The Sonos BRIDGE is an easy, cost-effective way to expand your Sonos Music System. This tiny device connects to your router, allowing you to use any of your Sonos music players wirelessly, anywhere in your home. By creating a dedicated wireless network for Sonos, it offers more stable performance than using a Wi-Fi® connection for your Sonos speakers. It's a great way to ensure you can enjoy more music in more rooms throughout your home.
The Bridge also lets you extend the range of your Sonos system. Just place a Bridge between a player in your system and the new area where you'd like to listen, such as a detached garage, for example. Or enjoy your music on outdoor speakers — easily control a player located indoors from your pool on the far side of your yard.
You can have up to 32 Sonos music players in your system, and each one can play an independent selection of individual tracks or playlists. Listen to jazz in the den while your spouse plays rock music in the kitchen, or pump a single playlist of songs throughout the entire house during a party.

Easy set up, great app that manages your whole home sound
Pros: Ease of use, very reasonable cost.
Cons: Needs to transmit stronger. I understand Sonos is coming with Bridge Boost, pushing the signal to longer distances in your home.
I needed the bridge to connect all of my Sonos speakers via Wifi in my space. Was easy to install and sync. All is working just perfect!
Pros: Works as advertised
Cons: Only glitch is that if you unplug a speaker (i.e.: moving it to another room or outside) the system has to be reprogramed again. A minor inconvenience.
This is a hard box to review. It arrives , I assimilates itself , it performs its important function quietly and efficiently. It just works! A true rarity in this digital world.
Pros: It arrived, it turned on , it worked without fanfare, it was reasonably priced.
Cons: None so far
Easy to set up. works perfectly.
Pros: works perfectly.
A snap to set up. It's co-located with my router in the basement. I use the Sonos 2 with my computer or iPhone on the main floor or outside on the patio with no problem whatsoever.
As promised, easy connect, could not have been any easier to connect. Added the Sonos Connect and away you go with endless music posibilities
Pros: Simply Great
I set this up using home network, which uses a AT&T wireless router and iPhone/iPad/IMac controllers. Only one speaker so far. Everything was straight forward.
Pros: Easily set up
Cons: None so far
Hook this baby up to your router and you are streaming music all over the world through the Sonos Connect. What a great device.
Pros: Easy to install and out of the way, mine is hooked into my router down in the basement.
Quck connection to my router via Ethernet and I was up and running in no time.
Pros: Easy to set-up. Works like a charm. Comes with everything you need to connect!
Cons: None I can think of.
What more can one want than this bridge between hooked up to an airport extreme and the Sonos that is currently producing wonderful music downstairs.
Inexpensive, small solution for expanding a Sonos network in one's home, for establishing the required ethernet connection one's router for use with additional Sonos devices. I have a Connect in one room, and two Play 1s in stereo mode in my master bedroom. So far, everything works and was easy to set-up. The Bridge is a nice, affordable devise to either create the necessary hard-wire connection, or to expand one's mesh network.
Pros: Inexpensive, small footprints, works
This is a must for your Sonos speakers. All my music is available to me where I want it. So easy to set-up and use!
Pros: Easy setup. Give you an amazing Hi-Fi system for you music.
There are very few products I would call "perfect".....this is a PERFECT product.
Pros: Amazing sound, full featured, great looking, high quality.
Simple setup, created an easy avenue to add additional components to my system. Highly recommended!
Pros: The setup was seamless and allowed me to setup my system of new speakers throughout my home. I would recommend this to anyone, especially those of us who are less savvy than others.
Cons: None that I can think of.
The SONOS Bridge and Connect units are great. Very easy to hook into my system and it took about 20 minutes and was up and running. Nice equipment.
Pros: Easy to set up and provides great sound to my NAD integrated amp-preamp.
very easy to connect. i can plat music without getting disconnected anywhere inside the house
It's pretty straightforward. Connects your Sonos system when your home infrastructure sucks. Get one if you don't have data ports in your house.
Pros: Easy to use Quick set up
Cons: Doesn't come in purple
We have two Sonos bridges to expand the range in the house although one was doing just fine. Great sound throughout the house. Crutchfield was awesome to work with... The package arrived in two days. I even got a handwritten thank you note a few weeks later.
It does its job. Now, I need to figure out how to modify it to handle more speakers and such. Going to be fun!
Pros: Easy to use
Cons: None that I can see
Great... And as special came with my pair is Sonos 1 speakers.
Pros: Instant set up.
Cons: So easy to set up you feel you should have had to work harder to get such good results.
Functional product. Currently using with a number of sonos products to extend the wireless range so that I can control speakers that are outside while outside (despite the connect amp being inside).
Pros: Easy set up
When I examined the Sonos collection of devices, I wondered why in the world a bridge was necessary, instead of just having a device that talked to my ethernet router without any go-between. Now that I've used the Bridge with a Sonos Connect, the lights finally came on. This is kind of like a Master Control Router for all of the places on wants to stream music (or talk) to, in a home or small business. By going through this simple bridge, one gets to bypass going to multiple devices similar to the Sonos Connect, Sonos Play Stations, Sonos Amp, etc., and set them up to talk back to the internet using multiple control points. The bridge lets one see one menu for everything and select from it to provide service for multiple locations. It's great!
Pros: Simple, even to the point of providing an output jack to connect the Ethernet router to whatever might've been needed on the port that the bridge uses. I like that kind of thinking!
This is a great system, it sounds great and simple to use. Highly recommended!
Sonos products are amazing! The wireless bridge was free with my purchase but I would gladly pay for it too! Allows easy wireless placement of all your Sonos components and works perfectly!
Pros: Takes less than a minute to setup and works perfectly!
Cons: It's not available in black..
This unit replaced another Bridge which was hit by lightening. This is very easy to install and took less than 15 minutes to set up. One word of caution: If you are replacing a Bridge, your previous settings (Radio, Favorites etc) might be deleted. Other than that, this is a great running system
Pros: Easy to set up and takes up very little space
Relatively striaght forward to set up
Easy to set up with the play:5
Pros: Easy to set up
Plug and play. Uses proprietary network which makes it trouble free.
I have this supporting a PLAY:1 and a PLAY:5 and the syncrhonisation appears to be good so far with no drops. Not sure what the range will be like when I one in the top level. Maybe having this support power over ethernet would enable easier positioning nearer the middle of the house.
Pros: Small and easy to setup.
Cons: Would have loved for this to have a line in, then it would have been 5 stars. I have not googled this yet, but would like to be able to add new remotes without having to push the button.
Got it with the play 5's and the thing works just like it's suppose to
Pros: Got a couple of these things and only really need one for my house...have not tried it outside yet to find it's limit but seeing how it works and I don't need to have wires anymore....great!
Cons: Haven't found any yet.
Easy setup and works great
Pros: setup a snap,works great
Cons: only in white(would like black)ethernet cable not included?
The Sonos Bridge is small and easy to set up. And it came free with my Play1.
Pros: The Sonos Bridge is small and easy to set up. And it came free with my Play1.
Wis I had gotten the Sonos system sooner. I absolutely love it! Use Connect Amp to current speakers and Connect to rock speaker that are connected to receiver and amp. All sounds great!
I purchased the Bridge with a Connect Amp and am very pleased. It is easy to set up with great sound and functionality. It is a compact unit, which is nice. I hope Sonos introduces feature to play simultaneously through computer speakers.
Pros: Easy set-up.
Cons: Cannot play music simultaneously through speakers hooked up to computer. Did not know wireless router was needed to use smart phone app as controller.
Bought this with the Play 5. Yes, it really is as easy to connect as the instructions state. Bridge and Play 5 were up and running in 15 minutes. Device easily connected to Play 5 and Android phone and iPad used as controllers. The system has been up and running for about a month and there hasn't been the slightest hiccup.
Pros: Ease of installation, use, stability.
Cons: None at this time.
This is one of those components which you just need...not glamorous, but functional. My BrRIDGE was purchased to replace one zapped by lightening. Without it I lost use of my Sonos system in my exercise room and shop. Easy to install and connect with the system, and I have music back for workouts and while routing and sawing. Flawless, as is usual with Sonos.
Pros: Easy to install, reasonably priced.
Cons: Not a one.
Sonos bridge gives your Sonos Connect and other products a wireless connection to stream your music to your home stereo. On rare occasions its a little sluggish. I'm very impressed overall.
Pros: Great product. Easy to install.
Cons: It can be sluggish on rare occasions.
Fantastic! I bought the Play 5, set it up in about 10 minutes and have been using it as a sort of portable speaker since. I liked it so much I bought another play 5 one week later. Sound is better than I thought possible for a wireless speaker. This is easily the equivalent of a paid of $500 WIRED speakers. Great product!
Pros: Great sound, easy set up. Easy control through IPhone. Wife even likes it!
Cons: Not water proof and no option for batteries - both would make it more pool-side friendly.
So easy to use and quality is great. Bought it to use with my play 5. Up and running within 10 minutes. Highly recommend. Did I mention the Play 5 thing rocks?
The Sonos Bridge is a nice compact device that integrates well into a computer setup because it takes up little space. It broadcasts far and wide as I used it for an outdoor party I had to serve my favorite music to Sonos PLAY:5 that I set far away from the Bridge in my yard. All of the music was received and played with zero delay and output loud and clear. The guests were intrigued by this device. I use the Bridge to support my Sonos PLAY:5 daily as I work from home and enjoy listening to a variety of radio stations and my music throughout each day.
Pros: The BRIDGE is nice and compact and beautifully designed. I can set the BRIDGE in a variety of locations because of its compactness that helps with my crowded home office.
Friends recommended the Sonos Bridge and Speaker system, and after listening to the great results for several days, I am absolutely delighted. The possibilities are endless, and I tell everyone what a wonderful way it is to listen to music and radio from around the globe--and that is after barely three days of use. I look forward to expanding my use day by day. Thanks for your inventiveness!
One of the best purchases I have made for entertainment. The home I live in is nearly impossible to wire for convential speakers. I had read about Sonos and it seemed like one of the best options. It is super easy to setup. It takes longer to get it out of the box than to set it up. Having my IPad as the remote is awesome. I use Rhapsody and Sirius as my primary music sources and i listen to a lot of music. I had been using a docking station contacted to my receiver and it worked fine but i found myself just listening to a channel or playlist most of the time. Now with my Sonso, I hear something I like or what to listen to more of an artist, I just pickup my IPad. I have to say the Sonso ap is very user friendly. The sound quality is good. I will be buying additional units for the other rooms in my house.
Pros: Easy setup Access to all my music
Cons: Not cheap
Ready to go right out of the box .... 10 minute setup . It doesn't get much easier than this !!!
Pros: Ease of installation .
My experience with the BRIDGE started with the helpful folks at Crutchfield walking my through the needed components to hook up my receiver and speakers to a Sonos system. Out of the box the BRIDGE was easy to setup and had all of the wiring needed to attached the unit to my router. One item of note on page 8 of the online manual it states: "Connect a Sonos component to your broadband router using an Ethernet cable (supplied)." I initially connected mine to the broadband router in my home but was having firewall trouble when attempting to connect to the bridge from my PC. As a result, I made a quick change to connect to my wireless router and the firewall issues were quickly resolved. My firewall is managed at the wireless router not my broadband router. After that was resolved I installed the included software from the CD on my PC and downloaded the App on my mobile device and was enjoying my system in less than an hour. I also purchased the CONNECT to receive the Sonos signal from the BRIDGE at my receiver. Next I will be adding a PLAY5 to expand my system to a room where the speakers are not wired into the house.
Pros: Easy setup Purchase simplicity and customer service from the folks at Crutchfield
Cons: Clarify the users guide related to the router used to eliminate confusion on firewall issues.
Easy set up. Excellent sound
Pros: Easy set up.
Nice working unit but could use more range
Pros: Works as described
Cons: could use more range to other units
The Sonos Bridge is a must have if you want all your Sonos products to sync.
Pros: Allows all your Sonos products to connect with no wires.
Wow! I have installed whole home automation and music systems for years, this one is by far the best music product. Very simple to install with or without built in speakers, the unit links automatically and merges with iTunes seamlessly. Tech support superior and very responsive. ( I called tech support because I knew I had missed something, it was all too easy)
Pros: Ease of use
Cons: only comes in white
Need it for the Connect. All good.
Pros: Easy set up.
Love the functionality and control of all of our music from one station.
Easy to set up.
Pros: After we bought it, the software is upgraded so now we can play the music stored in our iPhone.
The Sonos Bridge couldn't have been easier to set up or to attach other Sonos products to. Just plug in the supplied Ethernet cable to the Bridge and your router, then plug in the power cord, and insert the supplied software CD into your computer and push the button on top of the Bridge when prompted. Done!
Pros: Elegant design Foolproof set up
this was easy to set up to use with my new Play 5. wasup and running in minutes. it seems to have a good range.
Pros: easy set up. best part was it cam free with my Play 5.
Sleek, small and easy. No issues. Just plan and simple.
Pros: Free at times with purchase of SONOS equipment . Otherwise very reasonably priced.
I actually got an open box of this item from Crutchfield to go with a Sonos 5 I had just purchased. Set up is really easy. I'm going from a loft down 16 ft, then down another 50 ft, where the Sonos 5 is almost directly under the bridge. I've only had a to change the channels( for it to work twice). This whole system is a no brainer. If you have the money and don't want a trraditional "stereo" I strongly recommend Sonos for all music lovers.
Pros: Easy set up, AC cord good length, inconspicuous.
Simple little thing that does the trick. Got this with the 3 speaker and all is working well.
Easy to hook up and use. Graet product!
Excellent performance. I could not ask for something better and more reliable.
Pros: Very reliable wireless communication with my home network.
Couldn't be easier to setup and easily reached my ZP120 in the basement which was a good distance away, on a lower level and surrounded by concrete block. Very happy.
Pros: Easy setup, good range and good price.
I always thought Sonos was too expensive for what can do. Not true! The convenience this product provides is unbelievable. I can sit on my patio and control the songs and volume for separate rooms or all together at the same time. The app really seals the deal for this product. It synchs beautifully with your iTunes and your computer does not have to remain on. You can select songs to play next in line after your current song is over, cut it off midstream, or add it to play at the end of your current queue. This will take the sound in your home to the next level.
Cons: The price can get high depending on how many rooms you want to add. The good thing is that you can add on later or buy one of the portable units to cover to rooms that you wouldn't want sound in at the same time.
Nothing bad to say about this product. I'm just amazed at the quality/reliability. A+
Very easy to set up with included Cd.Works great.
Pros: Easy set up.After reg. with sonos they send emails with updates as needed, great way to do business. Crutchfield is the only place to buy!
This is an Excellent product. Simple setup and works as well as the manufacturer claims. Would definitely recommend Sonos as it adds a whole new dimension to your home Audio.
I read all of the reviews for this product on Crutchfield's website, and was convinced to make the purchase. I had been using Apple Airport Expresses to stream music throughout my house, but constantly lost the signal and needed to reset my Airports. Even when they were "connected", the signal would always fade in and out. No more with Sonos. I've been running almost the same setup as I had before, but with Sonos components, and not one single issue. The system was extremely easy to set up, and moving components from room to room is a brease! The best part of it is the controller. I downloaded it from the Sonos website in about a minute, then loaded the app on my iPhone. I can control music in the house from either, interchangeably.
Pros: Signal strength is outstanding. In three months, I have not had one song "skip," nor has there been a hint of interference.
Cons: I waited too long to make the purchase!
My house layout is a little bit tricky to have a strong wifi signal. Eventhough is a smart house the idea is two use my two Play 5 without any wires so I can moved around the house. I just install two bridges one in each floor and the coverage is amazing. It does not matter if I'm in the porch, second floor or washing my car in the front of my house I never loose the connection on my Sonos.
Pros: Signal coverage is amazing!!!!! And footprint is perfect to locate it anywhere. In addition this is a plug and play device so you just need around 5 min to get it ready to use it.
Not much to say - took just a few minutes to set the bridge up with my ZP-90. Works perfectly and the small form factor makes it easy to hide. I love the Sonos system!
I did a lot of research on many components of the Sonos system for months before I finally decided to pull the trigger. I ordered a Zone Player 90 (hooked to my AVR in family room), an S-5 (for my fire pit) and of course a Zone Bridge which is the heart of the system. I expected this wireless system to be awesome when it was set up but it is so much more than that. Why I didn't buy this 3 years ago is beyond me. The set up for everything was really a piece of cake. I did run into a minor problem when trying to add my iTunes into the Sonos software of my PC. It turned out to be a glitch with my McAfee anti-virus software and was easily resolved directly with Sonos over the phone (they accessed my computer remotely and fixed the problem). Also downloaded the Sonos app on my iTouch which works seamlessly as the controller for my system. The customer service that Crutchfield and Sonos (direct) offers is just phenomenal. I now have an incredible wireless system in my home that I can build upon for years!! If you are wavering on this purchase, JUST BUY IT!
I am using the Zone Bridge with my wireless backup system. It is not only a wireless router to my computer, but I am using it to store my iTunes library. Consequently, I did not have to connect my computer to the Zone Bridge with an Ethernet Cable. I am able to maintain a wireless network. With that said, I love the SONOS system.
After originally purchasing a Sonos system, it was evident that I needed to increase the signal to the farthest component which was 75 feet from the ZoneBridge. The Crutchfield rep was not certain that adding an additional off-network ZoneBridge between the distant component and the existing ZoneBridge would work to boost the signal or not. He suggested that I try and see what happens and if it was not successful I could return the item for a refund. I simply placed the new ZoneBridge between the existing ZoneBridge and component, powered it up and voila!!...problem fixed. The initial question as to if this was going to work or not centered around the fact that the 2nd ZoneBridge was not going to be on the network. For those needing to boost their Sonos signal without having to add cat5 cable all over the house, this is the fix!
All of the sonos products are very easy to setup and to use. The zonebridge is no different. I purchased my system (BU130) with a zoneplayer 100 and a zoneplayer 80 and had to use the 80 to connect to my router. The zonebridge has allowed me to connect my zoneplayer 80 to the receiver which I had intended to use it for. For the price, it is definitely worth it to liberate another player from the internet connection. Overall, the sonos system is extremely easy to use and works great for homes which in-wall systems are either not possible or simply too expensive. One nice feature is to centralize your music onto a Network Accessed Storage device which is compatable with sonos (See CNET for more info on this) and access your entire library from one location without having to leave a computer on. The free trials to rhapsody and other sites have really opened my eyes to the full potential of this system. This is definitely a great, well designed product.
Tuve algunos problemas para que el sistema lo identifique. Pero cuando lo reconoció todo anduvo perfecto. Sonos da otra dimensión a la música en mi casa. El Zone Bridge 100 extendió el alcance para un sector donde la señal era débil. Excelente producto y sistema. Ampliamente recomendable!
WOW ! I bought this along with a ZP80 and CR100 controller....unbelievable. It took 10 minutes to set up and get it running flawlessly. Talk about easy - and great for ANYONE to play with ! WOW ! Do not wait ..this will CHANGE how often you listen to music ! Do you remember how much FUN it used to be to hear all your songs ? BUY SONOS TODAY !
Overview: The Sonos Bridge is used to connect a Sonos Digital Music System to your home network or to extend the wireless range of your existing Sonos Digital Music System. The Sonos Bridge makes setting up your wireless Sonos system fast and easy by simply connecting the Bridge to your router to instantly activate SonosNet (a secure wireless mesh network). All your Sonos players (Connect, Connect:Amp, Play:3, Play:5, and Play:1) will work wirelessly and can be placed anywhere in your home. Although the Bridge doesn't play music like a Sonos player, it's an effective way to extend the range of your Sonos system and expand the Controller's wireless coverage. It's also a way to connect other products to the Internet.
Note: This unit is not a stand-alone device and requires at least one Sonos player (Connect, Connect:Amp, Play:3, Play:5, or Play:1 device)
Instant Wired/Wireless Setup: The Bridge connects to your router using a standard Ethernet cable connection (2-port switch, 10/100Mbps, auto MDI/MDIX). Then, a simple press of the button located on top of the Bridge will start SonosNet, a secure AES encrypted, peer-to-peer wireless mesh network that enables other Sonos products to control and play music wirelessly.
System Flexibility: Once you've set up your Bridge, you can easily add components anytime. If your home has structured (built-in) wiring, you can make a wired connection to additional Sonos players or Bridges. If you don't have structured wiring, you can take advantage of Sonos' built-in wireless technology. The Bridge provides flexibility to place your Sonos players in any room of the house and connect them all wirelessly.
Ethernet Ports: The Bridge has two Ethernet jacks on the back to bring standard Internet connectivity to your set-top box, PC, Game Console or NAS drive.
Range Expansion: You can stream music wirelessly to a remote location by placing a Bridge between your Sonos player in a remote location and the rest of your Sonos system. You can also improve Controller access to SonosNet by placing the Bridge in areas where wireless coverage needs a boost. The Bridge is ideal for retrofits, where your Sonos players might be in one location instead of being placed throughout your home.
Home Network Requirements: To access Internet music services, Internet radio, and any digital music stored on your computer or Network-Attached Storage (NAS) device, your home network must meet the following requirements:

Ir can be but a speaker will act Like a bridge. So if the speaker is 50 ft from the bridge put another speaker in between. [ YADIRA Aug 15, 2014 ]
My situation has the bridge and a Sonos Connect device located around 70-80 feet apart. If you look at Sonos' literature, their claim for range is for an "average" distance of 50-60 feet, such that they are likely conservative. If you just get online and do a Google search using something like "Sonos Bridge Range", you'll find several articles that address the subject. Sonos does mention that you can use another Bridge to extend their range, if necessary. If it goes like activating the Connect device, that takes a couple of clicks to do. [ MAURICE Aug 15, 2014 ]
Hi Ken- Your answer is technical in nature and my input can only be circumstantial, that is to say based on my experience. If you contact SONOS they will answer any question you may have as they have done for me. [ ARNOLD J Aug 14, 2014 ]
I forwarded your question to an Advisor and they responded with the following: Sonos Play 1 (or any other Sonos player, for that matter) can't be connected directly to a router, however, you can purchase the Sonos Bridge and connect the Bridge into the router. The Bridge will then send the wireless audio signals to the Sonos Play 1. And, yes, the Sonos player has to be plugged in for power. If you would like to discuss further you can contact an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. [ Krissy Jun 11, 2014 ] Staff
Mary R, I have a SONOS BRIDGE connected to my ONKYO TX-SR605 receiver in my Family Room that outputs through seven (7) speakers [i.e. center, two front, two surround, two rear & subwoofer] and it works fine. I'm considering buying another SONOS BRIDGE to connect to my ONKYO TX-NR808 receiver in my basement which is wired to a different set of seven (7) speakers. The main system is a SONOS PLAY 5 system in the master bedroom. Hope this helps. Lindsey [ LINDSEY S Dec 27, 2013 ]
Mary: Yes, you only need one Bridge that you will connect off of your router. From ther you can link up multiple speakers (I currently have three and will be adding a fourth) off of that one Bridge. Hope that helps. [ CURT Dec 17, 2013 ]
one bridge, I hope you have better luck then I had. I spent a totall of 4.5 hours ovev 3 days with their teck and we could not get Sonos to work on my PC. I will unfortunately be sending it back to Crutchfield. Good Luck [ ANTHONY J Dec 13, 2013 ]
Only one bridge is necessary [ LAURIE S Dec 11, 2013 ]
Yes just one, I have one with 4 speakers and works great. [ YADIRA Dec 11, 2013 ]
Yes, only one is needed. But not if you have a Playbar. That will replace the Bridge. If you don't have a playbar, you will need just one. And that has to be hard wired to your dsl or wireless modem. It should have a eithernet port on it. An eithernet cable is included with the bridge. And you must download the sonos app onto a smart phone or tablet. That is your remote control. At the moment Sonus is giving way bridges with each speaker. So I have extras, they sit in my closet. [ JOHN Dec 11, 2013 ]
Hi Mary. Yes. [ DAVID Dec 11, 2013 ]
We only use one Bridge hardwired our wireless router for a very large, old farm house with a five speaker set-up. Suppose you might need another to boost the signal if you have a huge area to cover; I would test before investing in another Bridge. We do have a second Bridge in another building on our property about 150 feet from the house. There was no way to put a Bridge between the house and the outbuilding so for that I ran an ethernet cable underground connected to the Sonos Connect in the house closest to that building...works like a charm. [ Thomas Dec 11, 2013 ]
I have a sound bar on my tv and a play 1 in my bed room both on one bridge. [ JOHN R Dec 11, 2013 ]
Most likely one will do the trick. One needs to be plugged into your router. As long as the speakers are not too far apart from each other and the bridge your fine with one. Each speaker is its own bridge. If for some reason they are placed far apart you may need another bridge as a jumper between the speakers or the base bridge [ PHILIP Dec 11, 2013 ]
Hi, I see you asked if you need more than one bridge for your Sonos components. I have nine Sonos pieces running on one bridge. That's all you should need. If one of your units is far away from the bridge, you may need to get an extender for your wi-fi. No big deal. As you will see, this is one incredible product. The sound is beyond words. Apple should buy this company! Enjoy! [ MARTIN S Dec 11, 2013 ]
My understanding is that Sonos needs one component hard-wired to your router (Ethernet) in order to create a wireless network for Sonos communications. I think any player (e.g., PLAY:5) or a BRIDGE can make this hard-wired connection. So if you don't want to (or can't) hard-wire a player unit, you can use a BRIDGE instead. The latter is my configuration; my PLAY:5 is not near an Ethernet location, but I was able to connect a BRIDGE to my router. The setup could NOT be easier, including the download of the controller app to Android phone and iPad. The system is brilliant, and I'm planning on buying additional PLAY:x units. Hope that helps -- good luck! [ LOUIS Dec 11, 2013 ]
