Not into "do it yourself" car stereo installations? No problem. With a pre-paid InstallCard, you can have your new amplifier (2-channel or mono) or equalizer installed by any professional who's a member of the InstallCard network — there are more than 1,500 locations all across the country. You'll get all the benefits of buying your amp or EQ from Crutchfield, plus the time savings and peace of mind that come with professional installation.

Note: InstallCard uses a network of independent contractors who are unaffiliated with Crutchfield, and we are unable to evaluate each individual contractor.

How does it work?

Simple. First, enter your zip code to see if there's an InstallCard installer in your area (if you don't see an installer listed, you may wish to call InstallerNet at the number listed below the zip code field. New installers are added to the network frequently, so there may be options available for you that aren't yet listed online). Then, just add this card to your online shopping cart, and proceed through checkout as usual. When you receive the card from us, visit, enter the unique InstallCard number on the back of the card, and schedule your installation with the local shop.

When you arrive for your appointment at your local stereo shop, just hand over the InstallCard, the amplifier or equalizer you've purchased along with its wiring, your Crutchfield invoice (it will be included in the box with your order), and your installation begins. And you can feel confident about the quality of work — every installer on the InstallerNet Network has at least two years' experience and is MECP (Mobile Electronics Certified Professional) certified. InstallerNet feels so strongly about the expertise of their installers, that they will warranty the labor of your installation for the life of your vehicle.

What does this card cover?

With this InstallCard a professional installer will install an external amplifier (2-channel or mono) or equalizer (EQ installations include power wiring) to an existing car stereo system. The installer will not provide RCA patch cables, or power and ground cables for amplifier installations. So, we recommend that you purchase the appropriate wiring along with your amp or EQ from Crutchfield. Custom wiring options may cost extra, so be sure to ask your installer. Be sure to read the Details below to see what's covered. Please call an Advisor at 1-888-955-6000 if you have any questions.

Important note: This installation does not cover modifications to your vehicle. If modifications are required, you may be charged extra at the time of installation. Your installer will inform you of any additional charges before performing the work, so you can approve the charges.

Important Note: Install Cards are not eligible for refunds once installation work is performed.

  • If equipment is determined to be defective during the process of the installation or immediately after while still at the install shop, the installer will swap in its replacement when it arrives at no charge.
  • If the Manufacturer's product becomes defective sometime after the initial installation, and it is determined that the malfunction is not caused by the installation, then the installer will replace the defective unit with a new unit supplied by the customer, and the customer will be responsible for an R&R (removal and reinstallation) charge which will not exceed 50% of the original installation charge.
  • If the customer chooses to remove non-defective equipment (swapping for a different brand, for example), Installer Net will charge for a completely new installation.

Product Highlights:

  • pre-paid installation of an amplifier or equalizer at your choice of more than 1,500 professional stereo shops

  • to find out if an installer is available in your area, click here to enter your zip code
  • installation labor is warrantied for as long as you own the vehicle
  • Important note: This installation does not cover modifications to your vehicle. If modifications are required, you may be charged extra for parts and labor at the time of installation. Your installer will inform you of any additional charges before performing the work, so you can approve the charges. Some possible extra charges (parts, labor, or both) include:
    • your vehicle has a premium factory sound system (Bose, Infinity, Monsoon, etc.) that requires bypassing of the internal amplifier
    • you need to use a high-level to low-level signal adapter to connect the amplifier to your stereo (if your stereo doesn't have preamp outputs and your amplifier doesn't have speaker-level inputs, for example)
    • you choose to install a multi-channel amplifier; this InstallCard covers the installation of a 2-channel or mono amplifier only
  • warranty: limited lifetime

Think About This Carefully

John M. from Pottsville, PA on 6/5/2017

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a mixed bag review for me. I purchased the card thinking it would be an easy way to facilitate installation. A local car stereo store was on their provider list so I chose them first. Didn't hear from them, when I called the owner said he denied the install as it wasn't enough to cover his expenses. He was a jerk about it too. OK so i visited the website to choose another installer but their website doesn't allow the consumer to do so once the card has been entered in the system. OK so I call the number on the card and it goes to a recorded message that goes to the department needed, that never answers. While waiting the customer can listen to the same song: "I've got a feeling...That tonight's going to be a good night.." over and over. Days later I successfully get someone on the phone and listen to the same song as she tries to find someone willing to make some money installing the sub. Get appointment 32 miles away and the installer does a good job with the install except while doing so, breaks the CD changer on the radio. He plans to replace the unit if I pay for the installation. We will see.

Pros: Sub I had installed works well.

Cons: Poor customer service. Really poor website function for the person who actually buys the service. Reflects poorly on Crutchfield's reputation.

Eric from Phoenix, AZ on 4/5/2016

They only install during the week. I submitted my request on their website and after 3 days I didn't hear anything. I had to call them and they called 6 locations and none of them could / or wanted to do it. Ended up having to go across town 30 miles to get it installed.

Pros: Install went good.

Cons: Customer service is poor.

Hakeem from Wellington, FL on 2/22/2016

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've used these cards before with no issues however this time has been different. Followed the regular procedure to activate and request an installation appointment. An entire week has gone by with no response from any installer in the area. I've both called and emailed installernet directly with no response as well. Also, the website is useless for anything other than activating a card. No functionality for reaching out to actual installers directly or to cancel and restart a request in a different areas.

Pros: When it works as its supposed to, very useful.

Cons: Poor customer service

Crutchfield response on 2/29/2016 Once we saw this review, our Customer Support team reached out to ensure the customer is being helped. We'll either help him get the installation confirmed, or help put him in contact with the installer.

Don't Buy!

Kansas from Dothan, Alabama on 1/11/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I activated the card and waited a week for a response. Nothing! Monday, I will be more aggressive in getting an explanation from Install Card. I will not purchase an install card again.

Crutchfield response on 1/14/2015 We're sorry to hear they didn't get back to you right away. Hopefully this is just a case of it being an extremely busy time for installers right after the holidays. A member of our Customer Support team has reached out, but if you continue to have problems please let us know.

Very easy process!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The three installers near me had gone out of business. Installnet worked with me to find another one a little further away. I think their customer service was good. The install went well.

Pros: Convenient and courteous service.

Cons: Would like to see the names of the installers when choosing a location.

Installcard for subwoofer

Tracy B. from Southern California on 4/26/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I felt that the whole installcard process was slow and encumbered. Installcard had a hard time finding an installer willing to do the work. I was not impressed with them. In the end the work was done well by a local installer. Next time I'll just use someone local.

Pros: Eventually got the job done.

Cons: Hard to deal with.

Wouldn't buy again

Matt from Pittsburgh, PA on 4/13/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

First let me say my problem isn't with Crutchfield, they processed the order and sent it as expected. Installernet (the company that provides this service), did not respond to my support emails, they do not tell you WHO is going to install your equipment. They give you choices based on location. They also ignored the location I chose with a different location without asking me. The installer was qualified but in a hurry. I ended up redoing 2/3 of the install myself due to it being done poorly by the installer.I know I could have went back to get it fixed, but didn't want to spend the time.

Pros: Crutchfield shipped it on time and correctly

Cons: Installernet doesn't tell you who is doing the work Installernet doesn't answer support emails Installernet doesn't honor your selection of vendor location

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was perfect for me. I dont have the time to try to istall the sub I got. It was fairly quick and super easy. Make sure that make an appointment as soon as you can if you want the intallation ASAP. You gotta schedule an appointment after three business days.

Pros: Doesn't get any easier than this

Cons: Just make sure you start the appoint process right away.

Chad from Portland, OR on 4/22/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This thing was a lifesaver! My friend and I purchased this along with a Kicker powered subwoofer and Rockford Fosgate installation kit for her husband's birthday. I would have installed this with him, but I've never had to run wires through the firewall to the battery before. Plus, installation labor has a lifetime warranty with this, so I figured the additional cost would save me grief and guilt for breaking his truck down by not knowing what I'm doing. The installer actually came to their house and put it in, and ended up not needing the installation kit! I wasn't there myself, but my friends said he was very pleasant and professional throughout the process, called exactly at the appointment time to let them know he was running late because they couldn't find their house, tested the installation and showed them how to control the subwoofer volume using the settings on the head unit as well as the rotary dial remote he mounted to the dash.

Pros: Makes what would take the majority of a Saturday into an hour. In our case, the installer came to us, so we didn't even have to lift a finger!

Cons: Yet to find one!

I am glad I got this!

Benwa from MS on 3/11/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I saved a good bit of cash by purchasing the install card. I also received quality work from a qualified installer instead of taking my system to a Best Buy crook, or shady install place. The installer did a great job on my vehicle. He was very careful not to scratch or damage the car while he worked, and he showed me how to tweak the system afterwards. I will buy an install card for my next purchase as well. If I had one complaint it would be the amount of time I had to wait before I could get an appointment with the installer.

Pros: Professional, Quality, Warranty, Price.

Cons: Waiting time for an appointment

Difficult to find an installer

JimS from PA on 11/15/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

There are so many thing wrong with this. Although it is a great concept, it just doesn't work. It took forever to find an installer that would even take the job of installing a piece of equipment that we didn't buy from them ... some flat out refused. I have to travel an hour to get it done. The cost is not what installers charge. This is a down payment. InstallCard is not very responsive. They booked an appointment with someone who didn't even install audio! I had to find out after I called to book the appointment. Then, they told me they would find another local installer (this was the 4th attempt mind you) and I waited several days and they never called expecting to have an appontment booked. When I called them back to confirm, they gave the excuse that shop never called them back ... hello, that means the shop didn't want the work! Book someone else and call the end customer! We finally got one booked an hour away on the 3rd call to them and the 6th audio shop attempted. Bottom line: If you are going to install yourself, buy gear from Crutchfield, they are very good. If you are attempting to have a local installer do it, just go local ... far less headaches.

Pros: Partial payment towards an install.

Cons: Difficult to find installer Lack of response from InstallCard Cost differences

The install card was perfect it made getting my amp installed easy. I gave them my card and they knew just what to do there was nothing for me to do. I did'nt even have to pay anymore money.

3 day wait

Anonymous from San Antonio on 4/12/2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just a heads up, Installcard requires a three day wait in order for their subcontractors to schedule an appointment with you. Also they don't tell you exactly the name of the places for you to choose from only the distance from your location. Overall it is a good deal and the installation was done perfectly.

Super Quick, Super Easy!

Q from New York, NY on 3/31/2009

Ordered my card online, and was at my house in 2 days. Crutchfield sent me an email a day before it came to set up the appointment though, which was really appreciated as I wanted to get it done ASAP. Gave my card to the installer, and he knew just what to do, I didn't have to say anything!! My install went great with no problem, and I was outta there!! That's that way all installations should go. Thanks Crutchfield.......(One thing the shop charged me $25 for an extra adapter, expect there to be at least an extra charge or something, as the shops have to make money too. But $25 was nothing, as I was expecting more like $100.)

Pro installation all the way!

Ken from Burlington County, NJ. on 2/17/2009

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Couldn't be more happier! Ordered my installcard and had it in just 2 days. Called the installer on Monday and had my amp installed on Wednesday. Took only 2 hours to hook up. The only additional extras that I had to pay for was the 4-gauge wire and battery fuse.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Brought my car in to have a powered subwoofer installed. Turned out to be quite an order to get it installed right, but the installer did a great job. I'm sure I would have paid much, much more had I not used the InstallCard. Will definitely go this route again in the future.

The install card is the best idea in mobile electronics

Car Audio Fanatic from Los Angeles, CA on 7/16/2007

Buying the install card is totally worth it. I buy product from Crutchfield about every three months and i also purchase my installation from them because that way i get a set price that doesn't change because i bring in a different car every time. It guarantees professional installation every time from qualified installers. I make my appointment when its most convenient for me. The installers that were recommended by the install card were extremely professional. I even send my wife when i cant make it and i don't have to worry about them ripping her off because she is a women that doesn't know one thing about car audio, even though I'm a Fanatic. Believe me when i say that buying your installation from Crutchfield is very good idea. Like i said before i buy all the time and i haven't been let down yet (by Crutchfield or my installers).<BR><BR>Car Audio Fanatic.....
