Product Research

Features

Overview: The Wiremold CordMate II Cord Organizer allows you to conceal and organize loose audio/video cables along your walls or baseboards. The channels have a self-adhesive backing to make them simple to install. The CordMate II can be painted or stained to match your décor.

Installation: Once the CordMate II channels are cut to the desired length, they can be attached to the wall using the self-adhesive strips. Up to 4 cables (2 power cords maximum) can fit into the channel. The 30" long channels are approximately 7/8" at the widest point, and 3/8" in height internally.

Supplied Accessories: The CordMate II comes with four 30" cord channels. Three couplers allow you to string four channels together in a straight line. Two supplied flat elbows let you turn corners along the same wall, and a "tee" coupler lets you route cables in different directions. The CordMate II also comes with one inside elbow and one outside elbow for making the turn around inside or outside corners on adjacent walls.

Q
Can you cut it? If so, with what tool(s)?

A
Razor knife worked for me. Easy to cut and works well.

Q
When you remove the channels from the wall, will it do damage? Or are the adhesives similar to 3M where they donâ??t do damage?

A
I did not attach the channels to a wall - I was concerned it might leave damage. I simply inserted the cables and placed the channels on the floor up against the wall. So I'm not able to answer your question. Suggestion: do a test in a wall area that's hidden to see if adhesive causes damage.

I did not run my channels on the wall, I used the baseboard and door moldings. In the picture shown, I would have ran them along the wall at the top of the countertop. The round molding is for one wire. It is hard to open. I much prefer the corner channels and the flat channels. I would paint them to match. No one even notices mine. It looks like additional molding. The adhesive is very grabby to hold the wires and channels. From my experience you should it expect it to remove paint from the wall. Plan it out ahead of time. I consider mine to be permanent.

Yes it did on my drywall ....stupid me!

In my experience the strips come off as easy as they go on.

Q
How shiny is the outside surface? Is it paintable? Would standard wall paint easily rub off?

A
The finish is what they refer to as an eggshell finish. Almost a satin. You could use a Kilz primer, but I would not bother. Think about it, how much rubbing is going on. If it is in a kitchen area that gets a lot of wiping and grease etc. I would leave it as it is.
dorothy  Jul 07, 2018
A
The appearance is matte and yes it is paintable.
tyrone  Sep 25, 2017

The surface is smooth but not shiny. I think that standard wall paint would work well on this product. If you need it to be resistant to peeling, a good primer base coat is always a good idea.

Q
Once the organizer is attached to the wall, can you take the wires out without tearing the organizer off the wall?

A
I installed mine with the overlapping opening on top. I would hold one hand on the channel while you unlock the channel using a flat head screw driver, sliding it along the opening. Then I would hold it while gently pulling the wires out. It would be nice to have a second person helping.
dorothy  Jul 07, 2018
A
Yes, you can. One side of the plastic tube is not permanently connected. The edges just overlap, so you can peel them apart to remove or add cable.
cristian  Jun 26, 2016
A
Yes you can but I would not do it a lot of times. It also depends on where you have it installed and what wires you have. If you have a very tight fit it will be harder to take out and you will have possibility of pulling off the wall.
