Must Have for GM Owner with a Budget

Kit from Pensacola, FL on 2/23/2008

If you have a GM, then you know that it's not easy to modify your system cheaply. I've got an 80g ipod and Sirius that are now totally wired into my deck thanks to USA SPEC INTERFACE. With two aux outputs, I switch between the sources through my factory radio, cause it thinks i've added a cd changer. I installed it myself with the help of the crutchfield intructions, couldnt have been easier, and hid the wires the way I wanted to. I even tried the FM antenna adaptor for my sirius before, and it pales in comparison to this. I'm so impressed with the product, and am finally happy with the completeness of my car audio.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I had the Interface installed at a local shop so I cannot talk about the installation, but the product works great. The only down side was that it does not come with a cable to actually connect it to the iPod so that was purchased from the aduio store(I got the one that charges also). Other than that it works great.

Features

Compatibility: The DF-GM allows you to add two auxiliary inputs to the factory radio in select General Motors vehicles. The adapter plugs into the factory radio using the supplied cables, avoiding wire splicing and modifications. The DF-GM is designed to co-exist with a factory CD changer, XM satellite tuner, DVD system, or navigation system.

Control Mode: The DF-GM can integrate with the factory radio using either the CD changer or XM Radio controls. If the radio has CD changer controls but no changer, use that control mode and lose no XM functions. If the vehicle has a CD changer and XM controls, use the XM control mode and access the auxiliary input on the XM1 band, leaving the XM2 band unaffected, meaning you have access to your CD changer, XM tuner, and auxiliary sources. If using the XM control mode you'll need to splice one wire to the factory XM tuner.

Mounting: The adapter can be secured to any flat surface using the supplied mounting screws.

Connections: The adapter has two auxiliary inputs (Audio Input 1 and 2) on the left side panel. Each input consists of left and right RCA audio jacks. On the right side panel the adapter has a round 8-pin jack that interfaces with the supplied CAS-F12 cable. The opposite end of the CAS-F12 cable plugs into the CAS-G7i cable which plugs into the factory radio harness.

Cables:

  • CAS-G7i: Rectangular 12 and 24 pin Molex plugs on each end (insert between factory radio and factory wiring); Two rectangular 12 pin Molex inputs, for CAS-F12 cable and existing factory input
  • CAS-F12: Rectangular 12-pin female connector on one end (plugs into CAS-F20 harness); Round 8-pin male connector on the other end (plugs into auxiliary input module)
