Overview

Our take on the Logitech® Harmony® 650

Maybe you've got your home theater system figured out and know which remotes control what — but chances are your other family members, houseguests, and babysitters don't. The Logitech Harmony 650 keeps things intuitively simple, so everyone in the household can operate the audio/video system.

A truly simple remote

Maybe you've got your home theater system figured out and know which remotes control what — but chances are your other family members, houseguests, and babysitters don't. The Logitech Harmony 650 keeps things intuitively simple, so everyone in the household can operate the audio/video system.

All the great Harmony remotes we've seen over the years are based on one simple, powerful idea: you tell the remote exactly which brand and model your components are, and then it will know exactly how to make your system do what you want it to do.

One-touch commands

Operate your system by tapping a single activity button. Touch the “Watch TV” icon, for example, and the Harmony 650 automatically assesses the status of your TV, receiver, and cable or satellite box to make sure they're all turned on with the proper settings. Your system's ready for TV viewing.

Logitech Harmony 650

Smart color screen

The Harmony 650's eye-catching color screen can display channel icons, letting you quickly jump to your favorite news, sports, or movie channel. It also displays quick commandsrelated to your chosen activity, for convenient access to commonly used functions. Plus, it provides on-screen help when you need it with just the touch of a button.

Easy setup

You can control up to eight devices with the Harmony 650 remote. The system works with over 5,000 brands and 225,000 entertainment devices, including lighting controls, game consoles, multi-room systems, and more.

To get started, just download the free MyHarmony software to your Mac or PC. Then connect the Harmony 650 to it via the provided USB cable. MyHarmony will help you program your remote by asking some simple questions about your system and how you use it. It then downloads the commands and command sequences to your Harmony 650. And you can use MyHarmony to update your remote whenever you upgrade your system with new gear.

Product Highlights:

  • smart color screen displays most-used commands and selections
  • one-touch activity buttons such as "Watch TV," "Listen to Music," and much more
  • up to 50 one-touch favorite channel icons
  • contoured backlit buttons grouped by function
  • controls up to 8 devices
  • comfortable, ergonomic design
  • USB port for downloading commands from MyHarmony (USB cable included)
  • can learn IR codes from existing remote controls
  • requires 2 "AA" batteries (included)
  • 2-3/8"W x 1-5/16"H x 8-13/16"D
  • warranty: 1 year
  • Our 60-day money-back guarantee

Very clever, does a surprising amount. I don't think it will record the Roku 3 command for "Return to Roku home" because that is an RF command, not infrared.

Very clever, does a surprising amount. I don't think it will record the Roku 3 command for "Return to Roku home" because that is an RF command, not infrared.

Pros: Recognizes all my equipment. Handles almost all commands.

Cons: Doesn't handle RF commands. Sometimes can't tell which buttons go with which commands. Not rechargeable.

Perfect multifunctional remote

Derick from Johns Island, SC on 6/4/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased the Logitech Harmony 650 because my wife constantly complained that she didn't know which remote operated which component. We have an elaborate whole house system that consists of 9 components operating in multiple rooms. The Harmony 650 operates everything from a single remote with no problems. The best part is now my wife can operate everything and no longer complains about the system being too complicated! I've once again achieved HARMONY in my home!!!

Pros: Easy to set up, works flawlessly, operates my 9 electronic components perfectly!

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to set up via the internet. I wa able to set up various operations like watch TV, watch movie and listen to music. So when I wanted to watch a movie it would turn on the receiver, TV and DVD player and all I did was add the blu-ray. I like having a small screen that is displays the device and info. work my Tivo also.

Pros: takes 4 remote controls and make them work as one.

Cons: Nothing so far

Much Better Than A Poke In The Eye!

Harry from Alvaton, KY on 3/6/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I first purchased a hub after being assured what I wanted to do was not going to be a problem. That was wrong and I had to send it back and get this 650 instead. The 650 is a good product but less than clear documentation causes you to have to call for tech support unnecessarily. This is the same problem with the hub. Neither are perfect but a much better and more complete solution than other universal remote products.

Pros: Does what it is supposed to.

Cons: Less than adequate and sometimes confusing documentation.

Logitech Harmony 650 universal remote control

terence from Plymouth. MI. on 3/5/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got the remote so I could eliminate six other remotes. Easy to setup and took about 15 minutes. Worked seamlessly for about a month, and then there was always one device it would not turn on or shutdown, so you have to use the Help function. After three months it now goes to the start up menu every time, with the walkthrough of the buttons and layout. All programmed devices are still shown on the screen but the buttons don't do anything and it occasionally goes into safe mode on the display. First product I've bought from Crutchfield that was a letdown. I'll try Logitech support, but based on the reviews I've seen elsewhere, that's probably a lost cause. I would not recommend this product.

Pros: Easy to setup, easy to use for multiple devices, TV, DVD, CD, AMP, sound bar

Cons: 3 month product life

Crutchfield response on 3/8/2017 Once we saw this review, our Tech Support team reached out to Terence to issue an apology and help him further. We'll either help him get the remote working the way it should, or help him return it for an exchange or refund.

The Ultimate Remote For The Price

Adam from Portland, OR on 2/24/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Honestly, while this isn't the highest end Logitech remote, it's amazing for the price (especially considering Crutchfield's price-matching policy). It's easy to program using the software you download, has a huge database of remotes, and can perform virtually any combination of actions you choose (like if you press "Watch TV", it will turn on your TV, turn on your cable box, turn on your receiver, then set your receiver to cable). It's also very easy to set up and assign commands that aren't already in the database (such as the DVR function for your cable). I was able to combine 5 different remotes into one using the Harmony 650, including a Windows remote I have set up with my HTPC.

Pros: Easy to set up Can do anything you want Allows you to eliminate your other remotes Ergonomic

Cons: Kind of cheap plastic feel, but not too bad The digital screen is not the greatest, but who cares at this price

This remote is totally fabulous. Easy to setup and is able to relearn based on what units are being used. Hitting the help functions appears to solve issues. The viewing screen is fabalous and eliminate the need to connect to the internet and reprogram unit. Eliminated the need for THREE (3) seperate remotes. What a great remote.

Pros: Easy to use and self corrects itself.

Cons: Misplaced my password to Logitech 's web site. Need to call their customer service to get a reset. Having this ability on your website would eliminate the need to call customer service.

Works Perfectly and the girlfriend like it...

Anonymous from Redmond, WA on 6/23/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Harmony has a strong history in the system control game... and I needed ONE remote to rule them all. My system isn't large or complicated but it has a few things that are odd and NOBODY else made a remote anywhere less that one hundred dollars that could get the job done - The 650 works and the girlfriend can use my system when I'm not home... and frankly that's amazing

Pros: Set-up and walk through are a snap

Cons: Average IR strength

I'm on my 6th one!

Ramon from Renton, WA on 5/31/2016

I bought my remote and thought I should tell people that if you do your research, this remote will only last a few months or less if you drop it. If you do plan on buying this remote I highly suggest you get the warranty so you can get your replacement. I am not the only person who is on their 6th, I read on a review that someone had gone through 10 of these because they tend to reboot and once they start rebooting, that's it, time for a new one.

Pros: works great for a few months

Cons: major design flaw that makes it last a few months

A solid, friendly tool

Michael A from Wapakoneta OH on 5/12/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My experience with the Harmony 650 has been pretty much as advertised. Easy, if not quick, set-up and great response from all of my A/V appliances. The time spent with set-up,maybe 20 minutes, pays dividends every day.

Pros: Easy, intuitive programming and use.

Cons: So far, I haven't found any!

This universal remote is the real deal

George B from Louisville, KY on 5/1/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This universal remote is the real deal. Once programed, it has complete control over my wall mounted Samsung TV, Onkyo AVR, DirecTV box and Sony blu ray neatly tucked away in the hall closet. Switching from watch TV, watch movie and listen to music is a breeze. As always, Crutchfield is very helpful in product selection and tech support.

Pros: works as advertised and great bang for the buck.

Cons: shipped with faulty USB cord but Crutchfield replaced it ASAP.

" Surprised this remote does not shine my shoes!"

Dal from Marysville, KS on 4/10/2016

I too needed a remote that provided the functions of several and this remote does it! At first, it can be a bit "labor intensive" setting it up and getting accustomed to navigating once set up but it is a real game changer for my needs. Ergonomic, easy in your hand and fast response buttons. I also needed a back lit remote and this one is, that said, I would like it to be a little brighter. The Logitech website to program is straight forward and simple to follow. I did need some support getting two remote functions assigned to a button so I phoned Crutchfield and the tech gave me the phone number to contact Logitech directly, that too went very well. I also use the remote for my "old school" Sirius tuner in my car and it works very well, even if the remote is a bit large to carry around while on the road. I am set and very happy I purchased the Harmony 650, and all I need now is for it to make Martini's! :)

Pros: Ergonomic, performs many functions. The help feature is a plus when devices do not respond as they should.

Cons: None, other than at first it is a bit daunting to set up and navigate, use cures that.

Not as easy as the PR states

martyh from san jose, CA on 2/10/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Installing the software and connecting the remote to a PC is, indeed, easy. Entering all your devices (assuming you know the brand and model number) is easy as well. What isn't as easy and the PR leads you to believe is setting up the activities to get the remote to do what you need it to do. I set up one activity, tested it, all was copacetic. A few days later I clicked that same activity and only part of the operations worked. Now I need to debug. In the meantime, it's actually quicker to just grab a couple remotes, press a button or two on each one -- and done. Personally, I think I wasted money on this one. If I spend any more time on this remote I'll qualify for a degree in digital manipulation!

Pros: Easy install, easy connect, easy initial setup.

Cons: Easy doesn't always work, so be prepared to invest time, and more time.

room for improvement

oldmansknees from pittsburgh, PA on 2/9/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

the software from their site took several attempts to get loaded, the remote does not quite work correctly. Several attempts to fix using the software program resulted in more things being wrong - and took a while just to get it back to where it was before I attempted to fix the quirks. I've never had a universal remote that worked well with all devices, and this one is no exception. it's OK for basic operation, but you still have to keep the original remotes around for some functions.

Pros: Basically works

Cons: has some gremlins Software could use improvement

Harmoney 650 for home theater

JohnB from South Carolina on 1/4/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this unit to help make the settings easier for my wife when she plays her karaoke setup. The concept of a single button to turn on multiple items really helped make this a simple operation. I am still trying to make one special feature function on a device which is not listed in the covered devices, but I am confident that I can make this feature work by connecting to the internet site again.

Pros: The device seems to work well; the web site was very user friendly in almost every situation. It really helps make using the entertainment system easier.

Cons: I am still having issues with one single feature when playing the Karaoke unit, although the karaoke unit is not a covered device type. If I continue to have issues, I will call their customer service but I am sure I can resolve the issue on my own.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This 650 remote is great from my bedroom. I have a Harmony One in my Living Room. I use it to control my Living Room TIVO (which is connected to my bedroom also through my Yahama receiver). It also controls the Yahama, A Microsoft Xbox 360, and a Roku 3 plus my Vizio TV. All works great together.

Pros: Easy to program.

Cons: Wish the screen was touch, because of my Harmony One, I keep pressing the screen until I remember I have to use the buttons beside it.

Works as advertized

gator from Florida on 12/2/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The 650 remote was quite easy to program through the Harmony site for the major functions (10 minutes) as i have a basic bedroom setup Pioneer Receiver, Direct TV, Sony Blue Ray and and LG HD. Basic function work great at times with IR strength. I will spend some additional time to confirm whether I can set up additional macros. Otherwise it works quite well. Great value for the money!

Pros: Basic functions work, good remote signal at times with inline obstructions. Good coverage for Directv remote functions. Button light up when operated. Great price.

Cons: Buttons are quote small and lack tactile feel.

Perfect Remote for the Price

Steve from Virginia on 11/16/2015

Wanted to get a quality universal remote so this was recommended to me in the Harrisonburg store. I have a Samsung TV, LG Blueray, JBL Sound System, Comcast Cable and the 4th Gen Apple TV. I had the whole thing programmed and up and running in about 20 minutes. The set up was easy on my Mac and even my wife and kids have no problem operating it. Will never go back to multiple remotes or cheap universal remotes again!

Pros: Easy online set up. Common sense buttons. Mimics all the controls on the actual remotes. Lights up when you pick it up too!

Cons: While it does control the new 4th Gen Apple TV, you have to keep the original nearby if you want to use the Sri functions but everything else functions almost like the Apple remote.

As easy as it gets as far as setup is concerned. Able to work my Samsung Smart TV no problem which is no small feat given the various functions it can do. Don't really ever look at any other brand when buying a remote as I've always had great results with Logitech.

Cons: None

Nice Remote for the Price

Chris from Maryland on 9/25/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The online software is a little clunky and slow, but not too bad once you get used to it. Remote is easy to program. Remote is a little slow to work with activity buttons because it sends each command code individually. I imagine this is a limitation of how IR works though and not an issue with the remote. Still quicker and easier than using multiple remotes. ALL of my devices were found in the device database, so that part was a breeze.

Pros: Good value for what this remote offers. Works as advertised. I am happy with the purchase. All of my equipment was in the device database. The kids like to use it.

Cons: Software is sort of clunky, but works OK.

Easy to setup, easy to customize the standard or additional buttons to work with whatever device you choose. Had an 880, but I like that this doesn't have to sit on a base to charge and is so much better. This has eliminated the texts and calls from my wife on how to turn stuff on!

Pros: Great remote, easy setup, easy customization to do what you need the remote to do.

GilE from New Port Richey FL on 4/17/2015

I am impressed with how easy it was to program from my Mac. Sometimes, applications that download don't work well with Macs. The remote learns surprisingly well. And I'm glad -- and my wife is glad -- that we replaced 4 remotes with 1 that really works.

Pros: Price was great. When I looked at these years ago they were quite expensive. This does the job extremely well.

Cons: The numbers and letters on the remote are way too small. Even when using the internal backlighting, I need to turn on a light so I can see what I'm doing.

I'm Impressed

Butch from Brewton, AL on 4/14/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My system is now much more manageable, thanks to this remote. Although there is still the occasional hiccup, it has greatly reduced the time spent searching for the remote for the TV, the receiver, the Blu-Ray player, etc. I still have to use dedicated remotes for certain specific functions (like controlling my receivers second zone functions), but it is still a significant improvement to my A/V system. I highly recommend.

Pros: Works as expected most of the time. Setup is a breeze.

Thus is my second harmony remote. Previously owned a 600 that lasted about 4 years. The 650 is very similar in design. Seems to be more reliable than the previous one in getting all components to respond on first attempts.

Pros: Easy set up with my Samsung TV, Denon receiver, Sony Blue Ray and cable box.

Cons: Entire display is backlit with exception of device buttons.

I purchased this because my better half had trouble using the cable remote and VBOX remotes. Now, the Harmony controls everything. When the hardware gets out of sync, the help menu/function resolves the issues. Very pleased.

Pros: Simple to program. Help function is very useful.

Cons: The remote itself is a little slippery. Tends to slide off furniture. Leave it on the table!

Not a 5 star

Pros: Wonderful in that it eliminates 5 other remotes

Cons: have to mash some of the buttons several times in order to make the thing work. Sometimes pushing one button will toss the TV screen into whatever it is you don't want. Not anywhere as nice as my Monster AVL300

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The Harmony 650 was a great purchase. I was looking for a low price remote that could eliminate three others and the Harmony 650 did all this and more. I did not want to spend hundred of dollars only to drop it and have to repurchase. The Harmony was easy to set up but do your homework first and know what devices you want it to control, know there model numbers and the inputs. Also do a little research on everything the Harmony 650 can do, I was able to create a 30 second skip and a three minute skip very easily. Harmony's website is great and answered all my question and it only took about 30 minutes to have it up and working. A couple of days later I added some special thing that I never knew it could do and it was a breeze. Crutchfield had a fair price and I had some credits coming and the quick shipping is always a bonus. The final proof that its a great remote is my wife is not afraid to use it, and matter of fact, she takes it away from me!!

Pros: Ease of set up, Great features

Cons: I wish the numbers and letters on the buttons had a bigger font.

Love this Remote

Frank W from Georgia on 2/4/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great remote at a bargain price. I have been using a Harmony One for about four years for my main home entertainment system and wanted another for my less used living room set up. The Harmony One's replacement wasn't worth the price for the limited use it would receive in this set up. But the 650 does everything I need (and probably more) for about half the price. Programming took about 15 minutes and was as simple as could be. Right now it controls a Panasonic Plasma flat screen, Comcast cable box, Sony receiver and a Roku 3. Previously I was leaving the receiver on 24/7 and still needed that remote for volume. I had to use the Comcast remote for the TV and box. The Roku was added after the 6650 but without the 650 that would have been a third remote. It's the best $$ I've spent in quite a while.

Pros: Easy as sin to program, buttons are intuitive, lightweight

Cons: One minor inconvenience is having to select the Roku as a device while it's in use to select media, fast forward, etc. but then having to reselect the receiver to control the volume. (I may have messed up when I added the Roku to the remote and haven't had time to troubleshoot this issue)

Excellent Remote

treker88 from California on 1/29/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I got the Harmony 650 to replace my Harmony 550 which conked out after about eight years of use. In a nut shell, the 650 is a better remote in every way than the already excellent 550 remote. It's even easier to program and has better ergonomics. However, I do miss the blue back lighting of the 550. The 650 has amber back lighting. If I could give the 650 ten stars, I would, highly recommend.

JohnD from Virginia on 1/28/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In terms of programming ease, the Harmony 650 is significantly more user friendly that my earlier version Harmony 550. The software provided prompts the user in a very logical and easily understood sequence to set up each device to be controlled by the remote. Even after the initial programming is completed, help screens are provided on the remote to resolve any remaining control issues. The design, feel, and programming of the remote are outstanding in my opinion. Thanks Logitech.

Easy way to get rid of multiple remotes

TomD from Virginia on 1/24/2015

Helps to get rid of multiple remotes. Relatively easy to set up to emulate multiple remotes and control multiple devices with a single remote. Tech Support was helpful when I got stuck on one part of the setup.

Cons:

Great remote

Barry from Troy, VA on 1/24/2015

This is my 3rd harmony remote. Purchased this one for the basement. Also have the 700 and the Ultimate. Only reason not giving it 5 stars is the battery is not rechargeable as the other remotes. Highly recommend for the price.

Pros: Ease of set up One remote does all Value

Cons: No rechargeable batteries

User friendly remote

Logitech® Harmony® 650

BS from PA on 1/14/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Programming between old and new is simple if you use the older software even though they say not to. Can't custom program a single button to say channel 300 only a 3. The number buttons are at the bottom of remote and hard to press and hold with one hand. Colored screen is useless, not necessary. Works but button layout in awful.

Pros: Works

Cons: Not laid out well, unbalanced, useless features

Easy set-up, No complaints

wjtinfwb from Atlanta on 12/24/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easy to progran, took longer to pull together all the model numbers from TV, Soundbar, satellite receiver, etc. than to actually program the remote via the PC. Every product I had was listed in the Harmony database and the steps to program were stupid easy.

Pros: Easy to program, batteries included. All my products were available in the Harmony database

Cons: Occasionally drops a function, but has a built in diagnostic that asks if something didn't work as planned and walks through the recalibration step without connecting back to the PC

Best remote ever

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this at the suggestion on Crutchfield Tech Support, to try to resolve an issue created when I upgraded my AV Pre/Pro to a Marantz AV7701. My old processor worked with my older Marantz monoblock power amps (MA-700 and MA-500), turning the amps on when the processor was turned on, and off when the processor turned off. The new processor would only function consistently to turn off the MA-700s, but not turn them on. It would not control the MA-500s at all. I was able to get the MA-700s to work using the Harmony 650, but determined that the code required for the MA-500 was PowerToggle, which, although available as a command on the remote itself after selecting the MA-500 device, was not available in the MyHarmony software used to edit the Activity. My workaround was to use the Harmony 650 to teach an old learning remote I had around the PowerToggle command, then used this old remote to teach the Harmony 650 the PowerToggle command as a new command I called TogglePower. I was then able to Add this command to the Activity in the Customize screen, and now it successfully turns on (and off, as required) all of the power amps. I find the software to be a bit inconsistent, as in not having all the commands that were in the Harmony 650 available to add to an Activity. I also find I am unable to reorder the list of actions in an Activity, although the screen indicates you can, and the support forums indicate that you can. But it is a GREAT remote, anyway.

Pros: Very customizable; easy to program specific A/V products to the unit via a computer application; lights up automatically when picked up; keys laid out logically and easy to locate in the dark.

Cons: Software is not very intuitive; software loses communication with the remote frequently and won't sync (how this happens with a USB connection using the provided USB cable is a mystery).

Great Product

The greatest critic in our family is my wife. To her it either works or it doesn't. It does. We now have one universal remote replacing seven. It it great for those who do not care like me for touched screens

Pros: Easy set up and use

Cons: Be sure you aim straight or you can get out of sync; but it is easy to correct

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Received the product when promised. I have several Universal Remotes but the Harmony 650 is the MUCH easier to set up and get running. After collecting all of the device information that I wanted control, it only took 10 minutes to set up and start using on my TV and Receiver. I would purchase this product again and would recommend it to a friend.

Pros: Super easy to set up and use

Cons: None

Just attach the remote to your PC. Add your devices by model number. Done! The remote works seamlessly with my TV, DVD, Cablebox and Sonos Playbar.

Pros: Easy to setup.

Features

Universal Remote Control: The Harmony 650 is a universal IR remote control which combines up to 8 remotes into 1 simple controller. Control your TV, cable or satellite box, DVR, Blu-ray player, sound system, and more from this one remote control.

Desktop Software Setup: The Harmony 650 is programmed by connecting the universal remote to your laptop or desktop computer using the supplied USB cable, and downloading the MyHarmony desktop software. The MyHarmony desktop software will guide you through entering the manufacturer and model numbers of your home devices so the Harmony 650 understands how to control them. It then helps you create your Watch TV Activity (or scene) for one-button control.

Note: The Harmony database has over 270,000 electronic devices from more than 6,000 manufacturers.

System Requirements: In order to use the MyHarmony desktop software your computer will need to meet the following system requirements:

  • Windows-based PC:
    • Microsoft Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista
    • USB type-A port
    • Internet access
  • Intel-based Mac Computer:
    • Macintosh OS X 10.6 or later
    • USB type-A port
    • Internet access

Infrared (IR): The Harmony 650 controls your devices using infrared (IR) light meaning that there must be a direct line of sight between the Harmony remote and your component's IR eye or external IR receiver. The remote has an IR transmission range of up to 50'.

Color LCD: The Harmony 650 features a 1.5" LCD with a resolution of 128 x 128 pixels and 65,000 colors. See just what you need, like icons for your favorite channels and the commands you need for the devices you're using.

Intuitive Design: Buttons are grouped by how you use them, shaped so you can feel your way around and backlit so you can navigate your home entertainment anywhere, even in the dark.

One-Touch Activity Control: The Harmony Touch uses Activity Control to give you one-touch control of your entertainment system. For example, you can use one of the Activity buttons to power on your TV, DVD player, A/V receiver, set all your inputs and even activate play without having to program time consuming macros. Once all of your equipment is "on", the buttons on the remote are also automatically configured for the appropriate operation. There are 3 activity buttons - Watch TV, Watch a Movie, & Listen to Music. You can also power off all your devices with one button press.

Note: To help keep the Harmony 650 in sync with your devices, avoid turning your television, set top box, and other devices on and off manually or by using their original remote control.

Favorite Channels: The Harmony 650 allows you to program your favorite TV, satellite, and cable stations (up to 23) into the remote's memory for easier access through its LCD screen a backlit buttons. You can even store and view station icons.

Button Customization: The Harmony 650 allows you to customize what each of the physical buttons on the remote does, and each of these customizations are unique for every Activity. For example; you may want the Channel Up button to change channels on your set top box when watching TV, but have the Channel Up button tune to different stations with Listening to Radio using your stereo.

More Controls: With the Harmony 650 universal remote control you can easily access guides, menus, and recorded programs; as well as control playback, with dedicated buttons.

Help Button: A designated help button walks you through solutions when problems arise.

Teach Function: If there's a command on your original remote that doesn't appear on the Harmony 650 remote, or doesn't work properly, you can use your original remote to teach the command to the Harmony remote.

Battery Powered: The Harmony 650 universal remote control is powered by two "AA" batteries (included).

Suggest you go to Logitech's website and see if the Harmony 650 supports the use of your Comcast cable box. [ Richard  Jun 11, 2017 ]
I don't know it works great with direct tv HD should not make a difference it's the cable box [ Timothy  Jun 09, 2017 ]
My guess is the box is probably manufactured by Cisco or Motorola. Look for the make and model, then go to the Logitech site to see. They list by the mix mfg, not cable provider. Even if not, I have a Harmon-Kardon receiver not supported, and there is a manual method. Difficult, but it works. [ Bill  Jun 09, 2017 ]
Battery's usually last about 6 months. [ Robert A.  Apr 13, 2017 ]
Obviously it depends on the amount of usage, since the screen is activated during usage and draws from the battery. I used mine pretty much 6 evenings per week for almost a year before the batteries needed replacing. While everyone's experience will likely differ somewhat, I would say that battery replacement intervals are not an issue with this device. I use standard name-brand alkaline batteries, not the super expensive lithium batteries. [ GERALD W  Apr 12, 2017 ]
The batteries in mine tend to last at least 3-4 months. [ Chad  Apr 12, 2017 ]
i have had problems using the 650 and can't give you an accurate answer. My guess has been about 8 months [ JOHN  Apr 12, 2017 ]
In the two years that I have had the Harmony unit I changed batteries one time. [ John  Apr 12, 2017 ]
It is good. Not exactly sure how long they last but I never thought it was an issue. [ BRAD  Apr 12, 2017 ]
Months at a time. [ JASON  Apr 12, 2017 ]
Battery life is obviously directly affected by the amount of usage. My normal viewing times are weekends and weeknights and the batteries last roughly a month or more. [ TIMOTHY  Apr 12, 2017 ]
Depends on use. If you constantly channel surf battery life is only month or so. If you rarely surf you can expect batteries to last five or six months.Every time you push a button on the remote battery power is used. [ Hugh  Apr 12, 2017 ]
Not long, that is for sure. Plus, it is difficult to observe when the battery is low...is just slows down and finally the only thing to do is change batteries. I buy them by large packages. There does not seem to be a good alternative but I would certainly purchase another product if it would perform as well and not require continuous battery changes. [ JOHN  Apr 12, 2017 ]
It should be the Sonos soundbar receives an IR signal [ electrician  Aug 29, 2016 ]
Sorry, don't have a Sonos system. I have two of these: one works with a Sony Receiver, Panasonic Plasma & Fios. The other with a Heir TV, Fios and a Denon Receiver. No problems, works well. [ Richard  Aug 29, 2016 ]
My experience is that new fresh name-brand alkaline batteries last many months, close to a year, based on almost nightly usage. However, I never watch daytime TV. If you are using this throughout the day and evening, I could imagine batteries lasting only a few months. But a few hours?.... something is wrong with that scenario. [ GERALD W  Apr 12, 2017 ]
i dont believe it can use rechargeable batteries. But something is wrong if your batteries only last a few hours. They last for months in my Logitech 650. [ Drake  Jul 24, 2016 ]
Rechargeable battery's will work but regular cheap battery's should last for Months so something is wrong with the remote. get a replacement. [ john  Jul 23, 2016 ]
Yes. Any good quality rechargable AA battery should work [ Richard  Jul 23, 2016 ]
Sorry, but I can't answer the question. I've never used a turntable/phone with the Harmony 650. [ TERRY  Jul 05, 2016 ]
Yes as long as the turntable has a working infrared remote. You can teach the 650 any commands but it won't help you if remote is broken or lost. [ Andrew  Jul 04, 2016 ]
Yes, it works great on my desktop equipped with Windows 10. [ Bret  Mar 19, 2016 ]
Yes, I am running Windows 10 and have not had any problems. [ LINDSAY  Mar 18, 2016 ]
Yes. I have just updated my remote on my Windows 10 laptop. [ Stanley  Mar 18, 2016 ]
Thanks for your question. Yes, per product information buttons are grouped by how you use them, shaped so you can feel your way around and backlit so you can navigate your home entertainment anywhere, even in the dark. You can find this information on the product page under the details tab. Hope this helps. [ Kenny  Feb 01, 2016 ]  Staff
Yes it will work [ JAGDISH  Jan 24, 2016 ]
Sorry, but I don't have TiVo so I can't answer your question. [ TERRY  Jan 19, 2016 ]
I would think so. The remote is set up on your computer with the Logitech app most devices for all major brands are listed [ EUGENE H  Dec 03, 2015 ]
Yes, it will work with any smart TV. One negative thing about this remote, is that it goes through batteries very fast. [ MARK E  Dec 03, 2015 ]
we did not use it for an lg tv but I will say it is an extremely fragile remote. If you have children or a tendency to leave it on the sofa and a little fall from that height dislodges prices inside and making the remote useless. It was a great remote when it worked but only lasted outside of the crutch field warranty by a few days before ours stopped working. [ ANDREW  Dec 03, 2015 ]
It should. It works with my Samsung Smart TV....I see no reason why it wouldn't work with LG [ Michael  Dec 03, 2015 ]
yes the device updates the codes from the internet [ weszab  Dec 03, 2015 ]
I don't know. But it does work with the Yamaha RX-V577 receiver. [ EILEEN  Nov 29, 2015 ]
It works with my Denon receiver that is 5 years old. If you get the model number on your Bose and go to the Logitech website you can check but it should work no problem. [ Brian  Nov 29, 2015 ]
All harmony remotes will control the Bose Cinemate 130 including the 650. Cheers Bob [ ROBERT D  Nov 18, 2015 ]
I have not tried this, but if you do an online search for "Harmony upgrades and combinations" you will find a Harmony Support page that states "Harmony Home Hub is not currently compatible as an upgrade to existing Harmony remotes." In addition, there is a compatibility table entry on that page for the 650 which states "No" across the entries for various updates. [ RICHARD  Sep 01, 2015 ]

Sorry, but I don't have any experience with PS3. [ TERRY  Nov 23, 2014 ]
I'm not sure, You can check the Harmony database at myharmony dot com. If thes3 is listed, then yes the 650 will control it. [ ROBERT D  Nov 21, 2014 ]
Hi Jeff B, I am pretty sure this remote does not work with PS3 functions. Logitech used to have a PS3 adapter, but they have discontinued it. You may still be able to get it through Crutchfield or Amazon. Hope this helps. Good luck! Ali [ Ali  Nov 21, 2014 ]
Do not own a PS3, sorry [ Barry  Nov 21, 2014 ]
No experience with PS3, but works surprisingly well with Apple TV and every function of my cable set-top box with DVR, significantly better than my other remotes. Very refined and smooth funtioning product, wish I had bought one years earlier. Cheers! [ MICHAEL  Nov 21, 2014 ]
According to logitech, it is not directly compatible with the PS3, but they say it will work if you purchase a PS3 adapter which is sold separately. I would suggest you contact Logitech product support directly for more information. [ Arthur  Nov 21, 2014 ]
I do not have a PS3 to confirm this for you. The remote works great with all of the equipment I have. Sorry I could not answer your question. [ LINDSAY  Nov 21, 2014 ]
You need to purchase the adaptor for PS3. It's a separate tiny receiver that converts the remotes signals into Bluetooth that the play station can read. Crutchfield carries this as well. I bought one and it seems to work flawlessly with the PS3. I use it to watch movies mostly. It's once not having to grab the PS3 remote and make sure it's charged etc. [ samuel  Nov 21, 2014 ]
I don't have a PS3, but it is my understanding that it is a bluetooth only device. Since this controller is IR only, it will not control the PS3. I noticed that there is a Harmony Playstation 3 adapter (Item #: 596PS3ADPT) that looks like it will enable the 650 to work with the PS3. Another option would be the Logitech Harmony Smart Control. The writeup says it will control the PS3. [ Stephen  Nov 21, 2014 ]
No this does not support Bluetooth. [ Andrew  Nov 21, 2014 ]
