TomTom's XL 340 • S navigator gives you the big picture with a 4.3" widescreen touch display and text-to-speech voice prompts. The detailed maps of the entire United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and much of Mexico offer easy-to-follow routes and access to 7 million points of interest. You can find fuel, lodging, food, camping, and other nearby attractions and services with just a few taps of the finger, and you can upload custom destinations for future reference.
Stay on course
The XL 340 • S offers helpful features to get you to your destination without fuss. The text-to-speech voice prompts announce the actual street name at upcoming turns, so you'll hear "turn right on Main Street," instead of "take the next right." Advanced lane guidance directs you to the proper lane for upcoming maneuvers so you won't miss a turn. And TomTom's IQ Routes technology saves you time by finding the quickest route to your destination using actual average travel speeds rather than posted speed limits. If it sees that a shorter route to your destination is backed up, it'll automatically seek a better way there.
Keep your maps up-to-date
TomTom's MapShare software lets you fix map inaccuracies on the spot, instead of waiting for the next update. You can edit speed limits, points of interest, street names and directions, and more right on your XL 340 • S. You can also report the error directly to TomTom online and choose to share the fix with other TomTom users. TomTom verifies all changes so you can import edits made by others to your navigator.
Extras that enhance your journeys
The "Help Me!" feature provides one-touch information for nearby emergency services, including phone numbers for rapid response. TomTom's EasyPort mount folds away for convenient storage and transport between vehicles. Plan trips with TomTom's free HOME software suite, which also allows you to update your navigator, and contact other TomTom users. You can add an optional traffic-information receiver to the XL 340 • S for time-saving updates on congestion along your travel path.

Difficult to use.
Great unit, nice features, and easy operation. Works great. Excellent GPS for the price.
Very easy to use and to figure out. I bought this for my mom who is not very tech savvy and it's extremely easy to use. I had a little trouble figuring out how to increase the volume but once I got that where we needed it everything else was simple. I highly recommend this product.
This is a great portable GPS unit. It was very easy to set up and the size is perfect. It just sits in our glove box until we need it.
Excellent Product so far. The advanced lane guidance is a great feature. As usual Crutchfield can't be beat. The service and speed of delivery are excellent.
it's ok but gives wrong directions more than other brands i'v tried. if i would have not gotten it on sale i would have bought another brand.it.s ok i guess not really impressive.
We purchased this unit as our first GPS (used many, just never owned one until now). Reviews rated it well, and for the small amount we've used it, its been nice. But be careful... I attempted to update the maps with user feedback (included feature) before leaving on a trip and the unit froze. Upon restarting it, we found that it had somehow erased all maps on it. We didnt have time to fix the problem, so we went without on our trip. (I had followed all of their instructions completely.) Crutchfield tech support was unable to help me, and suggested I call TomTom directly. TomTom tech support was very good, but this problem did require formatting the unit, redownloading and installing, etc and took about 3 hours total to fix. The TomTom software stinks, so if you choose to use it I would give yourself plenty of time and back up the unit IMMEDIATELY in case you have a problem. It sounds like if you lose your maps they want top charge you $100+ to replace- they fixed mine because it was within a few days of purchase. Unit seems to work well in our limited use, and now we're happy with it. It should also be said that while Crutchfield tech support couldn't help me, they said they would gladly exchange the unit if I wanted to go that route.
Great GPS, works as described. Fast delivery and price at Crutchfield.
My first GPS, so not a lot to compare it to. In order to get the full menu of driving assistance, you have to choose the "computer voice". In one instance the tomtom chose a route that I know is far from the fastest and I do not know it's rationale for doing so. Not dependable out in the boonies, but same can be said of other brands, too. That said, I am happy with the unit, it was a good price, and Crutchfield is quite simply the best place to get any electronic gear from!
