These ceiling mount brackets made my new construction pre-wire a breeze. It allowed me to identify exactly where in the ceiling I wanted my speakers to be placed. The instructions were not clear on how to mount them. There were visual instructions printed on the box, but they didn't really clarify which side was in the wall vs. outside of the wall. The rough side is outside and is where the speaker would slide into. Very happy with the bracket.

Pros: Simple Easy Install Cost effective

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I am building a new home and had these installed where my rear surrounds will go. For my installation, the plastic part was screwed to a ceiling truss, and a single strap was screwed to the opposite truss. Very simple, and now I know that the drywallers will do a great job.

Pros: Perfect fit for my Klipsch speakers.

Cons: Had to examine the pieces to understand how everything was to be installed. It's a very well engineered product but needs some simple explanations on how to install. I would guess that 90% of buyers will figure it out just fine.

smooth install

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The install was pretty easy everything went smooth with no hiccups at all. Cant complain. This went in before the drywall went up so that is a big part of it.

Pros: Very durable and self explanatory with plenty of mounting straps.

Cons: No screws included but i like to use my own. And no instructions, i guess if you need them you shouldnt be installing them.

Hands-on research

Product Research

Overview: The Klipsch IK-650-C installation kit offers increased mounting flexibility for all of Klipsch residential in-ceiling speakers that employ a 6.5" woofer. This installation kit also fits Klipsch's commercial IC-5T in-ceiling speakers. This installation kit design incorporates two color-coded brackets for easy speaker size identification. A flat side with a raised wall allows it to be mounted directly to a joist, making it much easier to align the speakers with other items in the ceiling. The kit also comes with four perforated metal wings that easily fasten to the studs via screws, staples or nails. Ribbed for increased rigidity, these wings enable a kit to span up to 24 inches easily. Painted white for easy marking and placement, these metal wings will fold around the edge of the studs if necessary.

1 question already asked

Each speaker requires one mounting ring and two metal straps. check with the Crutchfield team to determine if your size is sold as a single or a pair. [ LARRY  Feb 13, 2018 ]
Is this for new construction or remodel? [ Nathan  Feb 12, 2018 ]
it comes with 2 in a pack. I've installed quite a few in cieling speakers though and have come to the conclusion that the bracket isn't really all that necessary. It is helpful to get a good well measured hole, but outside of that, it isn't required [ Irfan  Feb 12, 2018 ]
The CDT3650 and R3650 kits are two to a package so you will need two each. The R-5502 is one to a package so you only need one. [ Rob  Feb 12, 2018 ]
