This is no ordinary sound bar. The Sonos PLAYBAR connects to your TV to play movies, TV shows, and sports with vibrant, room-filling sound. But, unlike other sound bars and like all Sonos speakers, it offers wireless access to a world full of music — Pandora®, Spotify®, Beats Music™, thousands of Internet radio stations, and more. Control the PLAYBAR using your TV's remote control and using the free Sonos app for smartphones and tablets to stream digital music.
The nine-speaker PLAYBAR features three tweeters and six midrange speakers for cinematic sound without loading your room up with speakers. Built-in amplification and processing can handle Dolby® Digital and lossless audio formats. And the PLAYBAR's automatic equalization self-adjusts to the program material to provide rich, seamless sound.
Clearer TV sound
All by itself, the PLAYBAR acts as your front left, center channel, and front right home theater speakers. Connect it to your TV with an included optical digital cable for clean, clear sound from TV shows and movies.
Pair a Sonos SUB with PLAYBAR to add bass impact to your home theater system. The SUB pairs wirelessly with the PLAYBAR at the touch of a button. It's a simple way to enjoy rich, full sound.
Add two Sonos PLAY:1, PLAY:3, or PLAY:5 speakers to the PLAYBAR and SUB for a complete, wraparound movie theater experience in your living room. Like the SUB, the PLAY:3 speakers wirelessly connect to the PLAYBAR so you don't have to run speaker wire around your room.
Note: You can set up a home theater system with the PLAYBAR, the SUB, and other Sonos speakers as surrounds, all without making a wired connection to your router. However, for challenging Wi-Fi® environments we recommend adding the optional Sonos Boost (not included) to make a stable wireless connection.
Control PLAYBAR volume and mute functions using your existing TV, cable, or universal remote. The free Sonos Controller App lets you control PLAYBAR with your smartphone or tablet and allows you to stream music to the PLAYBAR even when your TV is off.
The Sonos system works seamlessly with a host of streaming music services, including Pandora®, Spotify, Apple Music, Rhapsody®, TIDAL and more. You also have access to thousands of Internet radio stations from around the world through TuneIn Radio, and terrestrial radio stations through iHeartRadio. If you subscribe to SiriusXM Internet Radio, you can tune into all your favorite programming on any Sonos player in your system.
Sonos now gives you convenient wireless access to music and podcasts stored in the Music app of iOS devices, for playback throughout your entire Sonos system. This feature works on devices running iOS6 or later (see below for full list of compatible Apple devices). The system even lets you connect multiple Apple players at once. For instance, you can queue up songs from your iPhone to play in the kitchen while you cook, and your spouse can stream a podcast in the den at the same time.

Perfect service and product
Excellent sound quality and sleek appearance. Used the Playbar to replace a very large stereo system. The sound quality is equal or better, but much more user friendly and fits in a small space.
so far, so good.. got it installed and calibrated.. appears we need to set it flat instead of on edge.. seems to block the screen a little if it is on edge. works great, sounds great.. very pleased.
Great product and sound, easy to assemble.
it has great sound for the size and you can take it with you
Excellent sounds, easy setup! Looking forward to adding more Sonos products in the future.
Pros: Everything is great!
Cons: Looking forward when there is Alexa integration
will not synch audio with video when using Sony XBR 040E TV. Had to return. Sound was nice. But audio was way behind video. Therefore audio delay adjustment was not applicable.
Simply put, you get what you pay for! Every aspect of this product is superior including the user interface. Love that I can use my iPhone, iPad & Windows desktop to both play my own music as well as Apple Music to stream the entire iTunes library.
Pros: Superb sound quality. WiFi a huge advantage over Bluetooth. Enhanced TV sound and superb music experience. Can't wait to expand with additional speakers. Love the fact that the Connect product will allow us to utilize our existing speakers. Installation and set up was a breeze.
Crutchfield is the greatest ! Good advice from the experts !
Pros: Ease of setup. Even an "OLD" guy can have this up and running in minutes !!!!!! Get the subwoofer ! it is great !
Cons: Non that I have found
This soundbar is a game changer. Upon receiving this, I called The Crutchfield Team to purchase the Sonos subwoofer. Received what I affectionately call "home theater 101". Crutchfield is second to none!
Pros: Better than being in the theater!
My first sonos product. Not as good as Bose but for wireless pretty good. Guess you can find cheaper products with comparable sound but this one is easy to set up and has the streaming feature build in. Even without the sub the sound is great. Can't believe you have to purchase the wall mount separate.
Pros: Very good sound even without the sub. Build in streaming feature Easy to set up
Cons: Expensive Had to buy wall mount separately
Great sound with TV or music
I am extremely disappointed to learn that this soundbar does not support HD audio formats; e.g. DTS-HD, Dolby Atmos, TrueHD.... Why else would one purchase this for their 4K UHD Home Theater system (LG OLED55B7P, Oppo UDP-203, Tivo Bolt...). This is what I gave up my Marantz NR1508 A/V receiver and Dali Motif LCR speakers for? I want to go wireless 5.1 speakers (or at least one cable), but this is not what I had in mind when I made my purchase. I'm tired of all the cables, wires, power cords, and heavy, heat generating equipment, but not at the expense of sound. Not having HD audio support was a bad decision. What were they thinking. It should have had that and at least one HDMI input. When SONOS updates support for those audio formats then I will give it 5 stars. But we'll see,... or hear.
Cons: No HD Audio Support
Love it, I purchased this unit for my summer residence. Easy to use and the sound is excellent. Purchased the docking station / tv base which enhances the the interface with my tv.
Pros: Easy of use & sound quality
Great soundbar with features you cant find in other units
Very easy to set up and program. While the sound is great, to really get the full effect the volume needs to be a little higher than we're used to (we are not sound geeks). Bought a refurb. unit and it was in like new condition. Definitely worth the extra savings. Finally, I bought the mount but think it could have been mounted directly on wall without the need for the mount.
This is a great addition to the home theater experience. I previously had a 5.1 surround sound setup, but the receiver, wires, and speakers were messy and ugly. My wall mounted TV and soundbar provides a much cleaner look, and it sounds great with the SONOS sub.
You can't beat the way Sonos products work for complete home sound. The Playbar was an awesome compliment to my living room TV.
Pros: Great sound, great features.
Cons: Had to raise my tv to use the Playbar on my entertainment center. The Playbar covered part of my tv using it that way.
the sound is a bit thin but I think overall the product is very good.
Pros: good not great sound. If you have other sonos speakers it fits with them well
Cons: accuracy of sound is NOT reflected in the price
Blown away by this sound bar, it really doesn't get any better
Overall, the Playbar sounds great. It puts out more Bass than I expexted and has a wide soundfield. It sounds a little better with music but dialogue is crystal clear for tv. It's super easy to set up and use and integrates very well with my Play:5 and Play:1.
Pros: Convenient, easy to set up, sounds great.
Cons: None so far.
My SONOS set up is the playbar, sub, and 2 play 1 surrounds. My review is biased toward what the system is advertised to be which seems mostly accurate. It is a playbar designed for home theater that is a huge improvement on TV audio and also does pretty well with music. Is it better sound quality than you would get with a similar priced standard wired set up ? - no. More on that later. Is it extremely convenient and an easy way to add audio to rooms in spaces that are not wired for sound?- yes. It is a trade of sound quality for convenience and visual aesthetics. It is very strong at the high and low end with sub. It is noticeably weak in the mid range which also makes for an awkward accentuation of the strengths with certain types of music and certain instruments. As always it is a matter of listening preference and the types of music you love the most. Anything can do relatively well at rock and roll and SONOS is no exception. Other areas are not so great. Acoustic guitar sounds airy. Certain piano sounds flat ( and not because flat notes are being played). Drums have accentuated cymbals and bass and miss on the tom toms. Horns actually sound quite good. What is my basis of comparison?: A different series that Crutchfield doesn't sell, with a MARANTZ receiver- no comparison. A 16 speaker stock Lexus sound system- no comparison. Why did I make the trade? I live in a small condo and since I moved in I have not been able to properly set up my wired
Pros: Convenience Visual Aesthetics Space No wires
Cons: Not for audiophile music listeners.
The Sonos play bar was my second attempt at installing a sound bar with my new TV. I started with a Martin Logan; sound-wise it's a little better than the Sonos, but by itself it didn't give me the surround sound experience that I was looking for. I exchanged it for the Sonos play bar. Combined with my two Sonos Play:1 satellites and a subwoofer, I have the home theater experience that I've been looking for.
Pros: Good sound. Easy to set up
Cons: None that I can think of.
Very easy set up and great sound. I was expecting a little more range as the mids and lows aren't overly strong but the voices and highs are crisp and clear. Looking forward to adding a sub to hear more in the low/mid end range.
Pros: Set up and control
Cons: Leaves a little to be desired on the low/mid range.
Sounds great, incredible easy to install
Good sound suitable for serious music listening. Very easy setup. Can be placed on cabinet or wall. Very pleased with it.
Quality sound bar! The Sonos software and audio content is quite expansive... the software is a big part of this product that many may not realize when shopping.
Pros: Software and content. Integrates easy with add-on components, subs, etc.
Easy to set up, sounds AWESOME, looks great , and very pleased so far. Really happy I spent extra $$$ for this and the quality shines through in the sound produced
Pros: Easy set up through wifi
Cons: High price but you get what you pay for
Very pleased. Simple set up. Sounds AWESOME- couldn't be happier so far
This is a great sound bar. A little expensive but worth every penny!
This thing is amazing! The sound quality is amazing, and it is so easy to switch between TV sound and music. Love it!
This product fills even a large room with crystal clear sound & a quality experience.
Simple to set up. Easy to use. Big improvement from sound on tv for watching the tube and really huge improvement for music. Only issue is the quirk where you can not see the volume bars on screen any longer. ...and the steep price, but I knew that before I ordered it....
Very happy with this purchase, this Sonos Playbar replaced a Polk Audio Playbar and I couldn't be happier with the sound produced, especially voices.
Pros: Great sound, easy set-up
This is a great product if you want an easy way to get better sound from your flat, HDTV and music, but if you want real surround sound, this is not for you. The playbar will accept Dolby Digital 5.1 to decode if your HDTV will actually pass through the signal it receives via HDMI or other inputs, using the optical audio out. The playbar will only accept optical input or plain old analog L/R speaker terminals. There to no HDMI inputs on the bar so as you switch the inputs on your TV, the only audio the bar receives is what it gets from the HDTV. The majority of HDTV's from pre-2016 DO NOT pass through bitstream, or "surround sound" to the optical audio output from the HDTV. The TV's "dumb down" what is receives to PCM or plain old stereo output to the optical output. Also, Sonos WILL NOT decode DTSHD from so many Blu-Ray discs so even if you get a bitstream passage to the playbar, you will hear nothing. Not what I would call a top notch item for home theater fans. There are streaming services to get music and it will play from items on your pad or phone for music, but for actual film watching, no worth it.
Pros: Easy to set up, sounds great with proper input. Way better than regular HDTV audio sound
Cons: Too pricy for what you get, not for true "Home Theater"
I mounted this PLAYBAR below my TV in a newly finish basement and was very impressed with the quality, sound, and ease of installation. The crisp, clean sounded really enhances our game-day and movie watching experience. I'm looking into also purchasing the Subwoofer and 2 PLAY1s for true surround sound. I'm so captivated by the SONOS sound, that I'll never purchase another brand speaker again.
Pros: Captivating Sound, Easy set-up, 5-Stars all around
The TV speakers I had been using made it hard for me to follow dialog. I switched to the playbar and it made a tremendous difference. Then I added the bass station and it became a great package -- fantastic for listening to music.
Pros: Great sound when listening to TV. Easy Setup.
Very pleased with my new Sonos sound bar. One true downside is that I will be spending more money on the subwoofer and satellite speakers. Great products.
Love this speaker. Excellent sound and easy to set up.
Just purchased the second Sonos PlayBar. Setup is easy and flawless. The app works simultaneously on the Mac, iPhone and iPad. The sound quality is great. Highly recommended for every TV in the house.
I wanted a wireless and/or Bluetooth system to replace an old, but beautiful sounding, heavily wired Bose 3.2.1 system that I had for nearly 10 years. Since the last time I hooked up any audio was nearly 10 years ago, no one was more surprised than I was when all I had to do was connect that skinny little optical cable to my TV and it worked. Like a charm. Beautiful sound, and we paired it with the Sonos wireless sub-woofer. It's really quite fun to walk around the living room waving my iPad around in some in some kind of modern dance for the auto-tune function. The sound is great and I'm very, very happy the Crutchfield team educated me about the current state of hi-fi and wifi so I could get the right system for me. It's nice to come into the 21st century!
This is a great playbar but get the subwoofer with it trust me
Pros: Solid, good sound, looks good
Cons: A bit pricy and it really needs the sub to make a great sound experience
Sonos design and quality can't be beat. I admit that sometimes my hearing of spoken words, especially whispers, was not always clear. NO more! Unit looks great in my room. I placed it on the top of my furniture using the flexson enclosure (available from Crutchfield). Wall mounting didn't work for me. Looks great and elevates the TV to provide room for the play bar without covering the bottom of the picture . Looks clean and sharp. Very happy with my purchase.
Great sound, easy set up! This is my first Sonos product with a boost and 2 play 3's. I ordered the sub but it's on back order and I'm glad it is. I don't need the sub with this sound. I'm going to switch it out for another play 5 or 3. My tv never sounded so good. It's weird with the better sound the tv picture even looks better! I had a Polk sound bar and this is far superior, grant it it was a couple of hundred dollars cheaper. The packaging is very thoughtful. Everything arrived well packed. Thank you crutchfield for helping through my purchase.
Pros: Easy set up, great sound
Cons: A bit large but I bought the flexscon tv stand and I'm getting used to it.
Great sound. Was actually fun to set up the true sound feature.
Love my Sonos
Pros: Easy set up
Love it! Very easy setup.
Amazing soundbar! It absolutely crushes the bose soundtouch300. Deep beautiful sound fills the room from the tv or streamed audio.
Easy to setup. great sound.
Love the Sonos sound bar! sounds awesome with the Sonos SUB . will be adding son's speakers later. but it really sounds great without.
Pros: sleek and easy to connect
4/5 stars; Only reasons I didn't give it 5 stars was...A) it took a phone call to sink up my remote to the sound bar itself and B) the cost...its $650 bucks! Way more than close competitors prices. Other than that, it was easy to mount under my 65 inch TV and the sound is terrific. I love that you can easily switch from TV sound to music on my Amazon music. Full disclosure...I've only owned this sound bar approx. 3 weeks so I'm hoping I'll have plenty of great years with this thing.
Pros: Sound quality Ease of setup
Cons: Cost Ease of setup ( you have to have correct remote)
it really is easy to hook up and it sounds ver good -- get the SUB too
Easy to set up. Only requires optical port and app. Need to keep in mind that it requires internet port.
awesome product...super easy setup...voice clarity is amazing
Pros: everything about it is first rate
This is my third purchase of a Sonos soundbar. This is the best soundbar out there. I have one with every TV.
Pros: I have nothing but positive to say about this soundbar.
Cons: If there is a Con it would be they are expensive. But well worth it.
Pros: Amazing sound, easy setup!
I started my Sonos system with a couple of Play:1's last year. They sounded pretty good for such a small speaker, but they were annoyingly inferior to the sound from my crusty old Bose system in the room next door. Still, the wireless technology is seductive and I decided to take a chance on the Soundbar because I wanted to bring my music system to the TV speakers in another room. I am very impressed by the Soundbar, both in sound and in operation. I got the subwoofer too, so I can't really comment on the Soundbar alone, but the combination is just terrific.
Pros: compact, easy to set up, great sound for music, and part of the Sonos network
Cons: Not terribly flexible in hookup--but sacrificing that flexibility means simpler setup and operation.
Only have it a few days, but I love it. Absolutely love it. There are plenty of reviews about the sound etc, here's some things I couldn't find in the reviews: I wanted.... - A system which would sound great for the TV, and allow wireless (not bluetooth) streaming from phones, ipads, pcs etc. - I didn't need it to shake the house, but I have a large family room with a high ceiling, wanted the TV and Music to sound great. - Google Play or Apple Music in addition to Pandora and Soundcloud. I know you can get a chromecast and plug it into anything, but I wanted to control everything seamlessly from the app - Accept the TV remote for sound - Expand into multi room music when I want to. Sonos pretty much hit everything. I didn't get the subwoofer. Maybe one day, but I have a family and too few opportunities to get to shake the foundations. TV and Music sound great, they fill the room and while it's not a club, music sounds great without the sub. I've been using TV speakers my whole life, listening to the playbar was a similar experience to watching HD the first time. The app is excellent. From setup to playing almost anything, its well put together. Setup took 20 minutes, about half of that was setting up online services. The only minor gripe is my TV can't display a sound level and puts a label up that the sound is switched off when I use the TV remote. There's a work around, but I don't think its worth the effort of switching to a new remote out
Pros: Streams just about anything. Sound is great
I have used a Yamaha YHT-S401BL (soundbar w/ amp & sub) since 2013, and it does the job quite well. That said, I had recently purchased two Sonos Play:1 speakers, and became quite amazed at the sound quality and their capabilities, which led me to purchase the Playbar. Compared to my Yamaha soundbar, the Playbar is enormous and was kind of a pain to mount. The wires are difficult to hide as they are angled upwards, so you can see them ever so slightly when looking down (they are pushed through the wall). The Sonos app is extremely easy to use and setup, and took little effort to sync the Playbar with my existing Play:1s (surround sound). The Playbar uses Toslink, which is a very rare connection on sound systems these days as I would say the majority use HDMI. It never dawned on me to investigate my Samsung 4k TV's capabilities. The reason I say this is because Samsung is one of the few TVs in the market that will not convert sound to Dolby Digital or DTS through the toslink cable. Luckily, you can purchase a Monoprice HDMI switch that can help with this flaw. While this adds an additional step to turn on the systems, it allows you to utilize the full Dolby Digital experience. Overall, the playbar produces excellent sound when configured with Play:1s or Play:3s for surround sound. By itself, I don't think the price is worth it. I love Sonos though, and will stick with its products going forward as I love the wireless capabilities and the Sonos App
Love the PlayBar. Great sound quality, easy to hook up, and shipping from Crutchfield was fast and free.
I love the Sonos ecosystem... Apps are easy and integration is a snap... I have had many systems over the years but these are by far the best...
Pros: Sound and ease of use from movies to music...
Cons: None found as yet
The perfect addition to my 55 inch big screen. Amazing sound quality in one simple to set up solution. I decided to add the Sonos sub to complete the home theater experience. Very impressed with the sound quality. I really appreciate not having wires show everywhere when trying to add a home theater speaker system.
Pros: Great sound quality Easy to set up Appearance
The setup was a brisk! Fantastic sound quality. I can now control the unit anywhere in the house with wifi. It does not drop unlike those Bluetooth enabled wireless speakers. But the sound quality is beyond those small speakers.
Pros: Ease of set up and control
Cons: Only uses optical audio connector.
Great sub. I love the Sonos lineup.
Expensive...but worth it!
The product arrived earlier than estimated which is great. This sound bar has performed wonderful so far. Voices are clear and easy to hear. There are no problems with lag connecting to my other Sonos players. And I love the feature that allows you to program your TV remote to control the volume of the soundbar.
Pros: Voices are clear and easy to understand. Control volume with TV remote Easy set up
Cons: Lack of bass No smarthome integration yet (Google home)
Easy to set up. It replaced a more traditional 5.1 sound systems with a Yamaha amp. My spouse likes it better, I think because it's simpler to use. The sound is good, particular for voices in movies. I have ordered the sub to fill out lower frequencies
Simple set up, phenomenal sounding & the app is great too!
I compared this sound bar to the latest Bose sound bar over and over and at various electronic stores. I am convinced that the Sonos sound bar just edged out the Bose bar. Supered sound with its high and mid ranges. I am totally satisfied and being a Bose fan.
Pros: About the same size as the Bose Sound Bar, supered sound, easy connections
Cons: I can't think of one
Typical Sonos quality and awesome sound. Paired it with the sub and the setup was typical Sonos... simple. As soon as I opened the box I was impressed at even how well it was packaged. Setting it up was as simple as a few clicks in the app and I was good to go. Doubles as a room zone for the rest of my Sonos speakers and doesn't disappoint there either. Sounds great. Wish I had bought it sooner.
Pros: Sound, easy setup.
I had to return due to the fact that it would not work with my play station 3 blu- ray dvd player. It also did not work with about 10% of my Netflix streamed videos. I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a supplied remote - you need an Ipad or android tablet to set up and control the system. Note that I was not interested in purchasing streamed music services just in house audio- DVD & cable content.
I've had a Sony receiver and 5 wired surround sound speakers (replaced a couple of times by newer models) since surround sound came out. I was reluctant to replace that whole system with 3 speakers (Playbar and two Play 1's), but on the advice of the advisor at the Charlottesville store i did. The sound is sigfinicantly better with Sonos, and far simpler - from setup with Sonos app to no wires to distant speakers, no receiver, etc. I like the sound balancing with the app that is definitely better than the old way that was more manual, as the sound balance seems perfect to my ears now.
The PLAYBAR does the job. I plan to integrate it with the Connect:AMP in the near future after I purchase one. I'm optimistic that my existing in wall speakers and sub woofer will sound incredibly well with the PLAYBAR to complete my home theater sound system.
Pros: Easy to set up Great sound
exquisite sound and easy setup. I replace my 10 year old amp with speakers and i save a lot of space and cables issues.
Pros: easy setup, great sound, save you space, cable hassle
Cons: didn't work with and sony bravía tv set, but i guess is a sony problem, not sonos'.
Nice idea and sound is clear but the Playbar should allow us to attach other speakers as mains instead of just rears.
Pros: Easy set up
Cons: Limited application
I purchased the Playbar and sub together and couldn't be happier. I had actually been looking at a Bowers and Wilkins set up but kept hearing about Sonos and finally thought I'd give it a try and if it doesn't work out send it back. Crutchfield wont be getting this back. The sound is great, the set up is easy and I saved $15,000 from the B&W estimate. Next up is 2 5's to finish off the family room then 3's around the house. Outside of serious audiophiles looking for a specific sound I'd say the wired systems are on their deathbed. Btw, I have Tidal and Amazon music services and they sound great and the setup once again is amazing.
Pros: Price, setup, sound, look bass
Cons: I didn't buy this earlier
I bought the Sonos Playbar and also a Sonos Sub. Both were easy to set up and the sound is awesome. I highly recommend this product.
An exceptional piece of technology. We had a surround sound system, but wanted to upgrade to wireless. We did not lose a thing. Combined with the Sonos Sub and two Sonos 3 speakers, this creates crisp sounds and chair shaking bass. A great buy.
Great sound, easy clean install, and works great w the rest of my sonos system. Will look to add subwoofer over the holidays.
Love the look and the sound. I will probably add the subwoofer in the future. The problem and frustration arose from trying to get my Samsung KS8000 tv remote to control the volume of the PLAYBAR. The PLAYBAR is connected to the tv via the optical digital connection. I had to search the SONOS forums repeatedly until I found this workaround: I have a samsung KS8000 and had problems with connecting my sonos play bar. I don't have a cable box and get my tv instead from over the air broadcasts. At first I couldn't pair the remote with the sonos playbar, but eventually figured it out. Here's what I did. - Go to the universal remote feature in the samsung home menu - Add a device - Search for a brand (since Sonos is not on the list) - Type in Sonos and press enter - Agree to the prompts as they come up, even though it doesn't seem like the remote is turning the playbar off/on - Enjoy using your samsung smart remote now to control your playbar! There should be an easier solution for this high tech and expensive product-that's why I can't rate it 5 stars.
Cons: Price and connectivity to Samsung KS8000 remote to control volume.
Love it. Easy to set up and use and great sound.
Excellent product, very easy to set up, great support from Crutchfield.
I bought this, along with the Bose Soundtouch 130. Granted, I did not have the sub with the Sonos, so the comparison may be a little unfair. Nonetheless, we found the Bose offered better clarity for TV and movies. It provided crisp vocals, but also gave ample volume to background noises. For example, in football broadcasts, we could clearly understand the vocals, but the crown noise was pronounced. I liked this. The Sonos seemed more muddled on TV and movies. However, it did seem marginally better for listening to music. I felt that the relative gain on TV and movies of the Bose more than outweighed the gain on music with the Sonos. In the end, I was happy to plug the Bose back in. I should add, I am not a music aficionado, nor a sound expert. Take it for what it's worth! Ultimately, I don't think anyone would really be disappointed with either of these two.
Pros: Excellent sound for music Wireless connectivity (excellent smart phone application)
Cons: Slightly muddled sound on TV and movies (compared to similarly priced products)
Great features and sound
Fantastic!!!!! Functionally perfect with great sound. Very clear.
Pros: Ease of install Great sound Whole house music streaming to other Sonos speakers throughout house.
Cons: - Not cheap but the build justifies cost
What wonderful technology. Super easy and fun to set up. It sounds great.
Pros: I wish I had bought my tvs from them as well.
Totally awesome. Won't be disappointed
Pros: The absolute best of setting up.
Cons: Only setback is not being able to play YouTube music and some of my music apps
I was looking to minimize my home theater footprint and wires and the Sonos Playbar has allowed me to do just that. Installation took all of about 5 minutes. It sounds great (although I've yet to purchase the sub and surrounds) with tv audio and streaming music. It was a little tricky getting the volume controls to work with my LG magic remote but that's been the only glitch.
This is an incredible soundbar to use with Sonos system. I love the ease of connectivity and flexibility to play music and TV through the app. Sometimes my kids are listening to the TV too loud and I can lower it slightly w/o them noticing!
Pros: Flexible, great sound, ease of set up. Whole house connectivity.
Cons: Surround sound can only be done with use of other Sonos. Adding subwoofer makes it and Expensive (but worth it).
Great soundbar which is amazing for a simple set up. Best wireless sound bar and sub set up. The sounds are clear and crisp although the mid lows are a little lacking which some 3's or 5's additional speakers would help out. The set up was a breeze and after installing the Sonos app on my phone it tooka few minutes.
Pros: Quick easy set up with good sound
Cons: Lacks bass so you will need to add the matching sub. Additional speakers needed as the virual surround muddles some of the range but the additional 3's and 5's will help out a lot.
As long as your movies are encoded in dolby 5.1 all is well. You are out of luck if it is encoded in DTS.....would not recommend.
Cons: NO DTS audio supported. Window shop but do not buy.
Easiest setup I've experienced. Sound is great and equalizer lets you easily control sound balance. It connected to my home network in seconds. The app installed on my devices is simple to use. Didn't know anything about Sonos before this purchase except for what I've read, and I'm glad I took a chance!
Pros: Easy setup, intuitive app, no speaker wires
Bought this for mainly for watching TV in our master bedroom and paired it up with a Sonos sub woofer. Clarity of sound is amazing and it sounds like it is coming from different parts of the room. Not quite a surround sound effect, but close. So, I just ordered 2 Play 1s to complete the circle. The sound bar could stand alone, but I read many reviews online that recommended getting at least the subwoofer. It does make a difference and I expect the addition of the Play 1s to make even a bigger difference. Also, the Sonos App is so easy to use - idiot proof. I am electronically challenged and it took me less than 5 minutes to set up the play bar and sub woofer.
Pros: Sound, voice clarity, ease of setup, and ease of use
Cons: Absolutely none
Sonos is great sound and easy to set up on the television
Pros: clear sound;attractive product
I have been a Sonos user for 6 years and I've got many diff Sonos products throughout my home. Because we are installing hardwoods in our family room, I will lose the ability to run speaker wire around the perimeter of my room - which runs my 5.1 Mirage speaker system including a 10? sub in corner). Naturally, the Sonos Playbar, Sub and two Play 1's will be a perfect solution for my room. I decided to get a jump on it and ordered the Playbar first. Installed it last night and it sounds absolutely AMAZING compared to the factory speakers on my 52" SONY Bravia TV. I knew Sonos makes quality speakers but they took things to another level with the Playbar. The quality and build of this speaker is phenomenal. I am still kicking myself for not purchasing it sooner. I installed it on the wall beneath my TV using the wall mount kit (sold separately and VERY reasonably priced). The template that comes with the mount kit is excellent and it makes hanging it a piece of cake. I opted to bury my optical cable and power cord behind the wall so you cannot see either. I was extremely pleased with the set up process and the features (EQ to adjust bass/treble, etc.). I also love the fact that you can switch the Playbar to listen to music (like other Sonos speakers) by just the touch of a button on your controller. I've been a customer of Crutchfield for 18 years & I've purchased all of my Sonos products through them. Their customer service and shipping times are unmatched in the industry.
Pros: Sound quality, aesthetics, ease of use, ease of set up, versatility
Cons: Can't find any cons at this time
Only thing I didn't love about it was setting it up with an LG smart remote. Took a long time to get it done, with help from some bloggers. Got there in the end. Sound is fantastic and the app is decent.
Easy to set up, and sounds great.
I have a play 3 in another room but added the playbar and can't wait to add 2 play 1's for real surround effect. I couldn't stop listening to music this morning through the playbar. This is the only sound bar that I've owned so I don't have anything to compare it to but have been satisfied and like that I can group it with my existing sonos. There is a little delay when switching from tv to music but it's not bad. My tv is from 2010 and is giving me an annoying message 'not available' when I adjust the volume. It's not sonos fault, they said the newer tv remotes give an option to get rid of it or they said a universal remote would rid the message.
Pros: sound ability to connect with existing sonos and play music without tv
Cons: pricey. I think other sound bars have dropped and price but sonos remains insane. If I didn't already have the sonos play 3, I would have chose a cheaper option.
The Playbar sounds great and is very easy to set up. Crystal clear dialog and a nice full sound. The problem I had was with intermittent sound drops of a second or two fairly regularly. After working with Sonos, discovered this is a known issue with Sonos and Samsung SUHD tvs. The Sonos rep sent me a link to a document called "Television Compatibility with the PLAYBAR" which you can find if you go to the Sonos Playbar support area under FAQ and search for it. Their solution is to set the audio output on the Samsung TV to PCM stereo rather than Dolby Digital. Actually, that didn't even solve my problem and why spend all this money on a soundbar and then only feed it PCM Stereo? I believe the issue is with Sonos rather than Samsung as I have since gone to a different soundbar and now have no sound drops. Also, the Playbar is not capable of processing DTS Digital Surround but the Samsung tv can which may be part of the problem. Because the Playbar doesn't have HDMI connections, there is no other way to run the soundbar except as a slave to the TV unless you buy a separate HDMI switch which the Sonos rep suggested as an option. I didn't try that. I ended up returning the Playbar for a soundbar with HDMI switching capability that could process DTS and am quite happy now. Bottom line, get the compatibility document BEFORE purchasing it to see if your TV is listed as having issues. Again, great sound but I wish it had HDMI switching capability and could process DTS.
Pros: Great sounding system. Very easy to set up with your network. I used the Sound Boost. Good controller via your phone or tablet.
Cons: Only connection is via an optical cable. Cannot connect with HDMI. Sound bar cannot process DTS Digital Stereo. I had intermittent sound drops when using with Samsung SUHD tv. Check the "Television Compatibility with the Playbar" document on the Sonos website before purchasing.
I recently ditched my home theater system because I wanted to stream line, neaten everything up and plainly I just got sick of a receiver, wires, multiple remotes, cables, and multiple components. I bought a smart TV and the sound bar. It is perfect. I can hear the TV well, it took less than 5 minutes to set up and 3 days later I bought the Sub. Love that you can use sirius with the app, play whats on your iPhone or Droid, laptop (mac) and iPad. You can get apple music, pandora, spotify too plus more. great purchase and make the room clutter free.
Pros: Good to look at, build quality, packaging, ease of use, options, functionality, set up.
Cons: Maybe a little more midrange would be nice. The sub was a great addition
Love it, it's great
Very easy to set up and the sound is nicely balanced. We live on a pretty busy street and I previously had to constantly adjust the sound. With this the sound stays consistent and I rarely need to make any adjustments. I will say that it definitely needs to the sub to round it out which we will be buying soon. The only real issue I have is a Sonos problem and that is the inability to stream iTunes from iCloud. But we have Apple TV so that's not too big of a deal.
Pros: Easy to set-up Great Sound Great for smaller spaces
Cons: Price Inability to stream iTunes from your iCloud account
What a simple yet powerful piece of audio equipment! This soundbar took my audio to a whole 'nother level in about 10 minutes! Setup was as easy as can be with the app. Adding my music services to the system was easier than falling off a log and more pleasant too! Extremely satisfied with this purchase. You definitely want to add the Sub to this bar. Will purchase a couple of SONOS 1's or 3's soon to get the full surround experience, but just with the sub and this bar you already have awesome sound!
Pros: Sound Quality Ease of Setup Movies and Music sound superb
Cons: Cons, what cons?
Standard soundbar connection (optical audio cable) and easy SONOS app setup. Can use as TV soundbar OR SONOS speaker. Great SONOS feature for all speakers is the ability to group/ungroup multiple speakers. Very Cool stuff!
Pros: Great SONOS feature for all speakers is the ability to group/ungroup multiple speakers.
This is a great product but can have many improvements
I paired it up with the Sonos sub and a couple of the Play speakers. Wow! Easy peasy.
Pros: Easy to set-up, control with HDMI or phone, great sound.
Excellent sound, style, ease of install/setup. I have other SONOS products and this works seamlessly with them. I use it for TV and music. I have no basis of comparison with other mfrs. but I couldn't ask for anything more. SONOS is a great company with excellent technical support.....as is Crutchfield.
I thought that setting up a soundbar in a new room would be ok, but never compare to my 5 speakers in wall & ceiling in my viewing room. Boy were we surprised by the great sound from the PlayBar and SUB.
Pros: Outstanding clarity for movie dialogue and range for music play. Love the ease of connecting my Spotify account and playing music directed by my iPhone.
Cons: Haven't found any problems yet.
Fantastic love this thing.I.use it with my play ones ,very good ...I'm going to order the sub
Pros: Ease of use, installation is clean and neat
I was hesitant to purchase because other quality sound bars are half the price, if not more. I live in an apartment but I know in the future I wanted a wireless sound system and from everything I've heard Sonos is amazing. So I decided to purchase and I don't regret it one bit! This sound bar is amazing! Music sounds incredible and so does everything else coming from the TV...shows, movies, video games, etc. I have not purchased the sub or additional speakers yet and I will wait to purchase until I move into a house. I live in a two bedroom apart, ~1150 sqft and the sound bar has plenty of juice to fill up the living room and kitchen and more. If you are contemplating it...don't...just do it. It's been a couple weeks but so far so good.
Sonos PLAYBAR is expensive but worth the money. The sound is amazing and it looks very nice when you install it on the wall.
Pros: Easy to install and sound amazing
The Playbar is our fourth Sonos product. We have two Play 1's and the connect Amp. Sonos simplicity and sound quality for the price are unsurpassed. Setting up the Playbar was simple as with the other Sonos products we own, simply follow the prompts. We, my wife and I, are thoroughly enjoying them.
Pros: Easy to set-up, programmed cable remote to control Playbar volume -simple, just followed prompts. Great sound clarity.
This is our first product from Sonos. It was very easy to connect and start using. Even though we bought it to go along with our new tv, I find it is enjoyable to listen to background music while relaxing. The sound quality is awesome.
Pros: Easy to setup. Excellent sound quality. The free app has lots of choices for music, talk, or podcasts.
Cons: Too large in height to fit below my tv which sets on a corner cabinet. I had to mount it on a shelf above my tv.
Amazing quality and sound. Well worth the cost
Very easy installation and set-up. Sound quality is great. The wireless connection is rock solid.
Not an audiophile by any means but as anyone, do enjoy great sound through great speakers and the Playbar fits that bill. I am slowly trying to rebuild my 5.1 sound and selected the Sonos Playbar as my first piece. I ordered the wall mount with the Playbar. Installation for both was simple and straight forward. My Playbar is hardwired to my network via Cat6 so I didn't have to run through the wireless setup. Once the Playbar is mounted and connected to the TV, the Sonos software walks you through the setup, couldn't be any easier. The entire experience was great, "bumper to bumper" and highly recommended.
Pros: Easy Installation, easy setup, great features, i.e. night play & voice enhancement & great sound.
Cons: None to-date.
I purchased the Sonos Sound Bar and Sub after trying a Sony 7.1 Channel sound bar. The Sonos set up is superb and 100% worth the month. Easy setup, sounds fantastic, and mounts to the wall really cleanly (don't forget to purchase the additional wall mount kit).
Pros: Sounds fantastic Easy Setup Easy Wall Mount Well Designed
Great speaker, and in combination with play ones, a greeat suround sound.
Pros: Very easy setup, clear sound, tones of available music.
A huge step up from the TV speakers. Very easy to use and setup. Totally worth the money with its music playing capability and smart phone control ability.
Pros: A beautifully designed product.
This is a very good soundbar which they call a playbar.. No doubt it is excellent. The sound is clear and strong. I love the connection to the woofer and Play 1 speakers requiring only a wall plug - no wiring.
Pros: Easy set-up. Great sound. Software exceeded my expectations.
Cons: Pricey! You need Spotify Premium to play it on the playbar. They don't tell you this (or at least I didn't see it) in the promotional material. I use Pandora on it just fine. I haven't tried the other online music systems.
Super easy to configure. Amazing sound.
Purchased a Condo for my 89 & 85 year old in-laws. Needed to upgrade the sound quality while maintaining a very simple approach to turning the TV sets on and off. No amps, no receivers, nothing to complicate the task. After receiving absolutely fantastic support from the Sonos Help Desk in Registering and connecting the Sonos Playbar to the new 75" 4K TV and the Network, we never looked back. Hit the cable remote...on it came, hit the off button...off the system went. No fuss, no muss. Perfect for very mature AV fans, plus they can listen to a large selection of music sources direct through the Sonos. I am in the process of purchasing 3 more Playbars for the remaining TV's. They love the Sonos.
Pros: Very good sound, even without the sub. Easy to use, once it is connected.
Cons: Needed the Help Desk connecting the Soundbar, TV, and Network. The assistance was an A+!!!
Nice easy setup and great addition to my new Samsung TV!
I will review the playbar and sub as a combination, because that's what is needed for optimal performance. This is our 2nd playbar/sub combination coming into the house, the first is located in the kitchen and we have about 2-years experience with it. Simply killer sound. So, when we upgraded the living room TV we of course opted for a 2nd Sonos playbar/sub for the sound. We added two Sound2 speakers from a different room, as the rear speakers in the living room for surround sound. One the set-up was complete (it's easy, we already had a Sonos network in our house) the sound just rocks. The addition of the back speakers was a nice upgrade. The playbar does not satisfy without the subwoofer - buy the pair and you won't be disappointed!!
Pros: Solid build quality, very clear/accurate SQ from the playbar, the sub just blows away the house, voices are exceptionally clear while just watching TV (a big plus considering the quality of today's TV speakers), ability to stream music from a variety of sources.
Cons: None. Sonos products have excellent built/sound quality.
Plain and simple. I looked for a sound bar to pair with my new Samsung JS9000 curved TV that I purchased from Crutchfield and had some concerns about the sound quality given that I previously had Bose Acoustimas 7 series speakers (left, center, right). I was looking to simplify things and not have to deal with the spaghetti connections. While Samsung had a solution that worked with the curved TV, the sound quality wasn't quite what I was used to. Enter the Sonos Playbar. You can tell from my ratings what I think of it. I hope to par it with a set of sonos play one speakers as I found the playbar to be more than adequate to use without the subwoofer although that will likely be on my purchase list next year. What a system. What sound. Clear, robust and I especially like the dialogue enhancement and night time features, which were bonuses and not initially a factor in my purchase decision. But let me say that these features are a bonus. Appreciate the help from Crutchfield tech support in talking me through the initial set-up as I had some initial issues in getting the sound out of the Playbar. But this was an issue with the TV and not with the Playbar and was easily resolved in about 15 minutes. Once hooked up it's been nothing but wonderful. And my wife likes it too, which as the husbands know is a real bonus. I have not heard her once complain about the system.....thank god!!! Spend the money and get the quality and not something that you'll regret later.
Great unit works great but should be priced lower.
We love our new playbar and the quick service from Crutchfield. Super easy to hook up!
Couldn't be happier! Crutchfield is my new "Go to " For online electronics shopping
Pros: Amazing clarity
Great alternative to wired speakers, Good Sound, paired with Sonos Sub woofer and Boost. Would have given it a 5 had instructions for connecting boost been easier to follow for set up.
Pros: Only wire is from tv to sound bar, much improved sound over TV speakers
Cons: Instructions to set up multiple devices with boost could have been clearer
Absolutely amazing. This device sounds like a device the cost thousands of dollars more. Easy to set up, reliable, and it looks good on the wall. Who could ask for more? Actually, I could. And I think Sonos is going to deliver too! Sonosis scheduled to come out with room equalization software for the Play1, Play3, and new Play5. I hope they extended the new fet atures to the Soundbar and Sub, because although the sound great already, with the addition of the new software they might sound even better, making them equal to other, far more expensive Audiofile products.
Pros: Sound, ease of use, looks.
Cons: Would rather have an HDMI input that passes through the video. Or in addition to the Toslink connection.
In terms of quality of build, sound quality, and ease of use/connection - its 5 stars, easy - its Sonos - thats just is what it is - it gets docked a star - b/c its Sonos, they give very limited connection options - specifcally, no regular line in jack, just an optical - which is fine, and works for me - but I'd want all of their products and not just Play5 to give me option of just connecting a 3.5mm... Anyway - specific to playbar - I use it alone, w/o sats or a sub - and I like it a lot...for my purpsoes, never too loud w/ two kids sleeping - it works well - also I use the enhanced speech and night mode so taht I can acutally watch a movie and hear it at night
I have been debating getting a PLAYBAR for a long time. The cost slowed me down but I have to say I am happy with the purchase. The main draw for me is the night mode and speech enhancements. These features together make watching late night movies with sleeping kids in the house enjoyable again.
Pros: great sound
Cons: not the prettiest thing in the world. I wish it had a line in (other than optical)
Love it. Crystal clear. No mumbling here. Big full clear room-filling sound even when you get to sit in front of the return air. Nice.
Pros: They got this right for Bach and Blues, whispering and yelling.
I replaced a lesser brand soundbar with the Sonos Playbar and was blown away by the difference in sound quality. I also had sync problems with DVD and streaming movies that I couldn't correct. Not so with the Sonos. I will be adding to the system when my finances allow.
Pros: Great quality sound and a very buildable system. Being able to control it from my IPad, IPhone IMac or my tv remote.
All told, the sound bar is solid. Setup is a breeze, the app is easy and intuitive, and I was pleased with the sound quality as a TV sound bar. However, I also wanted to use this to stream music through the first floor of our house on Saturday mornings. It became clear very quickly that the bass just was not where you would want it to be, so I had to shell out the money on a Sub and a boost. This was a huge improvement and I am pleased with the product... But I am also $1500 into this thing. I did not shop around and I have to think that there are more economical alternatives out there.
Pros: 1. Good quality. 2. Easy to setup, easy to use. 3. Application is well done.
Cons: 1. $$
Pros: easy to install and use
Sound is great and set up was a breeze. Sounds way better than any other soundbar I have used even without a subwoofer.
Great sound. Easy to connect to TV and Sonos system.
Pros: All around a good product. I like how you can hear my TV through the sound bar and listen to music all in the same room. That option is superior.
Cons: Rather heavy sound bar. Sucks that you need the sound bar to make the system come full circle. But it's hear at last and sounds awesome.
Excellent product. My first Sonos Playbar was about 1 year ago,and I had no hesitation in buying a second. Although it is a bit pricey, It sounds great and is easy to set up. I love being able to control sound throughout house with all of my Sonos products. Sound much of much better quality than the speakers on my 75" Samsung.
Pros: -easy to set up -integrates with other Sonos components (surround and multi-room)
Sonos is the best sound quality and setup is unmatched
Great soundbar and quality is top notch. I went to my local speaker shop and listened to this bar a few times before pulling the trigger. I will tell you that I wasn't impressed with in store demos. I was told once you add the sub to the system it will take the stress away from the bar to produce clearer highs. They had a nice and easy return policy if I didn't like it..... so I bought it. Adding a sub made a world of difference and being able to tweak the eq for my sound preference has kept me from brining it back. Great bar but need the sub to really appreciate it.
Pros: Easy set up Being able to adjust eq for better sound Great build quality Ability to add more components wirelessly
Cons: Can't convert to 5.1 surround unless you add a converter - Octava
I started with 1 PLAY:1, 1 PLAY:5 and a CONNECT so I could use my primary home theater system on the Sonos network. Then I added another PLAY:1 and now a PLAYBAR. Needless to say I love all my Sonos products. Before I bought it I felt $700 was steep for a sound bar but believe me you get what you pay for. I set it up in my game room in less than 10 minutes and I am beyond impressed with the sound quality. Dialogue is clear and consistent. Even at high volumes this sound bar doesn't lose its composure.Setup was a breeze and even without the SUB this thing packs a punch. Buyer beware Sonos products may be addictive!
Pros: Excellent sound quality! Simple to set up! High WAF! (wife approval factor) Feels like a quality product!
Cons: Only has one optical input Non-Removable grill Price, but again you get what you pay for.
Luckily I had already purchased the sub with two play 3's. I feel if I would only have the Playbar I would be disappointed. The clarity of the Playbar is fantastic, but the lack of bass was definitely present. Overall, with the whole system I am blown away, but I definitely recommend the playbar with the sub.
Pros: Clarity. Ease of setup and use.
Cons: Sounds best when paired with sub. Expensive when you consider the price for sub and Playbar.
Must have for newer flat panels. Many of the new thin flat panel TV's give you a great picture, but the sound is lacking. Purchased this sound bar, after looking at a variety of surround sound systems, because of ease of connectivity. Extremely easy to switch from playing music from phone, tablet, or computer, to watching TV and DVD's. Another great feature of this system, is you can purchase everything at once (Playbar, Sub, Play 1), or you can also add on the individual pieces separately, which is great if you already have existing audio products that you want to use.
Pros: Great Sound, simple to connect
Cons: None that I can think of so far.
I added Playbar to an existing system. Took more time to unbox (great, "Apple-like packaging!) than to set up. Note: TV needs optical output. Operation is seamless with rest of system and with the TV. Player syncs with your TV remote so no additional remote needed. Though pricey when compared to soundbars, it is Easy to set up and enables integration with whole-home system. With Sonos, it's easy to spread out the cost of a system by adding one component at a time. If you like the idea of whole home audio and are considering the purchase of a soundbar, I highly recommend stepping up to Sonos Playbar.
Pros: Great sound. Holds up at high volume yet clear at conversational volume. IMO, worth the premium just for the Easy setup, Easy operation and its ability to double as an Easy to operate music player. Add rooms in minutes when budget allows.
Cons: IMO, Playbar needs the Sub (separate component) to get at the thumps. I have not yet bought it, but will review it after I do. Seems pricey when compared to a soundbar, but you are paying for a sophisticated, flexible system component, not a soundbar.
I have recently purchased a play 1, play 3, and playbar. I think I might have had unrealistic expectations of the playbar since I previously had a nice integrated amp with bookshelf speakers running my tv and music. The soundbar is just not as great on a sound level as my old setup. That being said the setup, connections, multi room ability, and overall ease of use are definitely as advertised. In my opinion the pros outweigh the cons for my setup (soundbar with a nice tv in the living room). I would not get this if you are looking for true home theater (get the sonos connect and a full system, maybe with play 1s for the surrounds). Overall I like it and I am keeping it, but of all my other sonos products this is the one that I am least excited about. As a side note, I am most impressed by the play 1.
Pros: - Decent sound (bit upgrade over tv speakers) - Ease of use - Multi room connection (great for sports. Get a play 1 or 3 for the kitchen to not miss out while grabbing a brew) - Enough bass for non rappers
Cons: - Decent sound (not home theater surround grade)
The clarity is really extraordinary it blows my Bose out of the water. The price is the only con I have so far. I only bought the playbar now I have to get the sub, boost and play 3 to complete the package.
Pros: Clarity, Radio Stations, Wireless, Sleek
Cons: Price but you know what they say. Good seafood ain't cheap and cheap seafood ain't good same thing applies here
I'm using the Sonos Playbar in a different configuration than most, who are using it as a fixed mount or in a surround sound configuration. Here in Denver, we get 300 days of sunshine...so we just completed an outdoor covered patio and deck project and I'm using the Playbar to extend the range of my TV speakers. First, let me iterate that this Playbar is not an outdoor speaker. I have a fireplace wall that is covered from the elements to protect it. However, it does a fantastic job of amplifying my TV's sound for watching movies and football games outdoors. Likewise, with it being a Sonos product, I can push music to it for those late night dance parties on our new deck. When combined with my Play5, I also have the ability to host football parties and have the TV audio broadcast into multiple rooms (pretty slick application). Very easy to set up and take down for cold weather days too. Simply unplug the power and optical audio cord.
Pros: Extends the range of your TV speakers, especially in large open spaces our even outdoors (again, not an outdoor speaker). When combined with other Sonos products, you can push your TV audio (football games) to other rooms where Sonos speakers are located.
Cons: None that I can think of yet.
I tried multiple sound bars (Sony HT-XT1, Samsung HW-H750, LG NB4543, Denon DHT-S514) and decided on this one. The Denon was a close second, but it died after a week, plus the Sonos music experience is phenomenal. I thought the rest were lacking. I also purchased up two Play:1's (and a free bridge from Sonos) to use in a 5.0 set up and it really works well for movies. I am using an optical switcher to try to get a true Dolby 5.1 signal to the sound bar instead of a stereo signal. The pseudo surround generated when there is a stereo signal is ok. It's more ambient noise in the rear speakers than anything. When you get a true 5.1 signal to the Playbar it is impressive with movies. For those wondering about if this needs the Sonos Sub, I don't think it does. It has decent bass as it is. I tried the Sub, but sent it back as it overpowered the 16 x 16 room I was using. Without the Sub, I could listen to movies and music all day. Sound quality was great for any music I tried. With the Sub, I found I was lowering the output on the Sub to prevent ear fatigue. Once the Sub level was lowered, I thought I was missing part of the music. For regular TV, the Sub did not kick in much. It was noticeable for movies. I just don't think it was worth the cost.
Pros: Sound quality is great for a variety of TV shows, movies, and music. Unlike other sound bars where you keep having to toggle from "News" mode, to "Cinema" mode, etc. depending upon what you are listening to. Will result in listening to a lot of music in your home.
Cons: Lack of DTS Support Had to buy an optical switch to get a 5.1 signal from directv box and amazon fire TV to playbar as this only has 1 input only 1 input
Love the added sound to the TV...GREAT sound, easy to hook up and love being able to control it from IPhone anywhere in the house!!
Pros: Great sound and easy operation.
This device was easy to set up and made a Huge difference in our movie watching experience.
Wow! What a great sound coming from my TV now. I went with the SONOS sound bar so I could add speakers wireless to it at a later time. The set up was easy even for me. We have played music with that same bold sound. I almost bought my sound bar from a national chain but after talking with the salesman I knew Crutchfield was where I needed to buy my sound bar. The salesman answered all my petty questions and gave me their toll free number to call 24/7 for additional questions. I have also used that as well. I will buy the rest of my speakers from Crutchfield.
Pros: Easy set up and to have someone knowledgeable and available to answer all your question. Great sound!
Cons: No cons
I am pleased with the player. I paid for the install with the TV and was very pleased with Crutchfield's customer service. It did take awhile to set up the speaker but I think that had to do with my wireless network and Comcast having some service outages.
Pros: I love the ability to listen to local radio stations
Cons: Don't have any yet.
Crutchfield, as always, delivers quickly. I downloaded the SONOS app, followed the instructions and in no time flat I was set up. Good sound especially when turned up. Soon I will pair the playbar with my computer stored and Internet play music.
Pros: Good looking instrument. Easy and quick to set up. Good sound.
Cons: Problem 1: I have a problem that I haven't yet diagnosed. Could be an issue concerning the interface with my new Samsung TV. Whether I press up or down on my remote the volume only goes up and can only be corrected (so far) by operating the buttons on the sound bar itself. Hope to get this cleared up soon. Problem 2: appears to be a lag in the sound vs. what I see on TV set. Minor lag but still annoying.
I have been looking for one of the newer "smart" amplifier/speaker integrated systems for some time. I attended the Consumer Electronics Show in 2014 and 2015 and saw many different brands and models and even ordered and tried two of them...they promised Sonos-like sound and capabilities at a lower price. They did not live up to expectations; so I decided to bite the bullet and spring for the Sonos Playbar. First, Crutchfield was awesome in the buying and delivery process (only 3 days to California). From the moment I opened the box, everything was super easy. The apps on my iOS devices and OS X are very well designed and function seamlessly.
Pros: - Sounds quality - Connectivity - Look and design - Simplicty - Sonos apps
Cons: - Pricey - Integration with AppleTV - Amazon Music not well integrated/supported (probably an issue with Amazon, not Sonos)
Good sound, easy installation. This serves the dual purpose of being my TV sound as well as my music system. It suits my purposes well. I rarely sit in one place long enough to care about stereo and bass is not that important to me either, so this addition may complete my house sound system. I do have a Play 3 that I move to wherever I am. The Playbar is not cheap, but it serves my needs perfectly. Receivers, players, and wired speaker systems are all gone now - and not missed.
I think that it's an excellent product but it does lack a strong bass sound. I paired it with 2 Play:1's to create a surround sound. After reading other reviews, it seems like adding a subwoofer is the way to go to raise the sound quality from very good to great. I will probably order the subwoofer tomorrow.
Pros: Wireless versatility. Great companion for my iphoe
Cons: Needs more bass
I had visited a local high fidelity store and after listening to a variety of speaker systems I stumbled across Sonos Playbar. The quality and depth of the sound coming from the Soundbar was impressive without having to wire multiple speakers throughout my house. The sound quality and reputation of Sonos was a plus; however, what sealed the deal was the ability to play or stream your music from your phone or tablet not just having superb TV sound quality for everyday viewing. I did invest in the Subwoofer to complete the sound I was looking for and I could not be any happier. The sound is crisp and the deep tones round out the music experience as if you had your own personal orchestra in your room. It is not inexpensive; however, for the sound quality, practicality, and multipurpose use, you cannot go wrong with this product. I find myself exploring and listening to a variety of music more often.
Pros: Sound quality, ease of installation, multipurpose use (TV or streaming music through WiFi), ability to add on speakers throughout the house without the wiring hassles.
Cons: None...you get what you pay for.
I got this soundbar as my first Sonos device. I was expecting to improve the sound of my television (Samsung HU8500 series) but I am experiencing pretty much the same sound at the most common volume levels. If I turn it up louder than average, it does sound better than the TV, but I almost never listen to TV at that volume. A big part of the problem may be the lack of bass. There is the paranoid consumer side of me that says they did this on purpose so you buy a more expensive sub woofer from them.
Pros: Easy set up, great software
Cons: Does not sound better than the TV, lacks bass, loss of any visual feedback for volume level outside of a Sonos controller
Outstanding quality product ... just as advertised.
Pros: Good quality product .... and the entire experience is positive, from the packaging, the set-up, the configuration and the ease of use.
amazing product Glad I did NOT buy Bose
Pros: great product
Cons: Basic hi-fi connection knowledge helps.
very easy to install and use. So far quite pleased with Sonos soundbar sales person was very helpful ... So far only soundbar, in future plan to expand system with Sonos speakers. Highly recommend Sonos to others. Will refer friends to Crutchfield
Pros: overall excellent; easy to install and use
Cons: so far none
Great addition to my Samsung 8000. The improvement in the audio is tremendous. I completed the set-up very quickly to include programming my tv remote.
Pros: Ease of set-up Sound quality
Ordering was easy. Delivery was on time. Setup was simple. We were looking for the capability of improving our tv sound and for a system that could play music throughout the house. This product delivered on both desires. I would recommend for anyone and Crutchfield provides the information needed to make an informed decision when buying. You can find articles on the Crutchfield site that helps you understand the options that are available.
Pros: Great sound. Great look. Easy ordering. Fast delivery. Great price.
Brilliant piece of kit. Not cheap, but of good quality construction, design and with outstanding sound quality.
Pros: Design, appearance, quality, simplicity to set up and control, sound quality.
Cons: None come to mind.
This product is very easy to set up - power, audio input (from TV), and done! The sound is very good.
Pros: Simple set up, good sound.
Cons: Connecting my wireless headphones requires an extra $400 piece of equipment ...
Great Sound , fairly easy to set up; had some compatibility issues with the TV but Sonos Tech support was very helpful
Pros: Great sounds enhancement, relatively small foot print. Great Tech service
Cons: Cost compared to competitive products
Excellent product. The setup was extremely easy and the playbar functions well. It accomplishes the task of projecting sound out into the room rather than to the side, which is what happens from my television. It actually allows us to lower the volume while the kids are sleeping since it projects the sound to where we are actually sitting.
Pros: Easy setup Integrates flawlessly to your cable box/tv remote Good sound Syncs well with external devices for music playback
I was looking for a set up that would have great audio sound and give me the ability to play music wirelessly from my iphone (both important to me) and wouldn't have cables dangling all over the house (important to my wife). So many people recommended the sonos system, and I have not been disappointed. It's incredibly easy to set up, and in 5 minutes you can have great sound filling your house. The Crutchfield people are as helpful as ever in ordering, and it's such a joy to see people who are actually knowledgeable about their products. I think I am also going to add a Sub to get the full benefit of the system, but I have been so so pleased with it now. Highly recommended.
Pros: Wonderful sound, ease of set up, neat (wires to a minimum) system.
Cons: a bit costly, but worth it. Comparable in terms of cost to a Bose, but I personally prefer the sound by far.
I bought my husband the play bar, sub and speakers for Xmas along with various speakers for 3 other rooms in the house. We absolutely love the play bar and the whole system. The system is extremely easy to set up and operate from the Sonos App and we love having whatever music we want playing throughout the whole house. The only problem we had was that the playbar could not be connected directly to our TV because the TV is an older Sony model. We did a search for the problem and Sonos tech support had already responded with a fix for other customers who had the same problem so the problem was solved in no time! Before buying this system I read another review that said Sonos had completely changed the way the person listened to music and now that we have it I completely agree!
Pros: Ease of installation, quality
Makes the sound on my TV much clearer especially spoken words. Music is great too!
Pros: Easy set up. Even I could do it myself.
Cons: Wish there was better instructions for adding other Sonos products.
Very Happy with the quality of Sonos Products. I am enjoying this sound bar. I am currently using it without the sub so I am looking forward to adding that at a later date. Great styling and great function make for a winner.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: a bit expensive
Awesome sound, cool ability to control with phone or app. Looks awesome too!
Pros: Highly recommend!!!!!
Cons: Nope. None.
A great choice for a soundbar, as it can be controlled via software on your smartphone using WIFI. Can add other speakers for other areas of house
Great product sounds very good
Pros: Easy setup
Very solid product. High quality sound and the app is incredible.
Pros: Quality of sound and nice look as well.
Cons: Low volume even when turned all the way up.
Did a lot of research on wireless surround systems before I chose Sonos (over Denon, Definitive Tech, Polk). So glad that I did. Went the entire 5.1 setup with the Playbar, Sub, and two Play:1. Setup of each speaker was easy-peezy. Wish there were more controls to fine-tune the surround sound, but can't complain about the sound I'm getting. Everyone complains about the lack of inputs into the Playbar, but I bought a simple HDMI switch with optical audio out, and I connect that switch audio out to the playbar and the switch HDMI out to the TV. So whatever source I select on the switch, I get 5.1 Dolby Digital to the playbar. Can't believe how good it sounds, and I previously had a 7.1 system using Pioneer A/V receiver to Polk in-wall speakers. The room I've got it setup in is pretty big, 22'x25' with 12 ft ceilings, and the Sonos sytem still fills the entire room with sound. I have the Playbar hard-wired to my network, and I haven't had any wifi drops like others have reported. The controller app added my entire music library from my pc with no issue, and Pandora setup was simple. I like this system so much that I'm going to start purchasing other players for the other rooms.
Pros: Sound awesome, looks great, very easy setup
Cons: lack of controls to fine-tune the surround sound
This is an amazing sound bar with impeccable clarity and sound. This addition to my bedroom made the difference in every way.
Pros: Sound Quality, Works with TV and audio zone. Easy to set up,
Cons: I dare you to find something wrong.
Sound quality is excellent. If you want a clean setup (minimal wires, receivers, speakers, etc) this is a great option. I have a huge room and the single sound bar fills the entire room with sound. I have coupled the sound bar with a Sonos subwoofer and couldn't be happier. No messy wires - I can place the sub in an entirely other are of the room and don't need to be bothered with running speaker wires. The bass can be excessive at times so I actually have to turn down the EQ to avoid bothering my neighbors. Being an audio geek I was skeptical that a single sound bar and sub could sound as good as people described. I'm so happy with the products I'm going to order a set of Play:3 speakers to make a 5.1 surround. The Sonos android/iPhone apps work very well. One issue with the application is you can only associate a single music service account with your Sonos system. For example, my wife and I both have Spotify accounts and we can only use one of them. So we've just resorted to using my Pandora, Spotify, etc accounts. I've been told future software updates will accommodate multiple accounts. If you're considering Sonos, you'll be very pleased with the ease of use and quality of sound. If you already own Sonos stuff, then you know how good it is.
Pros: Sound quality Ease of setup Simple/clean wiring
Sounds great and easy to connect to my TV - would give it a 5 star rating but the instruction manual is a little shy on operating instructions.
Pros: Ease of connection
Cons: Limited operating instructions in manual
I'm a first time Sonos user. I was a little skeptical because I had a Marantz surround sound system prior to Sonos. But I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with the sound.
Pros: I love the ability to control the volume on each of your Sonos speakers from your phone.
Cons: Little pricey, but worth it.
I'm new to sonos, and in love with it. This soundbar is simply amazing. Before buying it, i tried a cheap samsung, and realized that i got what i paid for. The sonos, while being much larger, sounds amazing, and integrates with my sonos setup. highly recommended. Make sure to buy the wall mount bracket if you plan on mounting it. Also, if you'll be mounting it above your TV (as i did), you may want to get longer power/optical cables.
Pros: Sound quality is great. Setup is a breeze. wife-proof.
Cons: a bit larger than your normal sound bar, so make sure it will fit nicely. included cables are only 6' which wasn't long enough for me. i bought a 10' fiber cable, and had to cut the jacketing off to get it to bend tight enough as to not show once the speaker was mounted. also bought a 10' power cable, and while it should have fit in the sonos, i had to notch out the plug a bit and gettig it to fit snugly was a challenge, as sonos' connector is slightly non-standard.
I was looking at adding an out of the box home theater surround system because I didn't feel a large speakers in wall system was warranted. I had been looking at the Bose sound bar but when my TV/Home Theater installer told me about the Sonos being a cheaper (to start) alternative I decided to research the products and the company. Everything I read was exactly what I was looking for, wireless for mobile devices, sleek look, powerful sounds (eventually will add recommended Sonos subwoofer for added bass). I am very happy with both the looks and more importantly the functionality of the Playbar. The best option is to be able add wireless surround sound speakers to further enhance the listening experience. With the Sonos Bridge you create a HiFi system which allows you to take the wireless speakers to other rooms if you want to listen to music from your mobile device on a speaker. The mobile app to set up the system is so simple and has you up and running within minutes. If you have a Samsung Smart TV and are getting a message on the screen about wireless speakers google how to remove the message and on Sonos website it has each cable company listed and what you have to do using your cable remote to remove the message from ever popping up again. When I called and asked Crutchfield tech support they were unaware of how to fix it, when I discovered it on Sonos website I called Crutchfield back to give them the web address for the fix. Great purchase, highly recommend
Pros: Good sound, easy set up, overall functionality when it comes to being to add additional Sonos speakers. Good company that was founded by smart technical folks.
Cons: Subwoofer is needed to add more depth/bass to the sound. Over time after adding additional speakers it comes out to being more expensive than most other systems but that is because of the quality and wireless functionality.
New house wasn't practical for my 5.1. Was skeptical. Sound quality exceeded my expectation. I have bought from crutchfield four time over the last decade and will buy from again. Playbar is not as loud or clear as a nice Polk, Paradigm, or def tec system, but it wasn't meant to be. I may even say there is a diminishing return that you get by spending more. I did buy the sonos sub which was a just for me cause I like some bass. Love the sonos app to control. Very user friendly.
Pros: User friendly. Good clarity and semi loud volume. Lots of control from the sonos app.
Cons: Wish it had Bluetooth, but since it has the full control app, I'm ok without it. On the pricey side for a bar and sub. I think it should be $200 less, but truth be told l, I'd actually pay 200 more.
Bought the Sonos PlayBar and the wireless subwoofer plus two Sonos 1 units to augment my Samsung 65" LED TV based on the positive reviews, although I was skeptical of the price - at first. My Crutchfield advisor steered me toward this unit after I explained my needs and wants, and his advice was spot on. All was well packed, and arrived in short order at my new home. Once my wi-fi was installed, setting up the system was a breeze. Using the Sonos desktop application on my iMac, I was guided through the set-up one step at a time, while the system's internal wi-fi network did a "handshake" with my home's wi-fi system. It even helped me set up the Sonos bridge to my modem - a seamless proposition. Once each step in the process is complete, the software guides you to the next.....and so on. Couldn't be much easier or idiot-proof. Even if you are challenged by technology, you should have no problem with this system. Install the app, follow the prompts, and you'll be enjoying music and movies in short order. You probably want to know how it sounds, too, right ? Well, all I can say is this is - hands down - the best I've ever heard. The Sonos One surround speakers and the wireless subwoofer compliment the play-bar nicely, and can be tweaked in any number of different ways according to your preferences. the SONOS team delivered a home run with this system. Just buy it - Crutchfield makes it easy.
Pros: One optical audio connection to my TV, plug-n-play simplicity. Wireless capability is a big plus, as is streaming music from my Apple desktop via iHeart radio, iTunes, Pandora, etc.....it's all good. My pool parties will never be same again. Can add speakers to other rooms for multi-room jams - TV in one room, music in another part of the home. It's just awesome.
Cons: Just wish SONOS would come out with an all-weather unit so I could stream music out to my pool & patio area !
Outstanding sound from a fairly small unit. This unit replaced a high-end center channel and bookshelf speakers and delivers better, clearer sound with virtually no wires. It is also very easy for family members to control since it syncs to the TV volume control. I struggled with the decision of the Bose SL1 unit vs. the Sonos playbar, but I am pleased with my decision.
Pros: Simple, virtually no wires, easy set-up, great sound.
Cons: Don't let the price scare you away.
I have tried out many sound bars and not been satisfied with any of them and was just about to give up on sound bars until I came across this one. This is a truly amazing sound bar not enough can be said VERY easy to setup and the sound quality is incredible. I was a little hesitant about the price but anything worth having comes at price. 100% worth the money!!! Would recommend this product to anyone!!
Pros: Easy to setup and sounds amazing!
I have gone through several sounbars in the past year and have not been satisfied with any of them. I listened to the Sonos at a local electronics store and decided to order from Crutcfield and give it a try. I have to admit that if you didnt see the soundbar you would think you were listening to a full surround system; it sounds that good! It would be nice to have a few choices to connect to the tv but the wireless connection worked flawlessly. I would recommend adding the sub as I did to bring that added punch when you need it. Overall. it is a bit pricey when you add the sub but well worth it. I also tried the Bose soundbar which you cannot connect to your network, and the Sonos definitely out performed it in sound quality and features.
Pros: Easy set-up and unbelievable sound from a soundbar. Wide range of wireless configurations.
Cons: Limited wired connections.
I purchased the Sonos Playbar for many reasons and have not yet been let down by any of them. I replaced a 5.1 surround system with this one device and barring a few intense movie action scenes, where a subwoofer and surround speakers really shine, I have had a much better TV watching experience. Because I do not have an Ethernet connection run to my living room, I also purchased the Sonos Bridge which made connecting the Playbar to my wireless network a breeze.
Pros: Amazing sound Simple step by step setup Upgradeability Plethora of features
Cons: A bit heavy on the wallet.
I'm in the process of moving into a house from a downtown apartment. I have a decent surround sound system with a NAD T748 receiver with a complete Bose speaker layout. Since moving into the house I didn't want to have the mess of tangled wires all over the living room and putting them into the walls wasn't a option (plaster walls). So I decided after some research to give the Sonos speakers a try. I first purchased the playbar and 2 Play 1's. It took all of 15 minutes to have them out of the box and playing. They sounded great but they were missing the bass that I was accustom to from my previous set up. I decided to order the Sonos sub, added it to the system made a few adjustments and Wow ! Totally blown away by what this system. I have been a loyal fan of Bose sound systems for a long time ( my younger brother was a engineer for the company) and the Sonos components are top notch as far as quality and sound. Even though you are paying a premium price for each piece I'll tell you now that you will not be disappointed with the quality of sound or the fact that they just look so beautiful. A+++ to Sonos and a wonderful product.
Pros: Easy and fast setup Amazing sound Quality sound and looks
Easy to set up. Excellent sound
I was skeptical at first, but after going through the setup I was impressed, the system looks and sounds great and the system software was really easy to work with. Sonos did a great job with the user interface - it actually took longer for me to extract my old receiver and speaker wires out than to put the Sonos system in. Once that was done, I was able to point it to my Seagate UPNP back up drive which is where I back up my iTunes library and the Sonos was able to use that as a music source. Impressive...
Pros: Easy to set up, sounds great - it's wonderful having a home theater system without having to string wires everywhere...
Cons: Pricey... But after struggling thorough other home theater system setups, this was a breeze and worth it.
Sonos Playbar was easy to set up and has great sound with movies, tv and music. Really happy with this product. Price is a little high but the bottom line is you get what you pay for.
Pros: Easy set up, listening to music from my computer.
Cons: I did not know that once you set this up the Playbar has to be played all the time, even when watching Sprout with my grandsons!
Sound bar sounds great looks good on wall wish it had more connectivity like bluetooth having just the wifi is a limitation.
Pros: sounds good easy setup
Cons: limited integration
It's a good looking, clean installation and performs well. It needs a sub-woofer to fill in the lower registers that it's not really designed to provide but all in all a good choice.
After two tries at trying to make a Polk sound bar, and woofer work, I gave up and asked Chance at Crutchfield what system he might recommend. He called back and advised me to look at a Sonos sound bar, which had 45 very high ratings by satisfied customers. It was just the sound bar, no woofer, but cost $200 more. I thought "Wow. I'm getting less equipment, but it cost more," and now I know why, The Sonos sound bar BY ITSELF (no woofer) is far better sound! If later I want to add a woofer, or a Sonos Play 3, I'm sure it will enhance the sound. But time will tell. Right now I am delighted with our Sonos sound bar by itself! No Polk woofer vibrations that rattle the room and distort the sound, but still ample bass, and I can hear every word said by announcers doing sports without saying to my wife, "back it up, I didn't get what he just said." You get what you pay for!
I have been using a Surround Sound System that runs through a Receiver. Hands down this offers more options, better sound and easiest set up. While a little on the pricy side - it is worth every penny!
Pros: 10X less Wires than a standard system Links to my internal Sonos System so I can now play my TV sound in any room I have a speaker Might not sound like much but if you are having a Super Bowl Party - it is nice to have the sound on the patio as well Easy set up - Plug it in the wall. Plug the cable in your TV and the other end into the playbar. Push the button to link to your Sonos System.
Cons: Have not found any yet
Very easy set up and awesome sound. Also very easy and intuitive to use
Pros: Easy set up and use.
Cons: Can't think of any
I have been very pleased with this speaker so far. I've used it to play tv sound and to play music, and the sound is excellent. It was easy to set up and to use the app to control things.
Pros: Sound quality, ease of use
Cons: Price, not easy to access computer's music library without manually changing firewall settings
This is terrific sound without the aggravation of setting up surround sound. Even better, since I generally want to "shoot the television" this is a critical part of our SONOS music system. On the other hand, I can also play the TV sound anywhere else around my home, which is great for things like GIANTS or YANKEES games.
Love the speaker! Sound quality is very good. The volume capacity is not the best, but it's more than good enough for any living room.
Pros: Easy setup. Wireless remote with phone. Pandora and Spotify integration.
Cons: Volume capacity.
This sound bar is really as easy to set up as everyone says. It literally walks you through the process. I have been using Sonos products for several years now but this is my first experience with the Play system. Considering that sound is transmitted wirelessly (at least for music), the sound quality is amazing. I don't think I could distinguish it from a wired speaker, and I am a trained singer. Even without the sub woofer (which I fully intend to purchase once they are in stock again) tones are rich and full. And I love being able to control my music from my phone or tablet. Yes, the price is on the higher side for its category, but I think what you get for the money makes it a great value.
Pros: Easy set up, incredible sound quality, virtually wireless, flexible controls
Cons: A bit pricey (but competitive)
The Playbar is more expensive than a lot of other soundbars out there, but it's well worth the extra money. As with other Sonos components, the sound quality is quite good. And I really like the ability to stream music, in addition to doing TV sound. We liked our first Playbar so much that we bought a second one.
Pros: Sound quality Build quality Ability to stream music from my network and/or from internet music services Ease of setup
Sonos playbar is a simple set up 1 power cord and a optical cable and your on to great sound ,clean highs , smooth mids and tight bass and if you have other sonos players it will all work together
Pros: Easy install ,great sound! Works with my tv remote
Love the soudn and very easy to setup. I was not aware that the optical cable would not work on TVs from 2007 or prior, so I am only using this for music at the moment. The issue with older TVs has to do with an HDMI port being used at the ssame time at the digital optical cable. Anything newer than 2007 apparently works fine - from what I have read. I will be upgrading the TV and building onto my Sonos system.
Pros: easy set up
Cons: Does not work on 2006 TV.
I believe the playbar was well worth the price. the sound I get from the television and while playing music through the sonos app have been great. The sounds is crisp and clear. I replaced a Bose Cinemate series II 2.1 system, and the playbar definitely sounds better than the two stand alone Bose speakers.
Pros: crisp sound, easily pairs with other Sonos speakers..
Cons: bass is ok...definitely need to upgrade to the sub to get the full experience.
Easy set up and incredible sound it doesn't get much better then this. What would make it better? It is a bit pricey, no DTS support, adding more then ONE optical connection, make sure your television will support full 5.1 or you'll need a optical spliter (more $$) or HDMI connections.
Pros: Easy Set UP Great Sound WIRELESS Expandablility of the system
Cons: $$$ May need optical spliter depending on your Television
The sound bar has made an excellent edition to our entertainment.
Pros: I love that it's wireless. I have hooked up extra pieces and can hear my music no matter where I am in the house.
Cons: I was watching net flix and the soundbar didn't pick it up. I had to use the remote from my tv.
A little expensive, but great improvement to sound quality - very easy to set up - had it up and running in 5 minutes.
Pros: ez setup
The Sonos Playbar integrates well with other Sonos components in the house once you set it up. Otherwise, for the price, I would have bought something less expensive with better sound.
Pros: Esthetically pleasing. Easy to mount. Multiple orientation possibilities. Integrates well with other Sonos components.
Cons: I cannot turn off the speakers on my 2013 Panasonic Smart TV (not too smart). Therefore, I cannot use my TV remote to control the Playbar. Having to use another remote device negates the "plus" of not having an additional remote. The setup process was not easy because I couldn't turn off the internal TV speakers and I fell outside of the setup procedures. Eventually, I figured out that I had to "lie" to progress through the set-up screens. Setup procedures need to be more robust. Expensive.
I was a little hesitant buying a system that required the use of the Internet. No problem at all. Setup was a breeze. I replaced a new polk 9000 soundbar. I was not that I didn't like it but I had issues. the range of the remote (either the supplied one or my cable box) was terrible. My TV is about 18' from my beds headboard. I always had to lean forward to have it operate properly. Crutchfield exchanged it even after I had the polk for almost 3 months. These guys are great! I love the Sonos. It sounds great (better then the polk) and the matching sub I also purchased was good enough. Great product. I will most likely add some speakers a little later on for other rooms.
Pros: Great sound, Easy to setup.
Great enhancement to the TV, particularly when watching a movie at a higher volume. However, I've also added a SUB to the PLAYBAR and the difference is quite marked. The PLAYBAR is very good but the SUB adds another level.
Pros: Takes minutes to set up (physically with cable; software with Droid) and I don't have to crawl around and into a cabinet for speaker cable connections.
This is Sonos best product. The sound is remarkable. It's not just in your face sound it almost appears to redirect the sound in the room. A great solution and easy to install and set up. Absolutely no issues after after 6 months
Pros: Excellent sound, easy install and set up. You get your money's worth
Cons: You will become a sonos addict. I started with the sound bar now I have a play 3 a 5 a connect bridge. Looking to get a couple of play 1s and a sub next. Selling my Bose lifestyle and hundreds of feet of cable
Downsized our residence and wanted upgrade our A/V needs to 21 century with better sound and WIFI content. purchased Playbar for Samsung 48 and 2 Play 3s for background. Set up was easy and I learned how to navigate the web music to provide sound though-out the house. When we furnished a lower level Family room with a 55 inch Samsung we purchased another Playbar. We like the system and would recommend Sonos.
Pros: Upgraded sound from TV and great room to room use
Cons: Some Problems with controlling volume with TV remote
An excellent product, extremely easy to install and wonderful performance - would recommend it in an instant!
Excellent product design, packaging design and amazing sound. Couldn't be happier with the Sonos Playbar. Sound quality is amazing. Super simple to set up and the optical audio line is a great feature. Sonos is the next audio revolution!
Pros: Overall Excellent Product
Cons: None whatsoever!
We love the quality of sound that comes out of this unit. One of us has a hearing problem, and this playbar coupled with two Play One speakers fills in any void. The playbar was so well packaged. We are thoroughly impressed with the quality of our Sonos system.
excellent sound and flexibility
It does what it claims paired it with 2 play ones really enjoy it as stero A me tv surround
Pros: Ease of set up and use
Cons: Play ones have a better sound when used alone
I purchased a play bar for the purpose of having a replacement sound system for my TV with a second [movable] speaker. I am pleased with the product for this purpose. it is a bonus that the system will also stream music from a devise that is connected to it by WiFi.
Pros: Reasonably good sound, multiple uses.
easy to set up and gives out great sound for the samsung
Pros: easy to setup doesn't take up to much space and looks good
We are no strangers to SONOS. We own several PLAY:5 speakers, a PLAY:3, PLAY:1, the SUB, and a CONNECT:AMP. This was a great addition to our whole-home sound system! I love that when you turn on our satellite receiver, it automatically can switch on the PLAYBAR. Or, if you choose, you can watch the picture and play music. Perfect for watching sports while entertaining. Paired with the SUB it sounds fantastic. We do not currently have any speakers used to complete the surround setup. We'd like to add two PLAY:1 speakers down the road. Over all, another fantastic, easy to use, wonderfully addictive product by SONOS!
Pros: Easy to set up, integrates seamlessly with other SONOS products, great depth of sound
I did a complete remodel of our living room, new floor, new furniture and of course new A/V system. Our old system was a combination of airplay speakers and speakers running off AirPort Express. I've always loved the easy use of airplay but we had constant problems with the signal falling out. I wanted to go to a bigger system but did not want to go to wired speakers and receiver. I thought I would test out the Sonos with just the play bar to see how I liked it and could add the sub later. It turns out the sub has been sold out for quite a while but I don't think we even need it. The play bar alone is more than enough for our setup. I did however add two play one speakers for surround sound and couldn't be happier.
Pros: Incredible sound quality Heavy good quality not cheap plastic Sonos iPad and iPhone apps are sweet Supports lots of music services. We use iTunes, spotify, slacker and xm
Cons: Expensive but a great value for what it does
So far so good. Super easy set up, great sound and looks great.
I was hesitant to buy the SonosPlaybar because of the price. After reading the reviews I went for it. Easy setup, sounds great and added 2 play3s to make a full surroundsound system. It's an awesome system.
Pros: Easy setup Work with my other Sonos components Sounds awesome
I am extremely pleased with this product! I end up pairing it with a sonos sub to extend the low range but it sounds really good, even without the sonos sub. Not a huge fan of the single digital input via optical connection beings that my tv doesn't pass Dolby digital from hdmi inputs to its optical output. It jus means I had to incorporate a optical switch into my setup to obtain Dolby from my sources. I do love to sound of the bar though. Music sounds good. The sonos app is a really nice tool to bring all sorts of music to the play bar.
Pros: Sound, size, look. Sonos app!
Cons: Single optical input.
The Sonos Playbar is absolutely AWESOME! If you already own Sonos components, it's a no brainer to add the Playbar. If you don't own any Sonos components, buy the Playbar! Once you hear the quality and experience how easy it is to use a Sonos component, get ready to start buying all the other Sonos products. I will be buying the Sonos Sub as well to compliment the Playbar. From music to movies, the Playbar has not disappointed!
Pros: Sound quality Fit & Finish Ease of use Integration with other Sonos products
Recently removed my home theater consisting of Definitive Technology speakers and an Epik Empire Subwoofer. Decided to go the Sonos route. Purchased a Sonos Amp and Play 5, was extremely happy, so I purchased the Playbar and Sub. I tried different positions and ended up placing the sub under my chair, with no noticeable sound difference. I'm blown away by the sound quality of the playbar and sub. This was just what I needed. The playbar is very clear and I really like the voice enhancement and night modes.
I read all the reviews and the simplicity of the wireless system all seemed too good to be true. NOT in the least. Very easy to connect. Sound without the sub is amazing. I came so close to buying the B&W play bar which is great but this is a better value for your money. I use MOG mainly along with iTunes and some radio. All sound great, especially MOG. Since this purchase with the bridge I have ordered the sub and another play bar. Also plan to add a couple of play 3's.
Pros: Simple, quality, options, ZZ Ward and Jessie J never sounded better.
Cons: My Internet never a goes out and that would be the only negative I can think of.
Installed very easy below tv. No problems. Looks awesome amd sounds great!
Pros: Amazing sound, easy to install.
Cons: None that I am aware of at this time.
Once you have a sonos instrument, you cannot help having another one, two or even more....I had a Play5 before I purchased this Playbar and I like the convenience of the controlling the music by using either my phone or my mac. This Playbar tough, is amazing! It sounds really great and it enhances the movie experience from my TV! I recommended to buy the Sonos SUB as well if you are getting this since there is no subwoofer from this bar. Good buy
Pros: Good look, easy installation, sounds crisp and clear.
Just recently started to refit the house with new theater equipment and the Playbar was the first purchase out of many. I also bought a Sonos Bridge for the wireless functionality. Attached the Playbar directly to my new Sharp 60" using the included fiber cable and the sound is outstanding! I do plan purchasing other Sonos component such as the sub woofer and two sets of Sonos speakers.
Pros: It sounds great! Can use the TV remote to control the volume; easy set up with included instructions.
Cons: Limited connections on the back panel.
One of the best Soundbar around in the market. The ease of setup is amazing.
Pros: Great Sound Easy Setup
Purchased the Playbar because I didn't care to have a bunch of wires to deal with so glad I went this route. With my purchase of the SUB, I have movie theatre like sound that doesn't take up a lot of space.
Pros: Theatre like sound with very little space required.
Cons: Pricey but "you get what you pay for!"
It took less than 30 minutes to unpack and hook up the playbar to my TV. The installation was seamless. After hooking the playbar to the TV and power, I simply connected it to my Sonos network like any other Sonos device. It was quickly discovered by my controller and then the controller walked me through the installation. The volume is controlled by my TV remote, so using the playbar with the TV requires no extra steps. My playbar also works with an Xbox and Bluray player that I have plugged into the TV via HDMI. I highly recommend this product, especially if you already have a Sonos network at your house.
Pros: Easy to install and set up. Does not require another remote. Controlled with your TV remote.
Cons: Not really a con, but I think the playbar is long.
Let's put it this way....our doxie never barked before when we had the 55" tv on, but now she thinks she is THERE with the real life sounds coming from our Sonos player. She runs & hides when a movie with booms, earthquakes, etc. is on. While we LOVE our Sonos, our doxie feels "not so much" love.......it is very realistic sounding acoustics......
Once again, SONOS knocks it out of the park. Together with my Play 5, my whole downstairs is "unwired" for sound.
I have been without a soundbar for a year and had not found an adequate replacement. When I saw the visually appealing Sonos PLAYBAR I decided take the plunge, as I already own a wireless Sonos whole house audio system. It was incredibly easy to set up and the 9-speaker sound is terrific. Just ordered a Sonos SUB to augment the system.
Pros: Great sound. Attractive, yet subdued. Smart, easy setup for a wireless system.
Cons: A little pricey, but great Sonos quality.
The Sonos PlayBar is one of the easiest things to set up.
Pros: Sounds is much better than most TVs and the set up is straightforward, fast, and easy.
What a well considered device. Easy to install with your TV, provided you have optical outputs. Guides you through the remote setup, has IR receiver and transmitters. Oh, and the sound is great with good source material. I had it attached to my network and TV in about 5 minutes, up and running with Pandora in about 6.
Pros: Quick installation, great sound for my TV, easy optical connection, remote still works. Very pleased.
Cons: Not a lot I can see.

Soundbar Speaker: Complement your flat-panel television with the Sonos PlayBar soundbar speaker for rich, room-filling HiFi sound. The Sonos PlayBar is simple to setup, control, and expand. It requires only two cable connections - a power cord & optical digital audio cable. The PlayBar supports playback of all sources connected to your TV; such as cable/satellite, Blu-ray/DVD player, video game system, etc. The Sonos PlayBar can also wirelessly stream music from your computer, as well as various online music services and Internet Radio. The PlayBar can even sync with other Sonos speakers wirelessly. The unit can be controlled from your TV's remote, or by your Apple iOS device or Android smartphone using the free Sonos App from iTunes or Google Play.
Note: The PlayBar works with all amplified and non-amplified Sonos products (sold separately).
Active 9-Speaker Design: The Sonos PlayBar soundbar speaker features a sophisticated 9-speaker design with six midrange drivers and three tweeters (the left & right tweeters are angled for a wider sound stage). Each speaker is driven by a perfectly matched Class D amplifier. The PlayBar acts as your front left, front right, and center-channel speaker.
Optical Digital Input (Dolby Digital/PCM): The Sonos PlayBar soundbar speaker connects to your television via its optical (toslink) digital input. The unit supports both Dolby Digital (5.1ch) and PCM (2ch) audio signals through its digital input. Make sure to turn your television's speakers off.
Note: The digital optical output terminals of most newer flat-panel TVs only send an audio signal in 5.1ch when receiving Dolby Digital/DTS surround sound from the TV's built-in tuner, network connection, or connected USB device; and will output only 2ch stereo from sources connected to the TV via HDMI, or RCA (like your Blue-ray/DVD player or satellite/cable box).
Trueplay Tuning (for Apple iOS): The layout of a room, and where a speaker is placed, can have a significant impact on the sound that you hear. Trueplay, an auto-tune app within the Sonos App, uses the microphone in your Apple iOS 8.0+ device to measure how sound reflects off walls, furnishings and other surfaces in a room, and then fine tunes the Sonos PlayBar speaker to make sure it sounds great no matter where you've placed it. The Sonos PlayBar speaker already sounds fantastic, but Trueplay brings you even closer to how music should sound. Completing Trueplay tuning for a room takes approximately 3 minutes from start to finish.
Note: Trueplay is currently not compatible with Android.
Equalization (EQ): During the PlayBar setup process you will be guided through its audio calibration process. If desired, you can change the sound settings (bass, treble or loudness) for the Sonos PlayBar. Bass boosts lower frequencies, treble boosts higher frequencies, while loudness boosts both bass and treble to improve the sound at low volume.
Sound Options: The Sonos PlayBar offers various sound settings to customize your listening experience.
TV Auto Play: When TV Auto Play is set to On, TV audio automatically plays through the PlayBar when you turn on your television. If music is playing when the TV is turned on, the music immediately stops and the PlayBar switches to TV audio.
IR Sensor/Repeater: The Sonos PlayBar speaker does not come with a remote, but does offer a built-in IR sensor and IR repeater. You can program your TV's remote control to operate volume up/down of the system. If the PlayBar blocks your TV's IR sensor, the unit's IR repeater allows the remote signal to pass through the PlayBar to your TV.
Wireless 5.1ch Speaker System: Add the Sonos Wireless Subwoofer (616SUB1, sold separately) and a pair of Sonos Play:1(616PlAY1B, sold separately), Sonos Play:3 (616ZPS3B: sold separately), or Sonos Play:5 (616PLAY52B; sold separately) for a wireless 5.1ch surround sound experience. Now you don't have to run wires to a powered sub or rear speakers to enjoy true 5.1ch audio. In conjunction with the Sonos Boost (616BOOST, sold separately), you can even use the Sonos Connect:Amp (616ZP120, sold separately) as a rear amplifier with separate rear speakers; in this configuration you will still need to run wire between the rear speakers and the Connect:Amp.
Mounting Options: The PlayBar can sit above or beneath your flat-panel TV on a shelf, or mounted on a wall using optional wall mount bracket (616PBWLMNT, sold separately). When mounting the speaker below a television, allow 1" of clearance between the PlayBar and the TV. When mounting the speaker above a television, allow 2" of clearance between the PlayBar and the TV. Do not place the PlayBar in a cabinet or on a walled shelf. Both ends of the soundbar speaker should be at least 1' from a wall or other obstruction.
Sonos Multiroom Eco-System: The Playbar is part of the Sonos wireless multiroom music eco-system consisting of a family of wireless network speakers, players, and amplifiers. Start with the Playbar soundbar speaker and add other Sonos products- including the PLAY:1, PLAY:3, or PLAY:5 wireless speakers; the Connect:Amp zone player (ZP120), and the Connect zone player (ZP90). With multiple zones, you can play the same or different songs in different rooms of your home. Up to 32 Sonos devices can be connected in one system.
Two Ways to Connect Wirelessly: Sonos brings great sounding music wirelessly to any room in your house, without a big wiring project through SonosNet or WiFi.
- You cannot connect the Sonos system via both the SonosNet proprietary mesh network and WiFi; you will need to choose one. Sonos recommends using its proprietary SonosNet wireless mesh network over WiFi when applicable.
- The Sonos proprietary mesh network will provide a more secure wireless connection with fewer interruptions for optimum performance.
- WiFi is subject to greater interference from other WiFi and 2.4GHz devices on your network. WiFi connectivity is not compatible with 5GHz (you will have to use the Sonos wireless mesh network in this case).
Ethernet Port (10/100 Mbps): In addition to built-in WiFi, the Sonos Playbar is equipped with one Ethernet port (10/100 Mbps). Use it to wire directly to your router to operate Sonos if WiFi is unstable, or use the Ethernet port to provide Internet accessibility to non-wireless devices if you're using a SonosNET Boost setup.
Music Streaming Services: Sonos gives you access to unlimited music; such as your iTunes library, your favorite music services, and thousands of Internet radio stations, shows, and podcasts.
Sonos Controller App: Sonos allows you to control its audio setup, playback functions, and search features through the Sonos Controller app for Apple iOS 9.0+ and Android OS 4.3+ devices, or the Sonos Controller software for Windows PC (7-up) and Mac OS X 10.10-up computers. You'll have access to thousands of pre-loaded internet radio stations, a variety of online music services, your iTunes music, and your network music library; all from one control app on your smartphone/tablet or laptop/computer. The app is divided into 5 screens.
Note: The Sonos device, Apple iOS/Android device, Windows PC, and/or Mac computer must be connected to the same wireless network.
Alexa Compatible: Through a free network software update you'll be able to control your Sonos system through any Alexa-enabled device - including the Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Tap, and Echo Show (all sold separately). Using the Amazon Alexa device as you normally would; just say "Alexa" and the name of the Sonos room you want to play a particular music service through when instructing Alexa to play music. Play a song, skip forward and back through playlists, target one room or an existing group of rooms, and adjust volume - all using your voice.
- You will need to search and enable the Sonos skill from the Alexa app on your mobile device or computer.
- Your Sonos equipment and Amazon Alexa-enabled devices must be on the same wireless network.
Home Network Requirements: To access Internet music services, Internet radio, and any digital music stored on your computer or Network-Attached Storage (NAS) device, your home network must meet the following requirements:
Note: Although Sonos is compatible with most networking equipment, some network devices are incompatible. Usually when networking hardware does not work with Sonos, it's because it lacks support for the network protocols that Sonos uses to operate, like UPnP, STP, and SMB/CIFS. Clickhere for a list of networking equipment that is incompatible with Sonos; be aware that the majority of this list is made up of older networking equipment, but may still exist as part of a home network.
Automatic Updates: The Sonos PlayBar supports free automatic software updates so you will always have the newest features and music services to enjoy. Simply register the PlayBar and Sonos will automatically notify you when software updates are available through Sonos Controller app. By simply pressing one button your system updates itself.

If you have committed to the SONOS ecosystem, there is nothing like the PlayBar. And while it has some limitations by itself, paired with a SONOS Sub and 2 Play:1s you have an outstanding home theater system that has extensive streaming music capability. A bit expensive, yes. But the quality and support are there. And ease of installation is unmatched. Highly Recommended[ LeighAnn Dec 14, 2015 ]

Highly rated.[ Jeff Dec 05, 2015 ]
Sounds great for both home theater and music. Easy set up. The only catch is my tv does not output 5.1 on the optical for external sources, but an hdmi switch with arc and optical/coax audio out solved that.[ Aaron Dec 04, 2015 ]
Thanks for your question. For information on comparing two or more models I would recommend reaching out to an Advisor by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat. They will be able to help determine the differences and help you make the best choice for your system and your budget.[ Kenny Jul 13, 2017 ] Staff
I've heard that as well... I have a Vizio set and it was able to pass through the 5.1 audio signal. I chanced it and bought the playbar anyway without knowing because I really liked how it sounded. If you're really considering it, you might want to look up hdmi arc pass through boxes with optical out as a contingency in case it is not working the way you want.[ Reuben Jul 11, 2017 ]
Hi Darryl. I had the same concern when I bought my Sonos Playbar. Some TV do not send a digital Dolby 5.1 signal through digital optical out. I recommend that you check you TV specs. It should be clearly listed. I also recommend you check with Sonos. I have Sony and Samsung TV and it works perfect with Playbar. The LG OLED should support Digital Dolby out. However it's always good to verify it. Also, sometimes the set top box provided by the cable provider has stereo output as default that needs to be changed as well. Good Luck.[ Purvang Jul 11, 2017 ]
I have a 2015 LG that works great with the playbar, (2) play 3, and sub setup via an optical output.[ Josh Jul 11, 2017 ]
Yes, it will work with your wifi. I would recommend the sub with the playbar.[ Thinh Jul 12, 2017 ]
It will work on WiFi just fine, no needed hardwired connection. I use the PLAYBAR, SUB, and 2 PLAY 1s in my setup with no Ethernet hard wire connection, all WiFi.[ Ryan Jul 11, 2017 ]
It must be connected to the WiFi modem. Additional Sonos components connect wirelessly to the playbar.[ Lori Jul 11, 2017 ]
That is to connect a record player directly to the sound bar[ BETTY Jul 21, 2017 ]
The only direct connection between your TV or DVD player (or other device that supports optical connection) is an optical toslink connection. To stream music, you must have a Sonos network in your home. The network will support all their other products - Play 1,3,5 etc. Then get the Sonos app and you can play music anywhere those speakers are located, directly from your mobile devices. Hope this helps -[ Richard Jul 12, 2017 ]
The optical cable is the most efficient means to transmit audio from the TV. You want the fastest connection to avoid audio lag when watching TV; you don't want every show looking as if it was dubbed.[ Ryan Jul 11, 2017 ]
I use mine in a media center cabinet and the sound improves when I pull it forward as far as possible to get the sides of the soundbar away from the enclosure. I am toying with the idea of extending the shelf for more separation.[ Vern Jul 11, 2017 ]
Yes there is. You are looking for speech enhancement. It is in a sub menu[ DAVID May 15, 2017 ]
Yes there is, in the Sonos app (at least on Android, don't know about iOS).[ Clayton May 15, 2017 ]
Location of the bridge only matters if it causes you to lose connection. Test it in the basement and if it works there you are golden[ harold g Apr 29, 2017 ]
It can be located anywhere. It needs to plugged into your router and as long as your within reasonable Wi-Fi range it will be fine. Sonos no longer needs a bridge by the way. I still use mine because that is how it was originally set up. Good luck.[ Peter Apr 29, 2017 ]
No, I don't believe so. My bridge is on the other side of the house from my sound bar. It is next to my router.[ Paul Apr 29, 2017 ]
I have mine next to the router, ticket away out of sight. One floor and several rooms away from bar and sub. Never had a problem.[ brian Apr 29, 2017 ]
The play bar works really well. I like the fact that with sonos you can build your system and add on at any time. First I purchased the play bar then added the sub then the two rear surround speakers. The play bar works as three speakers ( center channel, front right and front left) when complete with the 5.1 system.[ LINDSAY Feb 28, 2017 ]
This is not really a replacement for a center channel. It can replace a center channel and a left and right front speaker. It also can NOT be combined with the rest of our system. This is a powered sound bar that works and sounds amazing. I CAN, however, be used in a 5.1 set up but ONLY using other SONOS products for the subwoofer and the real channel speakers. Amazing system if used to its full capabilities.[ Walter Feb 28, 2017 ]
I don't think it is a 1:1 replacement of a center channel. It is more suitable for someone like me who had a high powered surround sound that was never turned up and wanted a simple system that worked with my other Sonos speakers. It will not compete with a 7.1 or high end 5.2 system[ Benjamin Feb 28, 2017 ]
As long as you have a broadband internet connection, it will support any configuration of Sonos speaker(s). You will need a Sonos Bridge, which acts as the Sonos speakers' connection to your router either wirelessly or through an ethernet connection.[ Robert Dec 01, 2016 ]
HI. I am a Sonos user and love the product. As far as I know there is not any restrictions. You just need to purchase the sonos wireless box that hooks directly to your router and all your sonos products work wirelessly[ Ronald Nov 30, 2016 ]
I recommend using the Sonos mount for the playbar because the Sonos stuff comes in some unique shakes/sizes relative to other speakers. The manufacturer could probably tell you though[ Christopher Feb 26, 2016 ]
I have never tried to play via Bluetooth on SONOS, since I never knew it supported Bluetooth, but if you used Bluetooth, the item connected is normally just functioning as a speaker, not a player, [ Zzyzx Oh Feb 24, 2016 ]
Yes, but youll have to put the playbar in front of the tv stand, and depending on the height of the stand, the playbar may block the bottom of the TV picture. I have a book under my TV Stand to raise the screen up enough to clear the playbar[ BRIAN G Jan 31, 2016 ]
Yes[ DANIEL Jan 29, 2016 ]
see no reason why it can't.[ Gary Jan 29, 2016 ]
Yes, they can both sit on a cabinet. Depending on the depth of the TV base the cabinet should probably be at least 2 feet deep.[ Michael Jan 29, 2016 ]
Depends how bit your TV and your cabinet are, but provided they are sufficiently sized, there is no reason they can't. The sound bar does not have to be mounted, and indeed mine is not.[ PETER Jan 29, 2016 ]
I have a Samsung tv and the sonos sound bar. They both fit on my tv stand fine. I changed my setup now and mounted the tv on the wall and have the sound bar on the tv stand by itself. It's up to you.[ ALAN Jan 29, 2016 ]
Yes[ GEORGE Jan 29, 2016 ]
Yes, that is exactly how mine is set up.[ MARK Jan 29, 2016 ]
Essentially, you pair them in the Sonos software. If you purchased from us, I recommend giving our technical support a call as they can help you through this setup. If it was purchased elsewhere, you can still get our support on setup through one of our paid support packages.[ Paul Jan 02, 2016 ] Staff
I bought the Sonos bass module and love it. Great system addition. Not sure about adding another type of sub; you would probably need to power it with a separate receiver, and you would need the Sonos Connect to integrate all the pieces.[ JAMES A Aug 17, 2015 ]
I am not able to answer this question.[ CRAIG Aug 17, 2015 ]
I'm planning to split the fiber optic audio signal from TV to a sound bar with Play 5's in the rear and component system with 6.1. The end result is a casual theatre sound for everyday and 6.1 for the big action movies.Either setup probably allows internet radio to flow through the soundbar and rear channel speakers when TV is off.[ Charlie Mar 14, 2015 ]
Thank you for your response George. I definitely don't want wired speakers. Looking at other question/answers and product information it seems that everyone is connecting the Playbar to the TV but I was wondering if it is possible to connect it to my AV receiver.[ Chinmay Mar 13, 2015 ]
You don't need wired speakers with the playbar.I use the playbar as my main source of audio and have other Sonos wireless speakers as my secondary audio.[ GEORGE Mar 13, 2015 ]
Hi Jim,You can place the sound bar an which way and get amazing sound. I have mine laying flat in front of my flat screen. Please let me know if you have any other questions.Keith[ KEITH J Dec 16, 2014 ]
I have mine positioned in front of my TV, laying flat as you describe. The sound is still great. The bar has an IR sensor on the right side and a repeater in the rear that allows it to repeat commands from my remote to the TV's IR sensor. If they did not have this, I'm sure the TV's IR sensor would be blocked by the speaker. This setup is not perfect, though because I think it forces me to repeat a button press on the remote, occasionally. Still, it is not a deal breaker and I still love the speaker.[ Christopher Dec 16, 2014 ]
If your screen is on any stand whatsoever, you should have plenty of clearance. I have an lg 46' and my playbar sits at least three inches below the bottom of the TV screen.i lay mine as shown here.[ JOHN Dec 15, 2014 ]
Our playbar looks like it was built to lay flat with the wide side up as it appears in the picture.[ CRAIG Dec 15, 2014 ]
thats how i use mine flat in front just like the picture its a little higher than 3an1/4 " have it paired up with two play ones sounds great to us never really used it with out the play ones as a stero im maybe getting the sub woofer to finish it off hope it helps u[ SUSAN B Dec 15, 2014 ]
Hi Dave I consider the Sonos soundbar to be great for music output. I have 4 Sonos Amps, the soundbar, and 2 play threes. I am pretty picky and I have never considered needing any enhanced sound in the room where the TV is.Two other thoughts... -buy the soundbar through Crutchfield and if you don't agree, Crutchfield's no-quibble return policy is there for you. -maybe silly, but with the soundbar you can play the TV sound through any other Sonos component. This is useful when there's sports events, etc and you can play teh sound throughout other rooms or outside.[ STEPHEN Dec 16, 2014 ]
I just use it for my big screen tv so I can't answer your question about music fidelity...sorry![ CAROL L Dec 13, 2014 ]
Yes, the player sounds just as good if not better than a play 5. Now, 2 Play 5's in stereo pair will blow the playbar out of the water! But then again, 2 playbars in stereo pair will blow 2 Play 5's out of the water.[ VINCENT J Dec 11, 2014 ]
Hi,I have both the Sonos Playbar and the Play 5 and I have to confess that I very rarely use the Play 5. The Playbar is at least on par with the Play 5 so if you want just one unit, my suggestion is to go with the Playbar. If you can find the resources for the subwoofer I would strongly recommend that also - I makes a big difference.[ JAN S Dec 11, 2014 ]
Hi Dave. I have enjoyed my sound bar and play 5 for about a year now. I truly love both. I have the advantage of the sub woofer, and highly recommend that you purchase it with the sound bar. Both the play 5 and sound bar are fantastic, but as an audiophile (or at least I like to think I am) I found the addition of the sub unit essential. I had severe buyers remorse about the whole system until I opened the box and let the system fill my home with music. Though expensive, it is worth every penny. I have sold and installed High End home automation and music systems like Nuvo in many homes, I was stunned when one of my good customers showed me what he had put in his beach house and was more amazed when I found out what it cost vs. the 30 to 50k of other systems. I highly recommend Sonos for its seamless set up and expandability, but mostly the excellent customer service and top notch sound quality.Hope this helps, Happy Holidays![ ANTHONY D Dec 11, 2014 ]
The Playbar can fill most rooms with quality sound. It has a very diffuse sound field. The Play5 has great sound but lacks any appreciable stereo separation. I would consider buying two PLAY3 for good stereo sound. Any Sonos option would be augmented with the addition of the Sub.[ MICHAEL Dec 11, 2014 ]
I have a sound bar connected to a TV and use it that way the majority of the time. However, I have used it for music and the fidelity of the sound bar is very good. The room that I have it in is around 700 sq ft. I do not have any other speakers connected to the system and the sound bar is very loud and clear. I have other Sonos components in other rooms of the house and the components are played through Bose speakers. The sound bar music quality is as good as these other players. I do not have a Play 5. I do have the smaller Sonos speaker (a Play 1?). The sound bar produces a much better sound than the all in one sonos speaker.[ BRIAN Dec 11, 2014 ]
I own both the play 5 and sound bar. I have not compared them head to head but am very impressed with the fidelity of the sound bar. The sound bar and sub is a combination that can not be beat and leads to great video concerts. Sonos has recently upgraded the software for the sound bar leading even better tunes.[ KEITH Dec 11, 2014 ]
You can connect to an AV receiver using the fiber connection but I haven't tried it myself. As for the HDMI, it also sounds workable but again I have mine connected directly to the TV.[ ANDREW Dec 03, 2014 ]
My sound bar is connected directly to the LG flat panel LED TV with an optical cable and it works well. The cable box (Comcast) remote controls the TV and the Sound bar volume. I like simple systems so I have not added any other components to that particular setup.[ DAVID W Dec 03, 2014 ]
The Playbar connects to your TV's optical audio-out. If whatever you connect to your TV feeds sound to the audio-out will play on the Playbar. So it is more a question about the capability of your TV then the Playbar[ Frank Dec 03, 2014 ]
Unfortunately I have the routine setup connected directly to the TV[ GEORGE Dec 03, 2014 ]
There is an optical audio cable that needs to run from the play bar to the tv. So any audio you feed to the tv will play through the play bar.[ ILENE Dec 03, 2014 ]
You just want to make sure that the front area that says Sonos faces you. I don't really anticipate the sound being off if you had it flipped around. The location of your power outlet and how the cord runs from the bar to the outlet could be an aesthetic issue I guess.[ Jason S Oct 13, 2014 ]
We bought one for our summer house in Maine and it's worked well for almost 2 years now. I'm fairly certain you could mount this any way you want and it would still function properly. It's really just a big speaker that's solidly built, so it could be wall mounted, ceiling mounted, hung vertically, hung horizontally etc. The input/output jack connection area is at one end on the back side.[ Andrew Oct 13, 2014 ]
Also, have you tried disconnecting your Playbar to see if the video quality returns to HD? Just trying to rule out whether this is some strange coincidence or not. Like Luis said, an optical connection from your TV to the Playbar shouldn't result in any signal loss from the cable box to TV.[ Jason S Jun 17, 2014 ]
Could you elaborate on your connections? I assume you have cable box to TV via HDMI and then TV to Playbar via HDMI or Optical? In this configuration, I don't think the signal from cable box to TV should be affected by the connection from TV to Playbar.[ LUIS Jun 17, 2014 ]
I did not have that experience. My HD quality is great.Maybe you need a better quality HDMI cable.I purchase all my cables Online at Cablemart-high quality at a very reasonable price.Good luck.[ GEORGE Jun 16, 2014 ]
Yes you can. The playbar recognized my cable remote and tv remote immediately upon setup. I have used both to control the volume on the playbar.[ Michele Feb 16, 2014 ]
Yes, works best is you are able to turn your TV's speakers off[ Paul Feb 15, 2014 ]
Yes you can when installing the Sonos app on your smartphone or tablet there is a step to sync your cable remote[ FRANK J Feb 13, 2014 ]
You can control the sound bar volume with your cable remote. It is a grand playbar. We are very pleased. I bought two wireless speakers for surround sound effect. If you adjust the sound of the speakers, it will also change the sound on the playbar.[ JERRY A Feb 13, 2014 ]
Yes. We use Comcast and we can use the Comcast remote to adjust the Sonos Playbar volume.[ Jason Feb 13, 2014 ]
Absolutely, the Sonos Ap will walk you through it in a few simple steps. You can use your Iphone, Ipad, or Android phone.[ RONALD J Feb 13, 2014 ]
Yes, you can control the Sonos so umbra volume with any remote that is capable of changing the volume on your TV.[ Christopher Feb 13, 2014 ]
Hi Kevin,I was able to with my cable remote, but I have a samsung tv and had to switch the speaker source on the tv to external speaker. The remote works the same with either source. I hope this helps.Bob[ ROBERT Feb 13, 2014 ]
The answer is yes, you should be able to. Make sure your TV has digital optical output to connect it and then setup is pretty easy. Ideally you want to be able to then turn your TV speakers OFF and have the SONOS be the TV speaker when TV is on. I wasn't able to do that with my Samsung TV. Not a huge deal, but there are times when you're turning the volume up or down and your TV might say one level of volume but the SONOS is above or below that. Like I said, not a huge deal but fyi. Long answer for yes, you can control SONOS with your cable remote as the SONOS is technically your TV speaker and the cable remote is controlling the TV.[ Robert Feb 13, 2014 ]
Hi Daniel. I purchased the play bar and one of the speakers last year. The play bar itself will work with a compatible tv. However, it would not really be beneficial for you to purchase the speakers if you do not have music you want to play from a phone or tablet. If you just want better sound from a tv, then just get the play bar.[ JACQUELINE M Feb 05, 2014 ]
The Sonos system can be used with your PC or Mac. They have software for both. Additionally, once the Playbar is set up with your TV there is no need for the software unless making changes or adjustments, or if you plan to play music with it. Hope this helps.[ William Feb 04, 2014 ]
Just a few comments from a Sonos newbie - - If you plan to add Play:1's or 3's to complete your system then I believe that you need to set it up through the Bridge component which means you need the iOS/Android. I assume that you have a wireless network. - If you only are using a Playbar then you may be able to set it up just using your television. Others would have to answer that issue. - Have you considered getting an inexpensive, perhaps used, iOS or Android device? I have the Playbar and two Play:3's and love the sound. I also have a Play:5 and Play:1 in other rooms. The ability to stream play lists and radio stations to any of the setups is great.[ DOUGLAS Feb 04, 2014 ]
Sonos products are controlled by Apple or Android devices. If you don't have a device that will control your system, yes it would be useless to you. Sonos products do not come with their own remote.[ RICHARD Feb 04, 2014 ]
No, computers do it.[ SCOTT Feb 04, 2014 ]
You can still control it with a windows PC or laptop[ ROGER Feb 04, 2014 ]
The sound bar is still amazing without mobile devices. As long as you have wifi, sonos is a great product. One thing they don't mention is that you can link multiple speakers automatically to the sound bar to get surround sound. You still can control the speakers from any computer that is connected to the wifi and has the Sonos software. I have the soundbar and two Play 1's and am looking to get a Play 3.[ Aaron Feb 04, 2014 ]
I'm a big fan of Sonos products; they can handle many functions. My primary use of my PLAYBAR is simply as a soundbar for my Samsung LED TV, connected to each other via an optical cable. It can also be used it as a speaker for streaming content with an Apple or Android product, but when used simply as a standalone soundbar (for your television), I think it's great.[ JAMES A Feb 04, 2014 ]
With the wireless setup and multi-room capability there is still a lot of benefit to the Sonos Platform. Assuming you have a PC, you can still control the system with out an apple or android mobile device. However, the convenience and capability of being able to control the system from from a mobile device is definitely a big part of the overall experience.[ Brian Feb 04, 2014 ]
Hello again. SONOS replied...Hello Steve,All Sonos components (excl. the CONNECT:AMP, which features a hard-button to switch voltage) feature a power-supply which automatically switches to the correct voltage. 110-240v indeed means that you can use Sonos devices in Europe without any problem.Kind regards, Bjorn L (Employee) about 3 hours ago .[ STEPHEN Feb 07, 2014 ]
HI Tex 1st, Thanks for your service in the US military. My Playbar plug input is labeled "100v - 240v". However I don't see any place where you would tell it which voltage you are connecting to. I see no mention in the owner guide either.I forwarded the question to the SONOS support site.[ STEPHEN Feb 03, 2014 ]
I don't believe they come with 110/220 supply. How about one of those international power converter plugs? [ GEORGE Feb 03, 2014 ]
Uncertain, I already returned my Playbar because it was incompatible with iPhone 5.[ GARY Feb 03, 2014 ]
We checked on the back of our Sonos. Looks like it just allows for 110. Call or email Sonos to see if you can get the other voltage supply.[ CAROL L Feb 03, 2014 ]
Sorry I do not know the answer![ STEPHANIE Feb 03, 2014 ]
Looking at the specs the Playbar is equipped with a universal power supply that can accept 100-240 V at 50-60 Hz.You might need an adapter to handle any differences between US and Italy with blade arrangement.[ DENNIS J Feb 03, 2014 ]
It depends on how the output for your TV is configured. Generally most modern TVs are capable of providing full Dolby 5.1 via the optical cable, however your TV may be configured to output PCM (2 channel) by default. In this case you will need to go into TV settings and update the audio output format. You can then go into the settings section of the Sonos app and see what type of input is being provided.[ PETER Jan 29, 2016 ]
I have this setup with sonos sub. Love it! Wife loves it, no wires! Also great set up for music ! Love Sonos![ GARY J Nov 26, 2015 ]
I have not heard of this issue but I can say the sound is tremendous. When I watch a movie it's like I'm in the movie theater with surround sound. Well worth the investment.Hope this helps.[ GEORGE Jan 19, 2014 ]
I would definitely be getting the sub with the bar and two play 3s for the rear speakers. I'll probably stay away from the front speaks for the moment due to $. I read on another site that an optical switch can be used to obtain the true 5.1, has anyone tried it yet? [ Dan Jan 17, 2014 ]
The Sonos Playbar was my third attempt at purchasing this type of speaker for the TV (and the radio value as well.) I have never measure the output from the Samsung TV, so I can't specifically address your question. However, the Sonos system with the subwofer sounds great in my 20' x 20' living room.[ J N Jan 17, 2014 ]
Hey Dan B,I have purchased many speakers in my day and I am very impressed with the output and sound from this product. But remember this is still a center speaker...I would recommend the left and right channel speakers as well as the rear left and right wireless. If you like more bass of course get the sub..I'm telling you the sound is better than going to a theater! Coolest thing about this product is you can control it from your IPad like i do...I think it is worth the extra money...Purchase it from Crutchfield..NO shipping or tax and if you don't like it you can always send it back w in 30 days...That is as good as it gets!RL[ ROBERT Jan 17, 2014 ]
no you need wifi and its cordless from iPad[ ROBERT Dec 17, 2013 ]
The Sonos Playbar is similar to all Sonos units. Software updates and Internet based music must have a hard-wired internet connection somewhere in the Sonos system in order for those signals to get to the Playbar. If you don't already have a Sonos system and have only the Playbar, then the Playbar itself has to have a wired connection to your router. You can also buy a Sonos bridge, which serves only as an Internet connection unit, for about $50. Once the bridge is plugged in to your router, all of your Sonos units, including the Playbar, will have wireless access to the Internet through the bridge. Once the Sonos system is up and going you can use your iPad wirelessly as a controller, but Sonos cannot access the Internet directly through your iPad.[ AtlantaJim Dec 17, 2013 ]
You need an internet connection if you wish to have an internet radio source like, Pandora or Spotify. Place and pug-in the sound bar. Then, connect the Sonos bridge to your wireless router via the provided ethernet cable, and then use the the controller app to find the sound bar. It's a quick, easy snap. It's very intuitive. The sound bar can be connected to your router directly, via an ethernet wire, but since they are including the Sonos bridge for free, you don't need it. Or, as stated, you sync it with your router wirelessly. The controller (there is no remote control) is accessed via an app on your computer, laptop, smart phone, or iPad. I have the controller loaded on all of them, so I can access the controller screen wherever I am or whatever I'm nearest to.By the way -- it sounds terrific! I have the sound bar linked with two Sonos 5s for surround sound, a Sonos 3 in the bedroom, and a Sonos 1 in the kitchen, too. It was EASY to install and link. Music and TV in less than 30 minutes from boxes to SOUND.[ CRAIG Dec 16, 2013 ]
My experience is that you need the bridge. You hook the bridge up to your internet router (wherever that may be in your house) and then the playbar communicates through that. When I tried it without the bridge it didn't work. You can also probably call the company to make sure there is no other way, but I don't think there is.[ JENNIFER Dec 16, 2013 ]
It will work from your i pad or i phone with an internet connection. It runs off the main Sonos system. I used an optical cord to connect with my TV.[ MICHAEL Dec 16, 2013 ]
i use my ipad as the controller for all rooms (i have sonos speakers in different rooms through the house) i can control rooms form ipads or iphones. highly recommend.[ SAM Dec 16, 2013 ]
I returned the sonosplay bar asI felt the sound was average for the cost. I believe you can use it the way you want and it will become part of your sonos system.[ CE Dec 16, 2013 ]
You can listen to the tv with the sound bar and still use other sonos speakers on the network. When the tv is not on, it is another sonos speaker. If you are listening to the tv and decide to turn on music through the soundbar, the tv sound shuts off for the music. Sound is great. Has nice 'nighttime' volume feature on control and another to bring out voices.[ ED L Dec 16, 2013 ]
Hi Gary. I have a Sonos playbar and I have an answer to your question. You can use the Sonos playbar as an extra music component to your entire Sonos system to play your music. If you turn your TV on, your Sonos playbar will stop playing music automatically and converts to a TV sound bar, and the rest of your sonos speakers will continue to play music until you shut them off. However when you use the playbar as a TV sound bar, and shut the TV off, you have to "group" the playbar back in to play your music again (it doesnt do it automatically). Hope that helps Vinnie[ VINCENT J Dec 15, 2013 ]
I also have a complete Sonos system, with a playbar. The answer to both your questions is yes. You just go to the "group" option in Sonos and select which componets you want to connect together and which you want to use independently at anyone time, like the TV. Hope this answers your question. JN BTW, after going through two other playbars for my TV, Sonos is the best, plus it can be part of house-wide audio system.[ J N Dec 15, 2013 ]
Yes to both questions. If your Sonos system is set up to identify each room separately you can listen to music in other rooms while watching TV and listening via the soundbar. The soundbar should be connected to the optical audio out connection on your TV to get the TV audio but the soundbar just like the Connect 5, etc will pickup Pandora etc via the Sonos bridge linked to your computer. I have my apartment set up for Sonos network in every room including the soundbar and TV in the living room and it works great.[ PETER M Dec 15, 2013 ]
Yes but hook it to your tv of choice through its optical vice the add sonos component thru sonos setting Tv can be streamed while playing music because renenber it's has potentially 32 channels to work with. Lastly if the TV is not on the playbAr can be used as an additional sound component for your music Hope this helps and if you don't have the sonos sub I would recommend it to get the full understanding of what your equipment is capable of (1 playbAr 1 sub & 2 play 1 = 5.1 sound) ! Either way enjoy the wonderful world of sonos[ EMEKA O Dec 15, 2013 ]
Gary, Yes the playbar will become the speaker for the TV. In the setup you will infact keep the tv muted always. The other sonos components in your home can play other Music, while you watch tv. The playbar is just another sonos speaker when you are not using your tv and can stream music. Works really well and sounds great![ SUNIL Dec 15, 2013 ]
Yes and yes to your first two questions. And, when your TV is on and linked to your soundbar, you can extend TV sound to other selected units if you wish.[ PETER Dec 15, 2013 ]
Gary,I use the playbar exactly as you outlined in your question. Once the playbar is hooked up to your TV and network you can do any of the following:- listen to TV on the playbar and simultaneously listen to music on other sonos components - listen to TV on any sonos component on the network - listen to music on the playbarMike[ MICHAEL Dec 15, 2013 ]
Yes, the Soundbar and its associated surround speakers can be used as your TV speakers or as a regular Sonos player. The Soundbar can be used for TV when the other players are streaming music. When the TV is on, the Playbar will automatically choose that as the source first but it can be changed to other sources.[ MICHAEL Dec 15, 2013 ]
The Playbar senses when audio is present from the TV and plays that source. If the TV is off then the Playbar acts as an additional Sonos component. If both are on then the TV has priority.[ DENNIS J Dec 15, 2013 ]
I've had the playbar for a few months. It works as an independent Sonos component. Play TV on it, and different sources on other speakers. The playbar will play any source you put it on, whether the TV is on or off.[ JULIAN Dec 15, 2013 ]
Yes and yes. The sound bar is versatile. It can serve as a music speaker for your pandora, spotify, itunes, etc, or as a speaker for your TV. You can even blast your TV audio across the house if you were so inclined.[ ILENE Dec 15, 2013 ]
Sorry, we don't know the answer to your question. Have you tried contacting Sonos directly? [ CAROL L Dec 15, 2013 ]
Yes to the TV - it is a separate "room" the PlayBar and works great - both as the TV speakers and when I use it to play music...obviously, it cannot do it at the same time - play music AND be the TV sound. EnjoY![ ROY Dec 15, 2013 ]
Yes, you can have the TV delivering TV audio independent of your other Sonos devices, and then stream music through it when you want just music. The sound from it is amazing![ JAMES F Dec 15, 2013 ]
I have an Energy Power Bar Elite as well as the Sonos Sound Bar. Both are quite good as soundbars but I selected the Sonos bar for a larger room (20 x 25ft) that functions as a personal gym where I wanted flexibility to play the TV, some work-out music, or internet radio. The Sonos unit sounds great in the large room and has sufficient base response on its own so I have not added the subwoofer at this time, but I may do so later. In short, the flexibility of the Sonos unit to play multiple sources of music in a larger room without having to add extra electronics or run extra wires was a perfect solution for me and it works quite well.[ DAVID W Nov 29, 2013 ]
Get it....won't be sorry. Purchase the sub too...love the sound and the versatility. Stunning and rich sound![ ANDREW Nov 26, 2013 ]
I have Bose system and I don't notice any difference. I love how easy they integrate to existing systems and ease of use. Highly recommended[ DAVID E Nov 25, 2013 ]
I bought another Bluetooth soundbar before I decided to purchase sonos and the main reason for that is because of the wireless connection without Bluetooth. If you use your phone to control Bluetooth sound bar then if you get a call or step out if the range, the music will stop. Sonos doesn't have that issue. Quality is great especially if you get the subwoofer as well. I know the price is steep but if you plan to expand your stereo system at your house with Sonos for all rooms, there is nothing better in the market than Sonos.[ ALEX Nov 25, 2013 ]
The sonos soundbar is great. It's the access to 100s of thousands of radio stations that you are paying for. The whole system is great! I highly recommend sonos playbar!![ VICTORIA M Nov 25, 2013 ]
I have been a loyal customer with Crutchfield for over 15years because of their exceptional product line and outstanding customer service. Their 60 day guarantee is amazing and crucial when deciding to purchase a major piece of electronics. I have 3 SONOS sound bars in my home and I can honestly say that the sound quality is amazing. Great for movie and music playback. I would recommend this product and Crutchfield to any and everyone looking for a great piece of electronics. Plus their free delivery makes it all that easy to keep coming back.[ VERDONE Nov 25, 2013 ]
We have had the Sonos soundbar for 4 months now and it has exceeded my expectations. The sound is crisp and clear and I highly recommend also purchasing the Sonos sub as this will compliment the soundbar. I've had energy speakers and sub before but this system is far better in my opinion. Read the ratings online and most people are very content with their Sonos system. I can almost guarantee that you will add more Sonos systems to your collection because they are that good and Easy to set up.[ JANET Nov 25, 2013 ]
You have to remember that this is more than just a soundbar. It's also a wireless music streaming device and integrates nicely with other Sonos gear. The Sonos Playbar is the only soundbar I own so I have nothing to compare it to but I have nothing to complain about. It sounds great playing music and "voice" when watching TV.[ Frank Nov 25, 2013 ]
Actually the price is very reasonable for the high quality sound you receive.Coupled with the great number of music options you won't find better value anywhere else. One of the best products I have ever purchased.[ GEORGE Nov 25, 2013 ]
I've had my sonos sound bar since this spring and couldn't be happier with it. It may be pricier but I already have a sonos system in my house so to have it integrate seamlessly into my existing system. Even if you don't already have a sonos system the quality of sound and all the other things you can do with a sonos system makes it more than worth it in my mind.[ BENJAMIN J Nov 25, 2013 ]
The sound quality and ease of setup and use I think are worth the cost. I did the setup in my 2 nd home loved it and then added it to my home. In fact I swapped out Airplay for Sonos wireless. Much more reliable and higher quality. Also bought the sub woofer which is a very good addition.[ JAMES Nov 25, 2013 ]
