The 'C390 not only plays regular CDs, but also your home-burned CD-Rs and CD-RWs, and even long-playing MP3 discs! This changer also sports a unique 6-disc carousel design that lets you change five discs while the sixth keeps playing. Next Selection lets you "cue up" the next song you want to hear without interrupting the song that's currently playing. And the remote gives you easy control of your music from across the room — its direct disc and track access lets you quickly locate exactly the track you want to hear.

Product Research

Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry (VLSC): The DX-C390 uses Vector Linear Shaping Circuitry to remove stray pulse noise for a smoother, richer analog output signal.

Direct Digital Path: Direct Digital Path signal routing provides a shorter, cleaner path from the signal processing PC board to the digital outputs than typically found on other players. This direct signal path routing is used to prevent corruption of the signal by noise from the ICs and power supply.

MP3 Playback: This unit will play MP3 files recorded onto CD-R, and CD-RW discs using the ISO 9660 level 1/level 2, Romeo, or Joliet formats. MP3 files with a sampling rate of 8-48 kHz and a bit-rate of 8-320 kbps are supported. Fixed bit-rate MP3 files are recommended, however, variable bit-rate MP3 files are supported. Each disc can have a maximum of 499 files and 99 folders.

Disc Exchange: You can exchange up to 5 discs while playing a sixth; once the drawer is open, 2 CDs can be changed, then you must use the Disc Skip button to remove the remaining three.

Next Selection: This feature allows you to choose the next track, folder, or disc for playback, without interrupting the current song playing.

RI: RI remote control input and output mini-jacks allow you to transmit remote codes from a compatible Onkyo unit to this unit.

Note: When only the RI cable is connected, remote control operation is not possible; the audio cables must also be connected.

Not many retailers stocks multiple cd disk players, but for those of us with large collections of original and copied cd disks it is the only way to listen to our music without having to hop up and down to replace an individual disk every time a single disk play is completed. specs, reviews [ Glen  Mar 07, 2017 ]
I needed a CD player. The old one went down and with over 2000 cds, it needed to be replaced. I saw this display unit at a closing HHGregg...and for some reason, they wouldn't let me buy it. I checked Crutchfield...and the price for a new one was the same as the HHGregg display model. Good reviews made it a no brainer. [ Robert C.  Mar 06, 2017 ]
I read the online reviews and they seem to be very positive. Plus, I like the idea of a 6 disc CD changer as apposed to a 5 disc changer. Also, Onkyo has been known for years to produce quality products - especially CD players! Barnaby [ Barnaby  Mar 05, 2017 ]

Good consumer reports across the board...good price, excellent value. [ Franz  Feb 22, 2017 ]
Generally good reviews on many websites. This Onkyo DX-C390 will replace an ancient (but still working) Sony CDP-297. Hope the changer works WELL and the sound quality from my BMW speakers is as good or better than what I have with my old Sony player. The other key component in my setup is a Jungson JA-88E amplifier. Have high hopes! [ Gail  Jan 15, 2017 ]

Yes! It has a standby feature on the remote that when pressed will power off the unit . When you want to resume, you just press "on" and voila, you pickup right where you left off. [ Walt  Apr 28, 2017 ]
I've never tried this feature until asked the question, the stop/resume didn't work, the player actually had to be played from the beginning. I'm very happy with the player. [ Marion  Apr 28, 2017 ]
No it does not! [ Jim Le  Apr 28, 2017 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget. [ Krissy  Apr 23, 2017 ]  Staff
Thanks for your question. Due to the box size this item ships in the manufacturer's box so information would be visible. We can ship items to a work location, relative, etc. if there are concerns with shipping. Hope this helps. [ Kenny  Feb 13, 2017 ]  Staff
In addition to the regular RCA and or digital connectors, you will need a male to male mono 3.5 mm connector. It was included with the cd changer, and instructions are in the user manual. I'm pretty sure the receiver also came with a cable. [ Judy  Nov 27, 2016 ]
Sorry, I can't help you. What's a DAC?? [ SANDRA  Nov 04, 2016 ]
An online source (unverified) says that it is a Wolfson WM8726 DAC. Other sources just say Wolfson. [ David  Nov 04, 2016 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on selecting the best receiver for your cd player I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences between the models and help you make the best choice for your system. [ Kenny  Jul 08, 2016 ]  Staff
Yes, you need an amplifier. The specs listed on the Onkyo website for this model don't actually give the output levels, but it is clear that this player must feed its output to an amplifier to which speakers are attached. Of course, if you use self-powered speakers, they have the amplifier built in, so that would work as well. [ David  Jul 10, 2016 ]
You need a receiver. Any cheap receiver will do. Or a universal device that includes a receiver, with audio inputs, such as a Bose Soundwave. But... I bought this Onkyo and it broke within 20 hours of use. It won't load or play CDs properly. I'd buy a cheap Sony or Kenwood (if available) model instead. [ Benjamin  Jul 09, 2016 ]
you need a receiver or amplifier [ Kathryn  Jul 08, 2016 ]
According to the Onkyo DX-C390 owner's manual, the unit's dimensions are 17-1/8"W x 5-3/16"H x 17"D. That's one and a quarter inches less in depth compared to the dimensions listed in the Overview text. [ Martin  Nov 22, 2016 ]
Thanks for your question. The manufacturer lists the dimensions as: 17-1/8"W x 5-3/16"H x 18-1/4"D. This information is kind of hidden. On the product page overview, click "Read More". Hope this information helps. [ Kenny  Jul 08, 2016 ]  Staff
Thanks for your question. There is one digital optical output and there is no cable included. You can find this information on the product page under the details tab, with the subheadings "what's in the box", and "outputs". Hope that helps. [ Kenny  Apr 18, 2016 ]  Staff
Do you mean for amplification purposes? If so, the answer is no. The Onkyo doesn't have any input jacks; only output jacks -- so you wouldn't be able to plug the tuner into the Onkyo. [ PHILIP S  Mar 11, 2016 ]
I had a Sony receiver in place when I replaced my previous CD changer with the DX390. I had no issues integrating it into my system. I can't imagine that it would not be compatible to another Onkyo product, but again, I cannot speak from experience. [ Ray  Mar 11, 2016 ]
Thanks for your question. No there is no radio tuner built into this item. It would need to be connected to a separate receiver for playback. Hope that helps. [ Kenny  Feb 22, 2016 ]  Staff
I replaced a brand new SONY with the Onkyo TX830 and I'm really glad I did. Sound quality and reliability are excellent. - Ray [ RAY  Feb 09, 2016 ]
I'm not a good person to ask this question to. I've never been able to get mine hooked up and running, even my husband was unable to get it up and running, so it just sits and collects dust [ ANN  Feb 09, 2016 ]
If you are asking, "Is the Onkyo carousel CD player compatible with the TX380 receiver?" the answer is yes: totally compatible. [ PHILIP S  Feb 09, 2016 ]
Yes it is. It's compatible with most receivers [ john  Feb 08, 2016 ]
Yes it will, this unit has RCA, or digital coaxial and optical outputs. For connection to your Kenwood would just use the standard analog RCA (red/white) cables. This is a new unit. [ Kenny  Dec 23, 2015 ]  Staff
Sorry - don't know answer. Happy with performance of unit domestically [ REY T  Nov 25, 2015 ]
No I don't believe so. [ john  Nov 24, 2015 ]
You can get a universal remote that will control the player (and many other devices) but if you want the Onkyo RC-777C remote that came packaged with the player, you may be able to get one from their parts department. You can reach their parts department directly by dialing : 201-785-2600 I hope that helps! [ Ryan  Nov 06, 2015 ]  Staff
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone or online chat to discuss compatibility with your current system. They will be able to pull up your gear and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff  Jan 10, 2014 ]  Staff
