Looking for speakers that will take your movies and music to the next level? The Klipsch® RF-82 II offers up sparkling highs, rich, dynamic mids, and full-bodied bass for larger home entertainment spaces. Building on Klipsch's previous Reference speaker line, the Series II models have updated drivers and a new crossover system for even more spacious sound. Grab a pair of these well-made towers for your main left and right home theater speakers, or use them on their own for a rockin' stereo music setup.
All Reference Series II speakers feature a redesigned version of Klipsch's famous horn-loaded tweeter. Because high-frequency sounds are more directional than bass frequencies, it's especially important to target them right toward your ears. Klipsch places their titanium tweeter inside a flared opening, known as a "horn," which disperses the highs evenly across your listening area in a 90°-wide, 60°-high pattern. With their Series II speakers, Klipsch has redesigned the shape and slope of their famous horn enclosure, so your movie soundtracks and music will sound more "open," with improved dynamics and efficiency. All in all, you can count on powerful, "front row" sound that's crystal-clear at all volume levels.
The RF-82 II uses newly machined, light-yet-rigid Cerametallic woofers with a folded edge to produce smoother mids and tighter bass. The specially treated aluminum in the cones helps to dampen unwanted vibrations and reduce distortion, while integrated dustcaps add stability. The RF-82 II also has dual five-way binding posts, giving you the option to bi-amp or bi-wire this speaker for even better performance. And the rigid, braced cabinet comes in a handsome woodgrain vinyl finish.

Average Customer Review(s):
These speakers sound awesome. I am not an audiophile but I do know good quality when I see it. I have owned other brands in the past but this was a great deal on a speaker that had high reviews and it's understandable after having hooked them up. I am not one to just jump in and buy something without having tried it out, but I took a chance on these. I listened to other comparable Klipsch speakers in a store and was very impressed. Well my (these) speakers are a notch above that and I am extremely pleased. I will be getting a sub and surround speakers next for my theater room. Already have the receiver which is also top notch. This was such a good piece of the entire system...I can't imagine having purchased any other speakers besides these now.
Pros: Sound Value
As an experienced audiophile, I am truly pleased. ??
great sounding speakers love them and they look great to
Pros: sound looks and price
Stunning clarity. Deep bass. Crank up the volume without any distortion. Music is crystal clear even if you're in the other end of the house. Also purchased Yamaha RN602 receiver -connected to my iPad via USB. Thanks Crutchfield for recommendation and fast free delivery. Received speakers in 3 business days across the country in CA.
Pros: Excellent performance
Great sounding tower speaker especially for music. Easy to hook up. Only draw back is the size. Very large towers in comparison to other brands
Pros: Crisp clean sound
Cons: Very large tower in comparison to other brands
I just hooked them up. They heavy to move around. I am playing Sgt. Peppers by MFSL. Even though it's made from the master tapes, this LP has never sounded better. Thanks Crutchfield.
Pros: All good
Very happy with these speakers. Used them to replace a pair of bookshelf speakers and have them powered by a Marantz amplifier. Crystal clear and rich sound via the Source Direct setting. I would recommend them.
I was looking for a stand alone stereo system to listen to vinyl. These speakers sound great, but they don't have the warmth I remember from the old speakers from the 70's and 80's. Do spend some time playing around with the placement and angle of the speakers as it makes a huge difference in the sound.
Pros: Great deal due to sale price Good sound
Cons: Sound lacks warmth
I have excellent hearing and this speaker meets my needs. Was worried if 8" would be too big but now I have no complaints. Great quality speaker. Clear sound and depth. Worth the money.
These speakers for the discounted price are an amazing deal for home theator there great powering them with an adcom 5400 amp and they get loud but still sound great at low volume only small grip would be when listing to,country music the male vocals sound a little thin over all still good speakers
These are a great set of speakers. For the money, they are hard to top. They are bright, lively, and full of punch.
Pros: Great sound
Cons: Large and tall
You cannot go wrong if you choose these speakers. They are truly clear and high definition. I can hear new things in songs I have listened to for years. I have played SACD, CD and DVD audio. They all sound incredibly great and just like CD. Even my mp3 files sound phenomenal. I have tried them on a couple of receivers to hear the difference. I currently have a vintage ( 1989 ) receiver with a HH Scott 10 band EQ as well as several CD players and a Technics 1200 turntable. If you have very clean records, they will sound beautiful. If your records are dirty, they will make you not like your speakers. That is why I prefer digital, but I do have records because some albums are no longer in print or in CD form. These speakers literally play everything that the signal gives them. So distortion becomes more enhanced. The same goes for a very clean CD, it will sound so sweet because it is the cleanest sound. With the right setup, these speakers will be the best audio investment for anyone. I went with Crutchfield because I trust them to deliver what they sell and with top notch service.
Pros: Clean sound, very efficient, loud, powerful, beautiful veneer, goes well with EQ, I can hear everything. This is what a real great speaker sounds like. The best part of these, the price and quality in one speaker.
Cons: I would have liked to choose a different veneer.
Excellent speakers, although they are very large. Great overall sound and clarity. I did a lot of research and narrowed my picks to the RF-82 II and the B&W 685 + Sub. The RF-82 II's won out as I can enjoy these (with really nice tight bass) until I get a sub for the surround sound experience with movies. I'm using these as fronts in a 5.0 (soon to be 5.1) setup and also purchased the Klipsch RC-62 II as the center in my setup. They pair well, excellent quality and appearance. Crutchfield service was wonderful, shipping was fast even with freight delivery for the RF-82 II pair.
Pros: Quality, sound and price
I've never heard anything like this. Listening to my favorite music for the first time, with stunning clarity. I am thrilled. Perfection.
Pros: Best sound I've ever heard
Cons: Make sure they fit. If they don't, make room.
Amazing clarity and punch! You simply cannot go wrong with these speakers at this price. I have them paired with a vintage Pioneer SX 1250, newly restored, and could not be more happy. I was considering going the vintage speaker rout but decided to take a chance on the Klipsch instead. Glad I did! These are large speakers and need some room to breathe. They will fill your room with detailed sound at every volume level. The five stars speaks volumes for not only the Klipsch RF-82 II's but also the Crutchfield service.
these are the best sounding speakers that I have ever heard
Pros: awesome sound all the way thru. and I am picky when it comes to stereo equipment
These speakers are awesome! We listen to classical music: LP's, CD's and FM radio on the Klipsch RF-82 ll s. When they arrived, I thought, oh no, they are too big. The box was big but the speakers are narrow and fairly deep. The sounds produced from some of our old vinyl records are amazing. The bass is terrific especially with organ. Listening is like being at a concert because the individual sounds from different instruments is distinctive. We couldn't be more happy and will enjoy these forever. If you are wondering if you should buy these, go ahead and do it. You won't be disappointed.
Pros: Good price, great sound.
Sounds great. Sweep test results taken in my living room which match 3rd party testing. Perform as expected.
Pros: 19Hz - 20KHz sweep Test results as expected.
Cons: Great speaker for the price. Buy them before they are discontinued!
I love them so far, in fact I may get another set of them
Pleasantly surprised how good these speakers sound. By far the best pair I've had. The bass is strong clean and solid. The clarity of the mids and highs are outstanding. I have them connected to a Yamaha receiver at 75% volume they seem very strong. Absolutely love these speakers
Excellent surround speakers, with a Dolby atmos 7.1.4 system. Good value compared to the klipsch RP280.
Pros: Good price. Excellent sound, highly efficient.
Cons: Not available in walnut veneer.
Great speakers. I have them to fill in the sound in a large(ish) room....awesome sound and good bass.
Excellent sound quality, great value.Suprised by bottom end response !!
Pros: Overall well balanced soundfield !!
Cons: Makes you want two more !
Totally in awe of these speakers! These far surpass my fifteen year old speakers, and they are very good. For a first listening, I put on the 1812 Overture, Bolero and In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. I think I had my mouth was open the whole time. I also turned off my sub-woofer and was very pleased with the overall base response of these speakers. I ordered them on a Monday and received them here in Oklahoma on Wednesday. Outstanding service from Crutchfield as always. Thank you.
Awesome speakers! Customer service phenomal. I live in Alaska and it is so hard to get items shipped up here. Not only did Crutchfield ship but it was free shipping.
I purchased these speakers for their efficiency in turning 1 Watt into 98 decibels of sound, the incredibly accurate sound, and the beautiful cabinets. I was not disappointed. My 25 Watt per channel tube amplifier totally rocks the entire house. I hear things in some of my music that I never heard before. In a classical trumpet concerto, I can listen to the sound of the trumpet player taking a breath before playing. I am euphoric with the quality for the cost. I bought them on sale and received free shipping. Crutchfield Rocks.
Pros: Efficient Sound Quality
Cons: Not really a con, but it takes two people to carry each box into the house.
This review is coming from a guy who loves good sound...I got these at the sale price expecting "decent" sound. I had never heard the RF 82 II. I biamped them to my Denon AVR 1910 (90 watts per channel). Currently these towers and a Polk Audio TSX 250C center speaker are all that I have running....I turned on my receiver and set everything back to basically factory settings. I found some 24 bit audiophile music on YouTube and pressed play. I must say if I could of had a picture of my face when the sound began to play it would probably look like I had seen some kind of paranormal being or something. These speakers are the best sounding speakers I have personally ever heard. They are incredible! At this price point, I don't think there's any way that you could find a better speaker. They are nothing short of phenomenal. If you are thinking about buying them, just do it...they won't be available forever, especially at this price. Klipsch has officially earned a fan. And, as always, Crutchfield delivers awesome service and delivery!
Pros: Amazing clarity. Good bass response. They are gorgeous. They are heavy and built very well. I have a pair.
Cons: This section is N/A.
I bought a pair of these awhile back and I just don't care for the sound. Maybe its my amp(onkyo) but it just doesn't sound right with them. They are just to bright. I paid much more for them also so you guys who bought got a deal money wise. I regret buying them.
Cons: to many to list
love these wish i had 2 more
I have Love Klipsch speakers for years and when I seen the new or sale price on the RF82ii I just knew it was time to order me a set. I'm so happy I did the performance of the speakers at this Price range is nothing short of incredible.
Pros: The RF82II represents the perfect balance in highs, mid range and lows. Budget friendly and great looking.
Cons: There are none
I Love Klipsch If you want great clear sound at any level you want Klipsch. If the sound is in he music or movie you will hear it and hear it very clear. You want to play at very low level it clear and you hear everything or you can shake your house and the one next door and it's still CLEAR as a bell. You want the best you want Klipsch. I have two RF-82 II and two RF-62 II too much but I LOVE them!!! Great service from Crutchfield thank you Brit, for your help.
Pros: Great clear sound at any level. VERY CLEAR
Cons: They are BIG real big, but great for Large Rooms
Had for about a week and am enjoying 100%. All different styles of music ( i.e. , jazz, classical,Rock and Roll, Blues, or Blugrass. On radio or Tv also. All Great!
The RF82II represents the perfect balance in highs, mid range and lows. With only a modest amount of power these ambassadors of sound perform flawlessly. I tested these with a lower power Marantz with 85 watts RMS and was shocked at their efficiency. Then again with a 200 watt class A optical amp and was floored once again. There is nothing more to get out of a speaker unless you are willing to spend nearly triple the modest price these remarkable towers cost. Klipsch has done it once again. These speakers are truly peerless both in performance and price. A rare duality.
Pros: Sound at any listening level. Smooth bass, incredible highs and the midrange where most voice occurs in movies is ideal as well. The appearance is very sharp and if you leave off the front grill, assuming you don't have midget speaker bangers running around, gives an extremely impressive look. Hard to miss these in any setting.
Cons: ? seriously? There are none. Unless you were looking for a budget breaker, these speakers are well worth the price and do not fail to excel in any reasonable comparison.
Best speakers I ever had
Pros: Supreme quality.Great sound.
Like most everyone else says - fantastic, gorgeous sound. Paired with Peachtree 220SE and a NAD356DAC. Their handling of a digital output from the 220 is just incredible. The only negative is that these are not laid back speakers, no way, even when run by the 220 and NAD. I think it's not quite fair to compare to similar Polks. I also have Polks. They tend to have a more laid back aura to them when compared to the Klipsch. They both provide great detail, soundstage, and musical. Still, these Klipsch are special.
Ordered these after demoing the RF-62. In short these speakers are amazing. I've owned Polk RTI-8's before these and these speakers are the easiest to drive due to their high sensitivity level. Pretty much any AVR will power these monster speakers unlike the Polks which were a nightmare trying to power. The sound quality is bright but not fatiguing like some reviews mentioning. When coupled with the SVS SB200 subwoofer the horns come alive. It's like a match made in heaven. If you like a large, easily driven, iron sound these are for you. In comparison the Rf-62's got the job done but as we all know "Bigger is Better" in this hobby lol.
Pros: Great sound Priced right Bright, like I like my speakers Blends in nicely with a good subwoofer...Notice I said good subwoofer something along the lines of HSU, Outlaw or SVS. Decent midrange.
Cons: The veneer finish, but to develop which sounds as good as these some corners are expected to be cut.
I am quite pleased with the depth and performance of the speakers. I went through a sizable number of speakers before accepting a pair that meets my high standards of audiophile quality.
Pros: Quality, performance, frequency response, richness or depth of sound, room filling but not booming....very nice.
I have had cerwin vega speakers and they were three times bigger than these speakers and I am very surprised with these and are better.
Pros: better speakers than my orginal.
Cons: the best I have ever had.
I blew out my Tannoy Mercury M2 speakers and I got these to stand in while I researched where to order replacement woofers for them. I chose the 8 inch models and an very happy I did. I get great base from them and horn configuration works well with the tweeters from my second pair.
Pros: good sound.
Cons: I didn't like the outside finish. next time I would get the black ones not the cherry. speakers were larger than I expected.
These Klipsch Reference RF-82 ll speakers are awesome. Distortion-free. Sound clarity is superb. You cannot go wrong. I will recommend this product any time.
Pros: Set up is easy. Cherry-finish is appealing. Sound quality and clarity is awesome. I enjoy every bit of sound produced. Cherry-finished is appealing.
Cons: Little heavy but it's ok. Small handle on the side will be great.. Well built.
Nicest entertainment speakers I have ever owned. I use them in a project recording studio to check mixes as well as for enjoyment listening. Actual mixing is done via focal headphones and near field monitors. They may be a tad bright and possibly lack some mid detail as others have mentioned. To my hearing, which is not perfect, they are very accurate and full. I am simply thrilled to have them. They are very efficient. Even driven with 25 watts RMS they produce an impressive volume in just over a 200 sq ft room. Bass response exceeds what is printed to commercial media in most cases. Very tight fast response throughout.
Pros: Excellent image. Great frequency response. Tight. Amazing efficiency.
Cons: Overkill for some commercially produced material. Many "sins" per loudness wars, bass wars, etc. shine through. Poorly produced material sounds poorly produced. It's a bit of a challenge to find material that can take full advantage of these speakers.
Nice speakers, took a bit to retune my receiver for them but they sure are nice now.
Pros: Bi-amp quality speakers
Cons: Not small
Great sounding, great quality and great price!
Pros: Excellent sound, excellent quality, excellent price. Crutchfield delivery also was quick and superb.
I realize that rating speakers is based on each ones personal preference so keeping that in mind let me say these speakers click every box on my speaker checklist. They are well constructed, sure I wish the finish was wood instead of veneer vinyl but they look very nice, they are heavy and are very large. I use mine for my surround sound and all TV watching and I believe they are excellent. But in my opinion that is not where they really shine, they really stand out while playing music, the highs, midrange and bass to me are top shelf, but myself personally the are absolutely amazing when playing vinyl. Over the past 40 years I have listened to Dark Side of the Moon too many times to count. An hour ago I listened to a brand new 40th anniversary copy of Dark Side of the Moon on 180 gram virgin vinyl and to me it was simply amazing, heard things I never heard before, sure it takes more than just great speakers for great sound but for me these speakers deliver. I just can't imagine anyone not being completely satisfied. I now notice a difference in the sound after about 50 hours of playtime. These speakers have completely exceeded all my expectations as has Crutchfield, oh did I mention great price. If there was a ten star button I would have chosen it.
Pros: Exceeds all my expectations.
It is indeed a great pleasure and honor to owned this pair of sspeakers RF 82 series ll it sound great the best speaker available in the market it blends well to my onkyo receiver tx nr 737 a very good product . Sound quality will speak for itself excellent. Highly recommend . Thank you Crutchfield for making this excellent product affordable to everyone is
Pros: Produce highly quality sound Music amazing,
Awesome speakers! The workhorses of my 3.1 system powered by a demon AVR. So nice at such a great price I wish I had room for another pair! No real reason though as these will fill my entire house with clear sound and make your ears hurt if you really crank it!
First things first, these are BIG. I am using them in a small apartment without difficulty. The reason I'm reviewing these speakers ( I almost never leave reviews) are to counter the negative critiques I've read about these speakers regarding lack of mid-range clarity. If you have a good amp, you'll be fine. I am using these as my only speakers in a music-centric, yet film buff worthy movie, 2.0 set-up and can attest that I am very happy across the board. I am running these with a high-end, 2.0 amp however. I tried them temporarily through a budget A/V receiver and did notice the bass more and some slight vocal-range overpowering on the bass' part but hey - shouldn't we spend more than $150 on the very center of a sound system??? My 2¢. IMO, a quality buy that covers my primary audio, slight-second secondary movie watching, needs spectacularly at this price range. I'd have to spend twice as much to notice an improvement.
Pros: High quality/well built Awesome 2.0 sound
Cons: Big and heavy. Pros >>> Cons
Great Speakers. Fast service and delivery. Very pleased with the sound and quality.
Pros: "Lifelike" sounds on movies.
I stepped up to these bad boys from a pair of Polk Monitor 60s and the difference is huge. I have had them for 2 weeks and have played maybe 10 hours on them so i cant wait for them to be fully broken in. They are loud and don't distort when you crank up the volume. I have gotten them down to the 0db mark on my Denon 3312 CI , which goes up to +18db , at the 0 marker the music i was listening was so clear and loud. I am definitely happy with my purchase and know these will last a long time.
Pros: Loud, workmanship, quality, build
Cons: none yet
I was using 15 yr old JBLs that were great speakers. My brother bought a new car with a REALLY high end sound system. It sounded so good I thought I would try new speakers for my home theater. With the 60 day return option what did I have to lose? Well the Klipsch speakers aren't going back. My JBLs sounded good, but I didn't know what I was missing. I like the Klipsch speakers so much that I just ordered a Klipsch center speaker.
Pros: Sound quality is excellent, they look good.
Cons: Difficult to attach the 2 rear feet. Screws too big or pre-drilled holes too small. One pre-drilled hole a bit side-ways. Couldn't get screws completely screwed in so using as it.
I bought these speakers without testing them in a store. Based on reviews found online & Crutchfield's return policy, I was confident about my purchase. I have only watched a few movies with these speakers, and so far, they are amazing. The detail in the sound is very good and sharp (not muddled).
After months of research and several helpful on line chats with Crutchfield support, I chose the RF 82's to pair up with my Sony DN-1050 receiver. I'm very pleased. Powerful, clean, full sound. These are "big boy" speakers and are handling 160w with ease.
Pros: Big sound. Clean. Full. Very nice looking.
Price for Price, the best speakers out there
Amazing speakers. Bought a pair of these as an upgrade from my HTIB onkyo set i had. I just have a 2.1 system now but thats enough to blow my mind away. I also bought the outlet version of the speakers. As far as i know these looked like they were never even setup by anyone. Thats the best bang for my buck. Overall , if you can handle the sound produced by klipsch speakers these are some of the best ones you can get without breaking the bank.
I purchased these RF-82 II to replace my Klipsch KG-4 speakers, I wasn't expecting a big improvement over the kg-4's. But WOW what an extreme difference it made. I can hear many more sound effects in all of the movies I watch. The overall sound is much cleaner and crisper than the kg-4's. There is nothing wrong with my kg4 and I still use them everyday. But these RF-82's are amazing in what is reproduced compared to the kg-4's. Very happy with my purchase and would highly recommend to others.
Pros: crisp, clean and clear sound
Cons: not the RF-7's , lol
Having had super speaker enclosures from the good old days, I was skeptical about getting new ones as I was used to having 12 to 15 inch woofers, etc. and wanted to get the good full bass sound, but the 82's came across quite good and produce a very good overall sound, but do find I need to crank up the volume to get what I like. No problem in souping up the sound as there is no distortion and at larger columns, they ( 2 together) produce a good clean sound.
Pros: all good
Cons: nothing bad
These are the best speakers I have ever bought just replaced my complete Bose home theater system to all klipsch speakers of still using the same Yamaha surround amp sound a lot better
Pros: Great speakers and look good with and without covers on
I compared these side-by-side with the RF-62 II in a local HiFi store and the RF-82 has a much fuller sound. The extra bass really does make a difference. Love the clarity.
Pros: Deep, full sound. Multiple connection options (bare wire, banana plugs, spades). Attractive finish.
Cons: Heavy, requires freight shipping and big trucks can't get to my house because of a dead end and no way to turn around. Had to meet the tractor trailer at a nearby grocery store.
Great sounding speaker for the price. if you love loud rock and roll music, this is your speaker. its size alone tells you something big is gonna happen. excellent base, very hi treble, perhaps a bit too high, and hi impedance makes this speaker crank with a low wattage amp.
Pros: Price, massive size if like big, excellent bass
Cons: Horns/treble sound a bit high at times
Running denon flagship 4520ci. 150 watts channel 9.2.. 2 reference 15" subs. 2 rf 82 s front. 2rb61s front height. Center rc62. 2rs52s surround. 2 rs62s surround back. Unbelievable volume and sound quality! ! Wanted this since teen years. Once you get receiver tuned to your preference unbeatable in my opinion! Run bluray only. Haven't tried other hi-tech settings on receiver cuz I'm old school. Amazing! Will only by klipsch! Much of the speakers were from Crutchfield at great prices! Crutchfield is awesome. Customer service is great and received speakers in timely fashion. Awesome!
Pros: Great concert sound whether watching a movie or cranking out the music!
Cons: A few dollars invested but worth it.
Awesome look, Awesome sound, and for a great price. Thanks Crutch!!!
Pros: What's not to like
Super detail and good spactial quality. Open but tight bass. Some have indicated that the horn can be highs too bright, I don't find that to be the case. After a month of listening, I bought a second pair. Good for classic, rock, jazz and home theater. Nice value.
Pros: The 8" woofers are large enough for good bass, but still tight. The horn is not too bright for me. Good open sound and good looks as well. Great floorstanding speakers. Good value.
Cons: Vinyl surface covering, but still attractive and it keeps the price down.
Great bang for the buck. With the sale price of $400 off for the pair, I decided to take the plunge, and it was well worth it. Very good musical presence and great bass!
Pros: Two 8" woofers per speaker enclosure gives a solid bass structure.
Cons: Screw for stand(s) should all have metal inserts. Only one hole had the metal insert.
Very open sounding speakers. Tight bass and highs are very extended with the horns. Sounds are very detailed and have a up front soundstage. These are very efficient speakers. Will rock my 20 x 20 listening room. I drive them with an Adcom 100 watt per channel power amp which will deliver all the volume a person would ever need . All in all, great speakers especially for the price
Pros: Great sound. Great price & quality !
Cons: Highs are a little bright with the horns. It took a bit to get used to, but after a month or so of breaking them in & listening to them , I am quite happy. I just have to turn the treble control down on some music , but that's no big deal .
Was wanting to step up my sound from a pair of B&W 685's (great bookshelf speakers, but without the bass response I was looking for) What a win using the RF82's. Love them...
Pros: Quality sound at a good price.
I'm far from an audiophile but was looking to upgrade from my 20 year old Nuance speakers with the Klipsch Reference RF-82 II and these sure have fit the bill. Powering these with a 20 year old Onkyo 75 watts per channel receiver and it's driving them with no problem. Have only had these. for a little over a week so their not really broken in yet but man are they impressive already. They are big, but I like that!
Pros: Great sounding speakers, you won't regret
Crisp clean sound! They replaced my B & O's. Brings out recorded sound that I didn't even know was there. Good, but not great bass response, for my taste.Well worth the investment.
Pros: Visually appealing, crisp strong response.
Cons: Heavy. I am using a small subwoofer to warm up the bottom end.
Great speakers for the price. I'm using denon avrx2000 to push these speakers and they sound great
Engineers like myself can be skeptical. Apparently, Klipsch was founded by a skeptical engineer because these are everything I imagined and more. "Why didn't I buy these sooner?" They're that good. I also have RB-61 bookshelfers, and the tangible difference is in bass response. These RF82II towers reach just a tad lower in frequency. String instruments are a hair deeper. The room feels just a bit bigger. That said, I'm using this as a quadraphonic setup, and I'll probably get dedicated surround speakers and use the RB's as mains in another room, as they're really too good to stay on the sidelines. If you mostly stand up and jam, consider the taller RF7's. If you're on a budget, put RB61's on stands. If you watch movies, these horns are just a tad above ear level, which delivers a room filling sound. I've played everything though these RF's to get them broken in. Dubstep from the 2008 era, Video games, Classical FLAC files, Jazz, and of course, my vinyl collection. I hear things I hadn't heard before. All in all, these RF 82 II's are the best speakers I've ever had. If you don't have the room, but you still want them, Make room, get a smaller TV, ditch the girlfriend, sell the motorcycle, whatever. Scratch your audio itch.
Pros: Level frequency response, deep bass, crisp highs, affordable, rigid, good looking copper woofers,
Cons: Room. These are about 16" deep, so if you don't have much room... uh.. make room.
excellent speakers could not be happier great midrange and tight bass great imaging no fatiguing at continuous loud volumes very clean I'm still amazed how clean these speakers sound very happy I purchased the RF-8211 thank you so much crutchfield!!!
Pros: every thing is perfect
good value for the money
Pros: sound good
Cons: not to be considered a complaint, but unless you have these fairly close together, you will want a center channel. They are somewhat directional.
I'm not an audiophile, but I know what I like and I also appreciate a good value. For the money, these speakers are really special. When I listen to these speakers at a good volume, it's like I'm wearing the lightest pair of headphones ever made. These speakers sound great when playing blues at low volume and they also sound great when cranking AC/DC. I read other reviews about "imaging" and I really didn't understand, now I do. Sometimes I swear it sounds like there more than just the two speakers.
Pros: Great sound through the entire range. Great value.
Cons: They are heavy, so keep the boxes for when you move.
i can't believe the volume that comes out of these rascals! i expected the quality to be great and it is,but i'm only pushing them with 80w from an nad amp with built in dac for internet music and stored files.1/8th volume is nice, half way up the house is rockin& just to test it at 100% it is like a concert in my living room that can be heard several blocks away, and still no noticeable distortion or reduction in quality.very impressed with this combo.thanks to the Crutchfield advisor that recommended it.thankyou, thankyou, thankyou!
Pros: highs mids lows all come out exceptionally with only 80w.just a great speaker.
I am an active amateur classical musician who listens to a wide variety of musics, but I test my speakers on classical and opera. I'm delighted with the sound of these. It took me a couple of steps to get here. I initially ordered a pair of the RF-52II's to replace my still excellent-sounding, 25-year-old KEF Q60s. The RF-52II is superb, except the bottom of the music just wasn't there. I sent them back and ordered the RF-82II model. (And Crutchfield was perfectly helpful with returns. Wonderful staff). With this model, the double basses and cellos that open Brahms German Requiem, the harps in the first bars of the Mahler 9th, or the lower range of the piano in chamber music sound rich and full. On the upper end of the audio spectrum, I like the sound of Klipsch's horn tweeters. I like the brightness, which brings out the details in the human voice and the orchestra. Jazz and rock sound terrific on these speakers, as well. FYI, I just don't do home theater, and I hate the artificially loud midrange bass of today's movie theaters, which gives me a headache. I run these speakers with modest equipment: a fifteen-year-old Technics SA-EX110 receiver and an equally aged Panasonic seven band equalizer. With the equalizer, I augment the 60 and 150 Hz somewhat.
Pros: Excellent sound across the audio spectrum. Very good, natural sound on the lower end of the audio spectrum for classical and opera.
Cons: These are large speakers, which isn't technically a "con", but get your tape measure out and make sure they fit your space.
I decided to upgrade my Polk RT800s to the Klipsch Reference II series. I tried the RF 62s and found them to be a much more efficient, and crisp sounding speaker than the much older Polk predecessors. However, I found them to be a bit lacking for a large room, so I gave the 82s a try. Wow, what a difference! The bass response is very dramatic between these speakers. They sound warmer to me, and the difference in bass output is phenomenal. You can feel it. If you are on the fence, spend the extra money and try the 82s. Finally, low volume sound is outstanding, and they are insanely loud when powered properly. These speakers really live up to the Klipsch motto. You can tick the neighbors off with ease.
Pros: Speaker efficiency, build quality.
Cons: Size and weight. They are huge, and heavy.
Probably the best pair of tower's I've ever heard. Probably the last pair of speakers I'll ever purchase for my stereo set up. The vinyl exterior is robust but doesn't resemble a good hardwood by much. They feel sturdy and showed up in great shape (though ups held them for a few days while in transit). They've been great for really hearing some of my record collection as I've never heard before.
Pros: Great sound fidelity. Good crossovers. Very good separation of mid and low frequency drivers. Wonderful response, even at very low volume.
Cons: Heavy (70 lbs.). Cabinet exterior is vinyl wood grain.
The RF 82 are very smooth. It covers the full range of sound. I have an RF 62 and an RF 52. The 82 is a great complement.
Pros: Smooth sound with great coverage of the audible range from lows to highs.
Cons: Not necessarily a negative, but it seems to require a bit more power than I expected.
I had a Jamo Classic 10 back in Europe. These Speakers are far ahead of them. All around excellent!
Pros: Very nice sounding if you like the horns. They are awesome. Decent Bass! Size of them are decent! Not to big or small. They make a statement with grills off!
Great sounding speakers. Perfect upgrade I was looking for.
Pros: Great sound. Great overall product!
I bought these as my front towers for a 7.2 system and they sound absolutely fantastic. They really bring the movie to life! Well worth the money, I'm a big Klipsch fan!
Pros: Great Sound Quality Construction Wonderful Aesthetics
Cons: A little pricey but worth every penny!
I would just like to know if there is a difference, and how big or small, between the kilpsch r28-f and the rf 82 II. the cabinet dimesnions and ports are different (one front on the former and two rear duals on the latter). the r28's are not as deep and a bit wider, and the weiht for mass appears about the same. i have heard both but without doing a side by side, i can't trust myself. anyone care to comment?
Happy with the purchase. Worth every penny.
Pros: Very clear sound. And the bass is nice and deep.
Cons: It might come in different color but I already got used to it. I took the front cover off and this golden speakers blend in in my room like it belong there ;o)
The best speakers i ever heard. these replaced a old pair of jbl arc1000 i loved those jbls until i got the klipsch wow what clarity at the high nd low end blew those jbls away i have new love now. i dont need a sub but may get one 4 movies i use a onkyo 110watt reciever to power them thanx crutchfield 4 first rate service
Pros: Sturdy construction looks awsome with grills of crystal clear sound
I grew up listening to Klipsch speakers like the Klipschorn and Heresy so I was familiar the Klipsch sound. I purchased the RF 82s as the front LR speakers in a Klipsch home theater setup. For those of you who are unfamiliar with the brand, Klipsch speakers are famous for their ability to achieve very high volume levels with relatively little amplification. That's extremely important if you're trying to achieve theater or concert like volume levels using most home theater receivers. In that regard, the RF 82s really deliver; they can reproduce movie soundtracks and music with a visceral slam that will get your attention. The speakers reproduce wide dynamic swings with ease - they can go from a whisper to a scream in a hurry so to speak. I've spent quite a bit of time listening to rock, jazz, and electronic tracks I'm familiar with and its interesting to hear how these speakers reproduce musical details. I think for this price range you could do a lot worse than the RF 82s and most people could live with them quite happily.
Pros: Can attain theater or concert like volume levels with relatively little amplification Bass reproduction can deliver a visceral slam - its a great rock speaker Dynamics reproduced very effectively
Cons: As noted by others they're large by modern standards; do check with your spouse
No need to talk about the speaker, they are the legend in sound, beautiful ,loud and clear, very good for all kind of music from easy listening to jazz, rock or soul you just have to get you one to experience it before you die.
Pros: The speakers look and sound wonderful, I give it five stars rating and the other five or ten stars go to Crutchfield service, order these speaker on Friday morning before noon and received on Monday(from VA to NC) very impressive service, after all these years, Bill Crutchfield, he knows how to run his business and only store still sending out colorful magazine to these days and i love it. Thanks Bill
Cons: 1st the speaker Not handle banana plugs 2nd this model no longer made in USA
After enjoying my acoustat X's for many years I was ready for a speaker change. I was very pleased with the Klipsch sound for years as well. So I purchased these RF-82s 2 months ago. Having changed from the electrostatic hybrid sound to the bass reflex sound needless to say I'm very pleased with the 82s. They are very up front and clear and use little power to drive them. Right now I'm using a Marantz M- CR-510 network receiver (50) watts. They are loud enough for me. I'd definitely recommend these speakers to anyone.
So first, these have great overall range. I have a 2.0 system with these, and you might not know I didn't have a sub while watching a movie. The highs are crisp, but you need to have a solid EQ at your disposal to avoid any harsh frequencies in the 800-2k Hz range (might just be my room and eq). Now, the two things to note. First, these are HUGE. If you have a set of large bookshelf speakers, add another to the back and double the height, and you MIGHT fill the volume of one of these. but this is not a con, just something to be aware of. Second, these speakers are extremely directive. That is, if you are not sitting in the direct line of these speakers you will notice a very heavy drop in the higher frequencies, namely frequencies that affect sibilance in speech. These are very impressive speakers, and if you catch it used or on a sale you can get a pair for less than $900. I would recommend these, but do note that if you have tile floors or cannot sit in line with the tweeters (large group showings), you may find the narrow horn beamwidth to be a problem.
Pros: Good value on sale. Great bass. Average receiver powers fine. Large.
Cons: Large. Narrow horn beamwidth. Can sometimes be bright if not EQ'd properly.
I have wanted to own a pair of Klipsch speakers for years, and finally had the opportunity to purchase them for my home . Truly amazing sound quality ! The 8 inch woofers produce deep, tight bass that doesn't require the addition of a subwoofer. Crystal clear mids and highs compliment the well rounded sound of these reference series speakers. Beautiful vinyl finish on the cabinets and attractive speaker covers add to the overall excellence of these speakers. Could not be more pleased . Thrilled to own these speakers.
Pros: Beautiful cabinets and perfect sound from an attractive, slim enclosure.
Cons: None noted.
I have been waiting a long time to upgrade my Klipsch Synergy's (circa early 2000's) to a set of Reference speakers...almost since the day I bought my Synergy's! Finally, I had some spare capital and my wife gave me the green light. In short I am very pleased with these speakers. They really add a new level of detail to our home theater experience...more detail, fills our large family room easily, and cherry finish is really sharp (far nicer in person to look at than the crumby picture online), The fact that I was able to actually stretch my dollars and get the RF 82 II RF 62 II (which my budget allowed for) made this buy even more sweet for me.
Pros: Excellent at filling a large family room with sound Absolutely crisp detail (what do you expect from a Klipsch horn?) The finish is really quite beautiful
Cons: Made in China...I'm a little disappointed here because my old Synergy floor standers were made in Hope, AK. If those could be made in the US certainly Klipsch could have made these there too?
If you want pristine highs without distortion and thumping bass, then these speakers are for you. Rock, country, pop, hip-hop, all sound great. Audio snobs might want to look elsewhere because these speakers were made to dance to and also kick back on. I play them low volume to casually listen, but, crank it up to really enjoy the sounds of my youth. Also, these speakers sound so good when playing movies, I can actually hear the dialogue. The center channel, RC-62 II, is also a must have for movies. I've auditioned many speakers and these sounded the best to me. Its really a personal choice. Don't let expensive prices and snob based reviews fool or sway you, trust your ears instead. Life is short, kick back and enjoy the sounds.
These are great speakers and should please any audiophile. The sound is bright , full, tremendous. The speakers do need to break in though as they really just seem to get smoother with time. I'm running a NAD C 275 BEE Amplifier , an Onkyo Preamp and an Onkyo C-7030 CD Player all hooked into a Monster Power protection system. All the power you will ever need. I recommend them highly.
I bought these speakers in an attempt to fill a large, open room with good stereo sound...and these absolutely delivered! I have always had some flavor of subwoofer/satellite packages and they simply cannot deliver good 2.1 sound. I am powering these with a modest 75W Denon receiver without any problems at all. When in full 5.1 mode for movies these speakers perform extremely well. Very crisp, detailed highs and the lows blend really well across the front 3.1 channels. Word of "caution", I ended up upgrading my subwoofer because of these speakers. You need a pretty competent sub to keep up with these things for movies and bass-heavy music. I have a 1000W peak 12" ported sub from a non-Crutchfield manufacturer and its doing the job well now. One other thing...these speakers look fantastic! I have never attached the grilles and I have no intention of changing that!
Pros: Room-filling sound Efficient Well-balanced sound Look great
Cons: I'd love to have real wood cabinets...but hey, at this price point, you would have to sacrifice something else to get real wood.
I listened to these speakers at a friend's house and I was amazed. Later that evening, he played "The Matrix" and wow! I post my Vienna Acoustic Mozart Grand and the Maestro on Craigslist the next day and got these speakers along with an RC -62II. Still got 600 bucks to spare from selling the VA speakers. I am enjoying these speakers more than my last VA's speakers. Not saying these speakers are better, but my ears like them better.
Pros: Clear, loud, looks good and good price.
Excellent speakers. The sound is very clean. I am hearing things that I never heard before in my music with my old Bose speakers,
In my hunt for mid-priced speakers I have tried Magnepan MMG's, Polk ATI-A7's, Def Tech, and some vintage Pioneers. These 82ii's have caused me to end my search. Brilliant highs, clean mids, and enough bass to not need a sub. I use them for stereo use only (so far) and it makes my high quality flac music come alive. I was playing them at a low volume and was pleased, but when I cranked them up just a little they produced a definite wow-factor! If I had to have one con, it would be that the Klipsch 82's are hard to move with the spikes on the bottom, but that's not THEIR fault. The MMG's didn't sound right to me, the Def Techs were nice but didn't have punch, and the Polks seemed like they had a thick comforter thrown over them. I am now a Klipsch Reference fan. Crutchfield got them to me faster than I thought and I am one happy camper. Will be ordering some RF-52ii's for rear surround when they go on sale.
Pros: Clean crisp and clear sounding highs, mids and lows. Nice and sensitive, really come alive as you turn up the volume even tho low levels sound nice too. Look cool.
Cons: Not really a con, but moving them when the spikes are on is a pain. LOL
In 1966, before joining the Navy, I purchased Wharfedale speakers. Splendid three way speakers. They had played a million Saturday night tunes. Or, close to it., or so it seems. Music is magic to me. It is life, and a thread to years gone past. But, it must sound correct. After being valiant performers in 48 years, my Wharfedales no longer sounded the same. I knew it was time. I had found the Crutchfield company years ago. I purchased a Klipsch sub from them, and when it needed a repair, they were right there. As advertised. I did not hesitate to return. Because I could not hear a speaker that I was interested in, I had to do my home work. And I did ! The winner ...the Klipsch Reference 82 ll. And, here is why. They were ordered, and shipped just as Crutchfield laid out. They are a bit big, and bit heavy. But beautiful. Mine are cherry. Stunning in my home, and the price was right. They were ' bright / tight ' sounding when first played. They did not sound good, at first. But, if you did your homework, you knew this might happen. In two hours of playing...the flowers opened ! The RF-82 ll's took hold of my living room. And, I let them perform. Such sounds, I had never experienced. Pure, true highs. Soft / powerful mids. The base only grew better, but when it topped out, I added that Klipsch sub.. I told you about. Bottom line...these Klipsch 82 ll speakers are magnificent / magic. Mine are used for music only. Good things come to those that wait. Enjoy.
We found that these speakers are very good to have in our theater system. We hooked up all of our new speakers and watched a movie. One of the Star Wars. The part when they announce THX! It put chills down our backs. I have been so happy sence we made this purchace. I have been looking at these speakers for quite some time now. And i could not be happyer. Thank you Crutchfield!
Pros: The pure sounds that come out from the smallest sounds to the loudest, could not be happier.
Cons: I just don't have enough time to listen to them.
I have a few other Klipsch products (a small 2.1 powered PC speaker system and some mid level earbuds) and am very impressed with both. I have had a Klipsch RW12D sub sitting for a year brand new in the box that I bought for a great price elsewhere and after reading about the RF82 II's I was ready. I checked reviews on alot of sites and that sealed the deal for me . I had no way of listening to these speakers before buying but went for it anyways. It didn't take long to figure out I had made the right choice. Paired with a Marantz SR6008 the RF 82 II's sound fantastic. The eq on the receiver is set at around 0 db across every band. I hear nuances in my music that I never heard before. I turned off the powered subwoofer so I could hear just the RF82II's and all I can say is if these are in your price range I highly suggest getting them. I found that a powered sub is not needed with these but If you are like me and prefer a bit more bass then you always have the option. From what I have read these sound even better after being broke in for a month or so. I can't imagine because I am already very pleased.
Pros: Superb sound quality, well made, wider back legs to prevent tipping
Cons: The cherry veneer are priced $100 less each when I highly doubt they cost any less to make.
Great product! They fill up my irregular shaped family room no matter where I am. And having a tower makes it possible to set them high enough to get over a sofa and a desk. I'm also impressed by the delivery service. They actually came day early.
Pros: Good sound though out their range. They're also kind of handsome..
Cons: They are very difficult to move, especially after I put the spikes on them. And the connections are a little awkward for my bigger than normal hands. (Now that I've got them placed and connected neither of these will be a problem any more, will they?)
Excellent room filling sound, even with a modest Denon AVR-E300 to power them. Paired with a RC-62 center speaker, I have fantastic sound with my movies. Great looking too. I initially bought the RF-52's but exchanged them for these 82's. Crutchfield made correcting my mistake in going too small very easy.
Pros: Big, clear sound. Great appearance.
Cons: Fairly large
I have been looking for some speakers for quite sometime and these fit the bill great""I haerd them before and that's why I bought them.Klipsch makes some of the best speakers on the market.
Pros: Efficient(doesn't take much to drive them, sound, price, quality
Cons: I wish it was real veneer on them instead of vinyl
Theses are the best speakers I've ever owned. The sound quality is outstanding and they are beautiful. Very clear and very loud with no distortion. I bought the entire surround system and I'm pushing them with the Onkyo 818 receiver. All I can say is wow! I've also paired these with two subs, the SW-450 and SW-112. Man my whole house is shaking!
Pros: Awesome sound and great bass.
Great speakers, good enough to fill with sound a big room 1500 sq.ft with open roof. The walls start to shake. Very warm, deep and dence sound!
Let me begin by giving Crutchfield an A + in customer service. Secondly I saved for months to purchase these speakers and convincing my wife's ears to death about how we "need these for our living". I originally purchased them from another online store who advised me that I would receive them in 4 business days. On the day of delivery not a single person there could inform why I did not receive my speakers or what the hold up was. After 3 weeks of going back and forth with their horrible customer service I came across Crutchfield and after reading literally every single review I made the decision to purchase even with my order with the other company under "shipping soon" status......right. Not only did I get my speakers on time Crutchfield confirmed my order with a phone call and even sent me a hand written thank you card from Artie. Clearly with this kind of customer service I Have taken my online purchases away from other stores and obtained a great first time experience with Cructhfield and will continue with them in the future. Btw after the speakers arrived and I took the covers off the speakers my wife was taking pictures and putting them Up on Facebook. I would definitely recommend Crutchfield to my friends and family.
Music has always been a very important part of my life, it moves me, it take me places, in inspires me, and these speakers makes all of those experiences richer and even more fulfilling. I am 51 years old so I have tried plenty of speaker over my life time and these are my favorite by far. I have listened to speaker sold at more that 4 times the cost of these and the Klipsch just out perform them. I love them and Crutchfield Rocks...
Pros: Unbelievable bass and beautiful highs
Crisp quality sound
Pros: Nice sound from 8" speakers. Solid construction with sturdy, thick metal feet with removable hefty spikes for carpeted floors. Magnetic latching speaker covers.
Cons: Tall and heavy but then again not really a con. Black or cherry finish only choices. I anticipate years of enjoyment from solid construction however the sharp edges and corners of the cabinet might wear sooner then a rounded off style.
After reading other reviews I expected these speakers to be "in your face" or "bright". Instead I'm pleased that I've found these to be extremely smooth and are capable of the deepest lows and delicate highs. For me a good test of speakers is how they handle the crossover point from one driver to the next. Phase integration and simple tone changes from one driver to another can trip up some otherwise great speakers. Female vocals tend to be a very telling test for this, and these Klipsch speakers do an admirable job in this range. I use these speakers for both HT and music, and am driving them with a Denon AVR-E300 receiver.
Everything I hoped for when I ordered them. Using them for mostly music 2 channel stereo and they are superb. Realistic sound and very efficient. Lots of bass. I have a subwoofer but could easily do without it. These are the loudest speakers I've ever owned.
Pros: Clear, accurate sound. Very loud when you crank up the volume. Good bass response.
Cons: Big and heavy.
INCREDIBLE !!!! I purchased a pair of RF82ll's from Crutchfield 3 months ago after doing much research. I've had JBL, BOSE, KENWOOD, and they all pale in comparison to Klipsch! These speakers will amaze you! Worth every dollar and then some! Crutchfield has the best deal going on the cherry finish .
Pros: Stunnging Bass and Highs !!
Cons: None at all.
Outstanding clarity and depth without a subwoofer. Not that difficult to move around. Experiment with your placement and you're bound to be happy.
These are the best sounding speakers I have ever heard.Love them.
Pros: The Bi-amping ability, they look great and sound great.
These speakers are the greatest floor standers that I have ever had the pleasure to own. I was a little hesitant at first based on the price but if I had to do it again I would for sure splurge and buy these wonderful speakers again. I am coming from Infinity Primus P362's as my mains and I can certainly tell you that these RF-82 II's are leaps and bounds better. Much better highs which are more crisp and clear and the low end is great as well. Bass response on these are very good and they produce a nice tight bass response. They can go pretty low but if you are a home movie buff or looking for more bang then a sub-woofer is for sure recommended but not needed. These as a stereo pair sound great. I am using a Pioneer Elite SC-37 receiver and these speakers can be pushed hard with no signs of distortion what so ever even at high volumes thanks to their very efficient design. Just finished rewatching Star Wars eps 3-6 and these speakers made the movie come alive like I never heard before. Stellar. One last note: these are not as directional as some reviewers have stated.
Pros: Provides an excellent front sound stage from crisp clean high's thanks to its horn loaded tweeter. Bass response is excellent provided you have the right amp/power going to these speakers. Ability to bi-amp these speakers is an excellent option to have.
Cons: Not really a con but at this price point I would like to have a real wood veneer...that being said the vinyl wood grain is very well done and does not look cheap and does in fact look like real wood. I went with the black ash. As others have noted on the 5-way binding posts, they feel a little cheap to me but get the job done. Would have preferred them to be metal instead of the plastic thumb screws. These are heavy speakers as others have noted and quite large as well so measure your room!
I have my RF-82ii's hooked up as stereo speakers as opposed to surround. I just love the BIG clear sound that they reproduce. I've owned alot of different speakers in my 50 years on the planet, and these are the best I've ever owned.
Pros: Nice, clear bass that fills the room, very clear mids and highs.
Cons: They're a bit on the large side, but I like that, so no real cons.
i replaced my 10 year old floor speakers connected with onkyo thx nr 818 receiver with klipsch RF82-II results are excellent these speakersare definitely worth the price.
Pros: excellent sound
Awesome speakers, completely challenge my long held beliefs concerning speakers, cannot believe that two eight inch speakers are capable of such clean and extended bass, the highs and midrange are equally impressive, the high efficiency is the icing on the cake.
Pros: Can't fault construction quality on any level, equal to high quality American made products.
Cons: Wish the finish were real wood but for the price it's to be expected.
Wow! I've had these speakers for a couple weeks now and continue to be impressed. It took a little time to re-adjust my Onkyo 809 the way I like music to sound and a little time for my ears to get used these speakers, but it was well worth it! I hear things in music now that I was missing before! I have purchased a whole reference series for my main listening area and man do they sound great together! These towers can handle power very well. I cannot get them to distort, no matter how loud I turn it up! I love my bass and for people who need to feel their music I suggest adding a sub to the mix, the speakers bass is good alone, but it will not "hit" you without a sub. For the money, these speakers are an exceptional value!! I would buy them again without hesitation!
Pros: Great clarity, excellent highs, awesome presense
Cons: a little light on the bass for anyone who needs to be "moved" - That's why we buy subs!
I have listened to several speakers better than the Klispsch RF 82. They were $6000.00 and higher. The Klipspsch are very directional, be aware of that. The overal performance is very good. I do not believe you can buy any speaker better in this price range. If you buy these you will NOT be disappointed. My statement: Klipsch delivers again! Do not hasitate...
Pros: Unbelivable for the price
I have always admired and wanted Klipsch speakers. In the early 1980's, I had a friend that owned a pair of Klipschorn's, and they sounded amazing. There are truly no words that can properly convey just how AWESOME these speakers are. I have a pair of RF 7 II's standing side-by-side of the RF 82 II's and my center speaker is the Klipsch RC 64 II, with the RS 62 II's surround speakers that I mounted on the wall above my couch, and the SW 311 subwoofer, all which I ordered from Crutchfield, The pro's at Crutchfield promptly answered all my questions, so I decided to pull the trigger and let the moths out of my wallet. You only live once, so if you want the best in sound, order your Klipsch speakers, THE KEEPERS OF THE SOUND from Crutchfield. When I ordered them, I couldn't wait to get them. The sound that they produce is PURE AUDIO ECSTACY. POWER. DETAIL. EMOTION. is exactly what you will get when you order your Klipsch speakers. If you want the best, you have got to pay for it.
Pros: The sound these speakers reproduce is exactly what sound engineers expect.
Cons: To me, there are no cons about the RF 82 II's. I have always believed that you get what you pay for. I give these speakers a 5 star rating.
When I was a kid I used to dream about the ideal stereo system.. Of course, like any dream, it included Klipsch Corner Horn speakers.. Now that I have the available resources to make my dreams happen I found a vintage Empire Troubadore turntable, (had an amp already) and went looking for speakers. I considered the Corner Horns, but they dont really fit the decor, so I got a set of Refernce 82s... Man, they are AWESOME !!! Of course that wasn't enough, so now I also have the rest of the refernce series 5.1 surround sound set. WOW!!!!! I am still unsure of the actual need for a subwoofer (or pair thereof) because the 82s have stunning thunderous low frequency response... as low as any of my source goes so far...
Pros: Not only is the sound thrilling, but the look great too!
Wow!! These speakers are awesome...they rock ! I put together a Klipsch, Def Tech , Denon surround system not really caring about " surround" since I'm mainly into music but.....now , I'm converted ! ...I have the best of both and Crutchfield showed me how.
Pros: No need for a sub, they look impressive
Cons: Hard to convince apartment manager your not the one with the loud music !!!
I purchased the RF-82II as my left and right reference speakers (purchased 2 towers in total), and to go along with the RC-64II center. I am pleasantly in awe of the clarity and depth these towers offer. They will play/ hit the highest of the highs and deepest lows that a movie sound track can throw at it, and will replicate and envelop you in warm melody if you're playing music through them. For the price, there is not a better tower on the market! (this is my opinion and based on how my ears hear the speakers).
Pros: price, clarity, style, size, warranty, power (RMS Watt) handling capability, Bi-Amp capability, weight, cabinet construction, packaging for shipping
Cons: if you are not accustomed to tower speakers of these dimensions, they could be heavy to you and less maneuverable around your home..... Nothing about these towers is negative
Crutchfield has always served me rite i have delt with them for probably 20 years or so always great service and never have to worry about returning an item your un happy with thanks Bill Crutchfield and staff.. Anyway i want to tell you these speakers are awaesome im useing the yamaha rx v 1900 recever on the klipsh rf-82-2. I dont know where some of these guys say no bass i have enough to knock nick knacks of my wall with the rf -82s alone i listen to music like bob segar and glenn frey no rap at all.. Ounce i went thru my receiver adjusted the geq turned the music enhancer on changed to large distance level etc my receiver even come alive able to use things the bose didnt need i used to have bose am 10s and 2 jbl pb 10 subs and lets just say these alone kick some royal butt !!! Im adding the rc-62 center and 2 pairs of rc 61 if you want a good speaker that sounds good and loud and bass that puts you there well think no more buy them i sure dont have any complaints about these speakers thanks Crutchfield and a job well done klipsh o and Dallas at Crutchfield good job my girls knick knack didnt break completely but she sure was mad lol these things rock !!!!
Cons: none i can find at this time
Little assembly required for floor stands/carpet spikes right out of the box. They are heavy and of obvous quality. You might concider a hand cart with towels for padding to locate in you room. Manufacturer recomends 2 feet behide for optimum bass response. I have 2 subs so bass response for me was not an issue. They perform well and provide excellent mid and high range main speakers for my set up. The detail I have been missing is amazing. By them selves as a stereo pair they sound ok, but I use them in concert w/ an entire Klipsch reference series speaker 9.2 setup. They are designed to work togeather and for that they are quite simply amazing.
Pros: Quality, sound, apearance, bi-amp ability
Cons: none so far
Recommended by Daisy Crutchfield and she was right on. Order processed and timely. Set up went well. The overall project is still going on.
Pros: I have been an audiophile since 1958 and the sound is excellent.
My system: 5.1 using Yamaha RX-V1900 7.1 receiver, total Klipsch speaker system with RF-82II left and right, RF62II center, RF-52II rear surround. Impressive detail and imaging, soundstage just grew with introducing these exceptional speakers(last 2 speakers to replace before the system became all Klipsch). Provides all the bass needed above the sub woofer frequency. Gives alot of punch in dynamics. Pricing is very reasonable and once you hear the impact of these speakers within your sound system, you will be amazed. Very easy to drive. They work well with complimentary Klipsch speakers to complete the surround layout. Before buying these speakers, I never used the "Direct Audio" mode of my audio receiver. Now, when I want to get serious about listening to a CD, I select Direct Audio without hesitation.
Pros: Great eye appeal. Awesome sound. Affordably priced. Great selection for stereo or surround application.
Cons: I truly can't think of any.
Excellent speakers, I was reading other reviews about they said dont have enough bass and they are totally wrong, I dont know what kind of amp they were using it but I have a denon avr 2808 ci and It make them scream so good and hit hard!!! I really recomend this speakers to anyone and its worth every dollar that you pay for them.
Great tight tweeter but not enough bass. Not as loud as the spec' s would have you believe. needs a subwoofer to really enjoy the full sound. Not bad but not what I expected from the reviews I had read.
im keeping this speakers as long as a I can. There perfect. I'm going to get four more for the surround sound. I manage to convince my wife to agree to it. It wasn't easy.
Is a massive upgrade from Infinity Beta 20's with 8" subwoofer . Sound quality , yes . construction quality , yes . Eye candy , yes . Made in China , yes . I really like these speakers , people looking for the total experience will want a nice subwoofer , these speakers dont go that low .
They are so much better than my old NHT speakers. They are attractive if a bit large but the sound is great. We have continued to shop at Crutchfield and been very satisfied. Music is so much more enjoyable, my Merle Haggard never sounded so good!
Bought a pair of these from Crutchfield about 5 months ago. The quality of sound is excellent- I got the matching center channel speaker and movies/TV sound great. I play lots of music as well, very pleased with the sound. Firm, natural bass, voices and acoustic instruments sound great, and they can handle anything from Bach to Hendrix. They sound great even at low levels, but it's just so tempting to crank it up and give them room to roam, The appearance is first-rate, too (I got the cherry finish). Highly recommended.
These are some of the best speakers I have ever owned. I went from a Yamaha 5.1 system to just these two speakers and wow!! Just these two speakers kick more than than my 5 surrounds and a sub. I wasn't sure the extra money for 2 speakers versus 5 would be worth it but I can assure you it is. I can turn these up so loud and they are still crystal clear. There is more bass in my room now than when I had my old sub going. I was so impressed I had to buy the rest of the set. I love these speakers! Just to let you know I am using a Denon 2808ci receiver to power this. 110w X 7
I admit to not being an audiophile but I enjoy good music of almost every sort with a collection of over 1000 CDs. These are pricey but well worth it and I'm glad I paid the additional $$$ for the wood finish. The speakers were paired up with a Yamaha RX797 Receiver and a Marantz CC4003 CD player. The sound is as if all my CDs are being rediscovered - the quality is incredible and many of my jazz CDs now sound as if I were in an intimate club with the players in the same room. Other than the dent in my wallet I have no regrets about any of the sound ensemble for my very special music listening room - these speakers are the foundation of the group - and I am very glad I dealt with Crutchfield for advice and price.
i bought these speakers RF 82II with the matching RC 62II and the RS 52II. i upgraded from an 15 year old polkaudio RMII 5.1 system. they are connected to an onkyo TX-SR806 receiver rated at 130WX7. compared to old system these speakers can be played at half the volume and still sound ten times better. granted these cost four times as much. these speakers are very effcient 95 DB and higher. i swear i can keep my infinty 12 sub turned off and the bass is still incredible. these speakers can play very low 33hz. my living room is only 15X21 and the whole sofa will vibrate at 1/4 to 2/3 volume. this might be overkill for a new york city apartment but i am very happy. as always great service from crutchfield.

Overview: The Klipsch Reference Series RF-82 II floor-standing loudspeaker delivers high-performance sound using Klipsch's advanced technologies and world-class materials. The Klipsch Reference RF-82 II employs dual 8.0-inch woofers and a 1.0-inch titanium diaphragm compression driver loaded with a square Tractrix Horn, inside a bass reflex enclosure. The Klipsch Reference Series floor-standing loudspeaker will bring out the power, detail, and emotion in your music, movies, or video games.
Highly-Efficient Design: The Klipsch RF-82 II utilizes a highly efficient design to produce more output using less power & energy for louder sound with less distortion. The RF-82 II is able to fill large rooms with outstanding, accurate, non-fatiguing sound that you can listen to for hours.
Tractrix Horn Tweeter: The Klipsch RF-82 II features a professional-grade 1.0-inch titanium-diaphragm compression driver inside a square Tractrix Horn for smoother high-end response with greater extension, enhanced imaging, and more powerful dynamics. The Tractrix Horn delivers a 90-degree wide by 60-degree high dispersion pattern for a broader sound-stage. Behind the horn lies a 1.0-inch titanium tweeter with a linear travel suspension for open, natural, sound.
Dual Woofers: The dual 8.0-inch woofers of the RF-82 II feature Klipsch's distinctive, copper-colored Cerametallic cones. Made with an anodized aluminum, these cones are strong and dent resistant. The anodizing process converts their inner and outer surfaces to ceramic. The outcome is a rigid cone with superb damping characteristics that will not flex or resonate at frequencies within the woofer's operating range. The 8.0-inch woofers also employ a rubber surround for added durability.
Crossover Network: For signal purity and perfect driver integration, the crossover on the RF-82 II features the finest components and Klipsch custom internal wiring.
Bass Reflex Enclosure: The dual 8.0-inch Cerametallic cone woofers and 1.0" titanium diaphragm compression driver are mounted in a Bass reflex enclosure which features dual rear-firing ports. The RF-82 II's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound and dual rear-firing ports to eliminate turbulence noise. A black metallic finished baffle around the horn mouth and dual woofers dramatically improve acoustics across the sonic range. The bass reflex enclosure features a MDF cabinet finished with either a Black Ash or Cherry wood-grain vinyl.
Magnetic Grille: The floor-standing loudspeaker features a removable magnetic grille which easily snaps into place over its cast-aluminum front baffle. The speaker can be used with or without its grille in place.
Dual Binding Posts: The speaker has two sets of binding posts connected by jumpers. Using the dual binding posts, you can bi-amp or bi-wire the speakers. The binding post terminals will accept banana plugs (single only), pin-connectors, spade-connectors, and bare wire.
Feet: The RF-82 II feature two integrated front-feet and two stabilizer rear-feet with rubber bottoms so you can safely place the speaker on your tile or hardwood floors. The Reference RF-82 II also comes supplied with a set of carpet spikes so you can place the speaker comfortably on your carpet. The supplied carpet spikes add approximately 1.0-inch to the height of the speaker. The carpet spikes screw in directly to the bottom of the floor-standing speaker's feet.
Placement: The Reference Series floor-standing loudspeaker is designed to perform well in a wide variety of locations but you will get the most out of the speaker by following these simple guidelines.

I already have a 5.1 set up with two RF 82 II's, one RC-62 II, two RS 52 II's in cherry along with an SVS PB 13 Ultra sub connected to a Yamaha RX-773 AVR. I was going to buy a pair of book shelf speakers but would have also needed to buy speaker stands and I was surprised to find that Crutchfield had the RF 82 II's in cherry and were only a little more than buying the book shelf speakers and stands. Most A/V receiver's will include their own speaker calibration software and microphone along with step-by-step on screen instructions to simplify the initial setup on your own. Given the number of receiver's that would work with your intended setup, you would be better off speaking with an Advisor directly by phone (1-800-324-9695) or online chat in order to get a more personalized recommendation--they can also answer any questions you have about installation and/or setup. Not at all they are amazing if you don't mind the size of the speakers. the room I have mine in is about 20-20. [ JASON Aug 06, 2015 ]
I don't think so. I have a 20x15 home theater with 2 in the left and right front and 2 more for the side surround. The sound quality is spectacular and for the price ($399 last time I looked) they can't be beaten. [ Jose Aug 06, 2015 ]
I think you can make it work if you have a well damped room. You will need to bring them out from the wall to limit bass reinforcement though. [ David Aug 05, 2015 ]
Nope they sound great [ Matthew Aug 04, 2015 ]
No. My pair is in a 16 by 20 room. Great sound. Front row! The more power they get the fuller and richer the sound. I listen to all genres of music and the sound great with all of them. 12 by 17 room I think would give you a personal experience! Good wishes! [ parkin Aug 04, 2015 ]
No such thing as to much. That's what level adjustments are for. The real question is, do you have good sound absorbing materials to absorb sound from bouncing around the room and getting "muddy"? Padding on walls perhaps a nice rug hung on the wall (can be very tasteful) or large canvas prints. Then a nice area rug or better yet straight carpet. [ Ryan Aug 04, 2015 ]
I put these in a room that's about 10 x 16 and they are fine. It all depends how much you push them. physically, they definitely have a presence in the room. As long as you're ok with that, you're fine! [ Phillip Aug 04, 2015 ]
You may want to try a few options to find the one that best fits the size, shape, etc., of your room. Mine are placed with the back of the cabinet about 10 inches from the wall and slightly angled to focus the sound towards the centre of the opposite wall. [ RAND Aug 03, 2015 ]
FYI - I returned my speakers, but when I did have them along with other Klipsch Speakers that I have owned they were placed about six inches from the wall. This helps fill the room with sound. Thanks! [ MICHAEL W Aug 03, 2015 ]
2 Feet for maximum performance. Mine are at 6 " though cause of the room configuration , and they sound amazing. [ Cristina Aug 03, 2015 ]
I have mine at 12" from the wall [ BRIAN Aug 03, 2015 ]
"Should" is a relative term. I have mine on either side of an entertainment cabinet that is about 6' long and 22" in depth. The towers are about 5" from the wall. The sound is superb, an awesome, full sound!! I can only guess that I could push them back a little more and I would not hear any difference. [ David Aug 03, 2015 ]
Hi- I have mine about 2.5 ft. away from the wall and they sound excellent. I would try to leave at least 16" if possible but experimenting in your room is the best option. These have two ports in the back. I believe the reccomended distance from each other is 11 ft. + but in my situation that wasn't possible. Mine are only 6.5ft apart from each other but still sound excellent. I paid $599 each for mine and am still very pleased. $400 shipped is a deal - I can't believe these aren't sold out yet. [ LINDA Aug 03, 2015 ]
You use the eq with names like Latin, Rock, dance etc? I recommend downloading a application from the App Store (type equalizer in the search box) and a lot of excellent equalizer apps will show up. Once downloaded all your music on iTunes will be available and play through the eq. You can even stream wireless through it to your receiver , Apple TV etc. It is a big improvement over the iTunes pre adjusted eq choices and they are cheap. [ LINDA Dec 11, 2014 ]
You did not specify which Denon receiver you have, so I cannot properly answer your question. I love my RF-82 II's. They are absolutely awesome speakers. Not only that, but when I bought a pair of RF-82 II's from Crutchfield, I paid $599.99 each. These are amazing speakers now selling at Crutchfield for a rock bottom bargain price. I listen to my stereo thru my macbook laptop, and I use the electronic equalizer which is available to all iTunes users. Go for it, you won't be disappointed. [ RICHARD Dec 11, 2014 ]
What model Denon receiver do you have? If it puts out at least 75-100watts to the front main speakers it should sound fine. If you want to get an amp later that is always a possibility because these speakers can handle it no doubt. How old is your receiver ? Because most newer models have built in equalization and some even include systems that eq themselves via a mic you place in various spots around the listening area during setup. Newer receivers connect to your TV via HDMI cable and optical cable so the receivers menus can be viewed and selections made by you by remote. Most subwoofers have their own amplifier built into the box it is in. In higher end receivers like Denon only low level line is connected to the sub. In my opinion these speakers are excellent for this price point. [ LINDA Dec 10, 2014 ]
Really don't know I have a Marantz 5007 reciever and it carries the 2 standing speakers and subwoofer center speakers and 2 surround speakers perfectly without using an amplifier. Hope this helps [ OLATUNJI Dec 09, 2014 ]
Yes it's a powered sub. [ Rubhard Dec 09, 2014 ]
I will provide that later. Does it matter? [ Rubhard Dec 09, 2014 ]
Yes, these speakers are very efficient speakers.. The sub will be a power sub right? I don't see a problem of you using your denon receiver.. But I'm wondering, what is the model number of your receiver? [ J Dec 09, 2014 ]
I'm powering both of these and a RC-62II and two RS-52II with a Denon X4100W in a home theater [ Michael Dec 17, 2014 ]
These are wonderful speakers and you will want two to balance the sound out. Start there and see if the Denon can drive them to your liking before purchasing anything else. I would think about the future and building a surround sound system, so the next piece of equipment you may want to research is a receiver that does 7.2 and can set up distances from the main listening position to the speakers. Even if you never do the 7.2 which is the norm, you will be very pleased with the 5.1 all set up automatically, and then add your personal touches to the set up. [ David Dec 09, 2014 ]
Thank you very much. [ Rubhard Dec 09, 2014 ]
A power amp is always fine, as long as it is power rated (rms and peak) for the speaker, even considering the high efficiency rating of these speakers. However, these Klipsch speakers are really designed for flat frequency response and most likely do not need an equalizer for superior sound. [ RONALD J Dec 09, 2014 ]
That receiver with 12000w most than what you need for all Klipsch speakers add another pair of Klipsch horn even better you have a good matching sysytem anyway enjoy. [ PAUL Nov 24, 2015 ]
THere Klipsch speakers are amazing. Great highs and lows. Might need some extra power to really enjoy their capabilities. You can't go wrong with these speakers. I've had them for over a year and no regrets this far! [ DAVID Nov 24, 2015 ]
They work superb with my Yamaha, so they should work just as well with your Denon. Nice rich sounding speakers, we're very satisfied with them. [ Richard Nov 24, 2015 ]
You need to install the feet yourself (they are shipped uninstalled). You could create your own solution, although you would want a way to protect the corners of the cabinet. [ SCOTT Jan 16, 2015 ]
YES. THE FRONT FEET ARE ALREADY FLUSH WITH THE SIDE OF THE SPEAKER, & COME ATTACHED. THE REAR FEET THE CUSTOMER MUST ATTACH THEMSELVES. BELIEVE ME, THESE ARE VERY SUBSTANTIAL BUT REMEMBER THIS SPEAKER WEIGHS IN AT SOME HEFT! ALL PARTS NECESSARY TO INSTALL THE REAR FEET ARE NICELY INCLUDED IN A SEPERATE PACKAGE PACKED WITHIN THE TOP STRYO PACKAGING, USED TO PROVIDE STABLE SHIPPING. ALL THE PARTS, WELL, BASICALLY THE 2 HEAVY DUTY REAR "FEET" ACTUALLY FLAT PAINTED METAL PLATES, PRE-DRILLED, 2 SELF THREADED MACHINE SCREWS, & 2 SELF THREADING WOOD SCREWS, ARE ALSO PACKED. FOLLOW THE EASY INSTRUCTIONS, AS EACH SPKR IS PRE-DRILLED, & DESIGNED FOR THE FEET TO BE INSTALLED EITHER OUT, OR IN, YOU WILL BE DONE IN 20 MINS. THEN, PLACE THE 82"S & ENJOY!, [I THINK] THE MOST PURE, AWESOME, SOUND REPRO AVAILABLE! NICE CHOICE. [ STEVEN C Jan 12, 2015 ]
When you buy them you have to install the back to feet with screws and the front have screw in feet.Just don't use them. [ Leigh Jan 12, 2015 ]
Yes, but why would you? The feet can be positioned directly under the unit so the width is that of the box. If height is a problem remove them. Mine are on a high carpet and the posts provided make them very stable. If it was a hardwood floor I would remove them. [ LEE W Jan 12, 2015 ]
That is good idea [ ANH H Jan 12, 2015 ]
The feet have to be attached after unpacking. So, yes. [ mike Jan 12, 2015 ]
Best audio purchase ever made in my entire life... I have mine bi-amped with solid, clean power and they sound better and better the louder they get. If you feed them a quality signal, you will be happy. [ CHRISTOPHER Dec 13, 2014 ]
GEORGE D: you need not worry! I too once owned a pair of L100'S along with a pair of L88's. i am very familiar with the hpm100's also. The Klipsch rf-82's that you have purchased have an excellent crossover point. The midrange is right there, & the highs are extremly lifelike. I would not trade my RF-82's for any other speaker out there! I have listened to music critically for over 50 yrs, & played for 45. I think you will really like them. Burn them in & after about 80-100 hrs,;awesome! I hope this helps! After all, they are the keepers of the sound! [ STEVEN C Dec 02, 2014 ]
If your near a big box store I believe they can play them for you.Im driving mine with a 60 watt vintage onkyo amp and they sound good.I didn't feel they were to bright and the mids were ok also.Im buying a new amp for them as I want more power.I emailed klipsch for suggestions for an integrated and they told me to just add a power amp like a crown and they will jump in your face. They are very efficient and produce a lot of sound with little power.I hope this helps. [ Leigh Dec 01, 2014 ]
Personally I think they are great. I suppose you could find speakers that played music better (like my old Valencia "Voice of the Theatre"- older than youe JBL) or a decent sound bar for movies, but for the money you would be hard pressed to beat these speakers. I use them with the Klipsch RC-64 II Reference Series Center Channel and Klipsch Icon WB 14 for the side and rear, along with a Klipsch 10" sub ( that is as old as your JBLs.) They are hooked to a Yamaha RX A 3030 receiver. I have found( IMO) keeping the speakers in the same "family"makes it easy to balance to the room. Again, I am very satisfied with them and I think you will be too. [ LEE W Dec 01, 2014 ]
Thank you for inquiry. I am very much pleased with the sound of the Klipsch Reference RF-82II speakers. I like particularly the bright sound from the horn tweeter. I would, however, suggest that you visit a show room to listen to the speaker for yourself. [ MYUNG Dec 01, 2014 ]
Back in the mid 70's I owned a pair of AR 9's and a Haffler preamp and power amplifier, I was in sonic heaven, the clean bass extension, the three dimensional imaging, the purity and effortlessness of the system were sonic bliss, eventually the foam surrounds of the AR's deteriorated and the preamp and amp both eventually died. Now in my early 60's I had convinced myself that since hearing deteriorates with age I didn't really need a nice stereo system, In any case I took the plunge and bought a NAD 326 BEE, Marantz 7004 streamer and the Klipsch RF82's. I would have upgraded to the next NAD and Klipsch but couldn't afford them. I only wish that I could listen to my system from the 70's for comparison (40 year old sonic memories can be subjective) I truly believe that my present system is far superior. [ ERIC D Nov 30, 2014 ]
This holiday weekend we watched the latest X-Men movie on blu ray, listened to Bach's Brandenburg concertos, and both discs of Pink Floyd's The Wall. After initially purchasing the 52's which were a bit harsh to my ear, I am very happy with the 82's performance. Crutchfield has been very accommodating with returns. If you don't enjoy them I'm sure they'll trade out for something else. Give them a good listen and best of luck! [ mike Nov 30, 2014 ]
hello, I think you will be very pleased with the klipch 82's I love mine .I run an onkyo tx nr 809 wich drives them very nicely I also have a klipch sub that fills the room with plenty of bass.I like the sound to me there is plenty of mid's and highs for both music and theatre.Hope you like them Enjoy Tony [ TONY Nov 30, 2014 ]

Sound is highly subjective but I am very pleased with these speakers. I have them with an RT-12d sub, rc-64 center, surrounds and driven by a Denon 3313ci.. I find the new generation tweeters even sweeter. To me they compare favorably with my son-in-laws B&W Nautilus. To me the sound is seamless across the bands for a 2-way set-up. With my sub driving the base and high efficiency of the rf-82II means they barely breath at all. You can do a lot with placement and helps if you have some space for these. I feel I got more speaker than I paid for. Only knock I can make on these is the vinyl covering, which does help lower the price, but it's well done and I can't notice unless I'm up close. If you don't listen to them yourself, you'll never answer any of your multiple questions. I have an older set of Polk Monitor 7 that I also love. They both have outstanding qualities, and I enjoy them both. The Klipsch have more physical output than the Monitor 7, but quality is very good either way. [ LUKE Mar 22, 2014 ]
well larry im going to answer your question the best way possible , but i must remind u i had a yamaha rx a 1000 running these monster towers and they sounded full as in they could hit the low notes with authority , although they were still a lil bright for my taste but u can always lower the treble to fix that . now im running them with a pioneer elite sc 79 and they sound even fuller than before, and they sounded less brighter than with the yamy. so yes , now they sound a lil better than before. the midrange on them were pretty good but not perfect , i think they hit a tat bit lower now since im powering them with a much powerful receiver, and yes they sound very clear , when a window breaks u can hear all the glasses broken down into tiny pieces , as for the sound , they blend in really well with the woofers , just cross them at 80 hz all small speakers and u will be fine. theres no need to make these towers large as , the sub will do the bottem , as stated before these towers have lots of bass on there own but if u dont have a sub that can hit the 20hz or lower then u can make these towers large but that would only be if u dont have a capable sub, there is no muffle or muddle as these speakers are very effecient and yes they will sound a lil bright but klipsch are known to be bright regardles of the receiver u use, but with that being said, i will say this having a pioneer elite as apose to a yamaha they do tame the brightness of the tweeter, im not saying the brightness will go away , but only lower the brightness i guess what im saying is they will sound a lil neutral/ warm . as far a pricess go, i have a polk rti a5 and yes they are not in the same price as the polk rti a7 or a9 , they sound about the same as the a7 or a9 , and the a7 i can compare to the rf 82 , i will say this, sound similar but if u really like the highs and the punchier speakeer with dynamics then klipsch is the winner, 2 reasons:more effecient , better dynamics for home theater [ rosa Mar 22, 2014 ]
The have good mid-range. Sound is full and clear. Not to heavy or light in any range. Bass is not muddy, very clear especially when you consider they are ported. But the port on these was done correctly and does what it is supposed to do without muddying up the base. Tweeter's are not bright or tinny in their sound. I listen to nearly all types of music and they sound great across the board. I have not found any gaps in the sound between the tweeter and woofers. I find they transition perfectly/seamlessly. As far as the price. I believe they are head and shoulders above the competition as this price point. I have them bi-amped with high quality speaker wire from Emotiva and powered by a Yamaha Aventage RX-A1000. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in the speaker at this price point. Thank you very much. It did help me to have a better idea of how the. Rf82 sound [ larry Mar 21, 2014 ]
I think they sound very good. The mid is ok,and the bass is crispy and tight. They aren't broken in yet so im sure they will sound even better then.If you don't like them you can return them,I don't think you will though.I think they are on sale right now also.As far as the tweeter goes I have no complaints.I just love them.I wanted the RF-7,s but couldn't afford them.I was considering adding a sub but I don't think I will need it.Hope this helps you.Im not the best at telling someone how well speakers sound. My 82's produce rich, full, clear mids and highs. The entire range my system has them playing (80+) seems perfectly balanced. I have not done a side-by side comparison with other similar speakers, but did with my previous 52's and the difference was very noticeable. I am very pleased with these speakers. A buddy who thought a 5.1 Bose system was impressive sat slack-jawed when he heard the 82's. [ mike Mar 21, 2014 ]
