Overview: The Onkyo CS-355 is a compact audio mini-system
with a built-in stereo amplifier, CD player, AM/FM tuner, front-panel USB port
for connection of an iPod/iPhone/iPad or USB flash memory device, and built-in
Bluetooth technology. It comes with a pair of 2-way speakers, and a wireless

Amplifier Section: The CS-355 is equipped with a two-channel
digital amplifier, which produces 15 watts per channel at 6Ω (1 kHz, 10% THD).
From the front-panel or remote, you can adjust the bass (100 Hz) and treble (10
kHz) by +/-10dB. The Super Bass control adds up to +8dB of bass (80 Hz) when
activated. The speaker outputs feature binding posts that allow you to connect
the speakers via bare wire, pin connectors, or single banana plugs. A collar
around the binding post prevents the use of spade lugs, and the terminals are
spaced too far apart for dual banana plugs.
CD Playback: The CS-355's single-disc CD player will play
Audio CDs and CD-R/CD-RW discs. Standard 12cm discs, as well as 8cm CDs can be
played. It will also play back MP3 (32-320 kbps) music files recorded with ISO
9660 Level 1/2; a maximum of 299 folders/648 files per folder can be recognized
on a single disc. Playback functions include; Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind,
Previous/Next Track, and Random/Repeat. The CD player features a single-bit D/A
AM/FM Tuner Section: The unit has an AM/FM tuner with
manual, seek, and preset tuning. You can store up to 30 AM and 30 FM station
presets. With the Auto Preset function, you can automatically preset all of the
FM radio stations available in your area. An AM loop antenna and FM wire antenna
Bluetooth A2DP (w/ aptX): The Onkyo CS-335's built-in
Bluetooth (v2.1+EDR) lets you wirelessly stream music from any Bluetooth-enabled device
supporting A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile). The unit can store the
pairing information of up to 8 Bluetooth devices (only one can be used at a
time). The CS-335 also supports aptX, an audio coding technology that works
within Bluetooth to wirelessly deliver CD-quality audio from your
Bluetooth-enabled device to the Onkyo system. With apt-X, you can listen to your
digital music files in crisp, pure, and full stereo sound. You will continue to
use your Bluetooth-enabled device to control playback and view artist/song

Front-Panel USB Port: The unit's front-panel USB (type-A) port allows you to connect a USB
Mass Storage Class (MSC) compliant device; such as your Android smartphone,
portable digital audio player, or USB thumbdrive. Your USB MSC device must be
formatted in FAT16 or FAT32. The USB port enables audio playback & control of
audio files stored on portable USB mass-storage class devices. Compatible music
file formats include MP3 (8-320 kbps); a maximum of 299 folders/648 files per
folder can be recognized on a single USB device. Basic playback functions
include; Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Next Track, and
Random/Repeat. In addition, the unit is compatible with ID3/WMA Tags and will
display song/artist information. USB portable audio players that can be charged
via USB will be charged when plugged into the unit's USB port.
"Made for iPod/iPhone/iPad":
You can also use the unit's front-panel USB (type-A) port to connect your Apple
iPod, iPhone, or iPad. Simply connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to the unit's
front-panel USB port via the cable that comes with your Apple device. The CS-355
supports audio playback, menu navigation, and charging
of your compatible Apple device. The CS-355 supports playback of music stored on
your iPod/iPhone/iPad, or music from downloaded apps (such as Pandora, Spotify,
or MOG). You can control music playback from the unit's remote control, or
continue to use your Apple device's clickwheel or touchscreen. You will continue
to use your Apple device's LCD screen to view song/artist information. While connected, your iPod/iPhone/iPad is charged via USB. The

Note: Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change
functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may
need to reset the unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this
doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is
Line Input: An auxiliary audio device, such as a TV, tape
deck or MP3 player, can be connected to the unit via the stereo RCA jacks on the
2-Way Speakers: The CS-445 comes with a pair of 2-way, 6Ω
speakers. The speakers feature a 3/4" balanced dome tweeter and a 3.9375"
woofer, loaded into a bass reflex enclosure (with front-firing port). The
speakers features a gloss-black cabinet with a black metal grille
(non-removable). The speakers have spring clip terminals, and come with two 42"
lengths of speaker wire. Other speaker specifications include:

Subwoofer Preamp Output: There is a mono RCA jack for
connecting a powered subwoofer.
Headphone Jack: For private listening, the CS-335 has a
front-panel 3.5mm minijack headphone output. When headphones are connected, the
unit's speakers are muted.
LCD: The white dot-matrix digital display has a 2-level dimmer feature
Remote Control: The CS-355 comes with an IR remote for wireless
operation of the system and your connected Apple (iPod/iPhone/iPad) or USB (MSC)
Timers: The CS-335 has a programmable timer for automated
playback, and a sleep timer for turning the system off after a specified period.
You can also use the alarm playback function of your iPod/iPhone to initiate
timer playback on the CD receiver. The timer can be used to start AM/FM, CD,
iPod/USB, or Aux playback at a specified time. You could, for example, use a
timer to turn on the CD receiver every morning, just like a radio alarm clock.
The sleep timer can be set between 90 and 10 minutes (in 10 minute increments).
Auto Standby: With Auto Standby, you can set the system so that it
will automatically turned off and enter the standby mode if there is no
operation and no audio input for 20 minutes.
