Boom Mat 6-3/4" Speaker Baffles
Protect your speakers
Regular and slim-line sizes (Regular: 4-1/4" depth)
Our take on the Boom Mat 6-3/4" Speaker Baffles by Crutchfield's Buck Pomerantz
Boom Mat baffles protect your car's new speakers from moisture and dirt. Mounted behind the speaker, the baffle forms a mounting seal that also improves sound clarity by reducing panel vibration that could transfer to the speaker.
These baffles will protect your speakers. In many applications we recommend that you cut a hole in the bottom of the baffle, or remove the entire bottom of the baffle, to maintain good bass response while still protecting your speaker from dirt and water damage. Call one of our Advisors if you have questions — they'll be happy to share their expertise with you.

What a difference these boom matts make, wow, the sound now is clearer than ever, plus keeps dirt and water from the speaker. Also keeps the road noise from destroying the speaker.

Overview: These acoustic baffles are designed to be placed behind car speakers to protect the speaker from moisture and dirt which can damage speaker components. Along with providing a sealed chamber, they also form a mounting seal between the speaker and the mounting surface to eliminate panel to frame resonance. Baffles will improve door acoustics by reducing road noise and vibrations transferred to the back of the speaker cone. The baffles are pliable and can be compressed to fit most applications.

I bought the speaker baffles for two reasons. First, to protect the rear of the speakers from any moisture that may get trapped in the speaker enclosure, as they will be installed in a marine environment. Secondly, to add a bit of sound baffling. [ VINCENT Jan 13, 2017 ]

The 2005 and up chevrolets ( Silverado, suburban, Avalanche etc.) tend to leak water around the windows and down into the door panels which blow the speaker. The boom mat baffles will hopefully help remedy that from happening again. [ Jake Sep 04, 2016 ]

I'm installing JL C2650 components in the doors of my Jeep Liberty, but they might be too deep with the standard weathering sheet. I am expecting to cut the weathering sheet and use these to protect my speakers instead. Also, I am hoping that these Boom Mat Baffles cut down on the vibrations of the door panels. 1 question already asked
I installed those same speakers in boom matts and the sound from the speakers was DEAD FLAT and no bass. If you have to install them for protection cut holes in the bottom. Those speakers need to be mounted in free air unbaffled. I could not believe how they degraded the sound especially the bass. Thought I was going to have to buy a subamp but I thought I would try removing the boom matts to see what difference it would make. WOW, what an improvement in sound. [ Mark Jan 09, 2016 ]
If I remember the baffles are plyable and slightly stretchable. I didn't have a problem installing the speaker. I also don't remember the size speaker as this install was done on my last car. [ Paul Nov 17, 2015 ]
THey do but I ended up removing them because they made the speakers sound awful!! [ E. Nov 17, 2015 ]
Yes. Should be no problem [ DENNIS Nov 17, 2015 ]
