Convenient iTunes® playback with AirPlay®

Apple's easy-to-use AirPlay technology lets you access your favorite music wirelessly from your iPhone®, iPad®, or iPod touch®. You'll be able to control iTunes and see music information — including album art, track titles, and artist info on your compatible Apple device, or on your TV. Of course you can connect your iPod easily to the front-panel USB port's direct digital connection. You'll love the great sound as your music gets the top-notch treatment of the receiver's audio circuitry instead of the iPod's. AirPlay requires a wireless home network and a wired connection between the receiver and network.

Take control with your smartphone

Download a free app and your Android™ or iPhone® becomes a convenient Wi-Fi® remote. This intuitive app is unimpeded by the obstacles that block line-of-site reception for typical infrared-based remotes, so you can be in the bedroom and turn up the sound in the living room without touching the receiver. Requires connection to a wireless home network.

The bottomless playlist

With the click of a cable in the rear Ethernet port you literally open a door to a world of music. Choose from thousands of Internet radio stations or explore online services like SiriusXM or Pandora Internet radio. You can even stream music and pictures from your home network.

Take your records out for a spin

For vinyl fans, there's nothing else like it. The Marantz SR7007 has a dedicated input for your turntable. Whether you're new to hot wax, thumbing through albums older than your kids or grabbing some bargains at a yard sale, this receiver stands ready for you and your favorite tracks.

Quick and easy setup and control

The Marantz SR7007 has an on-board setup assistant to help you make all the right connections for your system. Use the supplied microphone to analyze sound from different listening positions, then sit back as the receiver automatically adjusts level, equalization, and delay settings for each of your speakers. The result is accurate response across a wide listening area instead of just a single "sweet spot," so everyone in the room can enjoy precisely balanced home theater sound.

This was supposed to replace an older Marantz that had no HDMI ports. It arrived damaged, but the sounds was still awesome. I almost kept the broken unit just for the sound.

    Audio Features

Fully Discrete 7-Channel Amplifier: The Marantz SR7007 AV Surround Receiver is equipped with a power amplifier that plays back high-fidelity sound in surround mode with equal quality and power for all channels, true to the original sound. The receiver's power amplifier circuit adopts a discrete-circuit configuration that achieves high-quality surround sound playback. Each of the SR7007's seven amplifiers is built with the finest discrete components, not off-the-shelf "Power Pack" ICs. As a result, each amplifier delivers 125 continuous watts over the entire audio bandwidth accurate, deep bass and natural, unforced mid and high frequencies. The Marantz AV Surround Receiver's 7-channel amplifier is rated at 125 watts (into 8-ohms, at 20Hz-20kHz, with 0.08% THD, driving 2 channels).

Amplifier Assignment: The SR7007 supports up to 7.2 channels (Front L/R, Center, Surround L/R, Surround Back L/R, and SW) for surround playback defined by the Blu-ray disc format. The seven amplifier channels built into the receiver are typically used for 7.2 channel surround in the main room, but there are various amplifier configurations to accommodate your home theater setup:

    • Normal: The SR7007 is designed to be used as a 7.2ch surround sound receiver with front left/right, center-channel, surround left/right, and surround back left/right channels along with a preamp subwoofer output.
    • Bi-Amp: You can configure the amplifier for front bi-amp operation to achieve a higher-quality 2-channel sound by connecting the receiver's front and surround back channels to your main front speakers (if compatible). Receiver will be limited to 5.2ch surround.
    • Front Height: To enjoy Dolby Pro Logic IIz,  you can reassign the power amp from the two surround back channels to the two front height channels for better front effects.
    • Front Wide: To enjoy Audyssey DSX, you can reassign the power amp from the two surround back channels to the two front wide channels for better front effects.
    • Zone 2: The surround back channel amplifier can also be assigned to power stereo speakers in Zone 2. Receiver will be limited to 5.2ch surround.
    • Zone 3: The surround back channel amplifier can be assigned to power stereo speakers in Zone 2. The main zone is limited to 5.2ch.

Note: There is also Front L/R Speaker B terminals to connect a second pair of front speakers in another room or the same room. You can only select A or B speakers; you cannot select both, nor play them simultaneously.

Current Feedback Topology: The Marantz SR7007 uses a high-speed current feedback amplifier circuit for its preamplifier so that audio signals from a Blu-ray Disc player and other equipment that support high-definition audio formats can be amplified with high fidelity. Current Feedback technology offers faster signal handling and extended frequency range. Current feedback circuits track rapid sonic changes more accurately and thus sound more natural. Current feedback topology insures astounding accuracy and control even under high-drive conditions.

Isolated Audio Circuit Board: The carefully-optimized audio signal path rests on a separate circuit board for maximum performance as well as isolation from interferences generated by high-speed video processing.

HDAMs (Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Modules): The SR7007 utilizes Marantz's proprietary HDAM (Hyper-Dynamic Amplifier Module) circuits for dynamic music and soundtrack reproduction. HDAMs combine the short signal path advantages of ICs (integrated circuit) and op-amps (operational amplifier) with the superior sound quality of separate circuit components. An HDAM's size is important, particularly in an A/V receiver where space is very limited. Because HDAMs are discrete designs, Marantz engineers are free to choose the parts best able to preserve the sonic details of your favorite sources.

High Current Power Supply: The Marantz SR7007 AV surround receiver employs a high current linear power supply with an EI core power transformer for high-quality sound playback.

24-bit/192-kHz DACs: The Marantz SR7007 utilizes a 192 kHz/24 bit D/A converter on each of the unit's seven channels for exceptional sound quality. The 192kHz sampling and 24-bit word length capabilities of the DACs allows you to play high-resolution recordings and hear the increased clarity, detail and dynamic range of those recordings.

Audyssey Technology: The Marantz SR7007 features a full package of Audyssey audio technologies for optimal sound quality.

    • Audyssey MultEQ XT: Audyssey MultEQ XT technology helps create an optimal acoustic profile for your home theater. Using the included setup microphone, Audyssey MultEQ XT measures sound levels and adjusts speaker configuration accordingly, making setup fast and easy. This room acoustic measuring and correction system analyzes (via the included microphone) the audio characteristics of your speaker system and your listening environment at up to 8 measurement points and automatically tailors the sound for top audio fidelity. You can set the Audyssey MultEQ XT to one of the following modes.
      • Audyssey: Optimizes the crossover point, output level, delay time, and equalization of all speakers based on speaker frequency response, speaker location, and room acoustics.
      • Audyssey Bypass L/R: Optimizes all speakers except front left and right.
      • Audyssey Flat: Optimizes frequency response of all speakers to flat.
      • Manual: Adjusts the tonal quality for each speaker individually using the manual equalizer settings; adjust from -20 to +6 dB at 63 Hz, 125 Hz, 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz, 4 kHz, 8 kHz, and 16 kHz.
      • Off: Turns equalizer off.
Dynamic EQ: Audio engineers mix music and movie soundtracks at reference levels much louder than typical home listening levels. At lower volumes the human ear perceives sound differently; voices change, bass dissipates, and the surround effect becomes less enveloping. Dynamic EQ adjusts the frequency response curve based on volume to maintain consistent bass output, octave-to-octave balance, and surround impact, resulting in rich sound at any volume. You can set the Dynamic EQ to 0, 5, 10, or 15 dB.
    • Audyssey Dynamic Volume: Audyssey Dynamic Volume solves the problem of large variations in volume level between television programs, commercials, and between the soft and loud passages of movies. Dynamic Volume addresses the issue of commercials that are too loud and movie soundtracks with vast differences between soft and loud passages; the results are more intelligible dialogue, loud passages maintain impact, and soft whispers are heard clearly. When the volume level changes, Dynamic EQ also adjusts the frequency response to maintain sound quality. You can set the Dynamic Volume to Day (low), Evening (middle), Midnight (high), or off.
    • Audyssey DSX (Dynamic Surround Expansion): Audyssey DSX is a scalable surround exposition system that adds new channels to improve the surround impression. Based on research in human hearing, Audyssey DSX add a pair of Wide channels in the front because that information is critical in the rendering of a realistic soundstage. Audyssey DSX then adds a pair of Height channels above the main front channels to reproduce the next most important acoustical and perceptual cues related to soundstage depth. In addition to creating these new channels, Audyssey DSX applies Surround Envelopment Processing to enhance the blend between the front and side/back surround channels. The result is a much more seamless and enveloping home theater experience.

Digital Signal Processing (DSP): The Marantz SR7007 is equipped with a high-resolution SHARC 32-bit Digital Signal Processor (DSP). All elements of the Surround Processor are optimized to the highest standards by the use of selected high performance and discrete components, particularly the A/D and D/A converters and the sophisticated DSP surround decoder. The SR7007 is equipped with various surround modes to reproduce a variety of surround sound effects, according to the content of the source to be played. The AV surround receiver features Dolby Digital and DTS-HD decoding, as well as offers Dolby Pro Logic audio processing.

Note: Dolby Digital and DTS listening modes can only be selected if your audio source is connected to the A/V receiver via a digital audio connection (HDMI, optical, or coaxial). To enjoy true 7.1ch Dolby Digital TrueHD and DTS-HD surround sound, the receiver must be connected to your Blu-ray player via HDMI.

Surround Parameters: You can adjust the following surround mode parameters:

    • Dolby Pro Logic II Music Settings: While listening in the Dolby Pro Logic II Music format, there are three further enhancements you can adjust:
      • Panorama: Broadens the front stereo image to the surround speakers to provide a wraparound effect, especially effective when there is limited output from the surround channels, panorama can be turned on/off in the menu.
      • Dimension: Allows you to move the sound field forward or backward.
      • Center Width: Allows you to adjust the width of the center channel.
    • Center Image: In the Neo:6 Music mode, the Center Image feature adjusts the output of the left and right channels relative to the center channel, allowing you to make the center channel more or less dominant as needed. This improves the image of the center channel, especially when the listener is off-center. Adjustment varies from 7 (nothing subtracted from the L/R channels) to 0 (L/R channel output is cut in half).
    • Height Gain: Adjust the volume (Low/Mid/High) of the Front Height channels in Dolby Pro Logic IIz.
    • Stage Height/Width: Adjust the sound stage width/height (+/-10dB) when using Front Height or Front Wide speaker in Audyssey DSX.

Stereo Modes: The Marantz SR7007 surround receiver also provides two-channel stereo and multi-channel stereo playback, as well a virtual surround from two stereo speakers.

    • 2CH Stereo: This is the mode for playing in 2-channel stereo; bass and treble can be adjusted and sound is output from the front left and right speakers, along with a connected subwoofer.
    • Multi-Channel Stereo: This mode lets you enjoy stereo sound from all speakers.
    • Virtual Speaker: Enjoy surround effects using only the front speakers or headphones.

Direct Modes: The Marantz SR7007 offers two Direct sound modes which offer high-quality sound by bypassing the receiver's DSP & video circuitry.

    • Source Direct: In this mode the 2ch audio signal is played in its original form, without any surround or tone processing. Multichannel audio signal is played in its original form, without any tone processing.
    • Pure Direct: This mode is for playback in higher sound quality than in Direct mode. The display and analog video circuitry are turned off to minimize the possibility of any noise being added to the signal.

M-DAX: Compressed audio formats such as MP3, WMA (Windows Media Audio) and MPEG-4 AAC reduce the amount of data by eliminating signal components that are hard for the human ear to hear. The M-DAX function generates the signals eliminated upon compression, restoring the sound to conditions near those of the original sound before compression. It also corrects the sense of volume of the bass to obtain richer sound with compressed audio signals.

HT-EQ: The tonal balance of a film soundtrack will be excessively bright and harsh when played back over audio equipment in the home. This is because film soundtracks were designed to be played back in large movie theater environments. Activating the receiver's HT-EQ feature when watching a film made from movie theaters corrects this and restores the correct tonal balance.

Dynamic Range Compression (DRC): Motion picture soundtracks have tremendous dynamic range (the contrast between very soft and very loud sounds). For listening late at night, or whenever the maximum sound level is lower than usual, Compressing the dynamic range allows you to hear all of the sounds in the soundtrack with reduced dynamic range. DRC works when playing program sources recorded in Dolby Digital or DTS.

Tone Settings: You can independently adjust the system's overall Bass and Treble settings from -6 to +6 dB. You can also fade the sound from front to rear, or vice-versa.

Level Adjustments:  The SR7007 provides the following level adjustments.

    • Source Level: This function adjusts the playback level of the currently selected input source's audio input. Use this feature if there are differences in the input volume levels between different sources. You can correct the playback level of the audio input from -12 to +12dB.
    • Dialogue Level: You can adjust the output level (+/-12dB) to clarify the dialogue output from the center channel.
    • Subwoofer Level: You can set the receiver's subwoofer output level (+/-12dB) independent from the other speaker levels and system's main volume.

Volume Settings: The SR7007 offers the following volume settings.

    • Volume Scale: You can choose to display an Absolute volume scale (0-98) or Relative volume scale (-79.5 to 18dB).
    • Volume Limit: You can set a maximum volume level of 0dB (80), -10dB (70), or -20dB (60) to limit the receiver's total volume output.
    • Turn-On Volume: You can define the volume setting that is active when the power is turned on (0, 1-98, -79 to +18dB, or Last)
    • Mute Level: You can set the amount of attenuation for the audio muting circuit; -40dB or -20dB below current volume, or full mute (sound turned off entirely).

Audio Inputs/Outputs: The Marantz AV receiver offers a variety of analog and digital audio inputs/outputs.

    • Assignable Digital Inputs: The SR7007 features two optical digital (Toslink) inputs and two coaxial digital inputs. Each input can be assigned to any of the different input sources except Tuner.
    • Phono Input: The Marantz SR7007 is fitted with a Phono input (MM), so you can connect your turntable and listen to your vinyl records with high-quality sound.
    • 7.1 Channel Input: The SR7007 features a 7.1 Channel input (Front left, Front right, Center, Surround left, Surround right, Surround Back left, Surround Back right and Subwoofer) for connecting a DVD Audio player, Super Audio CD multi-channel player, or other component that has a multi-channel port so you can playback the audio with 5.1 channel or 7.1 channel surround sound. If you will not be using the 7.1 channel input with a multi-channel decoder, you can use the front and left inputs as an auxiliary input.
    • 7.2ch Pre-Out: The A/V receiver features 7.2ch pre-amp outputs (Front L/R, Center, Surround L/R, Surround Back L/R, and Dual Subs) for connection to external power amplifiers.
    • Speaker Terminals: The receiver has binding-post terminals for all speaker connections. The binding-post terminals can accept bare wire, pin connectors, and banana plugs (single only). The receiver will accept speaker impedances of 6 to 8-ohm.
    • Headphone Output: The receiver features a 1/4" stereo headphone jack on its front panel for connecting a pair of optional headphones. The unit's speakers will automatically be turned off when a set of headphones are connected.

    Video Features

HDMI (v1.4) with Triple Outputs: With seven HDMI ver.1.4 inputs (6 rear/1 front), the Marantz SR7007 allows you to route multiple high-definition devices--like game consoles and Blu-ray players--to your TV. It also allows you to connect all of your devices to your TV with a single HDMI cable (via its three 3 HDMI outputs; two parallel and one discrete), reducing cable clutter. The two parallel HDMI outputs distribute the same video signal simultaneously to two separate displays. The discrete HDMI output allows you to play a different audio/video source in another zone. The HDMI inputs are assignable to different input sources. They support HDCP copyright protection and are compatible with 3D signals, ARC, Deep Color, xvYCC technology, Auto LipSync, and HDMI control.

Note: The AV receiver's HDMI jacks do not support the latest HDCP 2.2 copyright protection for 4K ultra-HD content, so it will not support 4K content from satellite/cable providers, online video services, and Blu-ray disc which are copyright protected with HDCP 2.2.

Analog Video Inputs: The receiver features four composite video inputs (3 rear/1 front) and one composite video monitor output. There are also two component video inputs (60MHz) and one component video output.

Analog-to-HDMI Conversion w/ Video Scaling (4K): The SR7007 is equipped with a flexible video switching system that converts incoming analog video signals to HDMI and scales them to a higher resolution, so only one video connection is required from the receiver to the TV. HDMI input video signals can also be scaled to a higher resolution. The scaled output resolution is set in the receiver's menu.

    • Composite Video to HDMI: Composite video signals (480i only) can be scaled to 480p, 720p, 1080i, 108p, or 4K through the receiver's HDMI output.
    • Component Video to HDMI: Component video signals (480i/480p/720p/1080i/1080p) can be scaled to 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p or 4k through the receiver's HDMI output.
    • HDMI to HDMI: HDMI video signals (480i/480p/720p/1080i/108p/4K) can be scaled to 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p, or 4k through the receiver's HDMI output.

Note: The receiver's multi-zone HDMI output does not support analog-to-HDMI conversion.

3D Pass-Through: With the advent of 3D media, it is important to own a receiver that recognizes 3D video signals. The SR7007 is able to pass through 3D signals from your Blu-ray player, ensuring that the 3D effect doesn't get lost in translation. It also recognizes signals from 3D television broadcasts. By connecting a 3D-compliant Blu-ray disc player and 3D-compliant TV to the SR7007, you will have a 3D home theater where you can enjoy high-definition sound and video on a level you've never experienced before.

ARC (Audio Return Channel): This feature allows audio to be sent from your compatible HDTV to your receiver through the same HDMI cable already being used to send audio and video to your HDTV. This eliminates the need for extra cables connected to your television.

Deep Color & x.v.Color Support: The SR7007 also supports Deep Color and x.v.Color content, which can display a larger color range than standard-definition schemes. The result is a more lifelike, vibrant picture.

Auto LipSync: This feature automatically compensates for the timing shift between the audio and video of the receiver. If needed, the audio signal can be manually delayed to match the video signal; adjust from 0-200ms.

HDMI Standby Pass-Through: When the AV receiver is in "Standby" mode and the HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is enabled, both audio/video streams from the receivers HDMI input will be output to your television, via the AV receiver's HDMI monitor output. Once the receiver is turned "On", only video will pass through the monitor output to your TV and the audio is directed to the receiver's speaker outputs.

    • HDMI Input: Selects the HDMI Input for which the HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is enabled.
    • Last: The HDMI Standby-Through function is activated on the input source selected at the time of setting the AV receiver to the "Standby" mode.
    • Off: The HDMI Standby Pass-Through function is disabled.

Video Mode: You can select between 3 video processing settings.

    • Auto: Processes video automatically based on the HDMI content information.

AirPlay Compatible: AirPlay lets you stream your favorite songs directly from your Apple iOS (4.3+) device or from your iTunes (10.1+) library on your Windows PC or Mac computer to the AV receiver, over your home's wireless network connection. From your Apple iOS device you are able to stream stored music on your device, downloaded music apps, and music on your iCloud to the AV receiver. From your Windows or Mac you can stream your stored iTunes music library on your computer to the AV receiver; you can even download Apple's free Remote App onto your compatible iOS device to browse and control playback functions of the the music stored in your iTunes music library on your computer that is being streamed to the AV receiver. With AirPlay you also get to see song/artist information and album art via the receiver's on-screen menu (via HDMI).

Note: To use the AirPlay feature you need a Mac or Windows-based PC running iTunes (10.1 or later) connected to your wireless home network. Your iPod touch, iPhone, and iPad must have iOS 4.3 or later installed and connected to the same wireless home network.

    Convenience Features

Front Panel Design: The receiver's front panel features a combination of aluminum extrusion and glass-reinforced resin which shields internal circuitry and absorbs internal and external resonances. The front panel is clean, precise, and inviting. Volume and input selection knobs flank a round volume/source display. A drop- down door hides secondary controls and connectors to maintain that classic look while providing easy access to the extensive features of the SR7007.

Note: The receiver's front-panel LCD window only displays source input and volume. You will need to connect this receiver up to your TV via HDMI to configure speaker, network, input, and system settings through the AV receiver's on-screen menu.

On-Screen Menu w/ Setup Wizard (via HDMI): The AV receiver's on-screen menu provides quick information about your system's settings. You can easily make settings for your home theater system while viewing menus on the TV screen. Simple settings are enabled with the setting menus displayed on the TV screen. The Marantz SR7007 features an on-screen Setup Wizard that provides easy-to-follow setup instructions. When you control the sound volume, the volume level is displayed on the screen, and when you switch the input source, the name of the input source is displayed. These menu displays can only be output to your TV via HDMI. If you connect the receiver to your television via only composite video, you will need to use the A/V receiver's front-panel display for menu and source adjustments.

Three Zone/Three-Source: Marantz's Multi-Zone/Multi-Source function lets you select different audio/video sources for listening and viewing in different locations of your home. The SR7007 features a Main Zone (audio/video), Audio/Video Zone (Zone 2), and Audio Only Zone (Zone 3). Furthermore, this unit is equipped with an HDMI Zone 2 output connector for transfer of audio/video from connected HDMI sources to Zone 2. The source can be the same for all zones, or you can enjoy 3 different sources in those zones if you prefer. You can rename each Zone with a 10 character title.

    • Main Zone (Zone 1): The Main Zone offers 7.2-channel playback of all your audio/video gear in your main entertainment room.
    • Audio/Video Zone 2 (with HDMI switching): The Audio/Video Zone 2 allows stereo audio/video playback of another analog A/V source connected to the receiver in another room of your home via left/right RCA audio or speaker terminal output connections and composite, component, or HDMI video. The SR7007 incorporates true multi-zone HDMI audio/video distribution for Zone 2 with the inclusion of its HDMI matrix switching functionality. The receiver can send two different HDMI video feeds to two displays at the same time directly from the receiver. HDMI Zone 2 will also output audio signals (2ch only) for the HDMI input source selected. To enjoy a video source in Zone 2, you must connect the same video connection to your second display monitor as connected to your receiver for that particular source (there is no video-conversion for Zone 2). Zone 2 features either a preamp-output or speaker terminal output so you can use this amp or a separate amp to power speakers in another room. When using the SR7007 to power speakers in a second room of your home, the main zone is restricted to 5.2-channel. When using the receiver's preamp output terminals for the second room you need an additional amplifier in that room to power those speakers; the main Zone of the receiver remains 7.2-channel. The volume of Zone 2 can be controlled by the Marantz receiver using either configuration or from your add-on amplifier when using the line-output. Note: The HDMI Zone 2 function is only compatible with the HDMI 1-6 input connectors. It is not compatible with the HDMI 7 input connector. HDMI Zone 2 does not offer the following setting adjustments -  Picture Adjust, Auto Lip Sync, Video Mode, Video conversion, i/p Scaler, Progressive Mode, Aspect Ratio, or Setup Menu Display.
    • Audio Only Zone 3: Audio Only Zone 3 allows you to play a third analog stereo audio source connected to the receiver in a third room of your house via left/right RCA audio or speaker terminal output connections. Zone 3 features either a preamp-output or speaker terminal output so you can use this amp or a separate amp to power speakers in another room. When using the SR7007 to power speakers in Zone 3, the the main zone is limited to 5.2 channels. When using the receiver's preamp output terminals for the 3rd Zone, you need an additional amplifier in that room to power those speakers; the main Zone of the receiver remains 7.2-channel. The volume of Zone 3 can be controlled by the Marantz receiver using either configuration or from your add-on amplifier when using the line-output.

Note: *Compatible Sources - Only tuner, analog, USB, and Network sources can be played in both Zone 2 & Zone 3. Zone 2 also supports output of HDMI 1-6 audio/video signals. To hear AirPlay in Zone 2/3, you must first start playing Airplay in the Main Zone. Once you have selected AirPlay in Zone 2/3, you can then switch the source of the Main Zone. *Incompatible Sources - You cannot select different AM/FM radio stations or different Network content for different zones. Digital audio from optical and coaxial inputs cannot be output to Zone 2 or Zone 3 (Zone 3 does not support HDMI audio). Zone 3 does not output any video sources (HDMI, composite, or component).

Source Rename/Delete: You can change the display name (up to 8 characters) of a selected input source. If an input isn't being used, you can delete it from the display so you don't have to scroll past it when you change sources.

Panel Lock: To prevent accidental operation of this unit, you can disable operation of the buttons on the front-panel.

Dual Backup Memory Function: This receiver stores its settings in a nonvolatile memory even when the main power supply is turned off. Using the Dual Backup Memory function, you can write settings information to another memory area to back up saved settings for recovery anytime as needed.

    • Personal Memory Plus: This function sets the settings (input mode, surround mode, HDMI output mode, MultEQ, Dynamic EQ, audio delay, etc.) last selected for the individual input sources.
    • Last Function Memory: This function stores the settings which were made before going into the standby mode. When the power is turned back on, the settings are restored.

Sleep Timer: This function allows you to automatically set the power to standby after a predetermined amount of time has passed; set the sleep timer up to 120 minutes in 10 minute increments.

Auto Standby: The unit enters standby mode automatically when no commands are sent to the unit for the set time (30 or 60 minutes). Before it enters the standby mode, "Auto Standby" is displayed on the front-panel display of this unit and the on-screen menu.

    Remote/Bluetooth Control

Learning Remote: The provided IR wireless remote control is a universal learning remote control. The remote features a adjustable backlit LCD window which displays information about the sources and modes selected from the remote control. The remote control's buttons are also backlit with a press of a button. This remote is preset with remote codes for Marantz AV components. The remote also contains codes for other manufactures which can be programmed. In addition, the remote control is capable of learning and storing codes used by other remote controls (this remote is capable of learning around 160 codes). You can use the remote control to program a series of button operations in sequence. This remote can remember up to 6 macro functions; each macro can record a maximum of 10 steps.

HDMI Control: The Marantz SR7007 can control select external audio/video components connected via HDMI which support HDMI control. When you make an HDMI connection with a TV or player compatible with the SR7007's HDMI control function, you can perform the operations from the SR7007's remote control; Power off, Switching of audio output devices, Switching of audio input devices, Volume adjustment, and Playback functions.

Remote Connections: The Marantz SR7007 is fitted with the following custom remote inputs/outputs.

    • Remote In/Out: These RCA input/output connectors allow you to connect the SR7007 to a Marantz component equipped with remote control (RC-5) terminals.
    • Flasher In: This 3.5mm input is used to control the SR7007 from an external key-pad (sold separately).
    • DC Trigger Output: The DC trigger output (3.5mm) allows you to connect an external device so it can be turned on by the SR7007.
    • RS-232C: The RS-232C port is to be used in conjunction with an external controller to control the operation of the unit by using an external device. The RS-232C port may also be used in the future to update the operating software of the unit so that it will be able to support new digital audio formats.

Marantz Remote App: The Marantz Remote App lets you control the Marantz Network A/V receiver using your Apple iOS (4.3 or later) or Android device. This free Remote App lets you control the Marantz A/V receiver's basic functions (power, volume, input, surround modes) from your Apple iOS or Android device. The multi-zone control page of the Remote App lets you adjust power, volume and input selection for all zones from a single screen (when applicable). You can even navigate the A/V receiver's network and Internet content from your compatible Apple iOS or Android device. For added convenience, there are eight customizable home screen short cut buttons that allow you to tailor the look and function of the Marantz Remote App to suit your needs.

Note: Download the free Marantz Remote App from the iTunes App Store for the iPod touch, iPhone, or iPad (iOS 4.3 or later). Or, download the free Marantz Remote App from the Android Market for your compatible Android device (1.5-up). The AV receiver will need to be connected to the same network as your Apple iOS or Android device.

    Why did you buy this?

II do not need Ultra 4k. The Marantz SR7007 has the features I want, a three year warranty, and a great price. [ RFD  Dec 15, 2015 ]
quality product at competitive price [ JANE  Dec 13, 2015 ]
I've heard Marantz and owned their products in the past and have always been overly satisfied. [ Christopher  Dec 08, 2015 ]

    21 questions already asked

I have no experience with a Plex media server, however I have been able to play anything I want from a PC with a HDMI connection. This is an amazing receiver and pretty much can figure it out on its own. [ RICHARD A  Sep 24, 2015 ]
    I use the pre-outs to run a Steve McCormic amp for 2 channel stereo . [ RICHARD D.  Sep 08, 2015 ]
better ask a real degree'd electrical engineer for that...... [ GEORGE  Sep 08, 2015 ]
Good question. If the unit has that capability, I don't know how to do that. I skimmed through the manual and couldn't find anything on the subject. On mine, I'm just using the TV as a monitor, so as soon as I change the input from cable to network radio or something, it also switches the video display on the tv. [ Paul  Aug 26, 2015 ]
A qualified YES to this question. The music from the network input can be directed to one of the 3 Zones at the same time that the tivo is directed to another Zone. ie. music on the patio zone at the same time as tivo TV in the media room. [ BILL F  Aug 24, 2015 ]
Yes, but I don't believe you can listen to music and watch tv at the same time. [ Fran  Aug 24, 2015 ]
Yes, I leverage this functionality daily. TV playing inside while my music from my iPhone is playing on Zone 2 on the outside speakers. Highly recommend downloading the Marantz Remote Control App which makes managing the functionality much easier. [ ERNIE  Aug 24, 2015 ]
I am not 100% sure what you are asking however I have my receiver set up in a theater room. I have bluray, cab/sat, and another hdmi run to an independent TV outside the theater room. In addition I have a separate pre amp that drives my zones 2&3 which are in two additional rooms. Having said all of that, I record programs on my dvr each day while also listening to zones 2&3, or at the same time watching bluray. I have never had an issue with signal passing through while doing any other activities. My dvr always records as scheduled. Hope that helps! BTW, I love my Marantz receiver. Wayne [ WAYNE D  Aug 24, 2015 ]
Yes can. Setup has a audio and video input setting tab. I listen to music in the bedroom and still have cable on the living room. [ Douglas  Aug 24, 2015 ]
    Yes [ Douglas  Aug 24, 2015 ]
    Sorry, but I would not know. [ MICHAEL  Aug 16, 2015 ]
If I'm understanding the question ... you're asking if Zone 2/Zone 3 speakers can be driven directly - in which case the answer is only "surround back" is available for this function. There are separate preamp outs for Zone 2/Zone 3, but those are preamps. [ paul  Aug 15, 2015 ]
    Yes [ Douglas  Aug 24, 2015 ]
I don't know anything about the cable you are using hdmi2 input will support your projector I have the same setup you are describing except I am using blue rigger cable but it works great [ ARCHIE  Jun 15, 2015 ]
    No [ Douglas  Aug 24, 2015 ]
Hmm - well, it's got three speaker "zones" - I suppose you could hook your speakers up to diffrent zones and manage it that way. But - be advised - the zone outputs are preamp outputs ... won't drive un-ampified speakers directly. [ paul  Apr 28, 2015 ]
You can always use the zones. Have the main system setup for your projector and zone 2 or 3 for the other TV [ ANTHONY  Apr 28, 2015 ]
there are three audio zones and two video zones that can be assigned. This means you can assign one to your projector and one to your TV systems separately. The third audio zone can be assigned to a separate set of speakers in addition to the two video setups or you can bi amp your main system if you are not using all the surround channels. The "back" surround are used for blaming but still leaves the other back surround channels for 5.1 surround setups. [ SCOTT  Apr 28, 2015 ]
I don't believe it has an A/B speaker function like on a standard receiver but do believe you can use the zone 2 and 3 function to work in a similar manner. I do have a project and tv hooked up to this unit which works well but can be a little confusing to set up. I've also noticed that the receiver is prone to freezing up like a computer, which requires shutting off the power completely basically restarting the unit. [ MICHAEL  Apr 28, 2015 ]

Thank you everyone your replies. Perhaps I need to get a new blu-ray player. I have the Sony BDP-BX58 and the options for audio output are only Auto and PCM, no Bitstream option. I have Auto selected but the output on my Marantz 7007 still indicates PCM. [ ANDREW  Mar 12, 2015 ]
I do not have this issue. My Marantz 7007 plays DTS Master Audio when I load a blu-ray capable of this source. I have a Marantz UD 5007 blu-ray player. [ ROSS  Mar 12, 2015 ]
    sorry don't have that problem. [ Robert  Mar 10, 2015 ]
I had the same problem on both my Pioneer and Panasonic blu-ray players. To make it work, I changed the output settings on both players from pcm to bitstream. I hope this works you. [ BERNARDO  Mar 10, 2015 ]

As far as I am able to determine the pass through feature will allow the tv to operate independent of the receiver but once you access a source on the receiver the tv then projects whatever image is relevant to the source that is chosen the only workaround I am aware of is to use both the hdmi and rf connections on your tv and cable box this in turn allows you to make use of the tv independent of the receiver freeing you up to be able to use both at the same time [ ARCHIE  Feb 18, 2015 ]
I'm not sure, but would think that you could. [ MICHAEL  Feb 18, 2015 ]
You would need to set up the tv on one zone and your sound on a seperate zone. So yes you can but it is somewhat difficult unless you have a lot of speakers and have zone one for tv and zone two for only audio. [ SCOTT  Feb 18, 2015 ]
This is something I can test at least. At this time I am listening to a CD while the TV is on, however when I started the CD it did turn the TV back to an input from another source. It was corrected by again selecting TV on the TV remote. Not sure what you could do about TV sound though. Cheers.................Jay Hayes [ JAY  Feb 18, 2015 ]
Though I never did that, it will work. dg [ DAVID  Feb 18, 2015 ]

I can't speak from experience, since I don't have a 4k TV, but the manual seems to indicate that it will pass a 4k signal in its original resolution. It can also upscale lower input resolutions and output them at 4k. Hope that helps. [ LISA A  Jan 19, 2015 ]
    Not sure [ ERNIE  Jan 18, 2015 ]
According to this unit's avforums review "The receiver can output at 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i/p, 1080p/24 and 4K. Perhaps more usefully from a future proofing perspective, the SR7007 can also pass a 3D signal and a native 4K signal." [ GRIFFIN A  Jan 18, 2015 ]
The receiver supports both 4K pass-through and 4K upscaling technologies. The video chip in this receiver is one of the best I have seen right out of the box. I did not have to make any adjustment to the receiver when it came to picture quality. I own the Samsung plasma F8500 and it has a great picture and I did not think it could look any better until I hooked up the Marantz. While the picture quality only improved marginally it was noticeable. I really liked this receiver it was one of the easiest to set up and use but I did end up returning it for the Onkyo 929 as I wanted wireless and THX surround sound for movies since that is all I use it for (rarely listen to music which the Marantz excels at) [ LISA  Jan 18, 2015 ]
    Works with my Sony 4K and Netflix 4K. [ KEVIN  Jan 18, 2015 ]
    I don't know I don't have 4 k tv sorry [ DUANE  Jan 18, 2015 ]

If you can hook it up via RCA or HDMI then yes. [ Douglas  Aug 24, 2015 ]
Sorry I can not answer this question as I am not familiar with DSD Files [ ARCHIE  Dec 28, 2014 ]
    Yes [ Douglas  Aug 24, 2015 ]
    Hi - short answer is no, it'll only run 6 to 8 ohm speakers . [ ROBERT  Nov 25, 2014 ]
I have Polk RTi A7 and these are 8 ohm so I don't know for sure that it can handle 4ohm. the specs call out power and distortion for only going to 6ohm loads. I would recommend calling Crutchfield to be sure you find a reciever that can handle such a low impedance load. This one will bi-amp but that will not fix the ohm load. Great reciever if you choose to replace your speakers eventually. really clean sound and good picture through the HDMI connections. At this price, it is a steal. [ SCOTT  Nov 25, 2014 ]
No I'm afraid the SR 7007 is only rated to support 6 to 8 ohm speakers but I don't know if you have made your final purchase yet but Crutchfield also stocks the sister to the SR 7007 Denon AVR X4100W that will not only support your 4 ohm speakers but will also put you right in the thick of the new Dolby Atmos Soundfield. Good luck Steve J I hope this helps in someway Happy Thanksgiving [ ARCHIE  Nov 25, 2014 ]
Sorry Steve, I'm not sure if it does support 4ohm speakers. Mine has been a good unit, only problem I have had is that occasionally I have to power it off and on again much like restarting a computer when it locks up. [ MICHAEL  Nov 25, 2014 ]
I have been using the SR7007 for about 4 months with Thiel 4-ohm speakers. I do not drive them to very high levels (I have it in a bedroom system), but I have had no problems. If you use a powered subwoofer, that will take even more of the load off the receiver. [ ROBERT E  Nov 25, 2014 ]
    Yes [ Douglas  Aug 24, 2015 ]
    Yes! [ JULIUS  Nov 15, 2014 ]
Yes the Marantz SR7007 has a built in HD receiver. [ ROBERT  Sep 11, 2014 ]
to the best of my knowledge yes [ JOSEPH B  Sep 10, 2014 ]
Yes it does and it works very well. [ DARWIN  Sep 09, 2014 ]
Yes it does. AM/FM/HD all built in. [ paul  Sep 09, 2014 ]
Yes it can. If your front speakers have four connecting posts you can also bi-amp them., separate power going to your highs and lows. 1 center channel, 2 rear channels and 1 or 2 subs. This is how I have mine set up and it sounds awesome! Good luck and enjoy! [ JASON  May 27, 2014 ]
Yes this receiver can, you can even bi-amp your front speakers with 2 subwoofer. Once you have connected your speakers correctly and you follow the instruction from the assistance that come with receiver everything become straight forward. I must recommend to you after using the assistance from the receiver make sure you use Audyssey and you will see and here a big difference in your system [ IRAD M  May 25, 2014 ]
    Yes [ JOHN E  May 24, 2014 ]
Yes it can be set up as 5.1 configuration. Probably you have it donne alredy when you follow instructiion and used automatic set up by Audyssey. Check it by entering setup, press SPEAKERS, then MANUAL SETUP and go to SPEAKER CONFIG. Now you can see all speakers hooked up, it schould be 5.1 conf. I assume all this is ok and now on remote control are two buttons MOVIE and MUSIC press and hold one of these, on screen you get options for type and system for the sound. Enjoy! [ MAREK J  May 24, 2014 ]
Hi Absolutely. If you check on the rear panel of the receiver, on the pre-out section, you will notice two subwoofer outputs (SW) especially designed for a 5.1 or 5.2 surround sound configuration. The biggest advantage of placing two subwoofers, one on the L and R side of the room, is that you end up with a more balance bass through out the room. Just make sure they are both identical and that you keep one out of face for best results. RR [ RAQUEL  May 24, 2014 ]
Hi Randall, I just set up my Marantz SR 7007 receiver for 7.1 operation. I see no reason why the Marantz receiver cannot work perfectly in a 5.1 application. I'm going to give it a few more weeks before I make a judgment call on the receiver, but so far it sounds magnificent. Thanks for asking, David [ DAVID B  May 24, 2014 ]
    Yes [ TIAN  May 23, 2014 ]
Yes it can! It has dual subwoofer outputs, so that you can run a 5.1 or 5.2 system in your listening environment. (These outputs are labeled SW1 and SW2 on the back of the unit.) Hope this helps! [ CHRISTOPHER  May 23, 2014 ]
I purchased the SR7007 about a month ago and have it currently setup using a 5.1 configuration (2 mains, 2 rear, 1 center and a sub). This works fine in my 14' x 20' listening room. No need for the additional satellites if you do not want to use the other two channels. I have been pretty impressed by the AVR so far, but be advised that if you intend to use the onboard phono section (HO MC/ MM only), I strongly suggest using the Pure Direct mode which vastly improves sound as it only employs the original stereo signal and therefore only your main speakers are active. I was very disappointed in the surround processing utilized by the phono output section, so I am looking into a separate phono preamp as an option. ~Rob [ ROBERT  May 23, 2014 ]
I have not had a chance to set up my receiver sorry, but I found the following, it might be helpful : Manual that comes on the disc as PDF is not the best written and veeeery long. It will take you some reading on your PC and few calls to Marantz to address all the aspects you may have doubts about. Few clarifications for the new users: - This is a 7,2 receiver but has 3 zones and 11 speaker ports, however, you can only use Assigned ports for zone 2. Zone 3 does not have independent speaker ports, only outputs for another amplifier you can place in another room. Speakers are good for the main zone as 5.1 set up and 2 assigned for stereo speakers in zone 2. For a while I had a problem finding Equalizer settings hidden deeply in the menu ( below Odyssey Icons menu ) and only after activating Equalizer for all the channels I got really full, wonderful sound. There is no presets for different sound options ( like Live,Hall, Disco,Jazz you could see in less expensive brands ) so you have to tweak all the settings yourself and that takes some time. [ JOSE  May 23, 2014 ]
    Yes you can. [ ERNESTO  May 10, 2014 ]
Yes, i have straight banana plugs on the speaker wires to the amp. Looks nice and clean. [ TEDDY  May 08, 2014 ]
Yes banana plugs makes speaker connection fast and easy [ ARCHIE  May 08, 2014 ]
Yes, bananna plugs can be used. [ ANGELLA M  May 08, 2014 ]
Absolutely. Standard binding posts that will accept banana plugs, spade lugs or bare wire. Given how tight the fit is on the back of AV receivers, banana plugs are probably the best option. [ ROBERT E  May 08, 2014 ]
    Yes [ DAVID  May 08, 2014 ]
None use you music app already installed on the IPhone. [ Douglas  Aug 24, 2015 ]
We use our Marantz for only Vinyl play back and Blu-ray disc. And we do not have an i phone which as I remember the only sound available is MP3. You don't need this quality of an amp to play MP3s [ JAY  Jan 31, 2014 ]
Mine is not in a cabinet, but stacked with other components. I got some 1.5" ABS plastic from the hardware store, and cut into 4 2" lengths. I use these as extension legs on the equipment above the receiver to provide 2" of air space between the receiver and the component above it, allowing for flow-through ventilation. The black ABS plastic doesn't look bad either. [ Paul  Aug 26, 2015 ]
I have never had any problem with over heating at all! [ JULIUS  May 21, 2014 ]
I've had no problems. I use Klipsch RF7's as main which, like all Klipsch speakers, are very efficient. So, it doesn't load the amp much even at higher volumes. I can find little to complain about it so far. [ ANDREW R  Feb 02, 2014 ]
I have not had any overheating problems. The unit sounds great to me with my two Anthem power amps, but it does seem much more complicated to use than my old Sony ES. [ JOHN T  Jan 28, 2014 ]
I have not noticed any issues with overheating but as with all electronics the need proper ventilation. Mine is not in a cabinet and onle covered on rhe top with the back and front wide open so it gets good ventilation. It does throw a lot of heat which is expected with that much amplification. I am pushing biamplified front towers, a center channel, rear surrounds and a powered sub with no problems. [ SCOTT  Jan 28, 2014 ]
My SR7007 is in a rather closed in area of the entertainment cent and it does not overheat. It is however quite warm to the touch. My only complaint is that the front panel flap (door) will not stay closed. [ RICK  Jan 28, 2014 ]
The installation directions require that you leave some air space around the unit. Mine sits on a wide shelf with plenty of space on all sides. Nothing is stacked on top. To date, I have not encountered any problems, nor do I feel any excess heat when I approach. It also has an auto standby feature and will go to sleep when not in use, I'm sure this helps. [ DENNIS  Jan 27, 2014 ]
I read the same concerns. I read through that because of the benefits of the receive. This unit is awesome and I would highly recommend it. I listen to a lot of music and love to watch movies as well and I have not had the first problem I am pushing Kitsch RF-7s and a K lipsch center channel. I cannot say enough about how well it does. [ DARWIN  Jan 27, 2014 ]
I can't help since mine has not been used for long periods and it is in a very open space. [ Mallory  Jan 27, 2014 ]
