Affordable, integrated SiriusXM

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Using this with a Kenwood KDC-X896 receiver. Very nice product with integrated receiver control. Because all of the controls are integrated in the receiver, the tuner module itself is not very big; it's smaller than most bar cell phones. I ended up zip tying it to the back of the pocket in the replacement dash adapter. The Instant Replay feature lets you pause/rewind/replay up to 30 minutes of programming, which is a nice feature. Receiver integrated also allows for iTunes tagging assuming your receiver supports that. Not sure it it's a Sirius vs. SiriusXM thing or what, but the reception on this isn't quite as good as what I experienced with the portable Sirius unit I previously used, and it's antenna was just sitting inside the car on the dash, not installed properly on the roof of the car like this new one is.

Pros: Integrated receiver control provides a cleaner install. Instant Replay and iTunes tagging are nice added features over previous portable unit.

Cons: SiriusXM antenna reception not quite as good as previous Sirius-branded portable unit.

SiriusXM tuner

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

My wife wanted satellite radio after enjoying it on the OEM unit in her mother's car. The toughest part of the installation was routing the antenna cable from the roof of her 4-dr sedan around to the dash but they give you plenty of cable and it's very thin which helps. Sound is great and my wife loves the "narrowcasts" on satellite so she can dial up specific country genres.

Pros: Small size, easy to hide inside the dash. Plug and play connectivity, priced right.

Cons: Antenna placement is more critical than AM/FM.

XM is easy

jem from Chicago, IL on 4/27/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

If you can plug in a headphone jack you can install this unit. I put the antenna on the roof so the long cable was a plus. TIP, if you have a Sirius account with multiple radio's you can get a discount for XM just not as steep as the multiple user discount. Just call and ask for a discount.

Pros: Easy install.

Cons: none.

Adding XM Couldn't be easier! Just plug it in to the Head Unit & Run the Antenna Wiring & thats it! Works Perfectly

Pros: Super Easy Installation

Cons: None

The best tuner ever.

Bart from Queens, NY on 4/4/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This tuner it's so small it can easily be put behind the dash (2011 Subaru Forester). My previous one was so big I had to make a spacial place in my trunk. I installed it on March 7th and it's still working. I do have my own account and was ready to switch but decided to expire by itself since I do not have all the stations.

Pros: Small. Easy installation. Small roof antenna. Long antenna cable. Long free period. Very good reception.

Cons: none

Love SiriusXM

Good Unit

Don from Louisville, KY on 4/2/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Easiest install I have ever done! One connection to the Kenwood deck and route the wire for the antenna. Sounds great with the Kenwood DX417, good sound quality and good signal quality. This makes 3 satellite radios in our household now!

Great item

Steve from New Port Richey, FL on 3/18/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great item. Easy to install. I love listening to XM Radio.

Pros: Easy to install, small unit so hides almost anywhere.

Cons: A ton of wire for the antenna, sound quality isn't as great as regular FM radio, and on my second unit since the first went out.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I love, love, love this Sirius XM radio! I love the changing display colors!! It is user friendly, unlike the radio I had previously. It has very good reception.

Pros: Multi-changing display colors and very user friendly.

Cons: Had to switch to Sirius XM, whereas I was jointly subscribing with my son on just Sirius radio. Now I have to pay my own monthly bill.

The 5 Day Courtesy .Period Is Way Too Short Come On Netflex Give's You 30 Day's I'am Not In The Car For More Than 2Hr.'s A Day Still Better Than Nothing.

Pros: Small Simple Well Made.

Cons: The 5 Day Courtesy .Period Is Way Too Short Come On Netflex Give's You 30 Day's I'am Not In The Car For More Than 2Hr.'s

Works Great!

Ken B from Pinetop, AZ on 1/26/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Works Great!

Pros: Receives a pretty good signal, even in a rural area that has more 100'+ pine trees per square mile than anywhere else in the US.

Cons: Some areas in the woods get spotty reception. XM account required, but my previous Sirius account with 9 months on it was transferred over to a new account, and they gave me a full year with no restrictions. SiriusXM's customer service has improved significantly recently, the rude reps are gone, and even though I was still on the phone for 42 minutes, it was significantly better than the 4 phone calls in 2 days with a cumulative 3.5 hours. It does take time to get everything up and running.

Great Variety!

BURG from LUMBERTON,NEW JERSEY on 11/26/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This product does exactly what it is designed to do.Reception is crystal clear!Satellite radio gives you a staggering variety of programing. If your head unit is compatible add this tuner. You will not be disappointed.

Pros: Completely hidden behind the dash!

Cons: Nothing

Ron C from S River NJ on 9/8/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is very easy to hook up to my existing Alpine deck !! Essentially it s plug and play . Instructions from crutchfield is top notch !!!!! Reception is not too bad either , occasional drop off going under bridges but much improved from previous sat radio hooked up thru fm modulator . And it is small enough to sit behind my deck for a nice clean install , If you are a Sirius subscriber this will not qualify for discounted rate as it is an xm subscription but I really enjoy sat radio and its not too expensive

This is the way to go for XM radio.

DilipS from Medina, OH on 7/22/2011

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this to go with my Alpine CDE123 system. It is designed to be integrated with the Apine system (simple plug-in). The Alpine CDE124 comes with this XM adapter, but you miss out on extra USB and adding Bluetooth or Steering wheel control for present or future expansion on it which the Alpine CDE 123 unit has. So, keep this in mind and purchase accordingly. The Crutchfield adviser (Zac) was great in putting together the whole system per my requirements and this was part of the overall package. Took the car after installation on a 1000+ mile trip and there were no problems. I installed the antenna on the dash instead of routing it outside and it works fairly well except for momentary loss of signal once in a while. It was my choice and I am happy with it.
