Big bass in a tight space
Rockford Fosgate's Prime Series R2S-1X10 shallow sub enclosure lets you have big bass in your vehicle without taking up much space. Coming in at 5-1/4" deep, this box was made with the regular cab truck owner in mind. Rockford Fosgate built each enclosure with 5/8" thick medium-density fiberboard protected by rugged black carpeting so they're tough too.
The enclosure comes loaded with one Prime R2SD4 10" sub that handles up to 200 watts RMS, wired for 2-ohm impedance. The sub features a mica-injected polypropylene cone with a poly-foam surround for accurate bass that you can feel. The package includes two mounting brackets and four self-tapping screws.
Average Customer Review(s):
These subs sound great in my truck.
Fits under the back seat of our 2014 Nissan Frontier Desert Runner crew cab. We did have to remove the storage bin. Crutchield staff was helpful, too.
I powered this box with a Rockford Fosgate Prime R250 Amp and I never would have expected the sound I get from this. Incredible!!
Fits on center behind seat of my 2013 regular cab Chevy Silverado and sounds great to. If you have no room like my truck, you should think about using this sub. I have a 19 year old RadioShack cheap amp bridged mono running this until I buy a real amp and it sound great. I love and have expensive music equipment but refuse to go crazy on my everyday drive due to possible theft.
Pros: Great price and sound
Cons: Would be nice to have a cover over the woofer, not a big deal.
I'm amazed at the level of bass this thing puts out for being a single 10" sub!
Pros: Small Size - fits under my back seat Sounds great!
This little 10" sub is awesome. Put it behind my passenger side back seat in my 07 Tacoma double cab. I'm really impressed with its performance.
Pros: Low profile box great for pick up trucks and even cars. Sounds great
Cons: Didn't buy it sooner
was not small enough to fit behind my seet, but I did hear it work with only 150 watts amp bridged, sound great.
Pros: Great price, great sound
Cons: Was not small enough for my truck so I bought another truck, boooom
I like music... lots of it, and of many different types. Aside from the quality of the sound, which is unquestionably excellent, the main selling point of this, for me, was the size. While I do not own a truck, I do need room for a suitcase (or two) from time to time. I mounted this enclosure to one side of my '08 Honda Civic's trunk, facing the wheel well, amp on the back, and I still have plenty of room for luggage. I can also fit two week's worth of groceries, without resorting to the back seat. For those of you that want a more full sound stage, without sacrificing too much utility in your ride, this is the beast.
Pros: Size, clarity, punch, invisibility
Cons: No grill for protection
Excellent sound and high clarity. Amazing from such a shallow enclosure (and sealed, to boot). It can really pack a punch when you want it to. It fills the cab of my 2015 F-150 SuperCrew with great bass at a more than reasonable price.
Pros: Clean sound, hits heavy when you want it to, extremely low profile without sacrificing power
Fantastic sound in my son't regular cab mid size pickup! Paired this with a Rockford Fosgate Prime R250X1 and a set of new in door speakers and it rocks! Nice punch from the sub and ultimately configurable with the Prime R250X1 to dial in just the right amount of kick. My son is very happy with this setup.
gets the bass booming!
Replacing the 8 inch RF OEM sub in an 06 Nissan Sentra. Amazing upgrade! I should've done this years ago. Terriffic sound, love it, love it, love it!!
Pros: Great bass Not too big
High quality as to be expected from Fosgate. Sound is good for and extended cab. Won't shake to windows of homes down the street but it is just a shallow mount. That being said I have it hooked up to an Kenwood 800w mono channel class D amp and can set it for more quick and punchy response when I listen to rock or loosen things up for rap. For the price you can't beat it!
Pros: Price Response of Sub Loaded Enclosure Quality
Cons: None so far
I just installed two of these into my 2012 jeep jk. Theses speakers rock. The best bang for your buck.
Pros: Good price for the quality
I installed 2 of these 10in. subwoofers in my Titan. The shallow mount boxes fit under the rear seats with room to spare. I connected them to a 250 Fosgate amp.
Pros: Good clear, tight, chest thumping bass. Easy installation
Great sub, loud and gets the job done.
Pros: Loud Smooth Bass Clear Sound
sounds really good very easy set up.....will give a pounding
Pros: all good
Cons: no grill
This is and also sub! It's the big bang for the buck! I would recommend this to anyone with a pick up truck for under the backseat!
Pros: Big bang for the buck! Fits easily under the rear backseat! Great Sound!
Smallest 10 inch box I could find. Just wanted to add some bass to the truck and that is what this delivers.
Pros: Size, Quality
Cons: None unless you are looking SPL
So I was looking for better sound in an 85 chevy single can truck, let's just say that there is almost no room to work with. This sub fit perfectly behind the seat, and it is hooked up to a 250 watt amp. This sub has a surprising amount of base. It will rattle all of the mirrors and is very responsive. All in all it was a great purchase and I am very satisfied with the sound quality.
Pros: Hits hard, very slim, and looks great too.

Enclosure: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R2S-1X10 houses a single R2SD4 10" subwoofer. The sealed enclosure is constructed of 5/8" Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) and covered with black high density carpet. There is a pair of high current spring posts on the right side (when facing the subwoofer); the terminal will accommodate pin connectors, single or dual banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge. The subwoofer's dual voice coils are wired in parallel and present a 2-ohm load to your amplifier.
Voice Coil Former: The R2SD4-10's voice coil former is made of anodized aluminum to provide superior heat dissipation. Unlike traditional plastic, aluminum acts as a heat-sink to quickly dissipate thermal build-up on the voice coil. This keeps the subwoofer cool and improves durability.
Stitched Tinsel Leads: The multipoint, periodic stitched technique of attaching the tinsel lead wires to the spider spreads stress and strain over a greater area, reducing fatigue and the possibility of shorting. This significantly improves the reliability and performance of the subwoofer.
Stamped Steel Basket: The R2SD4-10 subwoofer features a stamped steel basket for added rigidity.
CEA-2031 Compliant: The power handling specifications for the R2SD4-10 subwoofer conform to CEA-2031 industry standards. This means the subwoofer has the capacity to handle power under continuous demand, not instantaneous power handling, that over time, can damage voice coils.

I chose this item because of its size. I want to conserve trunk-space. Also, I have never had a ten inch sub. I want to hear if it can put out enough bass. [ Jesus Jul 16, 2017 ]

In a mid-size regular cab truck, there's not much room back there. This was the thinnest sub with great ratings from other buyers. With the small space - non-ported sub should pack plenty of punch. [ Adam Dec 13, 2016 ]
I chose this item because it has a small physical footprint and I have limited space behind the seat of my truck. [ D Nov 16, 2016 ]

I believe this will fit in the center cargo area of a c5 corvette and be hidden. My cargo cover already has a hole cut in it with a mesh insert from previous owner. [ GARY Mar 26, 2016 ]
Fit behind seat in my truck. I haven't heard anything bad about Rockford Fosgate either. [ Tyler Mar 05, 2016 ]

That amp only provides 50 watts RMS @ 2 ohms per channel. The sub is rated at 100-400 watts RMS @ 2 ohms. Even though bridging the amp for 200 watts will result in an impedance mismatch as the amp is stable at 4 ohms for 200 watts while bridged. You wouldn't get clean frequency response as the amp would offer too much resistance to effectively drive a 2-ohm sub. You're better off looking for a mono amp with a rating of 200-300 watts RMS @ 2 ohms stable for this sub box. [ Tobias Feb 15, 2016 ]
Hard to say. Everything in my research points to people installing under the rear seats in the '08 Sierra. There's plenty of custom boxes for that application. I'd start by measuring from the back of the seats to the rear wall...you'll need 5.25" just for the box, but you'll want closer to 6" (at a minimum) to compensate for the sub cone and excursion movement (don't want the sub cone banging against the rear seat). Secondly, you will need to measure farther up the back of the seat (the distance upwards will be the boxes height measurement) to ensure you're getting 3.25" of clearance (probably need at least 4" for aforementioned compensations). Hope this helps. Another box to consider, though vastly more expensive, which is smaller (and totes a 13.5" sub) would be the JL Audio Stealth boxes. Best of luck. [ Tobias Dec 11, 2015 ]
Anything larger than .12 ga. is overkill for 10" sub terminals...but you could probably squeeze .08 ga. into these connectors. [ Tobias Dec 11, 2015 ]
I believe im running 8 gauge [ Ardaches Oct 11, 2015 ]
The sub will present a 2ohm load to the amp, as you said. At 150w bridged on an amp rated for a stable 4ohm load, coupled with the fact that ventilation will be limited, you're likely to run into problems with the amp overheating and activation of any protection circuits, likely causing the amp to be somewhat useless. It's usually okay to have present more resistance to an amplified channel capable of stable lower resistance operation (i.e. 4 ohm sub with a 2 ohm amp) but the other way around will cause problems. I hope this helps answer your question. [ Tobias May 30, 2015 ]
There's a trade-off between enclosure size and low frequency response. The R2SD4-10 has a resonant frequency Fs of 38Hz and to get that a sealed enclosure should have a volume of 0.7 cubic feet. Since this enclosure is smaller, the speaker's resonant frequency will be a bit higher and I wouldn't expect the R2S-1X10 to operate well all the way down to the claimed 38 Hz. But you probably won't notice the difference. [ Stephen Jun 04, 2014 ]
The speaker sounds great in its enclosure and fits perfectly behind the seat in my truck. No downsides for my use. Save the rocket science for rocket science [ SHON D May 31, 2014 ]
