Rockford Fosgate performance in a rugged package – the Prime Series R600X5 5-channel amp can drive 4 speakers with 50 watts RMS each, while powering a subwoofer with up to 300 watts RMS. Not worried about your rear speakers? You can bridge the amp to 2-channel mode to drive a pair of high-performance components with 150 watts RMS each, while still sending that 300 watts to a sub. You can use the high- and low-pass filters and Rockford Fosgate's famous Punch boost to get maximum performance from your speakers and sub. And speaker-level inputs let you hook this amp up to almost any system, even a factory stereo.
The R600X5's heavy cast-aluminum chassis efficiently draws damaging heat away from its internal components, ensuring reliable, long-term play. The amp's built-in sensors keep track of the output current and power supply temperature, ensuring that plunging impedances (they change constantly during play) or even a short circuit won't hurt anything. Your driver's seat will become your favorite place for listening to music once this Prime amp goes to work.

Solid! The right amount of power for my little car!
this amp is a real trooper. I've have an older version of this amp I got in 2013. The only difference is the controls are on the side of the amp and not the top. I've had it in three different vehicles in a few different configurations. If you're going to run it bridged or 2 ohm loads on your stereo channels id suggest running a fan on it because it will run very warm and eventually go into protect mode if you are playing it at high volume for an extended period of time. I currently have this in my work vehicle running 5 1/4 and 6 1/4 component Rockford primes and a p2 15 on a 2 ohm load. The primes sound great for being budget components on the amp. Using an alpine cde 123 head unit so the amp is getting a 4 volt signal. Set the gains using a volt meter. No distortion no clipping. I drive a semi so the amp is on for hours at a time. It does get warm to the touch after playing at high volume for an extended period of time. When I had it in my daily driver it was of no concern even in the semi it never shuts down however after a few weeks I did put a fan on it for my peace of mind since its on for 11 to 14 hours a day. Cooler the better with that kind of use. All in all a great reliable amp. Not the most powerful amp but it does the wattage it says it does and a little more if your vehicle is putting out the amps. Rockford born sheets are always higher then the specs but I can't recall what voltage they use for their bench test but they do test each amp before they send th
Cons: would be nice if the sub amp was closer to 500 watts
Great sound, powerful bass, all I expect from RFG, only issue is overheating, but working on that.
Pros: easy install, awesome clarity, perfect clarity even with the top down
Cons: overheating, suggestions?Crutchfield response on 6/19/2017 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to Norm to help him with his overheating issues. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
I installed this in a 2003 Jeep Wrangler to compliment my aftermarket head unit. As any Jeep owner knows, it's almost impossible to hear the radio at highway speeds with the top down, even with an aftermarket head unit. While I initially wanted to install it under the driver's seat, I decided to install it in an "add-a-trunk" in the rear of the Jeep. For those that don't know what that is, it's a bolt-in 'trunk' that gives you a somewhat secure space when the tailgate is locked. I did this because the amp wouldn't have been 100% hidden under the seat. Since the top stays down most of the time in the Jeep - and also since it's a soft-top and has zero security with the top up - it needed to be completely hidden from view. So the problem with this was having to run all. those. wires. from the very back of the Jeep to the front. I pulled up the carpets and hid them from view as best I could. I even used black sleeving around the wires as the exited the console and ran up behind the dashboard. Since the carpeting is black, you can't really see them at first glance. It took quite a few days to do it but the results are worth it. This was my first amp install so once again, kudos to Crutchfield tech support for being patient with all my questions. It's a little intimidating because there's a lot of wires and a lot of adjustability on the amp itself. But once I learned what was what, it was pretty straightforward... just tedious.
Pros: Plenty of power Lots of adjustability Perfect if you don't want separate amps for subs and speakers
Cons: Check the signal wire for continuity BEFORE installation instructions are better than most, but still lacking... especially for a novice
Paired this bad boy with 2 JL Audio 12WXv2 subs, 2 Polk Audio DXi691, and two Polk Audio DXi521 driven by a simple EQ with a headphone jack for my phone. The sound gets serious really fast. You could get more power to 1 sub or power them separately, but cruising in my '67 Lincoln Continental has never been so fun.
great amp if you want to keep your stock head unit. It has high ampedence inputs, so with a few cheap adapters you can have high performance sound and keep all of the features of your stock unit.
Pros: high ampedence inputs, 5 channels, remote bass control
Perfect all-in-one amplifier to power the entire system in my truck. The staff at Crutchfield was professional, helpful and knowledgable in outfitting me with upgraded speakers and sub, along with selecting this amp to support the entire system. The Rockford Fosgate 5-channel amp was an easy install (for professionals) and offers adjustable control over the entire system. More than enough power to sound great at a very reasonable price.
Pros: Perfect amp to power system in truck, affordable, great price, dependable brand and easy installation.
Lots of power and perfect for my application in my rv
It's a rockford need I say more.
Pros: Great power. Easy use.
Cons: Can't really think of any yet. Does run warm but hasn't shut off or given me any issues
I have only had it hooked up for a day, but so far it sounds wonderful, didn't think I would need a capacitor, but ended up getting one to stop the altinator wine, but other than that I live it so far
Pros: Simple hookup, no problems there, when hooking it up
Cons: None that I know of at this point in time.
I am usually not a Rockford Fosgate fan. After research, and little else in this price point, i went ahead with this. I have not been disappointed. Low level input range matches most head units that will be used with an amp at this price point. Fit very well under the back seat of my Silverado.
Pros: Size, power, input range.
Cons: Damping factor could be better.
easy to install
Very good amp, nice and compact fits great under the seat. Easy install and lots of adjustability.
Pros: Looks cool works great low-to-no maintenance needed.
Cons: Little too eager to go into protection. You need welding goggles for the bass remote L.E.D! It's as bright as the sun!
Easy to read instructions and straightforward installation
Purchases one of these amps for a Jeep Wrangler install and liked it so much I purchased another one to do my Dads Jeep.
I replaced a monoblock fosgate 400w amp with this one. The monoblock was driving 2 8in fosgate 2 ohm speakers wired in series. I upgraded my door speakers and tweeters to the fosgate P165-SE component speakers so needed a multichannel amp to drive them. This amp does a great job driving the component speakers AND drives the subs much better than the monoblock amp, even though its wired to 300w on the subs and the monoblock was 400w. The system sounds great and the amp has a small footprint. Plenty of power for my system.
Pros: Good power, easy to install, included remote is nice. Crutchfield support was great throughout the process
Great item-easy to install-replaced my alpine with this one-works great
Pros: Easy install-better controls on crossovers an gain controls
Bought this for my 16 year-old son as a Christmas gift to install in his Mazda Tribute suv. He was previously running factory speakers off of an in-dash powered CD player. We replaced 4 speakers, installed this amplifier, and hooked up a 12" Kicker subwoofer mounted in a box. Needless to say, he is impressed with the power, the much improved music clarity, and the bass. We are still fine-tuning the cross-overs and gain adjustments, but really like the amplifier. Our Crutchfield advisor was very helpful with the purchase, the installation instructions were informative, and the order arrived within 3 days. I felt like the price for this sized amplifier was reasonable and we are very pleased with the purchase.
Pros: Provided certification from Rockford Fosgate says the amplifier tested at 726 watts vs. 600 as advertised. A lot of fine-tuning adjustment available for the user. Very good unit for systems running only one amplifier.
Cons: No complaints at this time.
It works great. Easy to install
This is an excellent purchase for the person who's looking to match treble with bass using only one amp. Like most Rockford amps, the advertised power is about 17% less than the power stated on the Certificate provided in the box; therefore, this amp is really putting out 60 x 4 @ 4 ohms and 350 x 1 @ 2 ohms. The crossover functions and bass boost remote help tune the system for a well-balanced mix for all types of music.
Pros: Best bang for your buck.
very good product
Pros: very powerful
Cons: overheats and shuts down at times
Was a great amp, replaced my 2 channel and and used this for my subs and a pair of 5.25s and 6x9s. It made my system sound a lot louder and crisper.
Pros: Power/can't go wrong with rock/fosgate Crutchfield support is amazing
Cons: Price is a little higher than id like
Was a little disappointed in the lack of power it had for my application. Returned it for replacement Crutchfield was great as always
Pros: Remote punch adjustment
Cons: Not enough power for my system

Overview: The Rockford Fosgate Prime R600X5 is a 5-channel amplifier, with full range two 2-channel amps and a mono subwoofer amp built into one chassis. The front and rear amps are class A/B with identical but independent controls (gain, crossover, Punch EQ). The subwoofer amp is class D with its own gain, crossover, phase, and Punch EQ controls. The front and rear channels are bridgeable, so the amp can also be used in 4-channel or 3-channel modes.
CEA 2006 Compliant: The R600X5's power ratings and signal to noise ratio are measured according to the uniform standards advocated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). This allows you to accurately compare these specifications for all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to these standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging. CEA2006 Specifications for this amplifier are:
LED Indicator: The amplifier is equipped with an LED power/protect indicator. The LED illuminates blue when the unit is turned on. It illuminates red if the thermal or short circuit protection circuit is engaged, and the amplifier will automatically turn off.
Mounting: The amplifier can be mounted vertically or horizontally using the supplied mounting screws. The amplifier should never be mounted in an engine compartment as this will void the warranty.
Gain Controls: The front, rear, and subwoofer amplifier channels have independent gain controls. Each rotary control is labeled 1 to 11 and has a sensitivity range of 150mV to 4V when using the RCA inputs, 450mV to 12V when using the speaker level inputs.
Remote Punch Level Control: The R600X5 includes a wired Remote Punch Level Control, linked to the gain control of the subwoofer amplifier. The module allows you to remotely control the output level of the sub from the dash or center console. The Remote Punch Level Control features a rotary dial, and comes with mounting hardware and an 18' cable.
Note: The Remote Punch Level Control measures approximately 1-3/4" wide (2-5/8" including the mounting flange) x 3/4" high x 1-5/8" deep (2-1/8" deep including the knob and wiring).
Crossover: Each section of the amplifier has independent crossover controls:
Punch EQ: Each section of the amplifier also has independent Punch EQ controls:
Phase: The subwoofer amp has a 2-position phase switch to allow you to easily reverse the output phase of the amplifier, choose 0° or 180° to match the rest of your vehicle's speaker system.
Power Terminals: The power and ground terminals are nickel-plated set screw terminals and will accommodate up to 4 gauge power and ground wires.
Fuse: An external 80-amp fuse (not included) must be installed on the power wire at the battery. If a wiring kit is used which includes a fuse with a value other than 80-amps, the original should be replaced with a 80-amp fuse.
Remote Terminal: The remote turn-on terminal is a nickel-plated set screw terminal that will accommodate up to an 8 AWG wire. It's used to remotely turn the amplifier on and off.
Speaker Terminals: The five pair of speaker outputs are nickel-plated set screw terminals what will accommodate up to 8 AWG speaker wire.
RCA Input Jacks: Front, rear, and subwoofer RCA input jacks provide an easy connection for preamp level inputs. They are nickel-plated to resist signal degradation caused by corrosion.
Speaker Level Input: Two speaker level input harnesses are included, making it easier to add the amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs.
Wired Remote: An RJ-25 jack is used with the included Remote Punch Level Control.

Cost of scratch & dent version of amp. After searching for an amp and looking at some local shops, once I found this discounted version with full factory warranty and fully tested by Crutchfield, the price was worth a chance....we shall see if it was a good idea... [ S Nov 06, 2016 ]

I wanted a five-channel amp to power speakers and later a subwoofer. Otis was my advisor and said it was a good one. It was on sale, so I went with it to limit the work I need to do later. Otis' Bio: http://www.crutchfield.com/Support/Bio.aspx?bio=212 [ Michael Feb 12, 2016 ]

No, an LOC is not necessary. This amp can use both pre-amp and speaker level inputs. [ Todd Aug 07, 2017 ]

I haven't measured and calculated this on mine, but the manufacturer specs list it as >200. I come from the old days of Orion HCCA type equipment and as a replacement for my Honda system, this amp handled the conversion well with great quality. I run multi way 6-1/2's in the 4 doors and a 10" RF sub all from this amp. It is well worth the price. [ Douglas Jun 09, 2017 ]
SeparatesDepends on how you wire up the speakers. If you know ohms law you can calculate and wire it up in several different ways to get different loads. Since these are Dual Voice Coil it is similar to having 2x the speakers. The R600X5 is good down to 2 ohms. So if you wired the subs in series to the second voice coil and then those to the AMP in parallel, you will end up with 2ohms and maximize what the amp is capable of. In my case I only had one sub with dual voice coil, so I planned on wiring in parallel only so I could get the extra power from the amp. Ohms law is handy to know in these situations. Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best sub(s) for this Rockford amp, I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the best subwoofer choice for your specific system and budget. [ Larry Mar 20, 2017 ] Staff
That is exactly how I am running mine. I have 4 R165X3 door speakers (4 ohms each) running to the 4 channels, then I have a 2 ohm 10" P1 sub to the 5th channel. You actually get 2x the power by having a 2 ohm load instead of 4 so I recommend it. The amp has nice built in crossovers for front rear and sub as well. [ Douglas Feb 27, 2016 ]
Yes you can run 1-4 at 4 ohms and sub at 2 or 4 ohms [ SALVATORE A Feb 25, 2016 ]
That's what the web site says on the specs, I have not installed this yet , but its the way I am planning on running it. [ Michael paul Feb 24, 2016 ]
You can use the 4-channel setting and the sub will still work when wired to the subwoofer channel on the amp, it's just that you won't have individual crossover/filter controls on the subwoofer channel in that case. If you wanted that ability you'd need to use an RCA splitter to split the rear outputs and run a separate RCA cable to the subwoofer input on the amp. This Monster RCA "Y" adapter would work well for that: http://www.crutchfield.com/p_119ILJRY2F/Monster-Cable-1-Male-2-Female-RCA-Y-adapter.html [ Larry Dec 26, 2015 ] Staff
The first four channels have HP/LP crossovers and are bridgeable to 2 channels. 150w x 2 RMS. The 5th channel IS a dedicated sub channel with 200w RMS @ 4 ohms and 300w RMS @ 2ohms. Presently I have a four channel Axxera mini amp running my front speakers (Polk Audio components in all four doors), and the 600x5 in 3 channel running my mid-bass Kicker 6 3/4s and a Rockford 12" HX2 (on the dedicated 5th channel). In your set-up, if you wanted to add some mid-bass, (80Hz to 250Hz), you could feasibly do so by using that 5th channel. It will NOT be in stereo, but it could be done. Or, if the worst happens and you fry your dedicated sub amplifier, you have a backup in the 5th channel. If you're asking about that 2ch/4ch/5ch switch, that's for input. The 5 channels on this amp can be used solely from a 2 channel input, (unlike my digital Axxera amps, lol). Feel free to ask me more questions anytime. Fritz [ James Dec 03, 2015 ]
If you have a radio with front and subwoofer preamp outputs, then I would set it to 5. Otherwise, I would set it to 2. [ Paul Nov 03, 2015 ] Staff
Yes, all of Rockford Fosgate's amplifiers are CEA compliant. [ James Aug 28, 2015 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: The RMS power output per channel on this amplifier is 50 watts RMS at 4 ohms and 75 watts RMS at 2 ohms. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Dec 21, 2014 ] Staff
May not be a good one to ask since I myself thought it was short on power & punch so I returned it to Crutchfield [ GREG Oct 08, 2014 ]
That depends on the output of your Subs. If they are 150 each then it would work but it is always better to be a little over powered on the amp side of things that way it does not have to work as hard. If I drive a 300 watts in Subs then I want no less than a 400 watt amp. 5 Channel amps are nice and cost more but you could buy 1 amp for your speakers and buy another just for the amps. I use Crutchfields house brand amps and they work great. You can buy 2 house brand amps for less than you would pay for a 5 channel amp. That will leave you money to buy cables and wire [ DUKE Oct 08, 2014 ]
It powers a single 12 just fine [ Eliseo Oct 03, 2014 ]
