The Logitech Harmony Touch is a remote for the 21st century. Instead of a sea of buttons, this innovative universal remote has a few simple controls and color touchscreen. With a flick of your finger you can quickly swipe and scroll to navigate to your entertainment choices.

You can initiate a sequence of commands by tapping a single activity icon. Touch the “Watch TV” icon, for example, and the Harmony automatically assesses the status of your HDTV, receiver, cable or satellite box, makes sure they're all turned on with the proper settings, and presto! Your system's ready for TV viewing. The activity icons are great for family members and houseguests who might find your home theater system intimidating to use.

Harmony Logitech Touch remote channel icon

You can have up to 50 channel touchscreen icons, customized in the order you want them.

Customizable channel icons

With the Harmony Touch you can select display icons for up to 50 of your favorite channels. And you can personalize and rearrange them as you want — right on the remote's touchscreen. To watch a channel, just touch the icon. The remote does the rest.

Touch pad numbers

One of the reasons the Touch looks so simple and inviting is that the number buttons are gone. Instead, you access the number pad through the touchscreen. It's still there when you need it for codes and search – but out of sight when you don't.

Smart, ergonomic design

The sculpted design of the Harmony Touch makes it comfortable to hold. And the buttons are backlit, so they're easy to use in low-light settings. And don't worry about dead batteries – the Touch has built-in rechargeable batteries, and comes with its own charging cradle. Another nice thing about that cradle – it provides a home for your remote, so it's easier to find.

Simple setup

You can control up to 15 devices with the Touch. The system works with over 5,000 brands and 225,000 entertainment devices, including lighting controls, game consoles, multi-room systems, and more. If it has a remote, then you can probably control it with the Touch.

To get started, just download the free MyHarmony software to your Mac or PC. Then connect the Harmony Touch to it via the provided USB cable. MyHarmony will help you program your remote by asking some simple questions about your system and how you use it. It then downloads the commands and command sequences and sends them wirelessly to your Touch. And you can use MyHarmony to update your remote whenever you upgrade your system with new gear.

Product Research

Feature

Universal Remote Control: Harmony Touch is an activity-based Infrared (IR) universal remote control that can control up to 15 different devices. The Harmony Touch remote is programmed using MyHarmony desktop software for Windows PC & Mac. The Harmony Touch keeps track of the devices it controls, which allows it to always know which devices are on and off, and what input each device is currently set to. The Harmony Touch Universal Remote brings the flexibility and convenience of touch screen controls to your home entertainment system.

MyHarmony Desktop Software:  You will need to use the MyHarmony desktop software to add devices, setup, configure, and program the Harmony Touch remote control. The MyHarmony desktop software downloads for free to your Windows PC or Mac computer, and the Harmony Touch remote connects to your PC or computer via the included dock and USB cable. By connecting the Harmony Touch remote to your Windows PC or Mac computer running the MyHarmony desktop software, you can enter your device information, create activities and choose your favorites. With this information, the MyHarmony desktop software will configure the Harmony Touch to control your entertainment system. Your can return to the MyHarmony desktop software program any time to update your configuration, although many settings can also be maintained directly on Harmony Touch as well. The Harmony database has over 270,000 electronic devices from over 6,000 manufacturers.

System Requirements: Your PC or computer will need to meet the following system requirements.

  • Windows-based PC:
    • Microsoft Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10
    • USB type-A port
    • Internet access
  • Intel-based Mac Computer:
    • Macintosh OS X 10.6 or later
    • USB type-A port
    • Internet access
Note: The Harmony Touch must be docked in the included docking station and connected to your Windows or Mac computer with the included USB cable to setup the remote using the MyHarmony Desktop Software.

Learning Function: In addition to the devices which can be entered using the web interface, this remote can also learn most functions of other infrared remotes.

Full-Color Touchscreen: The Harmony Touch's 2.4" full-color touchscreen gives you easy swipe (up/down/left/right) and tap control of the remote's commands and activities. The numeric keypad is now located on the touchscreen.

Ergonomic Design: The sculpted backlit buttons allow you to easily operate the remote in the dark, while its ergonomic design allows the unit to fit comfortably in your hand.

Activities: The Harmony Touch uses Activity Control to give you one-touch control of your entertainment system. You can use one of the touchscreen's Activity buttons to power on your TV, DVD player, A/V receiver, set all your inputs and even activate play without having to program time consuming macros. Once all of your equipment is "on", the buttons on the remote are also automatically configured for the appropriate operation.

Favorites: Favorites are your favorite TV channels. Using the MyHarmony desktop software you can select up to 50 favorite channels to display on the remote. Selecting a favorite channel will start your "Watch TV" activity, if it's not already started, and tune directly to that channel. Using the touchscreen, you can add, remove and reorder your favorite channels right on the remote.

Help: If you have a problem completing an activity function, the help button will guide you through the fix using the interactive multi-color touchscreen display.

System Off: One push of the off button turns off all the equipment in your system.

Lithium-Ion Battery/Recharging Docking Station: The Harmony Touch includes an integrated rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, which provides up to a one-week charge under normal use. The remote comes with a docking station and AC power adapter that keeps the remote fully charged.

I usually put it in the cradle after I shut down for the nite. I some times miss a nite.but it would probably go for a week.
richard  Mar 11, 2016
A
Depends on usage but I get a few nights.
todd  Mar 10, 2016
A
Actually, no. I do so I don't misplace it, but it can go for several days without a charge. I highly recommend it!
stephen  Mar 10, 2016
A
Albeit it a slimmer design then my Logitech Harmony One the charge is not as long. Since it has higher functionalities and the touchscreen. When not in use it would be prudent to have it on the cradle as the idle time is not very long.
brian  Mar 10, 2016
A
Battery life seems to be about 3days for mine.
danielle  Mar 09, 2016
A
Typically 4-5 days on a charge. I leave it on the charger at night just so I know where I have put it.

Several days or a week maybe..

Q
These things work well software wise, but the hardware itself was cheap on the older models. One drop off the arm of the couch onto carpet took out over half the pixels on the touch screen. Have they improved the screen to make it more iphone durable?
tim  Mar 08, 2016
7 answers
A
I've had my Harmony Touch for about five months. It's fallen off the couch a few times with no damage. I've also had three other models. None of those was ever damaged by falls. Just worn out buttons.
kevin  Mar 09, 2016
A
This model is pretty rugged. We've dropped it quite a few times (onto carpet) and its still going strong.
ryan  Mar 09, 2016
A
I've dropped it and my 2 year old has had access to it. Not one problem yet.
jeremiah  Mar 08, 2016
A
I dropped it on my hardwood floors from standing position and it seems ok.
joseph  Mar 08, 2016
A
We have dropped this remote numerous times on both hardwood floors and carpet and have had no issues with the picture on the touch screen or the touch screen itself cracking or breaking.
james  Mar 08, 2016
A
I have thrown mine across the room during football game and it still is working without any problems
kevin  Mar 08, 2016
A
To be honest I really have not used the Touch much at all. I bought it as a backup to my Harmony 700, which is no longer made. I am so used to the keystrokes on the 700 that I can use it to perform almost any function at all w/o even looking at the keys. The Touch is not that intuitive - but then again I have not really played with it much at all. If the 700 was still available as a newly manufactured product I would have bought another 700 in a heartbeat.

Was never able to put product into service. Too complicated. Never tried with DirecTV remote.
henry  Feb 09, 2016

I don't have DirecTV so I can't answer your question I have AT&T universe and it works for it but I'm not real thrilled on the remote
thomas j  Feb 09, 2016
A
Yes, it can replace it. No guarantees if the software "acts up" on you though. neil
neil  Feb 09, 2016
A
Sure can and does replace the DTV remote, plus the surround sound receiver, blue ray player and just about anything else you use for A/V.
jeffrey  Feb 09, 2016
A
I used it successfully with DirecTV hardware up until about spring of 2015 when I switched over to xfinity (works with their box, too). I don't know about current boxes being issued by DirecTV.
thomas  Feb 09, 2016
A
Yes is worked. Just did not find the interface user friendly
chad  Feb 09, 2016
A
This remote replaced my Harmony One remote which did control my Direct TV cable box. I have since changed to Verizon. The Harmony Touch 'learned' from the Harmony One during set up/install of the Harmony Touch remote. So I think Harmony Touch will control your Direct TV Box. I suggest you confirm same via Harmony and/or Direct TV. Or you can get help from a local stereo shop who could assist with the install of your new home entertainment system.
cliff r  Feb 09, 2016
A
I'm not entirely sure. I used it to replace Dish and have had zero issues. It does show DirecTV receivers in the setup menu online. Sorry if this doesn't quite answer your question.
eric  Feb 09, 2016
A
Sorry, Don. I don't have DirecTV. I'm on Comcast cable.

Q
Will it control an xbox one?
andrew  Dec 29, 2013

A
I use mine to configure the receiver and TV inputs for different sources including XB1. However, I do not use it to control internal functions of the Xbox. If you plan on using your Harmony touch for controling channel switching and other TV controls internal to the Xbox 1, I recommend contacting Xbox 1 support and Logitech. I checked the Logitech web site for you, and they do have a database of several thousand supported devices, but, I can only guess the level of support for an Xbox 1. I use DIRECTV to control my television functions and still use my xbox for gaming and video. The Xbox 1 is very proprietary.. many accessories that worked with the 360 are no longer compatible with the new system.
george  Jan 02, 2014

Dear Andrew. Don't know. In my case I have an Sharp TV, a Sony Receiver, a Dish 722k Duo and a Sony Blu-ray and works like charm for everything. It's take a while to get use the touch panel. If you prefer the hard button this is not for you. But after a few months I like the control very much and is easy for me. Sorry for not have the rigth answer for you. Take care. Sam
