AudioQuest's Black Lab cable delivers all the deep bass goodness your powered subwoofer is capable of. This cable features two identical conductors, and each conductor is a single, unbroken strand of AudioQuest's high-purity Long-Grain Copper. Solid conductors eliminate electrical and magnetic interference that can make multi-strand conductor cables sound brittle.
Black Lab features RCA connectors made of gold-plated copper. The connectors are fastened by cold welding — a solder-less process that uses high pressure and silver paste to minimize signal loss. By contrast, solder tends to impede the signal, and heating the copper conductor can negatively affect its performance.
Average Customer Review(s):
Great cable for sub woofer and so easy to hook up. All should be this easy and sounds great!
This is my second AudioQuest subwoofer cable purchase since I now have 2 subwoofers. My old one was a Monster cable which worked fine, but this is a little cheaper and feels like better quality. Also it is non directional, the ground wire is available in case of hum. Not an issue in my case.
Don't know if it was any better!!!
Great cable, high quality. Just make sure you get one long enough!
Pretty basic. I'm assuming that the little grounding thingy does what it's supposed to if needed. I didn't need it ... My Infinity sub sounds pretty awesome using this connection.
Cons: good god it cost this much
Great sub-woofer cord.
I have not had any feedback or humming/ interference issues. Quality seems up to par for the price. I would purchase again.
Pros: Excellent sound/ Reliable
Great price and provides deep bass.
I really like the thin cable size. It makes routing easier and my signal seems to be clear as can be.
It works greats! No hums, just works!
Pros: It works
What more can you say? But the grounding wire is a nice feature, and it is long enough to reach grounding screws on the receiver and subwoofer, without being so long that it gets in the way of other cables.
So easy the exwife couldnt screw this up. Lol
Perfect cable to connect my SVS sub to my surround receiver. Just the right length, delivers the bass !!
Pros: Good price for the quality
Well, it's just a cable, but it does the job. And thanks to Kevin for mentioning it (I did need it for my new subwoofer), and for being patient holding on the phone, while I measured the distance.
Pros: Just the length I needed, with just the right slack. Connected easily. Cable has ground wires if needed. Reasonably priced.
Doubled up as suggested by sub. manufacturer. Trust Audioquest for optimal performance.
Pros: choice of length, quality.
Very simple to connect.
Pros: Quality of overall product
Well constructed. Performed as advertised.
Pros: Puts out a really good soumd
Long subwoofer cable I was looking for. Liked ground wire as a bonus
Pros: Long, well designed, ground wire, worked flawlessly, no noise or hum from subwoofer.
works as advertised
Pros: does what it supposed to do
Cons: none yet
Appears to be a high quality accessory. Works well.
Pros: Integral grounding wire is an added benefit and safeguard.
Cons: None with the product. Should have ordered longer one for my particular installation.
Works Well, appears durable
The old. Onkyo Receiver, Bose 6.1 system that's 10 years old, still sounded good and was working well, buy It was out of date. No bluetooth, wifi, usb, etc... In with the New! Yamaha Aventage RX-A840 purchased from a different online retailer. Everything else is from Crutchfield. Cables are AudioQuest Pearl & Cinnamon HDMI. Speaker cables are AudioQuest Type 4 & Rocket 33 for speakers & Black Lab for Sub. SVS SB-1000 Sub (Scratch & Dent) Focal Chorus 705 Bookshelf Speakers & Focal Chorus 716 Floor Speakers. Center Channel Klipsch RP-440C. And all housed in a Rosewood 7ft x 9ft entertainment center with a 3 yr old LED Samsung 50 in TV. I probably spent $3K 10 yrs ago and I did not use AudioQuest cables. The old system was nice, but my ears have matured away from Bose since upgrading my car system to Focal, listening to Hi-Res music files with a DAC, and having high end Headphones and Earbuds. I understand there are much nicer systems for a lot more money. But, for the money, I am a very happy customer. I would have loved to use a Focal Center, but I needed a center that could hold my TV, and Klipsch had one. The sound is amazingly Smooth, balanced, and powerful! Everything blends well despite being a front facing 5.1 system. I get Great separation on movies, music, and TV programs. Yamaha does an excellent job of processing and I don't miss having speakers behind or beside me. Very clean Highs, Mids & Lows singing in perfect harmony...
Pros: Build Quality! Sound! Warranty!
Quality Sound Reproduce
Pros: True Sound Coming Thru
great subwoofer cable, no complaints
My Crutchfield advisor added this cable to my order when we specced out a system. I needed an LFE cable, but this much for this thing??? I was surprised when I saw the price in the order confirmation. I'm alright with buying heavier gauge copper wires for high end speakers and whatnot, to an extent. I have 20 year old monster cable that still works great. But here I think you get about 20 dollars worth of actual value and 30 dollars hype out of these. It's an LFE cable, how fancy must it be?
Pros: Nice looking
Cons: expensiiiiive, can't really tell it makes a signal difference.
Very well made sturdy cables
Pros: great product
Nice cable that has a decent length that facilitates speaker placement in the listening area. It made a distinct difference in the sub woofers performance.
Pros: Price is not excessive and the addition of grounding wires can prevent humming noise issues that occurs with other cables.
I have the (255C-RT) and in walls (RC55i's) and 2 Polk Subs (PSW 108 and 111) for a 7.2 effect. It's a great combo for the size of room I have!
I was very pleased with this cable. The sound quality is great and it is flexible enough for tight spaces.
Pros: Quality of construction and sound.
I needed a subwoofer wire and this is what was recommended by advisor and they work great
Pros: Simple as can be great functioning
Cons: The only downside is I wish they would make this in a shorter wire the sub woofer is right beside the wall and it would be nice to have a short subwoofer wire
Great cable - sound quality is fantastic, and the cable was relatively easy to feed through the wall.
needed the cord for Samsung HD 4k TV and Subwoofer. Worked perfect after install. RAdio Shack cords didn't work as well. had to return.
Awesome subwoofer cable made my subwoofer sound twice as loud and clear. Another great product from AudioQuest. Also thank you for the great customer service from Crutchfield.
Pros: Better sound
Works Great with My new Sub. Produces great Quality
This is a amazing cable and you get what you pay for. All my cables for my home theater system are Audio Quest and yes good cables make a big difference in picture and sound. Thank you Crutchfield
Pros: Only Audio Quest
No hum. Quality cable
Great subwoofer cable. Worth the extra money . Can defiantly hear the different from the last cable I bought.
Pros: Great value. Nice thick cable.
Cons: Nothing as of yet.
Very nice quality, and does its job very nicely. No hums, statics or problems what so ever. Highly recommend.
Pros: No hums, or static. And seems to be nice quality.
Cons: none, wish I would have got a longer one:P
New to Audioquest but the cables seem to do well.
Pros: New to brand so still listening
Great speaker wires! Crutchfield gave me a good recommendation!
Pros: Good Clarity
Exactly what I ordered
No hum, just great sound!
Great sound! Worth the price!
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Wish it were less expensive...but worth it for the great sound quality
A few months ago I purchased a powered sub-woofer (from Crutchfield). After hooking up to an old sub-woofer cable which ran ~ 35 feet under my living room, I noticed a hum in certain locations of the room. With the advice of my Crutchfield salesperson, I began adjusting the amount of gain and low pass frequency on the new sub-woofer. This seemed to work on and off for a few days. However, since this humming annoyance continued to repeat itself, my salesperson had me examine the old cable and I noticed the end from the receiver differed from the end going to the sub-woofer. This wiring had been installed by someone else and there was a short extension cable at both ends of the sub-woofer cable to meet the distance required! So my salesperson had just the answer with this 39.4 foot Audio Quest Black Lab cable. Since then I have thoroughly enjoyed great bass and freedom from hum! ZILCH! I also think the price for this lengthy cable was very reasonable and I might add even better with some reward points!
Pros: Not bulky or "stiff" so easy to thread through a small hole to run beneath a floor and be out of view. Allows for a clean and "healthy" bass sound with no hum or interference.
Cons: None to date.
So far so good. The Sub sounds great! Good quality cable.
Pros: Great quality, and great sound from my sub.
Solid Long-Grain Copper (LGC) Conductors: Solid conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion. Black Lab's solid Long-Grain Copper allows a smoother and clearer sound than cables using regular OFHC (Oxygen-Free High-Conductivity) copper. OFHC is a general metal industry specification regarding "loss" without any concern for distortion. LGC has fewer oxides within the conducting material, less impurities, less grain boundaries, and definitively better performance.
Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation: Black Lab uses air-filled Foamed-Polyethylene Insulation on both conductors because air absorbs next to no energy and Polyethylene is low-loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the out-of-focus effect common to other materials.
Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation System (NDS): AudioQuest's Noise-Dissipation System prevents a significant amount of RFI from reaching the equipment's ground plane.
Symmetrical Coax Geometry: Identical positive (+) and negative (-) conductors prevent the shield being used as an inferior audio conductor.
Cold-Welded Gold-Plated Plugs: This plug design allows for a connection without the use of solder, which is a common source of distortion. Because the ground shells are stamped instead of machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion instead of machinability.
Grounding: If you hear noticeable hum in your system after connecting your subwoofer, please attach the subwoofer cable's ground leads to your audio gear. Some audio equipment have a ground (GND) connection on the back-panel, if not, attach the ground spade lugs to any screw on the equipment chassis of both the source and the subwoofer. Usually, this wire will not need to be connected.

Yes you can run this in your wall .I have mine running under the sub floor and carpet no problems. The sound quality from the Infiniti sub is excellent [ MICHAEL Jul 02, 2015 ]
The cable is perfectly acceptable, but the problem will be snaking the thick cable through the walls. So unless you are addressing new construction or a substantive remodeling job, you might want to consider cable raceways or channels. [ GARRETT Jul 01, 2015 ]
Hi Aaron, Yes it is. Unfortunately I had mine go bad but they come with a five year warranty. So I sent it back to audio quest and they sent me another. I have two but of course the one that went bad was the one in the wall. I hope this helps. Don. [ DONALD Jun 30, 2015 ]
Yes it is. I pre-wired my house with two of these for my theater. Just remember not to run the wire parallel with the electrical in your home. [ Christopher Jun 30, 2015 ]
