USA Spec iPod® Interface for Nissan
Connects your iPod to select 2003-up Infiniti and Nissan factory stereos
Our take on the USA Spec iPod® Interface for Nissan by Crutchfield's Zak Billmeier
You can take it with you. Just because you've got a factory radio in your Infiniti or Nissan, doesn't mean you have to leave your iPod (and the hours and hours of music it contains) at home. Just install USA SPEC's iPod interface — it not only allows you to listen to all your favorite tunes through your car's speakers, it even lets you control song and playlist selections right from your radio. And with your iPhone® connected, you can even stream music from popular Internet services like PANDORA®, Livio Radio, iHeartRadio, and more.
Just mount the compact interface box in a hidden location in your vehicle, and connect the adapter cable to your compatible Infiniti or Nissan factory radio. Plug your iPod into the interface — you can control volume, source, song selection, and up to five different play lists right from the radio. It'll even display song info when used with newer vehicles equipped with a satellite-ready factory stereo. And the interface charges most iPods while connected.
You'll get a handy auxiliary input for connecting other sources, such as a satellite radio or another type of MP3 player.
Please enter your vehicle information or call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 to find out if this adapter is compatible with your vehicle.
Compatibility Note: If you have a newer iPod/iPhone device with a Lightning connector, then you will also need Apple's Lightning to 30-pin adapter. Be sure to check "Details" for specific iPod model compatibility with this iPod adapter.
The product works exactly as specified. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

USA Spec iPod® Interface for Nissan Reviews
Average Customer Review(s):
Thanks for submitting your review
Overview: The USA SPEC PA15-INFI interface connects a compatible iPod to select Infinity and Nissan audio systems. Its on-board software translates commands from your factory radio's CD-changer or Satellite Radio controls into commands the iPod understands. This interface enables the iPod to coexist with your factory system and provides a line-level input to your audio system for optimal sound quality. Please consult the Crutchfield Car Selector to see if your vehicle is compatible.
iPod Charging: The iPod's internal battery is charged whenever it's connected to the PA15-INFI; charging stops automatically 30 minutes after the ignition is turned off or the iPod is paused.
iPod Compatibility: The PA15-INFI is "Made for iPod/iPhone" compatible and supports the following iPod/iPhone model features when connected to a compatible Nissan or Infinity factory radio (as of 3/4/2015):
|iPod/iPhone Model||Generation||Tested Version||Media Type||Control Type||Display Type||Charge|
|Audio||Video||Head Unit||iPod/iPhone||Song/Artist Text||Track Info|
- *Requires Apple Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (sold separately).
- Apple iPod/iPhone software updates may change functionality results. If you download a newer software version, you may need to reset the head unit and your iPod/iPhone to regain functionality. If this doesn't work, you may need to wait until a newer software update is available.
Controls: There are two modes of controlling your iPod:
- Folder Mode: access three folders (Playlist, Artist, and Album) on your iPod from your factory radio
- Direct Mode: all the controls on the iPod are unlocked, giving you total control remotely; the radio still has basic controls; track up, track down, fast forward, and fast reverse
App Streaming (in Direct Mode): Direct mode also lets you listen to the sound from your iPhone's downloaded music apps (such as Pandora, iHeart Radio, SiriusXM, etc.) through your factory head unit & speakers. You will continue to control your iPhone's apps & view song/artist information from its touchscreen.
Note: Your iPhone will need an active Data Plan account with connection to the Internet via 3G, EDGE, or WiFi. You will also need applicable music service accounts.
iPod Text: The Artist name and song title text can be displayed on the radio when using the Folder control mode.
Auxiliary Input: In addition to the iPod input on the PA15-INFI there is an auxiliary input (RCA) for use with another source, such as a DVD system, satellite radio, etc. This aux input can be used with or without the iPod connected.
Vehicle Compatibility: This interface enables your iPod to co-exist with the factory navigation, CD changer, Satellite Radio receiver, and DVD system of many Infinity and Nissan vehicles; please check the Crutchfield Vehicle Selector to confirm compatibility.

No it only wires an iPod to the car so you can work the iPod music on the dash controls [ JOHN Dec 20, 2015 ]
I am certain it is two different systems. In my 2007 M35x, I connect my iphone5 via the Bluetooth capability that came with the stock car audio system. I can use the cars microphone (near the driver side visor above my head) and speakers to talk and listen. The ipod interface only allows me to play songs on my iphone5 through the car stereo and charges the iphone5. I have also connected a 30 pin to lightening adapter to use my iphone5. I am not sure what the '05 Qx56's audio system comes with. [ DARRYL Dec 19, 2015 ]
1 answer I have an 04 maxima with sat button, bose sound system no nav. I wanted to know if it would work, I have never used the sat button and do not know where antenna would be. Any ideas on how to check to be sure this interface would work? When I type in vehicle info it says it will then asks me again if it had a factory radio then says it will not. [ confused owner Dec 18, 2014 ]
You will want to contact an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat to discuss compatibility with your factory system. They will be able to pull up your vehicle and see if this will integrate. If it does not, then they will also be able to discuss other options with you. [ Jeff Dec 19, 2014 ] Staff

J E, Sorry, I use it only for an old school IPod Classic. Not sure how compatible it would be for a new IPhone with Pandora, etc. You'd be better off trying to contact the USA Spec folks. [ DANIEL M Apr 28, 2014 ]

I have it installed on my 04 g35c and I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.02 and it plays any type of audio I have on my phone, YouTube, pandora, spotify and even when I play games. [ FERNANDO Apr 27, 2014 ]
J E, Yes this product supports iOS 6 and above. It works with my iPhone 5 with the lightning adapter running iOS 7. Just set your radio to aux mode and you can control pandora etc directly from your ipod or change tracks using the radio interface. So far I used with with pandora and slacker and they work just fine. Hope that helps. [ DEVIN Apr 27, 2014 ]
