Overview

Our take on the Logitech® Harmony® Elite

The Logitech Harmony Elite is an advanced universal remote control system that lets you control your home entertainment system and your home automation devices with the same device.

Both entertainment and home automation control

The Logitech Harmony Elite is an advanced universal remote control system that lets you control your home entertainment system and your home automation devices with the same device.

Logitech Harmony Elite

The Elite includes a Harmony Hub for Wi-Fi (left), a rechartgeable remote (center),and a free control app (right) (smartphone not included).

You can control up to 15 different home theater components, as well as a variety of home automation devices from leading manufacturers like Philips, LIFX, August™ smart locks, Nest®, Honeywell®, and more.  The system gives you everything you need — a free downloadable app, a wireless hub to forward commands from your phone to your A/V components, and a powerful remote for others to use.

Streamline your life with the intuitive Harmony App

Harmony's free app is available to both iPhone® and Android™ users. Swipe your smartphone's touchscreen to change from one component's control panel to the next. You can group commands together under one-touch activity icons for both entertainment and home automation control.

Tap "Watch Movie" for example, and the app automatically turns on your TV, receiver, and Blu-ray player — whatever combination is required to make it work in your system. Select “Good Morning,” and your Lutron-controlled blinds open and lights turns on, your Nest thermostat raises the temperature, and your bedroom stereo system starts playing music.

And because the system operates via Wi-Fi, you can use an Internet connection with your smartphone to remotely control your home automation devices. Turn on the porch light as you drive up, or make sure the August™ smart lock on your front door is set from the office.

Control devices behind closed doors

The Harmony Hub connects to your home Wi-Fi® network and converts signals from your smartphone into infrared (IR) signals your components can understand. This handy low-profile hub comes with two infrared mini-blasters so you can control components stored behind closed cabinet doors.

Game consoles are covered, too. The hub uses Bluetooth® to communicate with your PS3® and Wii® consoles and uses IR for controlling your Xbox 360® or Xbox One™. That eliminates the need for extra remotes, and frees up USB connections on your consoles.

All this and a powerful hand-held remote, too

The Elite system comes with an ergonomically-designed remote that fits comfortably in your hand. Its large swipe and tap touchscreen lets you quickly navigate through functions, and it features the same one-touch entertainment and home automation controls as the app.

The remote uses vibration feedback to confirm when it receives your command, so you don't have to look away from the TV. Just place the remote on its charging station to keep its rechargeable batteries powered up. But even if you forget to replace it, don't worry. The touchscreen and backlighting for the buttons are motion-activated, so they automatically shut off when the remote's not in use.

Easy setup

Simple, guided setup has always been a big part of Harmony's success. To get started, just download the free MyHarmony software to your Mac or PC. Then connect the Harmony Hub to it via the provided USB cable. MyHarmony will help you program your remote by asking some simple questions about your system and how you use it. It then downloads the commands and command sequences and wirelessly send them to your remote through the Hub. And you can use MyHarmony to update your remote whenever you upgrade your system with new gear.

    REMOTE - ALMOST PERFECT

Mike from Enumclaw, WA on 4/22/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First - Would I buy it again. YES! What they don't tell you. The Remote and Hub only work on a 2.4 GHz signal. When you use your smartphone and APP, they all need to be connected to the same network account. Although other reviewers have stated that the Remote has an extended range for a direct connection with the Hub, it does have it's limits. For our home, the extended range was not enough. My other problem was my using an older Wi-Fi (over 6 years old). It did not have a range that would connect the phone with the Hub when I was in front of the TV. When I was able to stand where I could see the TV and control the system with my phone, the response was painfully slow. I am assuming that this is due to my older Wi-Fi system. I have now ordered a new fast/extended range Wi-Fi that will connect my phone with the Hub when I am in front of the TV. I am hoping the response will be much faster with the new Wi-Fi. If you have multiple Hubs, the Remote will only communicate with one at a time. It takes the phone to switch the Remote between the different Hubs. Doable, but extra effort. On a separate note, we have two TV systems in the home. The second works flawlessly with the Remote since it is within range of the Hub. At this point, once everything is in place using only one amp, I am not sure if I can control both systems independently with only one Hub. This may require a second Hub in the closet. This is a future project so the jury is still out.

Pros: It controls both IR and RF. Tech support is helpful and quick. In "normally" sized homes, I think the system will work without workarounds. The Elite also has a feature to throw an IR signal to devices that are not hidden in a closet. So it will control your TV (that you don't keep in the closet). For most, there are way more PROs than CONs.

Cons: Multiple systems in larger homes may be a challenge. The learning curve is steep for these types of systems. The Remote range with the Hub is limited. Using a phone (with APP) may result in a slow response through Wi-Fi (read details for more info). Each Hub has a limit of 15 devices.

Great RF Remote and IR Blaster

Mike from Blanco, TX on 4/16/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Love the remote. It was relatively simple to set up although i did have to contact support twice. The first problem was pairing the remote, which Tech Support was able to do remotely. The second problem was configuring the remote to operate the TV. All the peripherals were located in a remote media closet and worked fine. It was a simple change in configuration of the TV from "hub and remote" to "remote only". Tech Support was prompt -- less than a minute wait time in both cases and solved the problems in minutes. Prior remotes had trouble accessing the remote media closet, which necessitated IR transmission via a pair of Cat 5 and baluns. The Logitech Elite RF signal is strong enough to penetrate two walls and works flawlessly. The IR Blaster works well too. I had concern about not having a dedicated IR wire to each device. The two include IR blasters worked with all my components --- another pleasant surprise. Would I recommend this remote? You betcha.

    Pros: Tech support was stellar

Cons: Instructions were a bit skimpy

One of Harmony/Logitech's better A/V Remotes

Mitch from Warrenton, VA on 4/16/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good Remote once you get it set up. I had a great deal of difficulty transferring/upgrading from a previous (Ultimate) remote. But, once you get it set up it is a big improvement. All of the features are much more responsive that previous iterations. I have used a longe line of at least six high end Logitech Remotes and I have to admit that this is likely to be one of the best ever. I have already added a second remote to the hub so that my wife has her own. I have not tried to integrate the Smart Home features because they are automated through a different system.

    Pros: Fast

Cons: Set up is clunky. Definitely easier on mobile apps than with a laptop. Dont try to upgrade from a prior/start a fresh install

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works perfect for my theater. Activity customization allows me to switch hdmi output for tv or projector. Controls my HUE lights and my Nest thermostat. Hub setup went perfect. No issues at all. Controls all my devices perfectly. Only lame part was that you cannot copy activities or devices from another Harmony remote setup if you're upgrading. I had to renter all my devices and recreate all my activities with customizations.

Pros: Easy setup Works with all devices Mobile app works great Hub is awesome for closer media cabinet

Cons: Harmony web setup doesn't allow copy of existing devices or activities.

Very easy to program, I had a URC remote(RF) and had to have the Installer program It each time I wanted to make a change, with the elite I can do all f this and more in under 10 minutes. Works perfect all the time.

Pros: Fast and easy to set up, works every time.

    Cons: None found

    Great remote!

Joe from Rockton, IL on 2/12/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

1st Harmony I've purchased. For the most part set up was a breeze by using your cell phone and the app. Though when it got to setting up the remote itself the directions left you stranded. I worked through it. It is great to get rid of 5 remotes and use just this one. My 7 yo works it without hardly any guidance. Definitely see having this remote for a long time!! Love it!

Pros: Easy to use, #'s available in LED, great battery life

    Cons: None so far!

Excellent product so far. Doesn't communicate very well with the apps within the Amazon fire TV. Have to program the individual key strokes to open Netflix rather than a standard preprogrammed activity of "watch Netflix" via roku. The hub has opened up all sorts of commands to operate my entertainment system that I didn't have before.

Richard from Montvale, NJ on 2/4/2018

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got the Elite to replace an aging Harmony One that just wouldn't die. But I needed a remote that wouldn't force us to keep it pointed at the equipment when pressing buttons, particularly when rewinding or fast-forwarding. All equipment were recognized and easily installed during setup with iPad. I did have an issue with pairing the Hub with the Fire TV (2nd generation), but this was eventually resolved after resetting both units 4-5 times. And the long-standing problem with sending IR signals to the Samsung cable box was easily resolved by strategically placing a supplied IR blaster connected to the Hub. The Harmony remote keeps getting better and better.

    Pros: Ease of setup

Cons: Initial setup with Fire TV

Anonymous from Mequon, WI on 12/21/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Very nice universal remote. Well worth the additional $$$ over the other Logictech remotes. The WiFi and Hub are key features that sets this remote apart from others. I like that you don't have to keep the remote pointed and the components you are controlling. This feature seems to help keep everything in sync. The setup software for PC/MAC is really user friendly. If your looking at a Logictech remote, Spend the extra money and get this one. I upgraded from my previous Logictech and its well worth it. I highly recommend this remote!

Pros: WiFi Connectivity & RF Hub Nice blend of touch screen and hard buttons. Easy to setup and configure.

Cons: A little pricey, but it's packed with very nice features.

Pros: It works as advertised. Very intuitive remote once it is configured.

John from Bel Air, MD on 7/28/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm moving from a Harmony 900 with an in cabinet IR blaster to the Harmony Elite. I really like the Elite, but with a few exceptions. Number keys are no longer on the remote, but are provided via soft keys. I didn't notice this before I purchased the remote, but I often select channels via the number keypad, so I find this an inconvenience. The second negative is the loss of separate skip/Fast forward keys. The remote now uses a single key with short duration vs log duration press to get two separate functions. I have TiVo and the default for these keys is backward in my opinion. I had to change the short duration press and assign it to Skip to take advantage of 30 second skip. The third negative is that the Help key is now buried in the soft keys. Other than these negatives, I like the hub functionality (I can now use my iPhone if I can't locate the remote) and the ease of programing.

    Cons:

    Awesome Media Closet Solution

Mike from Fredericksburg, TX on 3/23/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My AV receiver, Blue-Ray player, and Direct TV box/DVR are behind a closed closet door in the top of the closet. The LCD TV is in the living room. I was thinking about an IR repeater system but after talking to the Crutchfield rep, he described the Harmony Elite system to me and it seemed like a better solution - easier to implement, easy to add components, and easy to customize. Programming was straightforward and it works perfectly. I did the initial programming with the PC app and subsequent adjustments with the mobile app from my iPhone. I turn the TV on using the remote directly using IR, and the components in the closet are controlled by WIFI and IR (remote to hub via WIFI, hub to components via IR). We watch TV with surround sound, stream Netflix and Amazon from the Blue-Ray player, watch DVD/Blue-Ray disks, and listen to CDs on the Blue-Ray player. Even the DVR is controlled with the remote. Awesome!

Pros: Easy to implement Easy to add or change components Easy to customize Great remote control Great price, compared to a custom install by an AV technician

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Overall please with the purchase. Love that fact these now have Lithium Ion batteries and not NiMH or other. Easy to setup even with multiple zones/devices being controlled. Definitely wish the unit shipped with the more common 3.5mm mono plugs as my automation/IR distribution systems does not use the 1.8mm plugs. The only reason for 4 stars: when I change channels up/down and attempt to adjust the volume following a channel change - the volume button changes the channel. When I select a channel from my favorites via the touch screen, the volume button functions as a volume button.

Pros: Ease of use for the entire family Simple-ish setup for multiple zone systems - super simple for basic setups Ergonomics

    Cons: 1.8mm IR outputs

    Great Remote

Unit is the easiest remote I have ever set up. It took roughly 10 minutes to complete the task. Rated it a 4 due to having to punch hole through wall and place one of the repeaters close to the TV. All of my other components are in a cabinet in a different room.

Pros: Easy to set up and use.

Cons: Needs to work in direct site of the TV as well as with components in separate room.

this remote replaced my old Harmony 1000. I must say the build quality and ergonomics are better! the set up is much easier now that you can do it via your phone app and updates happen automatically via Wi-Fi. It's also great that I can control my nest thermostat right from the device! The only issue I have is that sometimes I have to press commands more than once in order for it to action the command. Other than that, it's a great product and I would highly recommend it. I do wish the touch screen was a little bigger!

Pros: Egonomics, easy to set up. Great functionality

Cons: spotty range, needs bigger touch screen.

    Larry from Boston on 3/1/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This little gizmo is a technological marvel. I bought to replace an older Harmony and was thrilled with the improvements they've made over the years. No more wires attached to your components. The hub wirelessly connects thru your home wifi. Set up is a breeze although I recommend via pc rather than thru iPhone. I control TV, bluray (DVD/Pandora, Slacker radio, etc) and a multi CD player, all housed in a closed closet in an adjacent hallway, with 1 smart remote. It even lets you program favorite TV channels. All in all, a wonderful accessory that puts your remotes in a drawer and makes life easier. Love it!

Pros: State of the art, sharp looking, completely wireless, easy set up, great online Harmony support.

Cons: A bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

    Logitech Wi Fi remote

Retired in SB from Santa Barbara, CA on 2/22/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replace the old IR Harmony 1 with this new Wi Fi Remote so I could keep my equipment behind closed doors. This remote is very easy to program, much easier than the Harmony 1, which required going on line and establishing a profile, choosing devices and so forth. I would have given it higher marks, except that for reasons unknown, it occasionally just stop working. I have to go back in the drawer and find all the old device remotes and do it the old fashioned way, which is to say that while the device remotes work, the Logitech does not. Annoying.

Pros: Easy to use and program

    Cons: Occasionally Stops working

The Crutchfield team suggested this solution for me and it exactly fit my need. I had one question from the setup which was answered immediately. I want to thank the team and their professionalism and knowledge.

Pros: - Simplified operating all my devices and activists to one button presses. - easy to setup - eliminates remote clutter - convienent charging stand - works easily with smart devices - made for home control and home entertainment system

Terry from Eustis, FL on 2/15/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Once the Harmony Elite is set up, it's good to use. Setting it up is quite a lengthy process, and naturally, as one uses it, a certain amount of tweaking is needed. My prior remote, Harmony One, had more hard keys which I found more useful that mostly using the screen for changes. Hard keys missed are the skipping keys (jumping segments forward and backward on a recorded show), the numeric keypad, and the page up and page down (when using the guide). On the bright side, the radio frequency feature, including the Harmony Hub and the two additional blaster units, works very good. Prior to getting the remote, I was a little skeptical about whether it would work, but there is no problem with it. Once you get over the learning curve and figure out how to do the settings, plus digging your way through the Harmony web site, you will find this to be a remote control worth having.

Pros: Works good after set up.

Cons: Set up is tedious and some hard keys are missed.

    Worth the money.

Pros: Solid construction. Not flimsy plastic but well designed interfaces and asethetics. Setup was straightforward and overall it works as expected.

Cons: Logitech servers were down when trying to finalize setup. The servers contain the DB information for the thousands of devices the remote supports. Cryptic error message shows up when this situation is encountered and the only recourse is to log into Logitech again and hope setup can be finalized otherwise you have to wait out the error. The Wife Is Happy - No More Multiple Remotes

Matt from Broken Arrow, OK on 1/31/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Having numerous audio/visual devices, you were stuck with multiple remotes or with a all-in-one remote that you still had to fumble through a myriad of settings just to get your TV on, receiver set to proper inputs and your cable/sat box to the right channel. Not with the Logitech Harmony Elite. Simple setup by following the included instructions. Once you complete the setup, (I recommend doing it via the webpage and not the app, much easier) a simple press of the activity and everything related to that activity comes on. Even watching Amazon Fire TV is as simple as a single button press and I can control it with this remote (Yes, it has Bluetooth) without reaching for the Amazon remote. I personally love using the remote because of the back-light that comes on the second you pick up the remote. I know others like the phone/tablet app (which work great by themselves, but I don't recommend shutting off everything while your significant other is watching and you are sitting in a hotel room on a business trip. Oops.) but when I'm watching TV I want to disconnect myself from my mobile devices. The remote has all my favorites via icons that I can just press and my SAT box goes to those channels, not to mention, I love using the gestures to pause, play, rewind or fast forward with just a tap, or swipe of my finger. Amazon Echo integration is wonderful and now the wife tells Alexa to turn the TV on before she even says hello to me.

Pros: Rechargeable Batteries Back-light Phone/Tablet App Amazon Echo compatibility Huge device catalog list

Cons: Tad Bit Expensive Some setup learning

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great tool. But like others have said, there is a learning curve to get it properly setup. Once you've got all your devices paired up, you can simply select an Activity and it will press the appropriate sequence of buttons to simultaneously turn on your TV, your cable box, your surround sound equipment, and then it will move everything to the appropriate inputs, etc. Very handy and convenient! And, if you have an Amazon Echo, you can pair it up to that too. Being able to say "Alexa, turn on the Television" and not have to fumble around with remote controls is pretty awesome!

Pros: Very functional and can handle complex functions

Cons: Learning curve to assign devices and to pair it up with Amazon Echo, assign Favorite channels, etc.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

very good system. set up for some of the activities are a bit complex or need adjusting. Really like that you can use your phone as a second remote. Learning curve for actually using it is moderate but is there. Support from Harmony re set up and adjustments very well done. Same for Crutchfield although I had the feeling the crutchfield techs were looking things up as we went. Mixed messages from Harmony about whether you can still use other remotes without upsetting the Harmony remote.

Pros: Truly eliminates the need for other remotes. Link to IPhone as secondary remote Link to other wifi products: Alexa, Nest Great support

Cons: Big Bucks Learning curve for setup and use of some activities

Wonderful upgrade from older Harmony One!

Gordon from Holliston, MA on 1/4/2017

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This replaced an older Harmony One unit which had the optional IR Blaster. Everything about it is significantly improved, and the old unit was already pretty good. Previous settings were able to be imported, which was a great feature. Also, the old Blaster transmitters that were previously installed in the stereo cabinet simply plugged right into the new hub and were reusable, which saved some time and effort - very nice. The set-up software was easy to follow and more intuitive than before, and the remote itself is far less cluttered and more logically laid out. The hub required a Bluetooth connection for set-up, then used only Wi-Fi once connected. Installing and using the iPad app was simple, and it provides a great alternative/supplement to the remote for those that like to see their control options spread out across a larger touch-pad surface. All-in-all, this is a significant and very thoughtfully-designed step forward for the Harmony line, adding new features while preserving some legacy compatibility and familiar operating concepts. Well worth the upgrade!

I was very skeptical about this product actually working, but to my amazement it really does. This remote is fantastic and quite frankly I don't know how I lived without it for so long. The activities function of this remote are worth their weight in gold. It automatically turns everything on and off in whatever sequence you program it. I am pretty sure anyone who can read can figure out this remote. It is very intuitive.

    Harmony Elite Fantastic Remote

Jim from Goodyear, AZ on 12/17/2016

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This remote control is fantastic! I had a URC MX-3000 that was supposed to be the best. However, the Harmony Elite is much faster, and it is user programmable. I found the online menus to be extremely easy to use for programming the remote. Any problems I encountered were easily fixed by calling customer support. Logitech tech reps always seemed to know exactly what I was looking for, and they guided me through effortlessly to achieve my goal. You can also individually reprogram certain buttons on the remote for functions that are not already included. I was amazed that the remote buttons easily match up to the buttons on my Directv remote (such as fast forward/reverse, guide, dir program lists, etc.) This is a fantastic remote control. I control a Samsung LED 4k Smart TV, a Genie DirecTV DVR, a Yamaha surround sound receiver, an Apple TV, and a Denon receiver for multiple music zones in my house.

Pros: Easily programmable by end user Nice style/fit in your hand Well designed Nice variety of buttons to match up with Directv remote

Cons: Nothing really. I had to call Logitech tech support a few times to guide me through some advance programming.

Pro - Once set up, the remote works very well and allows easy control of a TV in one room with all equipment one floor below in the basement. I have four activities defined, one for TV and three for music in various rooms. Con - Extremely difficult to set up with essentially no usable instructions. I found myself sitting in front of my equipment with various equipment specific remotes contemplating what was going on and trying various approaches, all by trial and error, until I got it set up the way I wanted. A number of commands needed to be changed from the default settings to make things work.

    Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

We have had it for about three months now and it is great. It replaced an older lesser model that stopped working after it had an unfortunate accident with a wall one day when it was not cooperating. I would give it 5 stars but for some reason it likes to log onto Netflix sometimes when I turn on the TV. They obviously know that this is an issue since it has a 'help' button which automatically fixes the issue once you press it. I still haven't figured out why it does it. Definitely one of the best remotes I have owned though. We love the feature that lets us control the lights too.

Pros: Easy to use and set up Easily controls multiple devices including lights

Cons: Logs on to Netflix when turning on the TV Price is a bit high

I needed to replace an older Logitech RF universal remote. I wanted to use my iPhone to control my AV system, which is located in a closet, away from the viewing area. However, my wife, who isn't tech/app savvy, as well as other houseguests needed a simple, physical remote to control the same system... this was the perfect solution. It was easy to set up and works great. This remote is better than my old Logitech as the display is more straightforward and the fixed function buttons are fewer. I haven't set this up with other activities like a nest thermostat or lights/blinds but look forward to it if/when the opportunity arises.

The Harmony Elite Is an excellent product. I have used and programmed remotes for years. Most of the higher end & custom install remotes don't hold a candle to the value of this remote. I am running a fairly typical home theater system, 5 channel, AppleTV, AV system. Amp, preamp, disc player, AppleTV, television. The remote not only works properly with the equipment, each of the hard buttons on the individual equipment remotes is also working properly on the Harmony elite. It was even easy to populate many dozen channel icons for television viewing. Very pleased with the quality & performance/price ratio.

Overall a pretty good compromise, coming from a Universal Remote MX-950. Very easy to set up and like the use of iPad to function as remote. It is responsive and functions very well. I would recommend and would purchase again.

Pros: Easy to set up, functions very well - overall far easier to set up, maintain and use than older Universal Remote and also works better. Ability to program through iPad and use iPad as remote is nice feature. Price is far more reasonable to Universal Remote purchase in 2006.

Cons: Seems a bit limited - can't figure out how to set up zone 2 and 3 (stopped trying and just use Denon iOS app for Zone 2 and 3); lack of physical number keys takes some getting used to but is actually ok; can be super sensitive - easy to change function or channel when picking up remote, but again you get used to it. I could see someone with a more complex set up and cabinets requiring more IR boosters but do not see capacity to add any (works fine as-is for my set-up).

My two Harmony 1100's were dying and I thought after four years it was time to replace them. Prior bad experiences with the Harmony Ultimate almost caused me to not buy this remote. I even had some of the same setup/hangup issues with this remote as with the Ultimate, but this time I was able to work through it and knew how to handle it while setting up the second remote. I guess I was not the only person have problems with the Ultimate, as reviews both here and on other sites complained of setup issues. It looks like Logitech actually listened to its customers and worked the bugs out. The fact that this remote could import the settings from the 1100 saved me a pile of work during setup. Easy-to-navigate software makes the setup and customization a breeze. The screen is a little sensitive so you have to get used to that. But so far - I've had the remotes for two weeks - I've been quite happy, and my technophobe wife has had little of the problems she'd had with the 1100.

Pros: Easy to set up, import settings from previous Harmony remotes, and customize to suit your preferences.

Cons: None whatsoever. I'm completely happy with this remote.

I love this remote. This remote replaced my Logitech Harmony 1100 which I loved and thought I would never replace, but when the new Apple TV came out the software didn't update to control the enhancements of that one device so I had to change it. This one was able to adapt to my old settings from my Harmony 1100, so I was able to transfer all of my old settings and then I was able to add controls to run the new Apple TV. Takes a little getting used to, but after one week it has now become my new all time favorite remote.

I have non hub based Harmony remotes and they work ok but man I love this elite! The response time is instant with the IR blasters and hub. I am using it to control some of my Hue lights, no color control but dims and power on/off is nice. I have connected my Nest thermostat which can be controlled via the Elite remote and you can also access your nest protect smoke detectors. I do wish it would control my Amazon fire box, currently on/off only. I get the new apple TV today and it looks as if Logitech is saying update to come in near future for that so I hope for some good functionality. Thank Goodness this Elite is way better ergonomically in ones hand than my current Ultimate One remote which to this day drives me nuts how bad it feels in hand while using!

    Features

Harmony Elite Remote System: The Harmony Elite remote system provides maximum flexibility for controlling your home entertainment and automation gear. Choose to control your home entertainment or automation system from the included remote or from the Harmony App on your Apple iOS or Android device. You can control up to 15 different devices from the Harmony Elite remote system.

App Based Setup: The first time you set up the Harmony Elite remote system, the Harmony App for Apple iOS 8.0+ or Android OS 4.0+ walks you through the setup process on your smartphone or tablet and stores your settings in your personal account. Your settings can then be wirelessly transmitted to your Harmony Hub, your Harmony Elite remote, or any other supported mobile device. If anything ever happens to your smartphone, Harmony Hub, or remote control, you can use these saved settings to set up a replacement system with ease.

Note: Harmony Elite remote system supports 2.4GHz 802.11 b/g/n wireless networks with WPA, WPA2-AES, and 64/128 bit WEP encryption.

Harmony Hub: The Harmony Home Hub is the center of your home entertainment and home control solution. Whether you use the Harmony App on your compatible mobile device or the Harmony Elite remote control, the hub stores your setup information and communicates between the remote control or app and your entertainment system devices. Placed near your television, set top box, game console and other equipment, it uses Infrared (IR), Bluetooth (RF), and WiFi to control your various devices.

    • Bluetooth (RF): The factory default setting for the remote is to output only radio frequency (RF) signals to communicate with the Harmony Hub, which then relays the commands to your devices using infrared (IR). The remote can also be programmed to emit IR signals directly to the equipment to be controlled.
    • Infrared (IR): IR signals are sent from the hub and reflect off of walls and other surfaces before reaching your devices. Direct line of sight is generally not required. IR mini blasters extend the range of the Harmony Hub allowing you to control devices that are on other shelves or outside of your cabinet, such as a television. The remote can also be programmed to emit IR signals directly to the equipment to be controlled.
    • WiFi Connection: Connecting your Harmony Hub to your WiFi network has multiple advantages, such as enabling use of the Harmony app on your smartphone/tablet, providing Philips hue lighting control, and wirelessly syncing settings between your remote and your MyHarmony account. The Harmony Hub supports 802.11g/n with WPA Personal, WPA2-AES, or 64/128-bit WEP encryption.

Smartphone Control via the Harmony App: In addition to the remote control that comes with your Harmony Elite, you can use select Apple iOS and Android smartphones with the Harmony Control App as a remote control. Your smartphone will communicate with the Harmony Hub over WiFi, allowing your smartphone/tablet to control your devices. You get control over entertainment devices and home automation products. You can use swipe or tap gestures to control the adjust volume, change channels, fast forward, rewind, and more. Plus you get access to one-touch Activity controls and Favorite channels. From the app you can also enter model numbers and brands to add devices.

    • Apple iOS: Download the Harmony Control App from the Apple App store onto your Apple iOS (8.0+) device.
    • Android: Download the Harmony Control app from the Google Play store onto your Android (OS 4.0+) device.
Note: Your Apple iOS or Android device must be connected to the same WiFi network as the Harmony Elite Hub.

Full-Color Touchscreen w/ Gesture Commands: The included remote's 2.4" full-color touchscreen gives you easy gesture control of the remote's commands and activities (up to 11 different gesture motions). The remote vibrates to give you tactile feedback when a tap, swipe or other gesture has been recognized by the remote's touchscreen. The remote display automatically lights up when the remote control is moved.

    • Swipe left/right
    • Swipe left/right and hold
    • Tap
    • Double tap
    • Long press
Note: The numeric keypad is located on the touchscreen.

Ergonomic Design: The remote's sculpted backlit buttons allow you to easily operate the remote in the dark, while its ergonomic design allows the unit to fit comfortably in your hand.

One-Touch Controls: The Harmony Elite uses Activity Control to give you one-touch control of your home entertainment & automation system.

    • Entertainment Activities: You can create Activities that manage how you use your devices together. For example, if you have a TV, AV receiver, and cable or satellite box, you will want to control all of these devices when you watch TV. To control all of these devices together, create a Watch TV Activity. When you have completed adding your Watch TV Activity, you can add the other Activities that you want your Harmony Elite to control. The types of Activities that MyHarmony offers you depends on the types of devices you have added. You can add multiple Activities based on each type of Activity offered, such as Watch TV, Watch Movie, or Play Game.
    • Custom Activities: Most Activities should fit into one of the Activity types offered. The Custom Activity type is recommended only for home appliances such as light controllers, fans, climate control devices, etc. The Custom Activity does not provide optimized defaults such as button customizations, Activity icons, and Favorite Channels as the other predefined Activity types do. These may be configured manually from MyHarmony.
    • One Touch System Off: The Off button on the Harmony Elite remote powers off all of the devices for an Activity with one touch. For example, in a Watch TV Activity that uses a TV, Cable Box, and AV Receiver, pressing the Off button will power off all three devices at the same time.
Note: The Harmony Elite knows the current state of the devices it controls by remembering the last Activity you selected. For example, if you switch from watching cable TV to watching a DVD, the Harmony Elite knows that it doesn't need to power the TV off and back on; it just leaves the TV turned on. It also it knows that it needs to power off the cable box and power on the DVD player.

Favorites: The Favorites screen allows you to view your predefined favorite TV channels and station icons (when available). Using the MyHarmony desktop software program, you can select up to 50 Favorite Channels to display on the remote. Selecting a Favorite Channel will start your "Watch TV" Activity, if it's not already started, and tune directly to that channel. Using the touchscreen, you can add, remove and reorder your Favorite Channels right on the remote. The Harmony App on your smartphone allows you to customize Favorite Channels unique to each smartphone. Changes made on your smartphone or on your Harmony remote only affect the device on which they are made and will not be reflected on the other devices.

Command Customization: The Harmony Elite remote allows you to customize the commands that each button sends, or what commands appear in your Activity list. These button mappings may be unique for each of your Activities. This allows each button or screen to have different functions based on context. For example, in your Watch a DVD Activity, the yellow button may perform the eject command, while in your Listen to Music Activity this same yellow button may be used to pull up your Favorite preset.

Home Automation: The Harmony Elite lets you integrate home automation with home entertainment control to create personalized home experiences.

    • Philips Hue Lighting: The Harmony Elite is able to communicate with Philips hue wireless lighting systems when your Harmony is configured to use your home's WiFi network. Once paired with hue, a light bulb will appear in the lower left corner of your remote allowing you to control your Philips hue light bulbs. Light, color, and brightness settings can be configured for each Activity. For example, you could turn on lights and turn them blue when you watch TV, and dim the lights and turn them yellow for a movie. These settings can be programmed as part of an Activity so that optimal lighting will always be set for each Activity.
    • Other Smart Home Automation: Using the Harmony Elite Home system you'll also be able to control smart home automation devices from Nest, Lutron, August, and PEQ from the included remote or the Harmony mobile app.

Alexa Compatible: Connect any Logitech Harmony hub-based remote with an Amazon Alexa enabled product (including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap and Echo Show - all sold separately) and you can start or stop Harmony Activities with just your voice. In addition to Activities (like "Watch TV"), you can also control playback functions such as Play, Pause, & Resume, as well as raise or lower the volume. When Logitech Harmony and Amazon Alexa work together, you bring the power of voice to your home entertainment center.

    Notes:
    • Amazon Alexa and the Logitech Harmony skill is currently only able to support a single Harmony Hub. If you have more than one Harmony Hub you will be asked to select one during the skill linking process
    • Some Harmony Activity or Favorite TV channel names conflict with things Amazon Alexa would like to do natively. For example, Activities with the word "Music", "Pandora", or "Spotify" will often not trigger through Harmony and will instead begin playing music through Alexa. You may want to consider, "Alexa, tell Harmony to turn on the tunes" as a friendly name to trigger a Harmony music-based Activity.

Harmony Home Hub Extender (sold separately): The Harmony Home Hub Extender (596HMHUBEX, sold separately) integrates ZigBee, Z-Wave, and Z-Wave Plus compatible devices with the Harmony Elite Remote system. Control lights, locks, sensors, garage doors and other devices operating through ZigBee or Z-Wave. You can include these devices in your programmed schedules and activities for enhanced home control. Or, you can use the Harmony Elite Remote or the Harmony Control App on your Apple iOS or Android device to control devices connected to an existing smart home control platform from Nexia, Vera Control (formerly Mi Casa Verde,) or ADT. Now your Harmony Hub system can control more home automation devices whether from inside or from outside your home.

Learning Function: In addition to the devices which can be entered using the web interface, this remote can also learn most functions of other infrared remotes.

Lithium-Ion Battery + Recharging Docking Station: The Harmony Elite remote control includes an integrated rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, which provides up to a one-week charge under normal use. The remote comes with a docking station and AC power adapter that keeps the remote fully charged.

Interference Warning: Avoid operating your devices using the original, manufacturer's remote control or by powering it on and off using the buttons on the device itself as doing so will cause Harmony to become out of sync with your devices. For example, if you select the Watch TV Activity and then use your TV remote to turn off the TV, the next time you want to select an Activity, the Harmony Elite will think that your TV is already powered on and will not turn it on. Other things that can confuse the Harmony Elite include inter-device communication that turns devices on or off, such as HDMI-CEC.

Note: If the Harmony Elite becomes out of sync with your devices, you can use the Help function on your remote to bring the TV back in sync.

Help: If you have a problem completing an activity function, the help button will guide you through the fix using the interactive multi-color touchscreen display.

I have one of these remotes already in my living room, so I bought another one for my bedroom. Love the way it functions, and programming it is really easy. Highly recommend. [ WILLIAM  Nov 13, 2017 ]
I chose the Harmony Elite because I needed the remote to be able to communicate via RF or WiFi with a Hub in a closet, as well as IR with the TV mounted on the wall. Other Harmony devices do not support both in the remote, forcing you to have the Hub provide the IR signal to the TV, which was not possible for me. [ Robert  Nov 02, 2017 ]
My old Logitech remove didn't work with PS4. Tthis one didn't really integrate well with it though. Not really the remote's fault, but Sony didn't make the PS4 very compatible with remotes. That makes this remote purchase not that great. They removed the number pad from the remote which I think is a mistake. I would rather have my extra commands at the top and the number keypad on the remote rather than scrolling horizontally through screens. [ Richard  Sep 10, 2017 ]

You need a hub in every location that you would like to control your electronics. When signing in the harmony app will ask which hub you want to control so make sure to give each hub a unique name. [ Troy  Mar 04, 2017 ]
Yes it will. You just have to teach the remote via the desktop application. I have a Haiku fan and I taught this remote those commands and it works fine. [ Troy  Dec 07, 2016 ]
    Yes!! [ VINCENT L  Dec 07, 2016 ]
It is likely that they will be sufficient. I set mine up in a 3 door cabinet, my components are limited to 2 doors containing 4 sections. My system works without issue. [ JAMES  Sep 14, 2016 ]
Yes, I have the same setup with a home theater receiver, satellite receiver, roku 4, apple tv, fire tv, and a UHD blu ray player in the cabinet. I have an IR blaster on the top shelf on each side of the cabinet and it works great! [ Michael W.  Sep 14, 2016 ]
You may have to place an IR blaster up by the TV if the lower section of your cabinet is enclosed. The remote comes with two additional blasters plus the main hub itself is a blaster. Remember, you can always control the TV with line of sight from the remote (Doing this will not allow you to control your TV with the App). Once in the software, you can go to the section "Hub Assignments" to control port A, B, Hub, and Remote. [ MARK E  Sep 14, 2016 ]

If IR, yes, if RF, not lickley. Bose uses a proprietary RF system that only works with thier remote. If Bluetooth, maybe. [ MARK E  Aug 01, 2016 ]
Yes it does. I have a Bose wave and it works with that as well as all of my products that have a remote, even if they're not common name brand products. It's an awesome remote. [ Troy  Aug 01, 2016 ]
You can check for compatibility on the Logitech website. [ JAMES  Aug 01, 2016 ]
yes and many many more. [ MOE  Aug 01, 2016 ]
Yes. The Harmony remotes are compatible with the Escient Fireball products. Only 1 Hub per Remote. Only 1 remote per Hub. You can "assign" ports on the hub. There are two ports on the back, plus the hub blaster itself. [ MARK E  Jun 15, 2016 ]
i don't thin k a single hub would work in this case. To keep the signal from getting mixed up from multiple hubs sending to similar equipment i would look into using individual IT repeaters that can be attached to the controlled boxes. you could then screen or block them from catching any stray IR reflections from the other hub. [ William  Jun 15, 2016 ]
Yes. Many of the buttons on this remote, perhaps like your others, can have two functions via a short press and a long press. I believe this remote comes with the 30 second jump as the long press on the fast forward button. I moved this to the short press as I use the function frequently to get through commercials. [ LARRY W  May 17, 2016 ]
Yes. Just hold down the fast foward button for about a second. [ Bradley  May 17, 2016 ]
I think you can. I know you can for sure from your phone app. [ Kenneth  May 10, 2016 ]
Yes, as long as you use an IR repeater. [ Troy  May 10, 2016 ]
Yes. But watch your distance between the remote and the RF hub. Anymore than 30' and you could have problems. To work around this, keep the RF hub behind your TV or in the same room as your TV and extend the IR over Cat5e to blasters in the other room. Good luck [ MARK E  May 10, 2016 ]
Yes, and the app on your phone too. [ Don  May 10, 2016 ]
Yes, you just need to make sure any components that you want to control have visibility with the included ir blasters. I also purchased extra ir transmitters to attach onto the fronts of my components because the blasters weren't practical for my application. [ William  May 10, 2016 ]
Yes that is exactly how my setup is currently all my equipment is in a closet far away from my theatre and the remote works perfectly. [ AKASH  May 10, 2016 ]
    Yes you can. I do [ Kenneth  May 10, 2016 ]
If you buy a second hub for another room you can use your phone or tablet. You just change hubs on your phone or tablet. [ Troy  May 10, 2016 ]
No, I don't think you will be able to use your smart phone or tablet for another TV, because the hub and RF transmitters are only connected to the one TV. You will only be able to control the one TV that is connected to that hub with your smart phone or tablet. I called Logitech and asked them if I bought another hub could I use the same remote to control the new hub over my Wi-Fi network for another TV and they told me no. I hope this helps. [ Michael W.  May 06, 2016 ]
No, you can't use your smartphone to directly control anything. The remote itself can control devices via infrared, and it also communicates with the Harmony Hub via a radio frequency signal. The hub can then send the infrared signals. This works well since you can place the hub anywhere that is convenient and within line if sight of what you want to control. The remote itself then does not need to have line of sight since the hub can send the signals. There is an app for your smartphone that can communicate with the hub which can then control your devices. Hope this helps, Frank [ Frank  May 06, 2016 ]
You require the remote and a hub to operate your devices. All devices must be within the distance of the hub and the remote sensors that plug into the hub. The remote talks to the hub and the hub sends out the signal to your devices within range of the remote sensors. If your devices are in different rooms you will require an additional remote and hub. [ John  May 06, 2016 ]
Yes. I have my phone, iPad and daughters phone all connected to mine. [ Troy  Apr 10, 2016 ]
Absolutely. You can have as many "portable" devices connected to the hub as you want. If one person changes the "Activity", it will update everyone's device with the new activity. They all "Sync" together. And yes, you can even use the remote at the same time. [ MARK E  Apr 07, 2016 ]
Yes I have 4 IOS devices with the Harmony App. [ MOE  Apr 07, 2016 ]
Yes you just download the app on each phone and then log into your account. You can also have more the one hub on account and switch between them. [ CHRIS  Apr 07, 2016 ]
Yes everyone can use their own iphone as their personal remotes linking it to the same hub. Great remote definitely recommend it!! [ AKASH  Apr 07, 2016 ]
Have not tried to do that functionality. [ Adam  Apr 07, 2016 ]
Yes, I just checked from at least 40 feet [ Brian  Mar 24, 2016 ]
Yes. If you use the extra included IR extending receivers, you should be able to reach that length. Remember, the hub uses wifi as well as IR, so you could be outside your house and as long as you have wifi, your remote will still work. It works best if the hub is next to the items you are controlling though. [ Taylor  Mar 24, 2016 ]
I had a similar problem and I bought a WiFi extender which is placed in between your router and the IR blaster! Working perfectly!! [ Anita  Mar 24, 2016 ]
Yes. In the programming or in the remote menu, you can tell the remote system to either use the RF blaster, Port A, Port B, or "remote" to control your system. [ MARK E  Feb 25, 2016 ]
Yes it does. The transmitter has a 10 ft. cord for easy placement. [ Troy  Feb 25, 2016 ]
Jason, I purchased my Elite last October to control my TV set up where the cable box, AV receiver, DVD player and Apple TV are in a cabinet and my Plasma screen is, of course, outside. All the components in the cabinet are communicated by RF through the Harmony hub and the plasma screen is controlled by IR from the Harmony remote control. It is working fine. Of course you have to point the remote control at the IR device for it to receive the signal. Depending on the component sequence this could be a few seconds long. Let me know if you have other questions. Rudy [ Rudy  Feb 24, 2016 ]
Yes, it does. In set up you can choose how each of the devices is controlled - via the hub and it blasters or through the ir emitter on the remote [ William  Feb 24, 2016 ]
You can control devices anywhere. [ Kenneth  Feb 24, 2016 ]
Yes. The remote can control IR devices but it needs a line of sight to the device. [ MALCOLM  Feb 24, 2016 ]
Yes, it has all of the codes preset. [ Troy  May 10, 2016 ]
We don't have a Playstation 4, but according to the Logitech compatibility website, it is supported. https://support[dot]myharmony[dot]com/en-us/compatibility [ George  Feb 02, 2016 ]
Yes & no. It cannot turn it on. However, once PS 4 is on it can be used for some functions. Then when u turn off PS4 using the Harmony Elite, it puts PS4 into rest mode. [ JAMES  Feb 01, 2016 ]
i do not personally one a play station but here is what harmony says. Harmony is able to control your PlayStation 4, including navigating through the menus and playing / pausing streaming apps such as Netflix and Amazon Instant Video. However, Sony does not permit any remote other than their game controller to power on this game console. Please first turn on your PlayStation using the game controller before launching your Play Game Activity using Harmony. Once powered on, Harmony will automatically Bluetooth connect and enable device control. [ PATRICK  Feb 01, 2016 ]
    I'm sorry I don't know. It's a great remote & works beautifully on our old Samsung. [ Christine  Jan 06, 2016 ]
It should. Check their website. They have an extensive list of items. It works with other bluetooth items in my house. [ STEVEN J  Jan 04, 2016 ]
Yes it will. It has an in depth data base for just about everything out there that is controlled by a remote and it is a learning remote as well. [ Troy  Jan 04, 2016 ]
You might also contact Harmony and ask them. [ MARK E  Jan 04, 2016 ]
It will work with a new Samsung TV, however I am pretty sure it will not work with the proprietary Bluetooth remote that comes with the TV (that acts as a pointer). I know that all the way up to the Harmony Ultimate we were not able to control that feature. If I find otherwise I will update this post. [ MARK E  Jan 04, 2016 ]
    yes [ ANAND  Jan 04, 2016 ]

I just purchased and installed the Harmony Elite. My components are in an enclosed (wood and sheetrock) cabinet that is 52 inches wide with 2 shelves. It works great. It comes with the Hub and 2 mini Blasters. I use the Hub on one shelf and one mini Blaster on the other shelf. These units project the IR signals into the cabinet and the components see the signal. I have 4 components on one shelf with the mini Blaster and 2 components on the other shelf with the Hub. The hand held remote controller sends an RF signal to the hub which then sends out the IR signal for the components. The remote also sends out IR signals and I use that to control my plasma screen which naturally isn't in the enclosed cabinet. I hope this helps you. Rudy [ Rudy  Nov 12, 2015 ]
I don't think the length of your cabinet would be an issue as long as there is room between to front of the cabinet and each individual area where your components are so the IR signal could bounce around the cabinet. Each blaster can control multiple devices it's not a one for one situation. Not sure of the cost for two additional blasters would be but I'd be shocked if it was more than say $30. These Logitech ones are quite robust compared to ones I've used in the past. Setup was a snap and I bet this remote will work for you. I still am thrilled with how well it works for me. Hope this helps. [ Glen  Nov 12, 2015 ]
Unfortunately I do not know the spread it covers but I have 2 components stacked and one blaster works great for both. On another note love the remote and customer service is great if you have any issues. I couldn't get one button to work how I wanted so CS programmed it remotely and I just needed to sync it which takes 20 seconds [ STEVEN  Nov 12, 2015 ]
Hi i just purchased the harmony elite for my theater and all my equipment is in a entertainment closet and i have about 8 units hooked up in a sanus equipment rack. This closet is fully enclosed and i have no access to it from the theater and i had the same concern you had before purchasing this item but i have to tell you it works great. I had this remote programmed and set up by my theater guy who set up my theater and he placed the ir blaster in such a way that it covers all my equipment. My rack is working off of 1 blaster. I have to tell you this hub maxes out at 2 blaster can not expand to more. But crutchfield is great with returns so try it out if not you could always return it. Hope this helped [ AKASH  Nov 12, 2015 ]
You will very likely not even need the additional IR blasters that this remote comes with. The IR blaster itself is likely going to be enough to communicate with all seven pieces of your equipment. If you need additional blasters you can plug in the additional two blasters that come with the harmony for more coverage however it's very unlikely that you will need them ( unless your cabinet has some sort of crazy dividers inside). Keep in mind, if you want to take full advantage of the networking capabilities of the remote so that you can control your system with a smartphone or tablet make sure that you run an IR blaster or IR target from the hub to your television set. If you do not do this your portable device will not be able to control your television ( because if you do not use the blasting technology you will have to tell the remote control to send IR signals directly from the IR remote). We have been installing Harmony remote since they came out. We have programmed every single model that they have made. This model by far is one of the best ones they have made. It looks like you will need to contact Logitech directly about the availability of the Elite remote. You can find their support portal here: http://support.logitech.com/home [ Jeff  Nov 05, 2015 ]  Staff
