2003 Jeep Rubicon Boom Mat
Received the package around 4 pm and had it completely installed as instructed by 7pm, including time to break for dinner and thoroughly clean and prep the hard top inner surface. My observations: Objectively: Using a decibel measuring app on my iPhone the sound inside my Jeep at 70mph on the interstate was 5 dB lower than before installation. This 5 dB drop has made a clear difference. I have a Parrot Hands Free Bluetooth in the Jeep and people can now hear me clearly while I am talking in a normal voice and sitting normally. I do not have to lean into the mic anymore for people to hear me or to operate the voice controls on my phone. Subjectively: A big improvement, especially at head level. You can now hear road noise coming up thru the floor and from behind the dash that you did not notice before, but this does not interfere with talking or operation of the phone. I do not plan to insulate these areas as it floods here during most rain storms, and my Jeep as it is now is perfect for this - much better than a carpeted sedan.
Pros: Reduces noise to point where hands free phone is completely and effortlessly operable in terms of giving voice commands, hearing callers, and having callers hear you. You can also carry on a conversation with passengers in a normal voice as you would in a nice car at 70 mph. Boom Mat also gives you interior color options that the competing company does not. The surface exposed to the interior of the car is plastic and does not hold dirt. (It looks like fabric in the pictures but it is not)
Cons: None yet. Lets see how its glue holds up in the heat and cold over the years.
