Our take on the Westinghouse LTV-32w1

Now is a great time to be in the market for a flat-panel TV. Prices are dropping as rapidly as picture quality is improving. If you're looking for the best bang for the buck in a 32" LCD, there may be no stronger contender than the Westinghouse LTV-32w1. When you watch your first DVD on this high-resolution screen, you'll see what you've been missing.

For Westinghouse, it's all about screen quality. The LTV-32w1 has a high pixel count to reproduce fine picture details, and excellent contrast for images with punch and dimensionality. A very fast "pixel response time" (the time it takes each pixel to go from fully on to fully off) means you'll see naturally smooth on-screen motion with no distracting smearing or image lag.

A standard TV tuner is built in, so you can enjoy your favorite shows the same as always. To receive high-definition signals, simply connect a separate HDTV tuner. The generous set of connections includes composite, S-video, and component video inputs, as well as a DVI digital video input for use with compatible HD tuners and "upconverting" DVD players. There's a standard PC connection, too.

Consumer Alert: This component has only an analog broadcast tuner and will require a converter box after February 17, 2009, to receive over-the-air broadcasts with an antenna because of the Nation's transition to digital broadcasting. Remote Codes

Sean from Kansas City, MO on 2/19/2006

I agree with the other reviews, and maybe somebody will find this helpful. I programmed the remote for my cable company's HD-DVR box using one of the codes here:

I compared it to the list of remote codes the cable company gave me (which had no Westinghouse models), and the code I'm using is one of the Sony codes.

Westinghouse 32" LCD TV

Shawn from Asheville, NC on 1/9/2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased this LCD TV a few months back and have been very pleased. The multiple input options are very nice. I use DVI for my HD satellite and would suggest this over the other connections for the best picture. Component cables for my DVD and VGA for my computer. It all works very seemlessly. Sound is good from the built in speakers. I like that the speakers are below the screen instead of on the sides. The widescreen TV's with the speakers on the side are way too wide! The only thing I would change is the color of the cabinet. I prefer Black but this is a minor issue for me. Very impressed with the picture quality after some adjustment to brightness and contrast. Warning! You're not going to like looking at regular TV after watching HD!! Good Luck - This is a good unit to go with.

Great Picture Quality - Highly Recommended LCD HDTV

George from Staten Island, NY on 1/6/2006

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

One of the best ways in my opinion to decide on what product you want is to see it for yourself. After looking at all the HDTV's first hand at my local Best Buy without looking at the manufacturers name, the Westinghouse LTV-32w1 caught my eye from the moment I saw it. After doing some research for the best possible price, it was Crutchfield as the clear choice. I must say I am very pleased with this unit! Great picture quality in High Def with an external Dish Network 811 receiver hooked up to it using purchased DVI cable (not included). Take advantage of FREE over the air HDTV reception with an external antenna and purchase a high definition digital tuner and network programming NEVER looked better. The Westinghouse LTV-32w1 looks just as good as some LCD's priced considerably higher (even compared to Sony's BRAVIA XBR flat panel LCD high-definition televisions). I am not overly excited about the remote control however. It seems you really have to aim it directly at the TV for it to work properly. It would be nice if this unit had a built in high def digital tuner also. All said, the Westinghouse LTV-32w1
32" HDTV-ready LCD TV is well worth the money and I got a great price from Crutchfield over the Thanksgiving holiday! Look for any possible online coupons at checkout via the world wide web and save even more!

Beautiful Picture - Recommended

Michael from Westminster, MD on 12/4/2005

This LCD really has a beautiful picture. I've sampled it using DirecTV Tivo SD via S-video and the picture is solid for SD video. The DVD via component video is beautiful, even before adjustment, reducing the backlighting to get the black a bit blacker. The fine detail on DVD input is incredible. I cannot wait to get HDTV input for this unit. Shipping from Crutchfield was quick and efficient. Crutchfield Service is excellent. The only negatives are that the TV is not receptive to codes from my TiVO or receiver remotes, and no HDMI, only DVI. I've read that Sony codes will work this TV, but I haven't plowed through them all yet. Overall awesome TV and recommended buy!

Great TV for a Great Price

Dustin from Pensacola, FL on 12/4/2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I just received this tv the other day and all I have to say is wow. I was a little worried that the picture quality might not be as good because of the fact that this tv was about $600-1500 cheaper than the other LCD's in the same size range at the time I purchased it. I'm definately not disappointed at all! Ad an up-conversion dvd player to the mix, connect it through the DVI input, and you will have one great picture. I do agree with the person before me about the remote control.. but I guess thats what the Harmony remote by Logitech is for... and with all the money you save you wont have any problem affording one. I highly recommended this TV to anyone. Great picture at an amazing price; it truly is the best bang for the buck.

I'd give it 4.5 stars if I could.

Awesome Deal

Dizzy from Howard Beach, NY on 12/1/2005

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Just received this tv/ monitor and it is just great. Clear picture easy to use.
Only thing stopping it from getting a perfect score is the cheaply made remote (Toy like & no back lighting)and the fact that it does not have an HDMI connection.
Otherwise just near perfect and of course the aewsome cruthcfield customer service.
