installing stereos for over 15 years, and would not hesitate to recommend this to someone who wants to be loud and still be clear. Hits the lows down to 27-30 hz real nice and clear, if you want to annoy your neighbors 6 blocks away with cupboard emptying bass this isn't the setup for you, otherwise buy it.

Great sub

Rockford Fosgate R1S410

Bryan from Rancho Cucamonga, CA on 7/19/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you're looking for clean bass while inside your car and are on a budget, then this sub is for you. If you are looking to show off your bass to others outside your car, then this sub is NOT for you. Overall, I am please with the quality of this sub. I paired it with the RF Prime R150-2 with a bridged connection in a sealed hatchback 10" sub box - sounds great and I would recommend it to all low budget enthusiasts. Only con in my opinion - the sub did not come with screws which I had to buy at home depot.

Product Research

Enclosure Compatibility

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R1S410 is a 10-inch, 4-ohm single voice coil subwoofer. The Rockford Fosgate Prime subwoofer features a solid stamped steel frame, quick-release compression terminals, and a Parabolic polypropylene cone. The Prime R1S410 subwoofer is optimized for sealed enclosures.

Parabolic Polypropylene Cone Design:  The Parabolic Polypropylene cone design results in solid bass reproduction.

Aluminum Voice Coils: The Rockford Fosgate Prime subwoofer uses anodized aluminum voice coil formers that provide excellent heat dissipation. The woofer's aluminum voice coils keep the speaker running cool, even under demanding conditions. Unlike traditional plastic substitutions, aluminum acts like a heat-sink to quickly dissipate thermal build-up on the voice coil. This keeps the subwoofer cool during high SPL conditions.

Stamped Steel Basket: The R1S410 subwoofer features a stamped steel basket for added rigidity.

Compression Terminals: The Prime R1S410 features spring post terminals which accommodate up to 12 AWG speaker wire.

CEA-2031 Compliant: Power handling on the Rockford Fosgate Prime R1S410 subwoofer conforms to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.

Enclosure Compatibility

Sealed Box Volume: The sealed box sizes recommended by Rockford Fosgate range from 0.5 cu/ft to 0.85 cu/ft. The ideal recommended volume is 0.75 cu/ft.
