These do skate
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
There are TONS of blutooth speakers these days, many in the same size "wheelhouse" as this model. And frankly, many are probably similarly sounding. This Mini-BOOM does have a decent volume, though great relative to it's compact size. Volume control is a must, and this model has it. While you can also control volume from your source device as well, I find it indispensable (or at least preferred) to have volume controls on the speaker itself. Sometimes the speaker will be much closer to you than the source device, so that's why the speaker volume controls come in handy. As I've read elsewhere, this speaker does tend to slide across a surface, particularly when playing music and tends to slide more as the volume increases. This will in part be affected by the smoothness of the surface the speaker sits on. The rougher the surface, the less apt the speaker is to slide, and vice versa. This can become a problem, especially if the speaker were to skate across and fall off of an edge of a higher surface location.
Pros: Reasonably good sound quality relative to it's compact size, but not a miracle worker given its speaker volume/size constraints. Compact and attractive. Auto shutoff if it senses no activity for 15 minutes (or thereabouts). Great for conversing battery power. Blutooth connectivity is easy, with quick and solid connections in my experience with it so far.
Cons: Speaker is prone to sliding across surfaces when playing music, especially at higher volumes and in conjunction with smoother surfaces. A fairly significant con in my mind. Of the two surfaces I've tried it on thus far, one of the two resulted in fairly extreme sliding behavior (say, an inch every 5 to 10 minutes, approx.).
