The right fit is about more than comfort

The S4i II comes with four pairs of ear tips, because finding the right fit is especially important with in-ear headphones. Klipsch's patented oval ear tips serve two important purposes. First, they provide a comfortable fit by conforming to the shape of your ear canal, so you can keep them in for long periods without fatigue. Second, the ear tips create an acoustic seal for optimum sound, particularly in the low frequencies. This ensures accurate reproduction of your music while significantly reducing external noise, an important feature of any earbud that's going to be used in a variety of listening environments.

The convenience of in-line controls

Few devices are as user-friendly as an iPhone. But when you're listening to music on the go, skipping between tracks and adjusting the volume can be a pain. The S4i II's built-in remote means you can keep your iPhone or iPod® in your pocket or bag without giving up functionality. Even if a call comes in, the remote lets you answer the call while the built-in microphone lets you talk hands-free. Once you've gotten used to the convenience of an in-line remote on your headphones, you won't want to give it up.

Klipsch Image S4i II earbuds

C2vII from Highland, CA. on 2/21/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These buds took a little getting used to. I wear them with the cables out and wrapped above my ears. As soon as I started placing them this way, I caught on to what other reviewers were describing. These cancel noise really well, and with the right placement, the levels of music became evident. Fine highs and mids, substancial but not overpowering base. I listen to a wide variety of music, and was impressed at the quality and depth of sound regardless of the music type. Definitely worth the dollars!

Pros: Aside from the sound, they appear really well made. Good gauge flat cables with a little extra support at the bud. I like the even-length cables and the in-line volume/on-off controller right where I can easily get to it. I'm not much of a bling guy, but I have to admit these buds are also pretty cool to look at.

Cons: It may be my weird ear canals, but the rubber tips on the buds seem to slip out of my ears a tad easier than I'd like... nothing I can't get used to.

Great sound

Superb Sound

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

These (s4i II) are the 3rd pair of Klipsch earbuds I've owned in the last 2 years. The original s4i (had 2 of these previously) tend to have the wires fray and each pair lasted me a few months. I'm hoping the newly designed cables have more longevity/endurance than the older style. The sound quality is impressive. Excellent tonal range and surprisingly solid bass. These are great earbuds at a reasonable price. Free shipping is a great plus!

Pros: Excellent sound quality, tonal range, updated cable design, comfort, multiple in-ear bud options, iphone controls.

Cons: None so far....

Terrific Investment

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I initially purchased Sol Republic Amps HD based on a sales consultant's recommendation. I did not like the fit and subsequently the sound quality wasn't great. The Klipsch Image S4ii is everything that I had hoped the Sol product would be. I've been listening to some tunes that I've been listening to for 30 years and have heard instrumentation that I've never heard before. I strongly recommend these to anybody look for high quality at a very good price. Crutchfield's customer service was second to none when it came to shipping the SOL product back and recommending the Klipsch to me. Always impressive! Free Shipping was exceptionally quick too.

Pros: Sound quality is superb. Fits in my ear perfectly. Carrying pouch is a nice touch to keep the buds from getting damaged in my pocket or briefcase.

Cons: I wish the "L & R" markings were more distinguishable. They're very small and hard to read. The cord is a little long compared to others. I have to stuff a lot of it in my pants pocket when I'm walking with them on.

8.5mm Driver: The Klipsch Image S4i II in-ear headphones deliver premium sound through the use of a single, 8.5mm dual magnet micro-speaker per channel. These drivers cover a wide frequency range (10Hz-19kHz) with dynamic detail, crisp highs, and deep bass.

Noise Isolating Ear-Tips: The Image S4i II headphones features angled housings for proper in-ear alignment. The Image S4i II 's exclusive soft and flexible oval ear-tips naturally fit the contours of your ear canals, providing comfortable long-term wear as well as producing a perfect acoustic seal. A good seal minimizes outside noise, also known as noise isolation (up to -16), and allows you to enjoy your music at lower, safer volumes. The Image S4i II comes with four different sizes of washable ear-tips;  small, medium, and large single-flange ear-tips, plus a pair of dual-flange ear-tips.

3-Button Mic and Remote System: Thanks to its advanced 3-button mic and remote system, the Image S4i II in-ear headphones offer control of your Apple iPod, iPhone, or iPad. The 3-button remote control lets you answer and end calls, turn the volume up and down, and control music playback (Play/Pause, Fast Forward/Rewind, Previous/Skip). Unlike other headsets, the S4i II positions its mic and remote at the cable yoke to create a more natural feel when answering calls and controlling music. The mic is a highly intelligible 360° design with echo cancellation, so you will be heard crystal clear and will not have to worry about the external noise around you. The Klipsch Image S4i II headphones are compatible with the following Apple iPod, iPhone, and iPad models (as of 9/6/2012).

Improved bass response

Written by Ralph Graves, Staff Writer - Creative, on 9/13/2012 11:02:00 AM

The Klipsch Image S4i II seem to pick up where the original S4i's left off. The flat, tangle-resistant cord is helpful, especially for on-the-go listening. In the Labs, I ran through a playlist of test tracks on the iPhone. The overall sound was clean and detailed, with a surprising amount of bass response.

It's hard to describe, but on R&B and rock tracks the bass seemed to have a resonance that gave it real depth. And the details in the mids and high were right where they needed to be. Classical and acoustic singer-songwriter tracks also sounded good. The music was warm and natural, and while the bass was present, it didn't overpower the mix.

The earbuds fit comfortably in my ear, and did a good job sealing out the ambient sounds of the labs. And the 'phones weigh almost nothing — which is important if you're going to be listening for a while.
