From Sonos: Connect Amp
From Sonos: Controller App
From Sonos: Enjoy Music In HiFi Sound
Get ready for more of your favorite music in any room of your house. The Sonos CONNECT:AMP makes it simple, and you won't have to run wires around your home. Hook this amplified music player up to a pair of speakers, and it connects to the Internet and your computer wirelessly — either with your existing Wi-Fi® network or by creating its own dedicated network with a wired connection with the Sonos BOOST (sold separately).
A built-in 55-watt-per-channel amplifier delivers your music in full-bodied, dynamic stereo sound. And the CONNECT:AMP's compact design means it can fit in much smaller spaces than traditional stereo components.
Pair this player with Audioengine's high-performance P4 speakers for a great-sounding — and cosmetically matched — system.
You can use an iPhone®, iPod touch®, iPad®, or Android™ phone to control any and all Sonos players. A free download turns your smartphone and tablet into a full-fledged Sonos controller. Easily navigate and search through playlists and tracks stored on your computer, or select an Internet radio station. Create customized playlists on the fly for individual rooms or for playback over your entire Sonos system. You can also mute or adjust the volume of each of your players.
The Sonos system works seamlessly with a host of streaming music services, including Pandora®, Spotify, Apple Music, Rhapsody®, TIDAL and more. You also have access to thousands of Internet radio stations from around the world through TuneIn Radio, and terrestrial radio stations through iHeartRadio. If you subscribe to SiriusXM Internet Radio, you can tune into all your favorite programming on any Sonos player in your system.
Sonos now gives you convenient wireless access to music and podcasts stored in the Music app of iOS devices, for playback throughout your entire Sonos system. This function works on devices running iOS6 or later (see below for full list of compatible Apple devices). The system even lets you connect multiple Apple players at once. For instance, you can queue up songs from your iPhone to play in the kitchen while you cook, and your spouse can stream a podcast in the den at the same time.
You can have up to 32 Sonos music players in your system, and each one can play an independent selection of individual tracks or playlists. Listen to jazz in the den while your spouse plays rock music in the kitchen, or pump a single playlist of songs throughout the entire house during a party.

Very fast service, and a follow up call to make sure I was satisfied.
Great addition to our Sonos system. I purchased the unit to control outdoor speakers that were already installed and running on zone 2 through our Denon receiver with Apple TV. What a pain that was! I had a hard time justifying the purchase do to the over inflated price...in my opinion...but, overall we are very glad we pulled the trigger. So much easier to listen to music outside by the pool. You just can't beat Sonos! Love it.
First time purchasing a Sonos product. I purchased the product to play music on my outdoor speakers. Since Sonos does not have suitable outdoor speakers I had to purchase dedicated outdoor speakers from another company, which means that I had to hardwire the speakers. Once wired, I downloaded the app and the rest of the setup was very easy and quick. So far I only have the two outdoor speakers connected but in the future will be purchasing Sonos speakers to play music in different rooms. It will be interesting to see how you play different music in different rooms.
Pros: Easy setup Option to hook up wireless and hard wired speakers Ability to play music in any room with Sonos speaker
Cons: Price Have to hook up system to WiFi
The Connect AMP was easy to install and worked well for the rooms we installed them in. It was easy for my wife to learn to select her music with the SONOS software.
Pros: The Connect AMP continues to run streaming music even when the computer running the software was turned off.
Easy to setup and performs as advertised. Only con is the price...
Works as advertised. Easy to setup with the SONOS App. Crutchfield means an easy return if needed. Competitive prices.
New to Sonos. Wow! What a game changer.
Wow - setup was straight forward with immediate sound gratification!
Works great, sounds great
I have six Sonos Connect:Amps because my husband refuses to get rid of our Klipsch hard wired speakers - the Connect:Amps power the speakers and give us wireless control (iPhone). We have awesome sound now on 3 balconies, master bedroom, master bathroom, entry room, kitchen and living room!
Pros: Wireless control, easy to set up, easy to use
Cons: Still have speaker wire all over the place!
I replaced an older Sony head and have not looked back. I use for surround sound and split to outside speakers I have in yard.. integrates easily into Sonos ecosystem
Pros: Ease of use , sound is very clear and streams flawlessly
Cons: Must use URL to enable use for surround Also required a Ethernet connection from soundbar to hub
Good product. added 2 of these to run 4 in ceiling speakers. They sound great.
Finally bought into the SONOS product line, and i am not disappointed at all!!! So easy to set up, control from iPad or iPhone, loud enough for my living room/kitchen, makes the most of my Klipsch floorstanding speakers, 5/5 stars! Only thing i wish Sonos would do is allow you to view past songs played on Pandora...so that shows how little is wrong with the product, if anything! Also, i was worried about how much power this would use as being on all the time; my kill-o-watt shows 7 watts during usage, 5 when idle. I can't believe how efficient this thing is!
Pros: Easy to set up, sounds amazing, perfect interface with iOS devices
I got the Sonos Connect AMP to run ceiling speakers in the kitchen and living room. Shipping was fast from Crutchfield. Easy to install. I had it running from my iMac and my iPad Air in about 10 minutes. Sounds great and lots of sources of music. Connected my Pandora and Amazon Prime Music accounts easily. I also connected to my favorite local radio stations. Plays my content from my iPad as well. I will be connecting an analog signal from a TV in the kitchen so I expect better sound than from the TV speakers. I will probably add another Sonos speaker system to move around the house and outside.
Pros: Easy to set up and operate. Good sound. Great connection to my music content and radio stations.
Cons: None so far
Great product - one of my favorite things I put into my new house. Easy to install and easy to use - gives you access to all of your music as well as Pandora, Spotify and all local radio channels. We use this everyday and it is really such a great and affordable way to enjoy music in your house.
Pros: Easy to set up Easy to use Convenient to control from your smart phone
Cons: The only con is that you have to be on the original wifi network you set it up on.
Remarkable job on the application(s) for this. The amp itself is no-nonsense and seems to produce some decent sound. The coordination between amplifiers in a group is incredible. Wonderfully useful conversion. This is the way music will be enjoyed going forward...these guys are just first with this complete an installation.
I loved the sound from some Monitor Audio Radius 90 bookshelf speakers, but ultimately have to return this. When grouped with a Sonos Playbar as the input, it would stutter and drop out every few minutes. When not dropping out, even after 're-tuning' the speakers there was still enough of a delay leading to echoes when both the Playbar and Amp were on. Also, the software doesn't allow you to use the Amp to power surround sound speakers for the Playbar.
Pros: Simple setup Small form factor
Cons: Seriously ugly design Doesn't play with the Playbar.
Easy to setup and operate. This does exactly what I wanted. The directions seriously have two steps: plug in and download the app. It's that easy. Play music from your phone through WiFi similar to Bluetooth in your car. I bought a Devon and it sucked. This was way better.
Pros: Easy to setup and operate
Cons: Price was a little high
Works well in the Sonos app just like other speakers I have. I used to push Bose 151 outdoor speakers. It has plenty of power for one set. I do not know if you used a speaker switch or splitter if there is enough watts to push more. That is why I gave it a 4. Would be nice to be able to upgrade to either a multi speaker amp or higher watt one. Overall I am happy with the purchase and would recommend Sonos products.
Pros: Easy set up and integration with existing Sonos products.
Cons: Lower watts and no option for multi speakers (have to buy additional amps).
I already have two of the older Sonos Play:5's. I got this unit to use with a pair of Paradigm reference bookshelf speakers. The sound and loudness is much better than a pair of Play:5s.
Pros: Sound quality. Sound level.
Cons: It is only available in white, I want black.
This thing is awesome but I feel like it should be a little cheaper. That's my only complaint though. Drives my outdoor speakers ungodly loud with flawless connectivity. Cant beat it with a stick, except that price.
Pros: Flawless performance, powerful on a large pair. Can drive a second pair if needed.
Those old speakers or a nice set of new ones get a renewed purpose with this amp. Connect it to a headphone jack on your computer and the speakers connected to the amp are your computer speakers. Without the computer on it is a Sonos internet radio connection just like Sonos speakers are. Use the amp as component or as air play. I have Kloss Ensemble 2 speakers and a Kloss subwoofer hooked to one amp and these and the speakers sound better than ever as a bedroom set up. I bought a second amp to use with my computer as I use Klipsch speakers for internet music concerts that I enjoy. I also enjoy airplay music with both amps. The amplifier is as good a 55 per watt channel amp as you can get as it is very clean.
Pros: Worthwhile if you like internet and music general listening from your computer. Hook up a CD player instead of a computer and as a component,it will be a CD player or an internet radio on air play. I am pleased as the speakers I really wanted to use with this amplifier sound smoothly accurate and get enough power.
Cons: For what is is designed to do as a Sonos product there are no cons owning the amplifier. If you need more basic functions buy a receiver or an integrated amp for those speakers you want to keep. The basic Sonos system with their speakers is fine if you are starting from scratch and you want a full in-house set up. Their speakers also sound really good.
After connectin this product I have determined that the right speaker terminal on the back of the sonos connect is defective and not sending sound to the speaker. I have verified that the speaker and speaker wire is working properly.
I bought the SONOS Connect:AMP to power existing speakers that surround my pool area; specifically, Bose 151s and TIC GS3s. I was tired of having to go inside the house every time I wanted to change sources, adjust the volume or simply change songs. The SONOS Connect:AMP was the perfect solution to this problem. The unit arrived within two days of order as promised, installation was quick and easy and the operation has thus far been flawless. I had seen SONOS components in action before, with my sister owning a couple of Play 5s and a Playbar as well, so I knew what to potentially expect from this quality manufacturer. Well, the SONOS Connect:AMP did not disappoint. The power is clean, the app is uncluttered and easy to use and the unit looks good too. I plan to purchase a couple of Play 1s and a Playbar in the near future for the inside of the house. Thank you Crutchfield and thank you SONOS!
Pros: Ease of Setup, Solid State Construction, Great Online Documentation
Cons: Could use a little more power (Currently 55 Watts), Could also use multiple zones
Works great :)
Pros: Simple install
Cons: Slightly under powered for the speakers that I bought
I've used Sonos ever since I found them. By far the cleanest and most flexible audio option for indoor and outdoor music. I bought the Connect:Amp to run my speakcraft Rock speakers and couldn't be happier. With the new pool, this was a logical choice to add music as well to compliment our indoor Sonos music.
Pros: Easy Setup, Qaulity Product, Ease and Reliability of Use, Multi-Zone done right.
Cons: Price (although it's worth it).
Sonos is the best home audio solution. I have 4 floors, so 4 zones, and I can control each one independently. People on each floor can control the song, sound, volume level, etc.
Pros: Extreme control of many audio sources and output settings. Most flexible system on the market. So easy to connect and setup.
Cons: A little pricey and almost never on sale.
Sonos comes through again. Easy set up. Great sound. Works perfext
Pros: Price is high
The connect AMP was a perfect solution to use existing wired surround speakers as well as existing wired speakers in my Dining Room and Porch. They are attractive, small in size and drive my speakers very well. Integration was easy with the Sonos Playbar as well. The only negative feature is you can't connect a subwoofer while using the AMP in surround mode. Would have been nice to use my existing powered sub instead of buying the expense SONOS Sub.
Pros: Small, easy to set up, clean current for the rated power.
Cons: Expensive. Can't use own powered subwoofer if using to power surround speakers.
I found the setup of the Sonos Connect:AMP to be extremely easy. I had the amp plugged into my outdoor speakers and working within 10 minutes. The Sonos app interface is real easy to use.
Used this to connect vintage 1964 jukebox in basement and can now group other SONOS speakers in the house to play jukebox sounds anywhere!
Pros: Great SONOS feature for all speakers is the ability to group/ungroup multiple speakers. Very Cool stuff!
If Apple made speakers sonos is them super high quality made , excellent sound , ease of use everyone who comes over loves my sonos system !! My components are a play bar, sonos connect to interface my whole house intercom music system and a connect amp to interface my Bose outdoor speakers to system more than happy with purchase next purchase will be the sub for my family room !!
Pros: Apple quality, sound, ease of use and set up ,
Cons: Price but you get what u pay for if they were cheaper the quality would suffer
This is my first Sonos amp, I have most of the other products (Play 5, Play 3, Play 1, and Connect). Like the others, the CONNECT:amp is awesome! easy to use, easy to install.
Pros: No external amp needed, easy to set up, easy to use.
Cons: Wish it had different power options, so I could us it for more powerful speakers.
This is a great way to update your wired audio system to streaming services and to add remote speakers where needed in your home. It's very easy to set up and performs flawlessly. The WiFi mesh is very stable. Definitely better than Bluetooth in my experience. The app for your phone or tablet is very good. I'm very pleased.
Pros: Easy to set up and use. Sonos wifi mesh system is more stable than blue tooth. Versatile array of Sonos products.
Cons: You can't turn off your Sonos components. Sonos products aren't cheap--but they do what they are supposed to do.
I used the ConnectAMP to use my older in-wall Bose speakers with the Sonos system. The sound quality is about the same and the integration was easy. The online help from Sonos was fantastic in the pre-purchase decision. One issue I had was connecting the sub-woofer. I neglected to realize the Sonos AMP required an ACTIVE sub-woofer, not a passive one like I had, hence that did not work. I had to take the signal level output from the RCA sub-woofer jack, put it into the older Bose amp and then use the sub-woofer output from that. I was hoping to get rid of the Bose amp in this process but for the time being it is still needed. Improvement to the Sonos Connect:AMP in my opinion would be the ability to connect a Passive or Active sub-woofer to the Connect:AMP.
Pros: Simple install, excellent user interface
Cons: No passive sub-woofer connection port, only active sub-woofer is supported.
I started buying Sonos components about 5 yeas ago starting with a stand alone play5, a connect and finally a connect Amp to power 2 Niles outdoor speakers on my patio. They sound awesome, the connect amp delivers plenty of power. Sonos rocks!
Pros: Amp & Sonos zone in one box
I purchased the Connect Amp in order to connect to a pair of Bose built-in ceiling speakers I had installed in my wife's art studio a couple years ago. Although routing the speaker wires through the attic was a chore, the amp set-up is simple, the sound is great, and the SONOS system is simple and convenient to operate, my wife loves it.
Pros: Good sound, Simple set-up
I replaced a 7-year-old more powerful but awful Control4 system with Sonos for sound (and I wish there were a similarly simple system for video that integrated DVR and computer--another story). I put in a 4-zone system with 4 Connect:Amps to unpowered speakers (already wired). I installed them physically in about an hour: out of the box, put it in the cabinet, plug in power, connect the speaker wires, plug in internet (optional after the first), plug in computer and Comcast DVR into auxiliary inputs (optional). Then took about half hour to set up software and program it from my iPhone. Sound quality is excellent. But best of all: the interface is smooth, fast, intuitive, powerful, and flawless. My wife and I can control it from whatever device is closest: one of our iPhones, one of our iPads, or one of our computers -- they're all connected without interfering with each other. Music library in the bedroom, Pandora in the kitchen, Comcast in the den. Start the music in the kitchen, then add in the open-layout dining room (with separate volume control) when company arrives. So unlike the Control4 or a Harmony remote, Sonos is simple, fast, and stable.
Pros: Excellent sound. Interface is fast, intuitive, powerful, and flawless. Never crashes or hangs.
Outstanding product and easy setup. Took no more than 15 minutes in our office to set up and tie to speakers. I am streaming radio stations, Pandora and Google playlist.
Pros: Easy set up and control
I never thought that I would be able to transfer my gigantic compact disc collection to iTunes, and have it play effortless throughout my home. The Sonos is pure magic; and my ability to control everything from my iPad to my iPhone is effortless. In the past few years, I have often thought that my investment in these compact disks was totally lost. However, with my Sonos, I am listening to albums that I probably would never have listen to again if they remained in my compact disc carousel. In addition, I cannot say enough about the quality Of the Sonos support in getting started. For those of us who have such large compact disc collections, this is definitely the only way to go. I cannot say enough in praise of Sonos.
I have 3 of these units so far and they have performed flawlessly.
Cons: They are pricey.
Great product that does everything it said it would. This is a great addition to the main system to expand the use of the homes in ceiling speakers. It was very easy to hook up. Five star. I do wish it would come in flat black so it didn't stand out as it does in white. This is a small price to pay for such a great product.
As the title indicates, this is my 1st experience with a SONOS product. I was definitely skeptical about using a WiFi signal as an input. However, I quickly discovered that the actual sound quality depends more on the service that's being used as a source, vs, the SONOS connect/AMP itself. My advice is to select the best Hi-Fidelity service your pocketbook will allow, and you'll experience cd-quality music, or better! The SONOS connect/AMP unit itself is an amazing piece technology; fairly compact in size, yet providing both a powerful & clear signal to your speakers. p.s., I'd suggest using 16-ga. stranded CL-2 speaker wire.
Pros: (As provided in my review)
Cons: (...none to date)
Love it. Works Great!!
Pros: Easy to setup and use.
Cons: A little Pricey
As always the Sonos Amps did exactly what we wanted and with the Crutchfield support team assisting us with the speaker hook up it was a breeze.
Another great Sonos product to go with the great technical support. When contacted and told that this would be used to drive outdoor speakers, they anticipated the possible connections that I would be making and addressed my concerns before I knew that I had any. Great product
Pros: Simple to connect to the rest of the Sonos System. Small and stylish design provides flexibility in where it will be located. Flexible connections enable multiple speaker to be connected
Cons: A little pricey, but the convenience, capabilities and performance offset this.
Sonos connect amp is a great way to utilize existing hardwired speakers. We bought a house with several speakers mounted in the ceiling. All the wires throughout the house ended in one closet. The biggest problem in set up was figuring out which speaker wire went to which room. The Sonos set up was easy. We mainly use Sonos to play existing streaming radio stations (NPR) and music through Pandora.
Pros: Ease of set up. Ease of use from Smartphone
Cons: Price - never discounted $499 everywhere. Connect Amp only runs 4 speakers. It gets even more pricey running multiple rooms because you have to buy more than one unit at $499 a piece.
The Sonos line in general is a little pricey, but they never fail to deliver a robust, high-quality product. We have the Soundbar/sub combo, a Play5 and a couple of Play1's. The Connect:Amp allowed me to utilize an older Bose Acoustimass 7 system and everything just sounds great. Typical Sonos - easy to connect, easy to use, sounds great.
I was skeptical that the Connect Amp would be suitable to drive my Polk RTIA7 speakers but I have been more than delighted with the sound they produce.
Pros: Love how easy it is to stream music from my family's Ipods/Ipads/Iphones and computers. We can all queue up the next song to play, or lay in bed and start the music effortlessly. Great!
Cons: Not so much a con for the amp, just frustrated that some of my iTunes DRM protected songs cannot be played via streaming.
I had to replace a Whole house sound system Amplifier/controller which died after four years!!! Replacement meant buying a new unit and paying a dealer to install and program it. The Sonos product was able to replace the whole system for a few dollars more for the hardware. The programming and set up were a snap. Sonos leads you thru the set up. I was able to connect the Music Server to the Sonos connect and the Home Theater receiver/Amp video receiver to the Sonos connect Amp. Between the music service apps, music on our computers, Music server, Smart TV, Satellite TV and the Home Theater receiver/Amp we have more music choices that ever.
Pros: Easy to install, Wide choice of music services, and a lot documentation on line.
Cons: One amp required for each set of hardwired speakers. Therefor a large amount of space is required.
A great way to take advantage of existing good speakers to wireless music!
I was reluctant to purchase the SONOS system for our house due to the price; however, I could not be more pleased with the product. In fact, I've bought a second Connect Amp and am planning on 2 additional units in the future. The performance and ease of use is superior to all the alternatives I've tried and researched. Also, the service from Crutchfield is outstanding as always.
Pros: Ease of Use Outstanding Performance
Pros: Ease of networking is the key
Cons: The App needs to get with the times. A little confusing
I used this to connect the SONOS system to a set of in-wall speakers by our hot tub. This allowed me to eliminate a much larger receiver and have more source options.
Pros: Simple to setup
Cons: It gets expensive to keep adding rooms
Most people put cost as a con to Sonos: I say, NO WAY! Sonos delivers great value for the money. I over-analyzed all options for our new construction project and went with hard-wired speakers back to a closet full of Connect:amps. Best possible system for the money.Connect:amp replaces a whole bunch of gear in the AV closet and Sonos allows me to add rooms that are NOT hardwired to the system as budget allows. Whole-home audio a piece at a time.
Pros: Easy to set up, easy to use. Flexible, versatile. Whole home audio made DIY easy. Great value. Crutchfield performed flawlessly: Quick delivery, great service. Every online shopping experience should be measured by them. Good work!
Cons: No YouTube support (are you listening Sonos?). Big miss!
This amp allows the use of my existing speakers and works flawlessly
Pros: A cost effective means of retaining your existing speakers and incorporating them into your SONOS system
Great product, easy install and setup, great quality sound, and a great app to mix and play music from my iTunes library on my iPhone. Where AirPlay fails miserably on the Airport Express, Sonos shines bright.
Pros: Easy setup, quality sound, great App.
Cons: In box instructions and startup guide not clear. Once I realized the iPhone app performs the setup it was easy.
Set up was a little unclear, kept shutting down my home network. Trial and error fixed the problems. Love the app!
Pros: Great sound, great app, small size and it's just fun!
Cons: Set up a little unclear, not bad though!
This was very simple to setup. I connected the power and the speaker wires, downloaded the app on my computer, and within about 15 minutes I was playing music. Most of that time was waiting as it cataloged my music library- the setup was very simple and worked flawlessley.I'm using it all the time now!
Pros: Easy setup, app based control. compact and attractive design.`
Another win with Sonos . So easy and made my patio speakers connect to all my inputs . Can listen to any of our stations or have sound for the tv . Just plug and play
If you are looking for seamless integration for your whole house audio, this is it.
Pros: No wires! Works
Cons: Does not play hi resolution
Fantastic product, we have 6 of them and use all over the house
Very occasional hiccups with the app have made this just a hair under perfect. I would also like to be able to plug my subwoofer in with both channels, not just one cable. ..Would like an additional audio in, but i know the whole sonos premise is that we are doing it all wirelessly..... It was very easy to set up though. I was afraid of compressed audio from internet sources sounding crummy on the very nice speakers (I got ones that I liked better than the sonos speakers for my living room) that I got, but even things like soundcloud have sounded great. Overall, I love this product.
OWN SEVERAL OF THESE AMPS AND FIND THAT ARE WELL BUILT, PERFORM GREAT AND HAVE AWESOME SUPPORT FROM SONOS IN TEH FORM OF UPDATES, INTERFACE AND INTEGRATION EASE
Pros: EASY TO USE, SMALL FORM FACTOR, RUN COOL, PERFORM WELL
Cons: PRICEY WISHED THEY HAD A MULTI-CHANNEL VARIANT FOR LARGER INSTALLATIONS
Pros: can work for the whole house and outside
Cons: expensive but worth it
Great amp... the amp is hooked up to 4 Polk ceiling speakers and it sound terrific.
Pros: Able to separated the what is playing with the Sonos amp and my Sonos play 1.
Cons: The Sonos speaker family has to be close to an outlet for the power. Price isn't an issue because you get what you pay for (good quality).
For the price, you expect the system to work perfectly and that's just what it does. It's an elegantly engineered system. It sounds great, lets you get to all your music and then more, and is so wonderful to use. We bought our first piece a couple years ago and it quickly became the thing we turned on whether it was relaxing at home or dinner music or cooking music. It sounds great, looks great, and they keep improving the app. This is the Internet of Things they keep talking about. We add on to our every Christmas. This Christmas, we replaced an old receiver that drives speakers in the den and living room with the Amp. It was a simple connect and go setup. The system automatically integrated the new piece and in 2 minutes you were listening to music. No more connecting a phone or the ipod to the amp and then having to run back to it to adjust the volume or find a song.
Pros: Great sound, easy to use, endlessly expandable.
The Connect:AMP arrived, and set-up was simple! The difference that Crutchfield made was that you took the time to explain things, draw a simple diagram and graphically what I couldn't understand from reading the Sonos information! Perhaps that was a "duh" moment - but it didn't matter - you took the time to listen, understand and respond. Many thanks to my advisors! Your service was top class, and much appreciated! Thank you!
Pros: Your service made the difference!
Cons: No same day delivery - yet! (I have no "cons"! Thank you!)
Here's what I did: I took all the music I had in my iTunes library, uploaded to Google Play Music for free, and then tell my phone to stream it right off of my Sonos. Or my phone into earbuds. Or from my desktop when I'm at work. No $8 or $10 per month, my music, where and whenever I want it. Most importantly, I don't need to leave my computer running with iTunes up or buy NAS storage. How I ended up with a Sonos: we rearranged our living room and my old stereo amp didn't fit anymore. Began looking for something else to power my bookshelf speakers... tried a mini amp + apple TV + iTunes Match and the usability was clunky and unreliable. The deal-breaker was no volume control from the phone app. Switched to Google Play + Sonos and everything just worked. Others might compete on bulletpoint features, but I'm fairly convinced only Sonos has the entire experience down right. While there's room for some improvements on the app (which is why I've given 4/5 stars), but the core functionality is there, reliable, and pretty darn smooth. What I use it for: streaming NPR and college radio, Pandora, and Google Play Music. I plugged it right into my router, skipping the bridge. Audiophile reviews describe the amplifier as "transparent" with respect to the sound quality, and I guess I agree. I think I was getting a slightly nicer sound off my old stereo (a Yamaha), but not by enough to notice or really care about.
Pros: - Keep your speakers & get more sound than even the largest spearkful Sonos - Playing music really, really just works - Lots of music services to choose from - App should continue to improve - small footprint, looks presentable in living room
Cons: - App isn't perfect yet, though it's quite good (What I'd especially love is if I could have a bookmark for genres of Google Music in the Favorites section) - Weirdly, little white light is just eternally on, unless you tell it to turn it off. Why not show idle/sleep mode? - Doesn't work with iTunes Match or Airplay... BUT I wasn't thrilled with either of those services in the end, because I had to leave my computer on and the AppleTV was slow & unreliable for match. So you're not missing m
Came super fast.. and great price !
This amp was just what I needed. I am using it to send music to ceiling speakers in a psychology office where we needed a little extra help to muffle conversations behind closed doors. The staff were exceptionally helpful and quickly understood my needs. The Sonos is just as easy as they said it would be to install and use, and the program download was quick and works well. We had access to more free stations than I expected which reduced my monthly costs. No regrets on this one, wish I ordered it sooner!
Pros: Attractive, compact, simple to use, works very well
Cons: Haven't found any, yet!
This works great. Hooked it up to a big pair of in wall speakers. Easy to set up. A little pricey but beats buying a big amp to run the system.
Pros: Plenty of power for a big pair of speakers (in wall). Easy set up.
Cons: A little pricey
We moved into a new house which had built in speakers already and this connected them up and away we went. So easy, great sound and really broadened our already cool Sonos system. Now the house is totally tricked out for sound. My kids think I am weird but I love it!!!
Pros: Easy, quick, no hassle, attractive appearance
Sonos connect amp exceeded my expectations. I enjoy quality sound, but don't consider myself a hard core audiophile. I have all my CDs on a synology NAS in FLAC format and had been looking for an easy way to access those files. I keep looking for a network DLNA compatible mini system, but could never find one that included all the online content I was looking for as well as NAS file access. The Connect amp does it. Only negative is that is doesn't come with a remote, but all the reviews on network access receiver with remotes always complain about how small the screens are and how difficult they are to view. I ended up getting an old model android 8" tablet to use as a dedicated around the house remote (Lenovo yoga 8 at a blue box store) and love it. It has 18 hour battery life so it will easily last a week between charging and really having the tablet as the remote lets you hide the sonos box where ever you like as long as it has enough cooling airflow. The newer app (Aug 2014) is great and easy to use / setup. I really like how it has a "cue" of music that you can add to... load up what you feel like listening to for while and then you don't have to do anything, but you can insert a song in that cue any time that you feel like something specific. Very happy with the purchase and I am not considering a connect for the main stereo system in the house.
Pros: sound quality easy of use app funciton
I've been a audiophile for over 20 year and like quality equipment. I've had 2 Polk Audio Atrium 5 indoor/outdoor speakers for a couple of years now and finally decided too install them outside near the new deck. The speaker wires go into a closet on a shelf were a old stereo receiver used to be. I decided to make things easier assuming the SONOS Connect:AMP will help. After you plug the AMP into the wall outlet it was as easy as 1234. 1-Connect speaker wires. 2-connect internet to AMP. 3-Load smart phone with SONOS App. 4-Sync to amp. Now I can be outside on the deck or anywhere playing music from my smart phone. SONOS app has tons of music options including my playlist and my favorite, Pandora.
Pros: It's Small. Quality D Class Amplifier. Amazing Wireless control. EZ Install. Sounds Great. Has Sub out. Many music and talk radio choices.
Cons: Could use more power.
WOW! Incredibly easy to setup. The sonos app walks you through it. I am blown away by this product and how simple it is to use. This was my first purchase with Crutchfield and definitely won't be my last.
Easy set-up. Basically plug and play. Compact size yet powerful sound. I'm using it with my Bose speakers and it's awesome. Allows me to use my CD's, Pandora and SirusXM, Easy to control with the Sonos app on my iPad and iPhone. I can't say enough positive things.
Easiest thing in the world to set up and use!
Set up not as easy as touted but. Crutchfield stepped in and we got it working quickly.
Pros: Allows me to use built-in home speakers without expensive audio equipment. Works flawlessly once I got the set up right.
Cons: Little pricey when you consider it only supports 2 speakers and 1 zone.
This system is awesome. There is nothing else like it out there.
Pros: Phone connectivity and flawless operation.
Cons: Too easy!
I purchased the connect:amp so that I could run outdoor speakers through Sonos. Like other Sonos components, it is ridiculously easy to set up and works instantly. I personally wish that there was more power per channel and that you could run more than a single pair of speakers through the amp (and control each pair seperately). That being said, it is great overall.
Pros: Ease of setup and use Wireless control of speakers
Cons: Only 2 speaker outlets 50w per channel
I've now installed my 3rd Sonos Connect AMP to drive the speakers on my deck (in addition to the ones by the pool and our great room). Absolutely the easiest thing ever to install. Provides plenty of power to drive the speakers with outstanding sound quality. I only wish I didn't have thousands of dollars of audio equipment in my basement.
Cons: I honestly can't think of a con other than they could be priced a bit better. But still worth the money.
Love the stability and flexibility of the amp, nice for ambient speakers (I have 2 sets powering outdoor speakers)
Pros: Control via Sonos app, sound quality, equalization control
Cons: Not quite enough power
I added two sonos amps to our existing system. To power built in surround speakera as well as outdoor patio speakers. They set up in a couple of minutes and work very well. My only complaint is the price. If you want a quality product with great software sonos is your product. As for Crutchfield! Yeah they are the only company I trust enough to make expensive audio purchases over the internet.
Pros: Quality, ease of use, wireless
The Sonos system simplifies my home audio requirements. Everybody is happy.
Already had a pair of Bose outdoor speakers; however, connecting them to the Sonos system has made my back yard and extension of the house. I hesistated purchasing the AMP for a few years due to price. I finally caved in and did the install myself. What a big difference this has made!
Pros: Easy to install
Lucy (Crutchfield pro) originally explained the SONOS system to me. I bought a bridge and this CONNECT:AMP to check it all out. My background was that I have lots of OLD, but great audio equipment (Macintosh, Thorens, Denon, Nakamichi, Sony, B&O, Cambridge audio, Marantz). And a medium sized collection of CDs, cassettes and vinyl. The SONOS system is working great for me and I now have 5 CONNECT:AMPS, a PLAYBAR and just added a PLAY3 for ease of portability. In order to not need even more, I cheaped out and have several speaker AB switches installed so that I can double the number of locations served by each AMP. After all, we aren't ever listening in all the rooms. This allows us to select music room or home gym; guest room 1 or guest room 2; office or master bedroom; etc. I hope I don't end up ever needing to have music in more that 6 locations at once. I have converted my ~1000 CDs to flac files on a wireless audio server. I am in the process of converting vinyl in the same way. Even my wife, who likes Music and hates technology, can use the SONOS controlers. Quality is fantastic
Pros: Flawless sound (to my ear); Very high quality components; Easy to use. Unbelievable selection of online music libraries, and most are commercial free.
Cons: Addictive. You might as well plan on having it everywhere. Indoor living spaces, bedrooms, bathroom (I never expected that), and outdoors. Power is always on and these are warm/hot. Since they are in the basement or attic, I'd rather that they actually powered down somehow. No way to group on line music sources like I can with my audio file collection. For example, I'd like to sort them by GENRE rather than need to look at all my classical, rock, Christmas, etc, when all I want is to selec
Easy Set-Up and combined with a previously purchased Play 5, I now have multi-room music! Quick free shipping from Crutchfield...arrived next day.
Pros: It just works
I don't know how I survived without these. We have 8 pair of wired speakers and I plan to buy an amp for every pair!
Pros: Easy to install. Easier to configure.
Cons: Price. Need a single unit that can drive multiple speaker pairs.
Lives up to expectations. Added to existing SONOS equipment, making it my 5th zone.
Pros: Easy to install and configure. Great sound. Easy to operate.
The SONOS ConnectAMP is a straightforward way to connect your speakers, either existing or newly added to your receiver or the internet. I used this in conjunction with a SONOS Bridge connected to my router to stream online audio (Pandora or similar) into various areas of my home. The Crutchfield team was extremely helpful in the selection process and advice as to what I needed to make my existing system work. The sound quality is excellent, and with the SONOS software, very versatile.
Pros: Easy to set up and use, small footprint, good sound quality
Cons: Might be a little costly for some folks, but good value for money
This was my first Sonos purchase and I couldn't be happier. I decided to install ceiling speakers to conceal the speakers. When I received the Sonos amp, it took less than 5 minutes to have music playing through the speakers. Note that you can connect 4 speakers (2 speaker wires per channel).
Pros: Very easy setup. Has plenty of power for 4 speakers.
Cons: High cost, but to be expected for an awesome product.
We moved into a home with full audio capabilities for each room; however, needed Sonos or similar device to use it. Fantastic product. Easy installation and love that we could take it with us to another home if we were to move. Crutchfield delivery was on-time and well-packaged. Couldn't ask for much more.
Pros: Easy install. Moveable.
I feel like I have only scratched the surface of what this thing can do! It is very impressive. My new favorite toy!
Pros: Super Cool!
Cons: The learning curve (but that's on me).
Great product! Easy to install and easy to operate
Awesome product! I love being able to access my music library so easily & listen to it in all the rooms of my house. So convenient to control from my iPad . I love it,
Pros: Easy to use, great sound
Cons: A bit costly but well worth it
I swapped a lot of equipment running my whole house system....wife found old system complicated... This is simple and sounds fantastic. I use existing in wall and in ceiling speakers as well as some bookshelves and floor standing speakers throughout the house whose wires all run to a central location where the old system was. Purchased 6 connect Amps for 6 zones, expensive but well worth it. Not sure anything beats the simplicity and great sound combo. Will continue to add more zones.
Pros: See review
Had an initial glitch importing my Itunes library. Turns out Mac OSX Leopard 10.5.8 and below have trouble sharing an Itunes library with the Sonos Connect Amp. A $20 upgrade to Snow Leopard was necessary. Both Sonos tech support reps. I dealt with were absolutely first-rate. Sonos Connect Amp is definitely a wife-approved-product. Very attractive and logical menus for iPod Touch, iPhone, and iPad.
I wanted a system that would stream pandora. Sonos system was the perfect solution. Started with a Play 5, was very impressed with the big sound from a small unit. Just added Connect Amp with free Polk Audio speakers. I'll upgrade those later. I am thrilled. Now I can take the Play 5 outside with Connect Amp inside. Awesome! Crutchfield gave outstanding customer service. Having music in the house is a whole new vibe again. I have missed it.
Pros: The simplicity and convenience. Excellent sound quality.
Cons: A little pricey, but well worth it.
I have been so happy that Brian turned me on to the Sonos system. I had a house pre-wired for speakers and the idea of adding zones, but had no idea how much more Sonos is. I purchased a Sonos connect amp to run the patio speakers and a Connect to run the source back thru my 5.1 speakers. Within a week, I added a Play 5 for the portable aspect. Spilt the tunes between rooms, group them together, and pick up any device to control. This is the greatest set up since sliced bread!!
Pros: Price it's awesome!! Functionality! Convenience! Choice!
Cons: Price is high, lets get a system discount going!
The Sonos Connect AMP is a solid piece of gear and what if may lack in Audiophile performance is overcome by it's size and simplicity. Most will never be able to tell any music quality issues. I own several and have closeted all my old recievers and amplifiers. It is just too easy to use.
Pros: Ease of set up, ease of operation, auto on/off, size, power for most speakers, appearance
Cons: A bit pricey. You can buy better performing amps at a cost.
Their are very few items these days that make me say WOW or rave about it. This product is by far one of the top 2 electronic products I have purchased in the last several years that make me smile! I have my sonos hooked up to a set of outside speakers and it powers them beautifully. I went with the AMP version so I did not have to already run in and turn the receiver on and off...and it is well worth that $150. I need to add a new zone to my pool area and plan to buy another one of these soon. I would love to see sonos come up with a wireless outdoor speaker also so i don't have to make a new wire run to the pool...hint hint sonos. Great innovative product I recommend to anyone the ability to control it with your phone/ipad is amazing!
Cons: price is high would love to see it cheaper but i still love it
A perfect system for full control of your in house audio system!
Pros: Easy set up & perfect interface with you iPad or iPhone.
Absolutely amazing system - purchased for my lake house and couldn't be more happy with it.
Pros: Set up, sound quality.
Cons: Price is a little expensive but well worth it.
Sonos system is fantastic, works as advertised. Unbelievably easy to set up sounds great played through Bose outdoor speakers. Easiest way to get whole home audio.
Pros: Ease of use. Great sound
I wasn't convinced this would be powerful enough for four outside speakers but I was wrong! This little unit rocks two levels of speakers (Polk Atrium from Crutchfield) and is more than loud enough for gatherings in our large back yard or quiet background music while dining on our deck. The flexibility to select music from any number of sources makes this a winner. Thanks to the Crutchfield staff for recommending this item!
Pros: Easy set up, flexibility, size, appearance, power (55w). iPhone controller, fast shipping, bonus speakers included!
Cons: Cost - but worth it!
Works as described but had an issue with it being located too far from the bridge. Had to add another bridge
Pros: Simple to set up, decent power
Cons: Could use more power for multiple wired speakers
Bought this to add my system and power outdoor speakers. Great sound and great deal with free speakers.
Pros: Another Sonos Zone
I looked at many distributed audio set-ups and this one hit it out of the park.
Pros: 55 watts per channel. Easy set-up and clear sound.
This sonos system is simply a brilliant Piece of technology.wow!
Pros: Very simple to set up, great quality Worth every penny.
Cons: I should have bought it a year ago None
I've long admired Sonos, but now have my own. The Crutchfield team helped me decide on components and then gave me tech support when I had some minor difficulties (firewall related). The folks were available, easy to talk with and very courteous. My goods were shipped immediately and I had them in 3 days. The Sonos system itself is a gem and I am very pleased with it. I plan to add more components over time.
Pros: Simple install; great audio quality; system flexibility; Sonos app flexibility.
Cons: The firewall issue was surprising, especially given it was "name brand" software (not some off-beat stuff). Not a fault of Crutchfield or Sonos... just a bit of a pain for the hour it took to get through it (with help of both Crutchfield AND Sonos tech support).
Very easy to set up. Range is great, it reaches as far as your wireless network goes. Although a con is having only one speaker output, I used a Russond speaker selector to connect up to 3 speakers to it, and it had enough juice to power all three even in an outdoor location.
Pros: Easy to set up
Cons: Only one speaker output
I have a full-house Sonos setup with four zones currently, including this unit feeding a set of outdoor speakers on my patio. (I have the unit itself in the basement, feeding speaker wires run through the foundation of the house to the patio.) The Sonos system as a whole works great. It is extremely easy to setup and operate, and gives you a wide variety of music sources to choose from in addition to your own digital music library. The sound from this unit is good, and the ability to control the volume independently from iPhone/iPad controller app is a definite plus given the outdoor location. The only thing keeping me from giving this a five-star rating is that the Sonos system as a whole cannot play digital music files above 44.1khz/16-bit resolution. If you plan on playing AAC or MP3 digital music files from iTunes, Amazon, etc., or CDs that you have ripped to your hard drive you will be fine. However, if you are interested in playing some of the 24-bit hi-resolution music that is available today, Sonos will not currently accomodate them.
Pros: Independent volume control, extremely easy setup and use, high quality of construction.
Cons: Does not play digital audio files above 44.1khz/16-bit
Love it, I wish I would have heard about Sonos years ago before I spent thousands on my old system which I'm now replacing.
Installed Sonos in my House in 2008, I want music in every room. To hard wire was costly and had to listen to same song in every room not unless installed multiple receivers also. Crutchfield told me about Sonos and how I could play different music in each room if I wanted not to mention having all my music on my computer. That was amazing to me since I have over 500g of music. Sonos and my iPhone let me play music instantly and find any song by track , artist, album, not to mention part of a name yes it's amazing. Oh also have Internet radio, Pandora is just one of the great music services to you can access. Truly the best and Sonos Tech support is better than Apples support and its free forever. Need I say more. Buy it you won't be disappointed.....
easy, works great
Bought one Sonos zone player 120. It came with complementary Polk speakers. Set-up and integration to my home wifi very painless and simple. Loading and set up of control panel ap to iPhone and iPad easy as well. From box to music: less than 30 min. It found all my iTunes music and i can choose and play music from the ap. Pandora set up and use easy too. Complementary speakers are nothing special but sound fine.
Pros: Amazingly easy to set up. Super cool to control music system from my iPhone. Love it
Cons: iPhone/ iPad interface on control ap needs more UX improvement, but it works.
First let me say that I have no intention of returning my ZonePlayer 120 amp. I'm not sure I could replace it with something that performs nearly as well as it does. But it has not been a painless installation, by far. If you have a large music collection, especially classical music, you may be in for disappointment. Although the player is supposed to support 65,000 songs it cannot handle even my 45,000 songs, because of the amount of metadata that my collection contains. Metadata is the information attached to a particular track (ie. artists, title, album, etc.). Classical music, especially opera, is very heavy on metadata and as a result the system cannot accept my entire collection. I was then diverted to the Amazon Cloudplayer for Sonos as a solution, but after nearly 2 weeks of tedious uploading (Amazon's product is error-ridden, unreliable, slow and confusing) my music still cannot be played or accessed. Sonos customer support is great, but it has been unable to come up with a solution, which it has been working on for 3 weeks. Nor does Sonos apparantly have any plans to increase its memory capacity because doing so will prevent the oldest Sonos systems (10 years old) from working with new equipment. It seems strange that a cutting edge company would limit its product capacity based on equipment that should probably be replaced in the first place. Can you imagine being locked into technology for 10 year old phones, TV's or computers? I hope a solution can be found.
Pros: Wonderful concept. Great for smaller collections that meets Sonos criteria. Awesome, knowledgeable technical support.
Cons: Large music collections be warned. Metadata limitations. Alternative solutions (Amazon Cloudplayer/Windows Mediaplayer) presented by Sonos are not currently adequate. Sonos technical solutions slow in coming. No "hard" fixes for current capacity issues.
Great whole house audio system. I had planned on buying a big receiver and speaker switch system. Crutchfield whole house audio guy asked me if "I was old"! He recommended the Sonos system paired with Cambridge speakers. What a wonderful system. I have 5 zones. It was easy to set up and the problems I did have getting my complete Itunes library to play were cleared up by a great customer service guy who actually called me at a prearranged time to trouble shoot the issues. The sound quality is fantastic, different music, in different rooms, at different volumes, all controlled with my iPhone and iPad! Absolutely fantastic!
Very easy to set up, download, and tie into my MAC Laptop, I-Pad, I-Phone 5, and Desktop... Anywhere in the house, I can turn the volume up, down, or change my music station. I now have XM, Pandora, and I-Tunes library all at the tip of my fingers and can control it anywhere in the house. I just built my house and planned for 9 separate zones (wired with ceiling speakers installed). However, I like to have a few of the rooms on one zone so, after some creative re-arranging on my Sonos main page I can re-name the areas for my designated zones and now my wife can stream from our music library while I catch up on my Patriot Channel 125 talk radio while I'm in the garage. No need for a bridge because CAT-5 is wired to every Sonos 120 zone player. No need for the remote because all my other computers can handle the controls. This is a great system, but it is a little pricey for the simplicity of wireless amplified music. However, in the end it's exactly what I wanted.
Pros: All of the above - minus the cost.
Cons: Cost - sorta....
Reluctant at first to spend the money on the Sonos system, however couldn't be happier. Sonos was a breeze to set up and have my entire library accessible and all zone controllers working within 15 minutes. Very pleased with the level of functionality of the Sonos system. Worth the money.
EXTREMELY easy to use. GREAT product!
I wanted to add music to my outside deck and I wasn't sure what I needed to accomplish the task. The audio system in my home is in the Family Room and is a floor away from the deck, so I didn't want to have to go inside the house every time I wanted to change a radio station or insert a different CD. I called Crutchfield and explained my situation and they pointed me to the Sonos ZP120. Well, I has turned out to be the perfect solution. I got bridge free and upgraded from the free speakers to the 5B65 Russound speakers and it really sounds great. I ripped all my Audio CDs to my PC and now I have access to any of my entire music library (or radio station) via the iPhone or Kindle Fire when I'm sitting on my deck. I plan on adding another ZP120 to power the speakers in my garage and possibly get the Sonos Play:3 to replace the AM/FM radio in my kitchen.
Pros: Easy setup. Compact and hides away neatly on a shelf. Sounds great.
Cons: Pricy, but worth it. Had a little trouble sharing my Music folder on my Vista PC, but Sonos support resolved the problem.
SONOS Delivers After a year of considerations, wondering what is best for multi-zoning I ordered a starter set system including the CONNECT (integrating my Denon AVS-5803 and output to Marantz Stereo amp for the patio Polk Atrium 8's) & some CONNECT:Amps (driving Boston Acoustic rock speakers) to expand my Hi-Fi zones around the pool & garden area. Within minutes of pulling out of the box I had the system up and working and in fact used for a party that night. The next day I was ordering more Amps, and the S3 and S5 speakers to expand my listening zones to expand my listening zones into the MBR and Play Room. For the first time my wife actually uses the system without asking me what to turn on or the complicated remote, while I now have the pleasure of integrating my Denon along with all my components throughout the house, not just a few zones. Next step is to add the kitchen and garage.
Pros: Simple to set up Good interface with IPad, IPhone Fault tolerant network, i.e can pull out a componenet and add back in without system reconfigure Thousands of music sources at a finger tip
Cons: No off switch; I know SONOS claims "off" is an oxymoron Spec info / documentaion fits the Apple model (trust us), but is scary to an audiophile .. it keep me aaway fro over a year, until I decided to just try in (now I want to invest in the company)
The Sonos Connect Amp is excellent! Used with patio speakers, easy to install and the quality is terrific!
Pros: Sound quality, UI via iPhone and iPad makes all the difference
Fast delivery without any issues. The unit is compact efficient, but a little expensive in my opinion. This Zone Player works very well with the right pair of speakers. If you use the free speakers it came with, the sound will be horrible. Remember to match it with good quality speakers. Overall, I am very please with the unit. The music selection is endless and inexpensive. It is easy to use via laptop/desktop.
Pros: Excellent sound, versatility, array of music, easy installation.
This system is awesome. I am using it to power outdoor speakers so I can play my music outside. I can control it from my phone, iPad or computer. It was very simple to set up. I can say nothing negative about it other than it was expensive and buying one Sonos component makes you want another. Even though it was a lot of money, I still consider it to be an excellent value.
Pros: Easy to set up, access to thousands of internet radio and media stations including Pandora, easy to use, gets exponentially cooler as more components are added.
Great product. Flawless and EASY install. Only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that it needs a native Windows Phone Interface.
Pros: Easy Install Integrates with existing Music Library Integrates with other internet and local radio sources Great Support with Android Phones
Cons: Windows Phone Interface lacking
Awesome product. I wanted a system that I could control with an iPad or smartphone around a pool patio area and play Spotify and Pandora. This system delivered big time. Absolutely love the app interface and it works great. No room for improvement.
Pros: Great quality, perfect app, and easy install. Love it.
I purchased a package from Crutchfield that included the CONNECT:AMP, the BRIDGE and the free outdoor speakers. Initially, I only setup the CONNECT:AMP and I was quite impressed with the functions available through the iPad application. Later, I installed the BRIDGE when I added a second CONNECT:AMP and an iPod DOCK. I was so impressed with my first SONOS experience, that I plan to expand the system outdoors with a pair of PLAY speakers. Oh, and somethign for the garage, too. There were issues when Ia ttempted to change out my Wi-Fi router. It seems the SONOS protocol had issues pairing from iPad app to SONOS under the new router defaults. I ahven't yet figured out that issue, but SONOS support offered live telephone support to work through the issue - I just haven't had time to call them. So far, my system uses a SONONS CONNECT:AMP on each floor with pre-wired in-wall speakers. The SONOS DOCK is playable from either zone, as is the LINE-IN from either of the CONNECT:AMP units. I even bridge the zones to have clock chimes fed throughout the house from one of units line-in jacks. Bottom line is that I love these things. I just wish they were more in line with my budget. Ah, who cares about that. I love them!
Pros: Great integration of home digital music library (from disk), iPod player (with DOCK), Internet Radio and free or paid Streaming Services (like Pandora, Rhapsody, etc). Attractive and compact - much smaller and smarter looking than the stereo receivers that I displaced. Clever mesh Wi-Fi network using proprietary SonosOS protocol. Setup is so easy (except for maybe your home router for iPad app) it's truly trivial.
Cons: Costs a lot. Technical documentation is restricted to streaming service developers.
Great product and powered up with no problems. Got some old speakers working that I have had in the garage for over 20 years.
Pros: Works well.
Cons: sonos phone app stopped working and has to be reset often.
I have a screened in patio/porch which leads to my pool deck. I needed a way to have music outside to where I didnt have to keep dragging speakers and things out all the time. I searched for weeks for ideas and used the chat system with Crutchfield. Glad I did. I purchased the Connect AMP, got bridge free and upgraded from the free speakers to the 5B65 Russound speakers. After drilling through the brick and running the wire, it was time to connect the system. Followed the simple instructions and BOOM! My family and I can now hear all the music we want and dont have to blast it loud just to hear it. I was very hesitant at first for the Russound speakers but they sound very good, plenty of bass, in fact they sound quite excellent. I have controllers at my desktop, my Droid and my IPAD2. Cannot go wrong here. wonderful system, sounds great and was here in 3 days from Crutchfield. I will be "jammin" this Memorial day weekend while grilling poolside!!! CHEERS!!
Pros: Sound Simplicity
Great product, very easy to setup and use. The IPAD and Android apps work well giving you lots of flexibility in controlling the Sonos.
Pros: Quick and simple to setup and use.
This is by far some of the best technology available today. We purchased these units for backround music in new retail space. The fact that you can stream music from just about anywhere including you internet ready portable phone/devices is amazing. Setup was a breeze and it exceeds our expectations. We highly recommend this product.
Pros: All controls available from portable devices and easy setup.
I LOVE this product. It does a phenomenal job of playing music the way I like to listen to it (iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, etc). VERY easy to set up and the iPhone & iPad apps are a joy to use. HIGHLY recommend!
Pros: Easy to set up and use. Great interface on the iPhone and iPad apps.
Cons: I only wish there was someway to bridge/connect this to a home theater receiver. But that's not what Sonos is about, so I can't really fault them for not having this functionality.
I was renovating my house and wanted a room-by-room sound system. Crutchfield's advisors talked me into the Sonos products -- which I had never heard of and knew nothing about. On top of that, I was installing the entire thing by myself. They said if I needed any help, just call them back and they'd fill me in. I installed all 5 units and just bought another one for another room. Trust me, in spite of numerous products indicating they are "simple to install", SONOS actually is. This system is pure genius! And (much to my surprise) the system allows room-by-room bass and treble adjustement. Wish I could rate it 6 stars. Oh, and I never did call Crutchfield for advice. Only called them to buy more. P.S. Thanks, Ringo!
Pros: Simple, simple, simple. Sound options are great. Can even set an alarm in any room.
Cons: Occasionally have problems with my iPhone connecting to radio stations, but always clears itself up within a minute or two.
I love this product. I downloaded the APP on my iPhone, installed the included DVD on my computer and pushed two button's on the front of the Sonos Connect AMP. I was listening to music in under three minutes. I started out with two Sonos Connect AMP's and I've already expanded to six in under two months. What an excellent system. Everyone that has visited our home is amazed at the listening options that are available with this system. You can listen to the same music all over the house, or different music in every room all at once. Ringo at Crutchfield recommended this system!!! Thank you so much!!
Pros: Simple setup and easy to install. Its small and designed beautifully. The system is easy to add to and expand.
Cons: The power plug connection port could be a bit more secure, but its nothing that is an issue.
this is great for anyone that does not want to look at wires. I was having my siding re-done on my house and I decided to install some out door speakers in the front and the back of my house. This system is not completely wireless. I needed to run wires from the speakers to the zone player itself which needs to be near a power source. I did need a few hundred feet of high quality speaker wire to do all four speakers. It is great to be able to sit on my front step and/or my back deck and listen to music and control it from my ipad/iphone. It is an amazing innovation! You will love it!
Pros: ease of install, innovative idea, and just all around cool.
Cons: it may be bigger than it appears on the website.
Without a doubt the best purchase i have made in years. Bought the Zone play 120 and the Play 3 speakers, was affraid the speakers would not have good sound being that they were small but they sound great with good bass and highs. Let me tell you, i am an electronics junkie and have probably owned 5 different systems in the past 7 years and this is without a doubt the best i have ever purchased. Sounds amazing and easy to set up. Using the iphone app is awsome and easy to use. I would definately recommend to anyone interested in a wireless system for your home. Almost nothing you cant do with this system. I was in shock with how nice this system is.
When i told my wife i wanted to get this system, she was mad at me for investing $650 but after i installed it, she loves it. We downloaded the controller app on both of our IPhones and we can control the music from there (also my neighbor downloaded the app onto his IPhone. Now when he sneaks over, he makes adjustments to the sound and song selection and my wife thinks i'm doing it and drives her nuts but that was funny) Anyway, the selection of Radio Stations, Internet Music Services plus my music collection gives us the ability to play just about any music under the sun. My home is not big enough to add additional zones, but i can see how that would be great as well. We use it to contol the music in our back yard and it was always a pain to run inside to change the music or be just limited to ITunes. Great system and now all my nieghbors are looking to buy this as i'm the envy of the block!
Really great product, and easy to install. When you have a large home the price does add up you'll probably end up buying more and more of them once you play with it. Free speakers @ Crutchfield are a nice touch as they can't mess with the base price of this product due to supplier restrictions.
The ZP120 I purchased from Crutchfield was for my 12th wired music zone (6 ZP100s, 4ZP 120s, 2 ZP80s), I also have a Play 3 and older S5 (now the Play5) and one zonebridge. As with all my other zones, setup took a matter of minutes. The Sonos Mesh Network makes it simple to add zones either wired or wireless...no need to enter WEP codes, just a few simple touches to the controller and the zoneplayer and before you know it you are in business. Sound quality is excellent (don't skimp on your speakers!) and the ease of combining or dropping zones is unsurpassed. Sonos also makes it easy to build your system gradually. I started out four years ago with three zones in my older home, using the wireless capability of the Mesh Network. In my new home, I was able to wire Cat5 everywhere I needed a zone, eliminating even the remote chance of wireless interference. This easy exapandability makes growing your sytem simple and more affordable. Sonos is designed to be upgraded, not thrown away and replaced like so many other electronics are (as you can see in my equipment list, I still have a number of older models and they work seemlessly with the new stuff as well). This is a great system I highly recomend to any music lover who wants to access their library...as well as all the music services available on the internet in any room in their home. Enjoy!!
Ordered it yesterday. It arrived today. Way to go Crutchfield. As for the Zoneplayer 120. Only had it up and running for an hour or three. It has exceeded my expectations in almost every area. Sounds great. Looks great. Works great. Sonos is setting the standard of what home audio will be in the not too distant future. The only hitch so far has been rather slow performance controlling it from an iPad. But c'mon?!?! Controlling from my wifes' iPad? My Droid? My PC? My wifes' PC? All seamlessly! Interactively! My entire music library with virtually infinite control. Thousands of radio stations? Pandora, et al? And the ability to grow and adapt. An I am confident I will figure out the iPad performance issue eventually. Oh, did I mention it sounds great? My wife, who is as techno-phobic as they come, now wants a ZP90 for the entertainment center and a ZP S5 that she can put out on the deck for parties, or move around the house. I'll try to come back and re-review in a few weeks to see how it holds up.
as advertised. Plug and play with great sound quality and complete access to internet stations and music stored on my pc's
Works Awsome !!!!!!!!!! I have 4 of them. Garage, Basement, Backyard, House. Simple to hookup and simple to use. Well worth the money.
Expensive. Easy set up, I have it powering some outdoor Definitive Tech speakers, sound great. Really is the easiest way to create wireless capabilities. Easily expandable, although adding more zones adds up $$$ quickly. Having an ipod touch/ipad eliminates the need for the Sonos remote saving you money. All around really happy with purchase, and if you are satisfied with Crutchfield customer service than you will absolutely LOVE Sonos service!
Got great advice from Crutchfield on the Sonos product line, which has met all my needs for a multi-room stereo system. Shipping was fast and free. Set up was extremely easy and the sound is great. Will continue to expand my Sonos system over time.
Simply put: It works. Straight out of the box, simple setup and it works. Incredible. Our 'Den' setup uses an older Bose Acoustimass-15* and our portable/ remote is the S5 player. Awesome sound. *The older Bose system works just fine with amplified bass and 2 channel stereo.
have 7 sonos running. it is flawless! Perfect sound, lots of power to each speaker, no fade and unbelievable control and selection
I was enamored of the wireless deal and internet/computer connectivity so took the plunge with my first sonos 120 + a pair of Klipsch RB61's last fall. Wow, the best sounding most fun music system I've ever imagined, let alone owned. I mean in addition to my computer library of music, with a Rhapsody subscription, any song or piece of music is at your fingertips at a moments notice - talk about "taking requests"! So I just set up my second zone on the screened porch - first inside in the great room. Now seeing what the multizone functions can do has just blown me away. the convenience and quality is just outstanding. And the second zone installation took all of 60 seconds after connecting the speakers and plugging it in. Kudos. The "party mode" where you play multiple zones at once is awesome - you can literally walk from one room to another and the music is absolutely perfectly in synch. I would, however, given the product a 4.5 if allowed. I do think it is silly that the zone player boxes do not have a headphone jack. That would be an obvious improvement. Better yet, they should develop a wireless headphone that functions as it's own zone. THAT would be an eloquent thing of beauty.
Recently purchased 2 Sonos 120 zoneplayers from Crutchfield. I dabbled with some of the cheaper competitive products to Sonos looking to save a buck. I REALLY wanted the Sonos though - finally broke down and bought 2 of them. When I got the set instructions - I thought to myself -it can't be THIS easy to setup - I was wrong. Within 10 minutes everything was up and working with my music library on my NAS. I LOVE this system. I love everything about it. It simply does everything well. We use two ipod touches to control the systems along with our computers. If you are even thinking about this unit - but don't want to spend the money - trust me - you will be happy you did. Nothing comes close to the Sonos systems.
Flawless system, each sonos has an amplifier directed at just one set of speakers. works like a charm. we have five sets going and I love the fact I can put the patios on one type of music and the interior of the house on another and control both volume and music individually.
Just set up new sonos system - only one zone. First, the crutchfield folks were great and ran thru step by step setup advice BEFORE I even received it (they called me!). The set up was a breeze and it's been working without a hitch. It is pricey, but it works so well and the controller is so logical, that it feels like you got what you paid for. the only hiccup was that a wireless woofer I had from a samsung sound bar interfered with it. but since I wasn't using the woofer anyway, no big deal. (I have lots of other wireless stuff and nothing else seems to bother sonos. I'll change the woofer's frequency and see if works. Sonos is a Great system, can't wait to add another zone on my screened porch in the Spring... but will be adding the S5 prior for a "wandering" zone before then....
