Here's a nifty way to add GPS guidance and hands-free calling to your vehicle, without having to replace your factory radio. Boyo's VTG43 rear-view mirror houses a 4.3" touchscreen, GPS navigation, and built-in Bluetooth, along with a host of other cool features. This versatile mirror clips onto or replaces your existing mirror, giving you a clear view of the road behind you and a powerful driving tool for all your road trips.

Built-in GPS navigation system
The right side of the VTG43 mirror features a 4.3" touchscreen that allows you to tap into comprehensive maps of the U.S. and Canada, along with over 11 million points of interest. Text-to-speech functionality calls out the street name for your next turn, letting you keep your eyes on the road ahead. With a few taps of your finger, you can enter your destination, zoom in on the map, change your view, and access many other functions. Plus, you can update your maps through the mirror's handy SD™ card slot.

Bluetooth operation
Pair up your compatible phone, and you'll be able to make and receive calls while keeping your hands on the wheel. You simply press the Bluetooth icon to make a call, and a large phone keypad pops up on your screen. You'll see the phone number of incoming calls on the screen when a call comes in.

Rear-view camera and more
The mirror also includes three video inputs, two of them designed for rear-view cameras. When you put your vehicle in reverse, you'll get a wide-angle rear view on the GPS side of the mirror — especially helpful if you have a larger vehicle or are towing a trailer. Connect a DVD player or other source to the other video input, and you can watch movies when you're parked. You can view eBooks and photo stored on SD cards, and you can even activate the built-in FM transmitter to send music from an SD card to your factory radio.

Bluetooth note: Bluetooth compatibility of this device may vary, depending on your phone and service provider.

Important note: You'll have to wire this mirror directly to your fuse box — professional installation recommended. Most areas prohibit video device playback within a driver's line-of-sight while operating a motor vehicle; check your local regulations.

It does what is says it is going to do

LASenior from Long Island on 4/8/2012

I recently bought a Chevy Equinox, that did not have the navigation unit already from the factory. I needed rear camera, navi, and bluetooth, since my previous car had a Pioneer F90bt. The camera in the Equinox is a must, since the rear is so high, so instead of getting a custom install for a indash unit I opted for the Rear view mirror nav setup. As you probably know, there are not a lot of reviews online for any of these units, and I heard the Rydeen system needs to be re paired with the bluetooth enabled phone each time the car is turned on, and the Aztech. Overall it's a very good unit for around 300. I had a pro install the unit, since I was also doing the back up cam, and having an Onstar mirror uninstalled. I am happy with the purchase, but with a little more, this could of been a great product. I don't understand why more manufacturers don't do this for their cars/trucks Cons:

Pros: The Navigation is a 4.3 inch screen that worked as advertised. I found the input easy to use Found every location immediately The phone paired to the bluetooth (after 2nd attempt) People who I called told me I sounded clear The back up camera has day mode and infrared Camera comes right on when car put into reverse Has input options for additional media inputs

Cons: I am used to the Pioneer F90bt the says the name of the streets to turn onto instead of a chime. The speaker for the bluetooth option needs to be louder, you will need to turn your radio to a minimal in order to hear. The mirror itself is cheap. not the housing, but the actual doesn't look like it's glass at all. The back up camera should have the guide lines in it. Do i really want to play MP3's from my mirror? Wish the audio was able to come out of speaker

Nifty, New, obviously with a few glitches

The Breakdown Its a really good idea, all those features in a one unit that doesn't get in the way. Navmate Navteq GPS, 3 video inputs, plays videos/mp3/pictures/bt hands free... is it worth the price? maybe. if you're looking for the cool factor and don't use your GPS expensively to search for everything. The Pros/the good stuff Its quick, the interface is much faster then a few of the other competitors. this one is def. faster gps is decent no flash though, and i haven't been able to find a way to update. The software comes on those annoying mini CD's so i haven't been able to install it at all so far, but we try and use another computer when i can and see if it works for an update. The BT connects easily, functionality is not bad, basic answering, dialing features nothing fancy. GPS Nav is functional, cold starts are not too bad 2min or so, warm start is not bad under a min... so far the POI's and so forth have been a little disappointing, which is why i was hoping for an update but there seems to be no support for the product. The Rear view camera, the screen will auto switch as soon as it detects a signal on V1 input, BUT for some reason i it will switch and all i get a white screen nothing else, i tried it on another monitor and it seems to work fine, no real issues, so i'm not what is going on there and can't seem to find anyone at Boyo that can help.

Very Poor Product

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Not only is the GPS extremely dated in technology, you have to endure a very poorly lit screen that is not viewable during the day. It is very slow and displays a start up screen for what seems to be an eternity when it is powering on. The installler could not get the backup camera to work even though it is a BOYO backup camera. Finally, it is the quality one would find at a Flea market. It looks nothin like the image online and is very cheaply made.

Could be better

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Good idea. But, every time the device comes on you have to acknowledge the gps disclaimer. Aldo unit does not boot up to the map. You have to menu your way to navigation. Volume is too low also. AND worst problem is mirror does not have a night mode. Glare kills ya...

My Toyota dealer recommended this product as an after-market option. Being that I wanted a GPS, bluetooth and backup camera, this product seemed like the perfect solution. It was a pricey option through the Toyota dealer at just under $1000, incl install by a 3rd party installer. The product is disappointing: The speaker is built in to the mirror and faces the windshield, so it is difficult to hear GPS commands or telephone connections, especially if it is raining, the wipers are on and the AC or heat are running. The mic. pickup for the bluetooth is on the right side of the mirror - not close to the driver's side - and recipients of calls state that the sound of my voice is tunnel-like and hard to hear. Having the GPS on the mirror sounded like a nifty way to quickly glance to see the map, but it's too small to be easily visible by the driver. The instructions for setting up "my favorites" in the address book or POIs leave much to be desired. I still cannot get my favorite POIs to save under "my favorites." An email to BOYO customer service for assistance did not result in any response from BOYO whatsoever! For the price, it may be better to work around the inconvenience of a portable device at nearly 10X cost that can do GPS and now many have bluetooth connections as well. The backup camera is pretty good, but takes some getting used to. My suggestion is to think twice before purchasing this product.

When Nothing Else Works...

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently purchased a pre-owned 2004 Infinity FX-35 w/o a factory GPS option. Unfortunately, I learned afterwards that there are no aftermarket stereo/GPS/Bluetooth substitutions available for an in-dash installation in this particular model. Furthermore, we didn't want a surface mount GPS with exposed wires hanging all over the dash. We contacted a Crutchfield Advisor and learned about the BOYO Mirror/GPS with blutooth. I had the unit professionally installed with a rear view camera. The unit looks and performs as well as the in-dash unit in my other vehicle. We are extremely satisfied the BOYO product over a similar unit we tried for a short period that wasn't so "SMART". This unit does everything it says it does and looks like a factory installed option. PROS: The unit functions properly and has more features than it's competitor;Built-in microphone and GPS antenna makes for a cleaner installation. Cons: speaker volume good but could be louder for noiser situations;Quality of rear-view mirror could be improved upon. OVERALL: This unit is a great add-on at a very reasonable price when addind a GPS/Bluetooth w/a rear camera option. We strongly recommend the BOYO over all others.
