Our take on the Kenwood 900-watt Dual 12" Bass Package

This Kenwood bass package includes a 900-watt mono amplifier, two 12" subwoofers, and a sealed dual 12" enclosure so you can enjoy all the fullness and thrill of powerful bass in your music. All you need to add is wiring for a complete sub system.

This Kenwood bass package includes a 900-watt mono amplifier, two 12" subwoofers, and a sealed dual 12" enclosure so you can enjoy all the fullness and thrill of powerful bass in your music. All you need to add is wiring for a complete sub system.

KAC-9105D mono sub amp
The Kenwood KAC-9105D mono amp punches out up to 900 watts RMS to the two 12" subwoofers. A rugged cast-aluminum heatsink keeps this amp running at optimal temperatures, even when you're pushing your system hard. A built-in low-pass filter lets you adjust the output so you'll get the best sound possible from your subwoofer/box combo. And you can dial in up to 18 dB of bass boost if you want to fatten up the thump. Speaker-level inputs with signal sensing turn-on allow these amps to hook up to almost any radio without having to run a separate turn-on lead.

Two KFC-W3013PS 12" subwoofers
Each 4-ohm KFC-W3013PS Performance Series 12" sub handles up to 400 watts RMS, so two of them are a great match for the Kenwood 900-watt amp. The diamond-array patterned cones resist flexing, for strong and clean bass notes. A tough rubber surround accommodates the extra-long cone excursion that pumps up the volume. And a dual vent cooling system makes sure the sub keeps running, even during long, loud jams.

Sound Ordnance dual 12" sealed enclosure
Sound Ordnance's rugged Bass Bunker BB122-125S sealed enclosure holds two 12" subwoofers and offers an internal volume of 1.26 cubic feet per chamber. This unloaded enclosure features high-grade, medium-density fiberboard construction, with sealed inner braces that help combat resonance by reducing vibrations.

Important Note: The power of the amp in this bass package exceeds the manufacturer's recommended power handling for the included sub(s). It's OK to overpower your subs, as long as you set the amp's gain controls properly to avoid distortion. This diagram shows you how to wire up the sub(s) in this package.

If you are looking for a Very Simple Bass package that will in a 4 door Jeep beat the top and doors off of it and make it difficult to sit in when wide open then this is your package. Great sound and bass even with the top off. My daughter did blow the first set of speakers however, Crutchfield replaced them no problem offered the solution of just dialing it back a hair. It worked and haven't had a problem. Honestly I can't tell it's dialed back.

Pros: Great Sound, Great Bass.

Cons: Almost too much Bass I would suggest remote Bass knob and make sure your other speakers can keep up. She has the factory Infinity system and it compliments it Perfect.

Great subs for the money

Austin42156 from Champaign Illinois on 2/6/2014

For people new to car stereo. This amp puts out 500 watts at 4 ohms. that's the most you can get out of this amp with these subs. You can get 900 watts at 2 ohms out of this amp. But you can't use these subs because it goes over the max rms rating of 400 watts per sub. So if your cool with 500 watts buy this package but if your looking for 900 watts your gonna have to buy a different set of subs because these just simply can't handle the power.

so worth 450 big ones

Pros: not many big ones needed to buy this

Cons: the terminals on the amp suck if you're using 4 gauge wire.

Kenwood Bass Power Package

Jeff M from Chicago, IL on 7/10/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Impressive performance for a reasonable price! I originally bought the JL Audio powered 10" subwoofer and quickly replaced it with this package. Huge difference for a great deal. I have always been partial to JL Audio products but I'm very impressed with the quality and performance of this Kenwood package. I wired this package in to my 05 Accord and have not been disappointed at all. The 12's hit hard and fit nicely in the box it comes with. WIth this package, I don't feel like I wasted my money or that anything is lacking with the unit. Kenwood has definitely up'ed their game and I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I would suggest that anyone buying this unit purchase dynomat to control the vibrations. You defiantly will feel the power this unit puts out. Make sure to pay attention to the wiring suggestion crutch field posts on the page or you could blow your new subs easily. They do mention that the amp is a bit more powerful than the power handling of the subs. But if you follow their suggestion and adjust the amp accordingly, there will be no problem.

Pros: Great price Good quality package

Cons: Could include subs with a power rating equal to or more powerful than the amp (so you dont have to worry about blowing the subs) Can tip easily so make sure to strap it down or use stick on velcro strips to keep it in place

Can't even describe how awesome they are! This is my first sub system. I replaced my original speakers with infinity 6030's and put a Kenwood excelon head unit in it. After putting these bad boys in, I was blown away. This bass is booming and is very tight. Doesn't overpower the speakers and just all around a very good subs. People who hear them often ask me if they are kickers and I tell them no they are Kenwood's and they say holy crap! They sound so much better than kicker! I would recommend these over ANY sub system including the famous Kickers.

Pros: Tight controlled bass

Cons: That people who hear it want them

Great subs, Great price.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Great subs. Easy too hook up. Pound hard and amp seems to stay cool and not overheat. I have the amp turned down and it still shakes everything. For all your Dubstep fans.. The subs sound great to the beats. I'd advised redoing door speakers and wire them to an amp also. If I didn't do that the bass would be took much and overwhelm the highs. Overall very happy with them. My sound system sounds great.

Pros: Cool looking sub design, easy to install, amp stays cool, tech support to help, subs pound hard and you cant beat the price.

Cons: Nothing besides my car still stinks of glue from the box lol.

Hits hard and clean

Pros: Everything

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was just looking for a box. Come onto Crutchfield website. Found the bass package. Its was nice to have it all come together as one package. So i decide to buy it . Put it in the car, and man does it jamm... Love it. The most bass i had ever from just two twelve. Have a emtpy gatorade in the back dash. It comes about 4 inches off the dash ever time the bass hits. Nice product worth the money

Pros: Worth the money. Plus it made it nice to have the free shipping. That was a good plus. Taking in too count on how heavy it was.

Cons: It would have been nice to have a complete wire kit rated for that system. Would not have to run all over town to find the one i need. If that was in there that would have put it over the top..

These will make your ears feel like they are screaming in agony, but will not allow them to open their..... ear mouths? I put these in a Caravan along with 4 280W (PEAK) Pioneer speakers (5 1\4 Front & 6x9 Rear), powered by a Kenwood Excelon x895. The system sounds great so far, without having messed with the amps settings further since the initial install. Great bang for your buck.

Pros: Very loud, great quality audio when amp is properly tuned together with a good head unit.

Cons: Had to pay for it >_>.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This was my first set of subs and after much deliberation, i settled on this bass package. The quality of the box amazed me, it is very well constructed and wrapped in nice heavy duty carpet. Each of the subs is very high quality, and kenwood delivered on them. The 9105d amp has tons of power to push these subs and they bump! Still have the Bass Boost and Gain really low for break in, i think i might blow off my trunk lid when i turn it up. Paired with the RFK8i wiring kit and posi products connectors and a Kenwood 348u head unit, i love my new car stereo.

Mono Amplifier

Class D Amplifier Design: The KAC-9105D is a Class D mono-block amplifier, which uses digital switching to amplify audio signals. This design results in high efficiency and less heat.

MOSFET Switching Power Supply: The amplifier utilizes a MOSFET switching power supply providing thermal stability and efficient switching speeds guaranteeing performance and dependability.

Mono-Power Amp Design: The Kenwood KAC-9105D is designed with specific features to power your subwoofers with a frequency range between 10-200 Hz. The amplifier can handle impedance loads down to 1-ohm.

CEA 2006 Compliant: The KAC-9105D's power ratings are measured according to the strict standards dictated by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). These standards allow you to accurately compare the rated power output of all CEA 2006-compliant amplifiers, even if they come from different brands. Manufacturers who adhere to the standards can display the CEA 2006 logo on their products and packaging. Amplifier Power Ratings:

  • Mono-Channel (4-ohm): 500 watts x 1 channel RMS (20-200 Hz, 1% THD)
  • Mono-Channel (2-ohm): 900 watts x 1 channel RMS (100 Hz, 1% THD)
  • Mono-Channel (1-ohm): over 900 watts x 1 channel
  • Peak Power: 1800 watts x 1 channel

Note: This amplifier is not designed to power a full-range speaker.

Cast Aluminum Heat Sink: The Kenwood KAC-9105D utilizes a cast aluminum heat sink design to ensure that the amplifier stays at its optimal temperature.

Fan Cooled: There are two fans and two vents located on the back side of the amplifier to help dissipate heat and ensure cool, reliable operation. Make sure not to block these vents or fans when you install the amplifier.

Protection circuitry: The amplifier features protection circuits that will turn the amp off in case of the following events:

  • Speaker output contacts ground
  • Speaker wire short-circuits
  • Unit malfunctions and DC is sent to speaker output

Aluminum Cover Plate: The amplifier's controls and connections are hidden under a removable extruded aluminum cover plate. The cover plate provides a professional looking installing while helping to protect the amplifier's connections and control settings. The cover is held in place by two hex head screws. An allen-wrench is supplied to remove the cover.

Blue/Red Illumination: The Kenwood Mono-Channel amplifier features a blue and red LED illumination when the amplifier is turned on. When the power is turned on to the amplifier, the Power indicator will light up red. This indicator will turn off with the amplifier and will turn off if the amplifier goes into protect mode. The amplifier also features a Blue LED lamp on the top of the amplifier which illuminates when the amplifier is on.

Signal-sensing Turn-On Circuitry: When the speaker-level input is used, it is not necessary to connect the power control wire (turn-on lead). The amplifier senses the signal from the speaker-level input and turns the amplifier power on automatically. Shortly after no signal is detected, the amplifier will automatically shut itself off.

  • Gain: To accommodate the varying range of signal levels coming from today's factory and aftermarket radios, the Kenwood KAC-9105D features an adjustable, independent gain control (0.2-5.0V). This means that no matter what kind of radio is connected to this amplifier, the appropriate gain control adjustment can be made to ensure loud, clear, distortion-free music.
  • Low-Pass Filter: The KAC-9105D has a built-in 24dB/octave low-pass filter that is continuously variable from 50Hz to 200Hz.
  • Bass Boost: The bass boost is adjustable from 0-18dB at 40Hz.
  • Phase Switch: This amplifier is equipped with a 2-way phase switch. You can choose 0° (normal phase) or 180° (reverse phase), whichever position results in stronger performance for the subwoofer.
  • Infrasonic Filter: This amp features an 18dB/octave Infrasonic Filter. Ultra-low frequencies that cannot be reproduced by a subwoofer do not become sound but become unnecessary oscillations, which affect sound by causing distortion. These frequencies also waste amplifier power and can cause damage to speakers. Setting the Infrasonic filter switch to 15Hz or 25Hz cuts the frequencies below the respective frequency to improve the reproduction performance of the speakers by eliminating harmful distortion.

  • Power Connections: The power and ground connections are 0.5625" wide screw terminals that will accommodate up to 4-gauge wire. The remote turn-on terminal is 0.3125" wide and will accept up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are recommended for the power, ground, and remote wires.
  • Speaker Outputs: The Kenwood KAC-9105D is equipped with two pairs of gold-plated speaker terminals for an easy parallel subwoofer connection. All four speaker terminals are 0.3125" wide screw terminals and will accommodate up to 8-gauge wire. A Phillips-head or flat blade screw driver (not supplied) is required to tighten/loosen the terminals. Spade connectors are recommended for the speaker wires.
  • Line Level Input: The mono-channel amplifier is equipped with a single pair of gold-plated RCA line level inputs.
  • Speaker Level Input: The KAC-9105D comes with a two channel speaker level input harness. Once you splice the speaker wires from the receiver to the harness, you have plug-in convenience to the amplifier. This feature makes it easier to add an amplifier to a factory radio or to a receiver with no preamp outputs. The maximum power output from the source receiver can be no more than 40 watts.
  • Line Level Output: The amplifier has a pair of gold-plated RCA line level outputs for feeding a full-range stereo signal to another amplifier. It is the same signal that is input through the line inputs. The amplifier's crossovers have no effect on the line level output signal.
  • Fuses: The KAC-9105D is equipped with three 30 amp ATC blade fuses.

Dual 12-inch Subwoofers

Cone: The KFC-W3013PS uses a polypropylene cone and rubber surround for added durability.

Heat Transfer System: A dual ventilation system designed helps keep the motor structure cool, improving power handling and longevity.

Long Stroke Design: The pole piece has been extended to provide a more linear magnetic field for woofer operation. This lowers distortion and provides the woofer with better low frequency response.

Double Stacked Magnet: The stacked magnet assembly is used to create a powerful linear motor with increased excursion capability for superior bass output.

Spring Terminals: The spring post terminals on one side of the woofer connect to your amplifier's wiring. The posts will accept pin connectors, single banana plugs, or bare wire up to 10 gauge.

1 question already asked

gerald, it is the best buy i have ever made. i have the amp at 8/18 and my car base at -5 and the subs still hit harder than anything i have ever listened to. i completely recommend you buy it.and the amp is easily adjustable. i went to 12/18 for a day and it honestly was too much, so the single amp is fine. [ RYAN  Dec 18, 2013 ]
The subs work great with the mono amp. They hit really hard and the gain is truned way down. I'm sure this will work those subs great. Only down side is that you can only get a 2om load. That's my down side I guess. [ NATHAN J  Dec 18, 2013 ]
I am very pleased with them very clear and crisp sound. [ STEVE  Dec 18, 2013 ]
