Our take on the Etón Rugged Rukus by Crutchfield's Ralph Graves
Spending quality time in the sun? Whether you're camping in the mountains or lying on the beach, just add an Etón Rugged Rukus to your smartphone or tablet, and you've got an instant party. This solar-powered speaker system was made for the great outdoors, where there's no power outlet in sight.
The Rugged Rukus can recharge your smartphone — even while running on battery power.
Stream music wirelessly via Bluetooth from your smartphone or tablet. You're not limited to the songs stored on your device. Enjoy audio from any app or Internet source you can access. Beats Music™, Pandora® Internet radio, Spotify®, YouTube™ — if you can hear it on your device, you'll hear it through the Rugged Rukus.
Solar-powered — and power to spare
The Rugged Rukus delivers about eight hours of continuous operation from its built-in rechargeable batteries. The system can completely recharge in less than five hours via its solar panel, in direct sunlight. When you're home, you can use the included USB cable to recharge your Rukus from your computer.
The system's USB charging port lets you recharge your smartphone or other portable — even when the Rugged Rukus is running on battery power.
Ready to go
The Rugged Rukus was designed for convenient portability. It's small enough to be easily carried in one hand. Integrated loops in the frame were made for carabiners. Hang the Rukus from your backpack and let it charge as you hike.
The rubberized frame is splash-proof. So don't worry about using it near water — be it poolside, at the lake, the river, or just when you're caught in the rain.
Very nice. Won't charge my iPad but it maintain's it at it's current level ("Not Charging"). Sound is great for such a small set of speakers.

I believe so. I haven't charged mine much and it works great! [ WILLIAM T Aug 14, 2014 ]
I am not sure but at the beach it would last all day and I would plug it in most nights. Never really ran out of power. I have a small jbl that I love but only get about 2 hours before it needs recharged. [ Jeff Aug 14, 2014 ]
I have only used it one day at the beach, I used it in the sun for like 6-7 hours and charged my phone with it. Then another 2-3 hrs when dark. It was fully charged when I took it out to the beach. [ Jonathan Aug 14, 2014 ]
As far as I can tell yes. As long as it is outside it charges. You don't have to put it in direct sunlight. The sound quality is good and it connects to my bluetooth on my cellphone with no problems. [ Rickey Aug 14, 2014 ]
