Our take on the Klipsch IK-800-C

If you're building a new home, you can simplify the installation of the Klipsch® CDT-2800-C II, CDT-3800-C, R-1800-C or R-2800-CSM in-ceiling speakers with these pre-construction brackets. Install them before the drywall goes up to mark the speaker locations for your builder, and you won't need to cut holes later. The metal wings attach to studs and joists via screws, staples, or nails.

Sturdy after install. Worked like a champ.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Amazing quality! After looking at other options, that appeared to be small pieces of plastic I went with these and the Klipsch speakers instead. I am so glad I did. The beefy mounts allow screwing into studs, and the metal extender things are very sturdy and reach to the other joist. Once screwed in, I just bent them over the joist and installed another screw there. These are not only a good way to let the drywall installer get the hole correct, these are supporting the weight of the speaker so not all the weight is resting on the drywall. I had them installed in about 10 minutes each.

Pros: Extremely high quality.

Cons: Only works with Klipsch speakers. Not really a con unless you wanted to use these with another brand. The rep at Crutchfield told me that they will only work with Klipsch speakers. Although I have a feeling they might work with other brands as long as the diameter of the speaker is the same.

These are a must for new construction, why spend the money on high end speakers only to have the sheet rock guy cover them up. Since install the sheet rock is up and the install looks great!

Pros: Very easy to install, also have a spot to zip tie you wire to the bracket.

Cons: None

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

The product was easy to install. The only issue I had was that there were no instructions. Once I figured out the best options to install on studs or using the wings...easy-breezy.

Pros:

Cons: no real instructions

Features

Overview: The Klipsch IK-800-C installation kit offers increased mounting flexibility for all of Klipsch residential in-ceiling speakers that employ a 8.0" woofer. This installation kit also fits Klipsch's commercial IC-6T in-ceiling speakers. This installation kit design incorporates two color-coded brackets for easy speaker size identification. A flat side with a raised wall allows it to be mounted directly to a joist, making it much easier to align the speakers with other items in the ceiling. The kit also comes with four perforated metal wings that easily fasten to the studs via screws, staples or nails. Ribbed for increased rigidity, these wings enable a kit to span up to 24 inches easily. Painted white for easy marking and placement, these metal wings will fold around the edge of the studs if necessary.

Thanks for your question. If you are measuring from the flat bottom edge to the opposite edge it would be 11.125". The other two sides are 12.5" from edge to edge. Hope this helps. [ Kenny  May 08, 2017 ]  Staff
