Kenwood funnels Bluetooth® technology and plenty of sound-sculpting options into one affordable car stereo – the KDC-BT558U CD receiver. With this versatile car stereo, you'll enjoy hands-free calling and audio streaming from your phone, and you'll be able to adjust the variable-color display so this Kenwood looks right at home in your dash.
Bluetooth gives you hands-free calling convenience, plus a wireless connection to the songs stored on your compatible music player. This receiver's secure simple pairing (SSP) technology gets you paired up right away, so you can talk hands-free by simply touching the dedicated "phone" button when a call comes in. If you're an iPhone® aficionado, the KDC-BT558U automatically pairs with your iPhone to give you full Siri Eyes Free control.
This receiver can alert you to incoming text messages that you can check when you're out of the car. You'll enjoy superior communication with the external Bluetooth microphone placed in a good spot in your vehicle.
If you enjoy Internet radio on your iPhone or Android®, you can play music from Pandora® and iHeartRadio® Internet radio on this great-sounding receiver. And if you're into radio, you can add a satellite radio tuner to this Kenwood, and get into the in-depth music and entertainment programming provided by SiriusXM.
The receiver's front-panel USB port allows you to access and control the music stored on your iPhone or Android phone. And if you have MP3, WMA, or WAV music files on a thumb drive, the USB port can handle those too. Here's a cool feature from Kenwood — Drive Change allows you to connect a memory card reader or USB hub to the Kenwood's USB input and select music from up to five memory cards or USB flash drives.
The 3-band equalizer lets you tweak your music to fit better in your car's acoustics, or you can choose one of the preset equalizer settings to suit your personal taste. You can use the subwoofer level, low-pass frequency filter, and phase controls to tweak the bass going to your subwoofer.
In most vehicles, you can use an adapter (not included) to connect your vehicle's steering wheel controls to this Kenwood stereo. Connect a few wires, program the adapter for your car and this Kenwood, and you'll retain the convenience of your steering wheel controls. Check the "Accessories" tab for compatible adapters.
Bluetooth note: Use of this receiver's Bluetooth features will depend upon your phone's Bluetooth capabilities. Learn more in our article explaining Bluetooth profiles.
iPod/smartphone note: If you're going to use your iPod or smartphone with this receiver, be sure to check "Details" for compatibility information.

Sounds Great good deal fast shipping
I purchased this unit Sep 14. A couple of weeks ago, the preout level started attenuating itself (sound level dropped & would not allow me to control it). When I contacted Tech Support, I was told that there is nothing that they could do for me after 90 days. Now I have to buy a replacement unit. Save yourself the headache & worry....Buy A New Unit So You Will Have The Full Factory Warranty!
Pros: Low price
Cons: 90 day warranty
installed in the car and we like it..
Pros: Looks good and sounds good
Cons: Hard to figure out at first and knob is odd
The display for the factory radio in my car was constantly flickering, etc., so I bought the kdc-bt558u from crutchfield. Camce with all the installation gear free, so it was a great deal. The bluetooth call and streaming quality is excellent, had to get a newer Sirius tuner to work with the radio, and that sounds great too. Tuner seems very strong...I live in Lewes DE, and I can get Philadelphia stations(sometimes). Display is bright and I find it very easy to read. I got a refurbished moel, so it was even cheaper than the price listed, but even at full price this is a bargain. I originally wanted to have the usb on the back so I could hide the wire and plug my ipod in while hiding it in my glovebox, but with the bluetooth streaming, I managed to make matching playlists on my phone and use it instead. All in all, a great radio.
Pros: Bluetooth, USB, Sirius capability, great sound
Cons: USB on front, not rear...probably won't matter to most people.
