Channel Master 3414
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Doing a great job in distributing the signal to all the rooms.
Channel Master's 3414 is a compact, versatile RF distribution amplifier designed for indoor use with coaxial cables. It lets you distribute amplified antenna or cable TV signals to as many as four TVs without the signal degradation caused by splitters.
The 3414 can improve reception whether the problem is weak signal strength at your antenna, or loss of signal quality due to a long cable run. Unlike the inexpensive boosters you find in hardware stores, the 3414 is a "bi-directional" design that provides a return signal path for use with a cable box or cable modem (return signal is not amplified). The included AC power supply connects to the 3414 via a short length of coax cable, which is also included.
Doing a great job in distributing the signal to all the rooms.

Doing a great job in distributing the signal to all the rooms.
Works great! I live in an area where the online tools tell me I cannot get TV or at least where I can expect many challenges getting usable signal. I managed to get adequate signal, but it is certainly weak. Compounding the challenge is that my antenna is 90" of RG6 away from where I split the signal to 4 TVs. Those split signals have another 30"-80' more RG6 to travel before getting to the TVs. Thanks to this powered splitter (and a pre-amp I got from Crutchfield too), all my TVs get our major networks' OTA signal. I am beyond thrilled that this projected no-signal area has proven otherwise.
Pros: Easy install. Comes with everything needed.
Cons: Requires a power outlet right next to your splits, so plan the location for where your wiring enters the house carefully, or buy a long extension cord.
Easy to install requires electric which is to be expected. Would have bought a stronger unit if available. My last unit was a little stronger
Pros: Easy to install, splits to 4 over the air TV.
Cons: Wish was a little stronger. My previous amplifier boosted the signal a little better.
Great reception on all TVs in a 2 story house.
I live in a deep fronge are for off air television reception, soI gad to use a long range antenna, rotator and a mast mounted amplifier CM-7777. Once indude the house I needed to supply four TVs with a signal to prevent losing all the signal strength I had at the splitter I decided I needed an amplified 4 way splitter. The logical choice was another Channel Master product CM-3414 which is totally compatible with the CM-7777. It was well worth adding it!
Pros: Very nicely made, works well and easy to install.
Cons: Requires power supply at the point of install.
Anytime you split an antenna into 4 rooms you lose signal quality. That is why I bought this product. It amplifies the signal to what it was before you split it into 4 rooms... Just like you have a single antenna in each room... Works great as described!
Pros: great fro splitting antenna into 4 rooms
Before I bought the Channel Master I was getting poor reception from 2-3 of our local stations including NBC which carried the Olympic Games . A soon as I powered it up all my OTA channels came in solid as a rock and I became a happy Olympics watcher! I even started to pull in channels from Providence RI which were not there before. Excellent product! Would buy another.
Preforms poorly. I have a cheap signal booster that way out preforms it and cost 75% less. Does Help To Clean Up the signal some.

The signal strength supplied by my cable provider has degraded. I started experiencing more and more errors when viewing QAM channels. Using the signal diagnostic of my TV, I noticed the signal strength had dropped. Rather than paying a monthly fee for an interface available from my provider to fix their issue, I decided to install this amplifier. It raised my signal strength as promised. And I have not had any errors since. It was easy to install.
Pros: Fits in the same circuit as a normal splitter.
Looks and feels like a quality product. Very well Engineered and should pass the Test of Time.
This product has improved the picture quality of all the over-the-air HDTV channels I receive. It makes a big difference especially when the weather is raining or snowing. Before I hooked up this product, some HDTV channel only had 60% signal strength according the the menu on my HDTV. Now the same channels have improved to 100% signal strength. However, the signal quality percentage (a different measurement) for a few channels did not improve very much. But the important thing is that I noticed a good improvement in overall picture quality for all channels. I am using this product inside my home behind my TV stand. The coaxial cable from my antenna comes through the wall behind my HDTV stand. My over-the-air antenna mast is in the attic of my house. Another advantage to using this product is that it has 4 RF outputs for the 1 over-the-air antenna input. I have hooked up one output directly to my HDTV, another output to my Channel Master DVR (digital video recorder), and another output to my older DVD recorder/VCR which has a built-in digital tuner. Now ALL 3 of my video components with tuners have excellent signal quality for both watching TV or recording TV shows. Finally, this product has excellent build quality with a metal case/housing. (not plastic).
Pros: Improved HDTV picture quality and signal strength for all channels. Also, the flexibility to send the amplified HDTV signals to 4 different components or TVs in different rooms of the house. Solid build quality.
Cons: The only negative I can think of is that the power plug has a transformer block on it--so it takes up more space at the outlet where you plug it in. At least the 2 prongs on the plug/transformer box are both the same width so you can plug it into the outlet facing one of 2 different ways (at a 180 degree angle from each other).
I installed outdoor antenna and hooked up 3 televisions. All was good until I hooked up the 4th. Some stations froze their picture and I lost audio. I knew I had good reception at the antenna. I purchased and hooked up the Channel Master 3414 amplifier at the point the signal came into the home from the antenna and all my problems were solved. I now receive clear strong video and audio from all channels and even in heavy rain I have no loss of signal. I am very pleased with the performance of this amplifier.
Pros: The amplifier arrived from Crutchfield ahead of the anticipated date. Instructions for installation and hookup were excellent and installation was very easy. I spent less than a half hour removing cables from old non-amplified 4 channel connector to the Channel Master 4 channel output amplifier.
Cons: None that I am aware of.
Just what I been looking for
I have four TVs fed by one antenna. Three work fine, but the fourth, the oldest and farthest, has trouble with a few channels, including one of our favorites. I tried an amplifier at the TV end, which didn't give much better reception. So I installed the Channel Master in place of the splitter. It installed neatly, and added about thirty mote channels after scanning. Unfortunately, it didn't improve the troublesome channels at all. I'm disappointed. Alternatives now are expensive.
Pros: Compact and solid.
Cons: If mounted outside, providing power is complicated.
This is a very nice quality built product, works Great!
Pros: Helps pull in tv stations that are week
Cons: non yet
After installing my Mohu antenna and testing on a single TV I was pleased with picking up 61 channels in my location. Using the channel master disto amplifier I now have those 61 channels on 4 separate TV's. Time to cut the cable back to just Internet.
Pros: Easy install. Rated for indoor and outdoor (installed in crawl space)
Cons: None at this point.
set up channel master antenna with rotor, amp, preamp & dvr...get 40 channels on chimney mount, 1 story house...old neighborhood with many large trees obstructing signal. Pixelation during bad weather & hard to zero in northern stations due to curvature of the earth, southern stations are more clear. Can zero in stations with the remote that goes with the rotor box. DVR has all the features of a cable/satellite dvr, could have an extra tuner that only watches channels but does not record. If you record 2 shows at the same time you can't watch a third, 1tb storage & can connect external drives only if not recording.
Pros: stronger signal
Cons: pixelation in bad weather
Great product. I've had this amp for about a month now and what a difference. I had 1 station that was continuously dropping out and thanks to this product, that issue is a thing of the past. I've been able to eliminate all my splitters, ended up with twice the free over the air channels and the signal is perfect.
Pros: Quick & easy to install Heavy duty construction
Product works great boosting signal, easy to hookup.
Works as advertised. The signal on cable that's been split amplified to where it was clear as a bell. Signal was static prone prior to installation.
Pros: works great
Cons: Can interfere with cable box dvr if placed on port 1.
I have used Channel Master products in the past because of their quality and it's refreshing to see that they have not changed. The installation was very easy and the amplifier works perfect. I know there are many distribution amps on the market today but you won't go wrong with Channel Master.
Pros: Easy installation, comes with everything needed for quick set up, solid construction
Plug and play product assuming you have an outlet nearby.
Pros: Works as advertised!
Cons: None yet
Works like a charm! I went from zero channels, at 60 feet away from antenna, to 40 channels on all of my televisions. Beautiful picture, much better than cable.
Pros: easy to install
Cons: none so far
good quality product .clear signal ,did the job
Pros: as advertised
Works great, supplies the signal from an antenna about 50 ft away to 4 TVs throughout my house.
Pros: Works as advertised
Placed it in the "home run" box in my game room so I could split my antenna signal to several rooms (most importantly my garage) because in did not want to pay extra for another box to go in the garage. All connected tv's added 15-20 channels over using standard splitter. LOVE the fact that power is run through coax so you can choose any length you need. Thinking seriously about adding another (non-splitter type) right at the antenna because Im sure that would improve the signal much more since it amplifies a stronger signal. The fact that you can run power through existing coax cables is genius because I can simply plug another up in the same place and use this coax to run power up to the antenna. Great product. Far cheaper than the ripoff of cable....
Pros: Ease of use smart power supply
Cons: Doesn't make dinner
This product works as advertised.
All's I can say is I went from 11 in and out channels to 34 clear and constant channels . I will never pay another cable again.
Pros: I already said it, and installation was a breeze, took all but five minutes.
Works as advertised
Pros: Actually works
I purchased this distribution amp to resolve a problem with intermittent drop-outs. The improvement was very slight if at all. With a directional, high-gain antenna, a rotor, a pre-amplifier and this distribution amplifier, drop-outs should be non-existant. I don't know if I've got another problem or this distribution amp is not functioning correctly. An email to Channel Master support went unanswered.
Pros: Looks pretty.
Cons: Doesn't seem to do much.Crutchfield response on 7/15/2013 We forwarded this review to our Technical Support team for follow-up. Lifetime tech support comes with every Crutchfield purchase.
Have this connected in my attic with a Channel Master 3010. Connected all the previous owner's direct tv cables to the signal amplifier and now I have free HDTV in multiple locations throughout the house. All without a cable/satellite bill.
Cons: Didn't come with an electrician to run a outlet in my attic. :) JK...I knew I would have to get this done when I bought it.
Excellent product! We have some long cable tv runs resulting in some irritating snow. This amplified splitter is just what we were looking for and cleared our tv pictures beautifully! Easy hook-up and instant success! Also, kudos to Crutchfield for excellent service! The product was out-of-stock for some time. The Crutchfield team let me know as soon as it was available, I ordered it and it arrived in about 3 days, well packaged and in perfect condition. Worth waiting for! Highly recommend! Thank you!?
Pros: Quality, well made product. Easy installation. Works very well for us!
I needed an amplifier to feed my antenna to 4 different receivers. This was the answer and it worked with no signal over loading or any kind of enterference.
Pros: Great amplifier with four outputs eliminating the need for a splitter. It gives a signal boost needed for longer cable runs.
This is a very simple, well constructed device. If you use it for its intended purpose, the amp functions perfectly. It eliminated the noise, visible lines, and distortion of other low quality amps in my four TV home setup. This is a perfect amp for home or small business use. My setup was analog only, so I can't comment on digital signals, pass-through, etc.
Pros: Small, solid build, clean and quiet power
I have a two channel unit like this one. It has been super on boosting signal from 50 miles away. We needed to add two more tvs so we purchased a 4 output unit. Great amplifier.
installed at distribution box to boost signal from Channel Master 4228 antennae. Replaced passive splitter with this, increased the number of channels visible from 23 to 43, with very strong signal from stations 40 miles away... It was easier to amplify at my distribution box than at the antennae which is why I bought this rather than other amplifiers.
This was just what I needed to allow me to increase the output to all four of my TVs. I was unable to get a signal to three of my TVs before I put this unit in. Thank you Crutchfield for all your help. Your price and fast shiping was great.
Upgrading from the channel master 3410 to the channel master 3414 was another great choice. We now have two HDTV's plus our older TV. I still get great reception. Plus we added a few more stations. Now we have a total of 33 channels. We can view different channels on all the TV's, at the same time and not lose any signal strength. Thanks Again Crutchfield for a great product.

Mother in Law is moving in, and she loves the off-air channels with 70's sitcoms and Westerns. We have a great Crutchfield setup with a Channel Master 3020 Large UHF/VHF Antenna (Long-Range), and we need more connections in the basement.:-) [ Jeffrey Jun 26, 2018 ]

From what I understand, yes you can hookup the CM splitter to tvs, using the outdoor antenna. Then on the cable splitter you should only have one wire in and one wire out. This is to feed the internet. If this is true, you can eliminate the cable splitter and put a "barrel connector" in line to join the cable. This will also eliminate any signal loss through the cable splitter. Hope this helps. [ ROBERT B Feb 16, 2016 ]
I have my internet and antenna cables run separately. I do not have a signal amp. on the internet. The 3414 has a input and 1 output two directional ports if you use it as a cable TV and internet amp. You should not need to amplify the internet in your application. So use the 3414 amp. on the antenna cable so you do not get signal drop if adding more TVs. If you have DTV ready TVs you do not need the converters boxes. If you have analog TVs you will need to hook the boxes back in because, the cable company was converting it for you. Hope that helps. [ DOREEN Feb 15, 2016 ]
This amplifier is intended for antenna signals. It works for over-the-air broadcast signals but I cannot make a recommendation for cable use. Channel Master's website states: Channel Master distribution amplifiers can be used in HDTV, CATV, off-air, analog and digital RF distribution applications where high performance and reliability are required. The CM 3414 is a high quality miniature four output digital TV amplifier with passive return, which means the distribution amplifier does not have any amplification for signals in the return path frequency range (5-42 MHz). This frequency range is used in cable telecommunications networks to allow cable modems and set top boxes to communicate back through the cable network. Passive return amplifiers are the most commonly used in-house distribution amplifiers by cable operators. Hope this helps. [ KEVIN Feb 11, 2014 ]
I use the 3414 to boost my incoming over-air Antenna signal. It works great for that. I have a longer run and needed to install another one to reach that distance. Seems about every 100ft with an over air antenna. This should boost any signal but I'm not familiar with how the phone works with the cable system. Hope this helps in some way. [ Mark Feb 10, 2014 ]
I just recently installed this at my place. We are running cable internet only but our signal coming in from the street was weaker than it should have been. The cable company tried to help boost the signal, but they stated because we weren't subscribed to cable TV also, they can only make the signal so strong (uh huh? yea right). So, I installed this and now we get a very strong internet signal, and we can get all the basic TV channels coming through the cable. An we have a few splitters too. In a nut shell, it worked really well on our weak signal, and the internet hasn't dropped since. Plus, it's only $40 bucks. that's not much of a risk. [ Steve Feb 10, 2014 ]
I am not familiar with cable service. My application for the distribution amplifier is to feed the signal from a regular off the air TV antenna to 4 TVs in the house. It definitely made a big difference compared to using just a regular splitter. [ Esteban Feb 10, 2014 ]
I used 2way splitter to drive phone modem, then remaining tap directly to the Channel Master amp. Each output of the Amp goes to a separate TV, some 60' or more from the TV amp. Results are excellent. I have marginal signal strength coming into the house. [ Charles Feb 10, 2014 ]
