High-impact bookshelf speakers

The Klipsch RB-600 is sure to please music and movie lovers alike with its combination of solid construction and powerful performance. From complex music passages to the demanding soundtrack of an action movie, this Special Limited Reference Edition series speaker delivers exceptionally clear and powerful sound.

Horn technology for dynamic performance

Klipsch RB600B bookshelf speaker

The RB-600 uses a horn-loaded tweeter. A flared opening in the enclosure projects high frequencies toward your listening area and prevents sound waves from simply spilling out in all directions. This horn design brings out details in everything you listen to, while reducing reflections that can color the sound. The horn also improves dynamics and efficiency, for powerful, "front row" sound that remains crystal-clear at all volume levels.

High-tech construction

The RB-600's Cerametallic™ woofer dishes out smooth midrange and articulate, well-defined bass. Klipsch makes its cone out of specially treated aluminum that's strong yet lightweight to dampen and prevent distortion. A rigid cabinet with resonance-fighting internal bracing houses both the woofer and the tweeter. It all adds up to remarkably accurate reproduction of all your music and movies.

Build a complete Klipsch system

My first experience with Klipsch. I feel fortunate to have been able to obtain these speakers through the Outlet Store and find it difficult to believe that the RB600 replacement could be better.

Perfect little bookshelf speakers good price for Klipsch. Best pair of speakers you could ask for in this price range. Lots of bass for their size. Sound great at any volume.

Pros: Sound lots of sound across the spectrum bass mid treble. Price is right. Look amazing. Klipsch quality last me a lifetime.

Cons: None

I don't know if these will be good...

Jon from Cleveland, OH on 7/15/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are great at low to medium volume levels. Bass is also very good for a stand mounted speaker. That being said, when driven at high volumes, the midrange gets very harsh--or at least it does now, with 100 hours on them. I'll have to check back after they have more hours...more LOUD hours.

I love the RB-600's

kelekolio from kealakekua, hawaii on 7/4/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was looking for 2 speakers to complete my 7 channel Marantz surround system and these did the trick. My other speakers are the Bose Acoustimass and a pair of Bose 901's. They all work in harmony and sound like I'm in a movie theater or at a concert!

Pros: Very smart styling and good sound range.

Cons: None.

great service and fantastic seakers

rprasloski from Sarasota, FL on 7/3/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

dealt with two different product advisors and they both gave very good service and were straight forward, questions asked were answered quickly and accurately. The RB600 I bought were scratch and dent so was expecting a mark or banana plug change - only marks were on the outside of box otherwise the speakers were pristine. I had purchased to replace a pair of Kef C2 bookshelf which were nice but these wow sound clarity and looks are fantastic - good solid build and have loved the magnetic grills for a while. mostly listen to classic Rock and blues / grassroots, and watch action movies they work for my needs perfectly. great dealings

Pros: service and product quality bettter than described great bookshelf speaker

Cons: none yet and dont expect any

Exactly what I expected from Klipsch, full range sound from book shelf speakers. clean and crisp sound from my 30 year old turntable and Kenwood receiver.

Pros: Tight base with clean highs, low power requirements

Cons: Base is limited but still excellent for bookshelf speakers.

hellion from Crossett, Arkansas on 6/10/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was a little hesitant about the RB 600 for fear they would not compare to my 5.1 Klipsh system that cost me over $5000. My front speakers are RF7's and are the monster's of my system. Adding 7.2 was seamless with the RB 600's from Crutchfield and the highs and lows solidified together, It was amazing. If you want awesome surround or bookshelf speakers, these speakers are for you:) I also tested the RB 600 on my oscilloscope and they meet their rating's big time!!!

Pros: The magnetic speaker grill's were a big Improvement. My Reference 7's mounting plastic tabs are all broken.

Cons: They look to small for the solid bass.

vibrant sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These ladies have a very bright, clear sound. They make a lovely center channel speaker system when wired in parallel. This also allows more power to your center channel, as most good amps love 4 ohm loads.

Pros: heavy (no rattles) good reputation wide sound field.

Cons: cost,always!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Third set of Klipsch speakers. The speakers are better than the Yamaha components. They were a tremendous value for the price. They are simple, basic and fundamental. In the world of complicated "stereo" components, to hook them up it can be done with a good pocket knife (standard with us southern boys), banana plugs and Monster cable. If you want booksehlef speakers, there are non bettter at this price point! They can handle eloquently Debussy's Claire deLune as well as all the Foo Fighters can throw at them not to mention the delicate voice of the late, great Donny Hathaway.

Pros: Great price. Good cabinet workmanship. Simple to install

Cons: Position in the room does make a difference. I have moved them around.

Very satisfying for musical reproduction.

3rd Day Believer from Manhattan, NY on 5/6/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I'm not listening to these Klipsch under the most ideal circumstances. They're positioned at the end of a rather small but long kitchen, powered by a Yamaha 659 receiver which has plenty of oomph and low distortion. Also slaved to that receiver is a Polk 10" subwoofer, and before anybody starts disqualifying me as a reviewer, note that my main system is vintage, a Pioneer PD-65 CD player, into a (modern) Beresford DAC, into a Crown IC-150 pre-amp, into a Crown DC-300A amp, into Rectilinear III "Highboys." So I do know what music should sound like from a big box system, as it were. And while there's no comparison between that system and this one, there are times when we must compromise for the sake of space--and modern times have produced some very satisfactory results on that front, these Klipsch being a strong example. After about 100 hours of breaking in, they sound very clear and full, again, "satisfying" rather than "accurate" would be the best one-word descriptor. Also, and to be honest, you don't need a sub with these. They generate perfectly adequate bass on their own, if music reproduction is the goal, in a small or medium sized space. If they're incorporated into a surround system, which I also own, we'd obviously add a sub in order to capture the magic of the entire planet falling apart at the end of time, right? At the current Crutchfield price you sincerely can't go wrong here. I and especially my less tech-minded friends have found their support invaluable.

Pros: Deep bass, nice presence, strong performer for music.

Cons: Is perhaps a bit too sensitive to position, but then hard to complain because it has no rear porting, which really does create constraints.

I recently bought these speakers to add to a 50 watt system that had bose 301 speakers. I knew before they arrived that the klipsch speakers would be louder and that was my intention. But I was a little surprised that they were a lot better overall than the Bose. It has turned out that the Klipsch has become the main speaker for the system and the Bose are used only on occasion.

Pros: clear clean sound

Cons: none

Pros: crisp clear sound in all ranges...lows are very good for it size that will fill a room 20x30 easily...very impressed...

Awesome Sound

Anonymous from Charlotte, NC on 3/20/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Purchased these along with the Klipsch RC-500 BK Center channel speaker and the Klipsch RS-400 BK Surround speakers. I also have an older KSW-12 sub. I temporarily disconnected a Mirage NanoSat system I currently have and connected these speakers. All were driven by a Yamaha RX-V673 receiver. The sound clarity and imaging was amazing. The RB-600's easily handled the power and provided a great low/midbass punch. Although I did not see any "huge" differences in the specs of these vs. the RB-61ii there was a big price difference. I am very happy with the purchase and believe it would be hard to find another setup that sounds this good at this price.

Pros: Clarity and imaging at any volume. Great price

Very nice sound for a bookshelf speaker. Great value for the money. I am very pleased with the improvement in sound over my older speakers. I bought them as an open box sale and couldn't be happier. The speakers were at my door within 2 days of my order.

Pros: Great Price and even better sound.

RB 600--excellent bookshelf speaker

gginnc from Shelby, NC on 3/7/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This pair of RB 600 speakers was purchased to replace my Klipsch B3 speakers. While both speakers have a 6 1/5 " woofer, the RB 600 clearly has more base(impact) in the midrange. And although both have horn tweeters there is an obvious difference if favor of the RB 600. I am using a Yamaha subwoofer so there is no lack of low base--not normally a strong point of bookshelf speakers. Overall, the RB 600's are very clear and this translates into better voice reproduction when watching TV. Part of this may be due to the front base ports rather the back porting of the B3--can't say. Highly recommend these speakers.

Pros: Bi-Amping great sound very efficient

Cons: none

Great mid and upper but....

T. Hill from Midland, TX on 1/24/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These speakers are in a smaller living area (15x20). I was hoping for enough bass to forego the subwoofer. Although the speakers sound great, the lower end is not strong enough. I know these are recommended with a sub, so I was not surprised. Therefore my 5 star rating. Sub is on order. I am a Klipsch fan. My outdoor speakers (AW-525) sound phenomenal.

Just WOW!

Eddy A. from Tomball, Tx on 1/23/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I hooked up these speaks to my new TEAC AG-H380 and whammmmo! I was completely stunned by the fidelity and clarity. Truly these are fantastic speakers... well beyond anything I have ever owned. The clean sound of highs mixed with the tight booms of the lows are just really overwhelming. I just sat there in my living room and soaked it up... playing my favorite songs... ranging from classical to rock to hip-hop... the whole gambit. My wife had to come in and ask me if I was going to just listen to music all day... heh. Even she had to admit they were fantastic sounding speakers. I highly recommend them.

Pros: Clarity of highs, tight bass... can handle turning up the volume with no issues...

Cons: None

Excellent Speakers !!!

Mario from Manati, Puerto Rico on 1/18/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I,m tried many speakers for about 25 years, lover of Bose sound, until I discovered that Bose lacks of bass and high end sound, I decided to test Klipsch Reference with this RB-600, the music heard thru this speakers, sounds crispy and very clear with a good bass response. The hd movies sound with excellent realism, creating an expectacular Home theater image. I'm really recommend this series with the RC 500 and the RS 400 for surround. this is a complete Special Edition Speakers from Klipsch.

Pros: Strong, natural and powerful sound, Excellent 5 years Waranty

Cons: No found issues !!!!

Two-Way Speaker Design: The Klipsch RB-600 bookshelf loudspeaker employs a two-way speaker design with a 1" titanium-diaphragm compression driver inside a square Tractrix Horn and a 6.5" Cerametallic woofer with rubber surround.

  • Tractrix Horn Tweeter: The Klipsch RB-600 features a 1" titanium-diaphragm compression driver inside a square Tractrix Horn for smoother high-end response with greater extension, enhanced imaging and more powerful dynamics. The Tractrix Horn delivers a 90° wide by 60° high dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage.
  • Cerametallic Woofer: The 6.5" woofer of the RB-600 bookshelf loudspeaker features Klipsch's distinctive, copper-colored Cerametallic material. Made with an anodized aluminum, this cone is strong and dent resistant. The anodizing process converts its inner and outer surfaces to ceramic. The outcome is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics that will not flex or resonate at frequencies within the woofer's operating range The 6.5" woofer also employ a rubber surround for added durability.

Klipsch Horn Technology: Klipsch employs Horn Technology to deliver these four principles of great sound.

  • High Efficiency: Klipsch speaker employs horn technology because the horn shape is perfect for accurate and dynamic sound transmission. Greater efficiency means lower distortion, which means maximum realism.
  • Dynamic Range: Klipsch horn technology reproduces the softest sounds with remarkable clarity and detail and the loudest sounds with no harshness or distortion.
  • Controlled Directivity: Unique Klipsch horn technology means speakers that more accurately direct sound and offer a more lifelike soundstage.
  • Flat Frequency Response: Klipsch horn technology delivers exactly the sound the artist intended, with no unnatural highs, mids, or lows.

Bass Reflex Enclosure: The 6.5" Cerametallic cone woofer and 1" titanium diaphragm compression driver are mounted in a Bass reflex enclosure which features a front-firing port. The bass reflex enclosure features a MDF cabinet finished with a black wood-grain vinyl. The enclosure uses a low-diffraction sculpted cast aluminum front baffle to improve sound dispersion and features improved internal bracing to prevent unwanted resonance.

Magnetic Grille: The bookshelf loudspeaker features a removable magnetic grille which easily snaps into place over its cast-aluminum front baffle. The speaker can be used with or without its grille in place.

Dual Binding Posts: Each speaker has two sets of binding posts connected by jumpers. Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire.

Rubber Feet: Each bookshelf speaker comes supplied with eight self-adhesive rubber feet (4 for each speaker) so you can sit the speakers on a stand or shelf securely. The rubber feet add approximately 0.3125" to the height of each speaker.

Placement: These bookshelf loudspeakers are designed to perform well in a wide variety of locations but you will get the most out of the speakers by following these simple guidelines.

  • Place the front left and right speakers on shelves or stands with their tweeters at approximately ear height for a seated listener. When used surround sound speakers, they normally perform best when placed slightly higher than ear level.
  • The bookshelf loudspeakers should be equal distance from the floor and the wall behind them. It can also helps to have the left and right speakers at different distances from their nearest side walls. This sort of staggering helps smooth the bass range.

The two lines of speakers are very similar. There is a bit of a difference in the tweeters, which causes them to sound slightly different. Both are great choices. [ Jeff  Dec 16, 2013 ]  Staff
