LG brings innovative engineering and design to their latest line of plasma HDTVs. During the past year we've seen more and more TV shoppers choose 50" plasmas, especially for their home theaters. We expect LG's advanced 50PC5D to be one of our best-selling models.

Building on plasma's strengths
In the battle for flat-panel TV superiority, plasmas have traditionally trumped the competition when it comes to contrast and black level. Many movie fans choose plasma based on those characteristics because they contribute to a richer, more cinematic picture. LG's impressive specs translate to blacks that remain deep and dark even with the lights dimmed.

LG's screen fights room reflections and burn-in
Plasma screens tend to reflect room lights, but LG's Clear Filter Pro is an advanced thin-film filter that reduces reflections, sharpens the image, and even reduces weight because it replaces a sheet of glass.

Screen burn-in is much less of an issue for plasmas than it used to be, but you still should be careful about pausing images for longer than a few minutes. LG helps prevent burn-in with a smart feature that automatically reduces brightness by up to 80% after you pause an image.

LG knows HD tuners inside and out
The 50PC5D has built-in tuners for analog and digital over-the-air broadcasts. Connect an antenna and start enjoying crystal-clear high-def programs for free. LG owns several key HDTV patents, and their digital tuner designs are among the best at pulling in stations.

Was a great TV

Kevin from Poughkeepsie, NY on 5/30/2016

Was a great TV for the past 8 years, UNTIL a very thin red line showed up on the left side of the screen. I can't believe that for $1500.00 a TV will only last 8 years..My Dad is still watching his RCA from 1986

Pros: Beautiful picture.

Cons: For $1500.00 you think it would last longer then 8 years.
