Definitive's compact Mythos Six speaker will deliver great sound no matter where you place it. This versatile speaker can be used as an on-wall left, right, or surround channel speaker, or you can mount it on the included glass base for placement on your entertainment cabinet. Best of all, the Mythos Six features some of Definitive's best speaker technologies for a wide soundstage, pinpoint imaging, and superb realism.
The pure aluminum dome tweeter produces sparkling, clear highs.
At the center of the cabinet are two 3-1/2" midrange drivers surrounding a 1" dome tweeter. The pure aluminum dome tweeter produces extended highs that reveal nuance and shimmer without a trace of edginess. Surrounding the midranges are two 3-1/2" bass radiators, which give the Mythos Six better bass performance than you might expect from such a slim speaker.
The enclosure is made of black hand-polished aluminum for a sleek look that'll go well with most modern décors. Die-cast aluminum baskets, a resonance-free PolyStone baffle, and proprietary damping technologies built into the cabinet ensure clean sound.
Put together a complete home theater system using Mythos Six speakers as your front left and right channels, a Mythos Seven for your center channel, and Definitive's Mythos Gem surround speakers. Add Definitive's SuperCube 2000 or ProSub 800 for hard-hitting bass.
Did you know?
Your new speakers will probably sound better after several weeks of use than they do right out of the box. That's because the material surrounding the woofers will loosen up, allowing the drivers to move more fully. Definitive Technology estimates a break-in period of 24 to 48 hours of playback before the speakers will deliver optimum sound quality. For more information and helpful tips, check out this article from Definitive's website about conditioning your speakers.

Amazing sound with no complaints.
Replaced Infinity towers that was taking up too much room. Wasn't sure how such small speakers could replace floor speakers , but was amazingly surprised! Great sound and easy to install hanging them on the wall.
Pros: Great clear sound, easy to install as wall hangers.
Im not surprise. I had a bose system and it sounds much better at high levels. The mid bass at high level losses their quality. You can not increase the volume without compromissing quality.
Cons: Not good a high volume
Look great and the sound is surprisingly good. Very clear dialog and full rich sound.
Pros: Very attractive styling and great sound.
Cons: Good value but still would like them to cost less.
Very happy with the quality of sound, both for surround sound and listening to music. Replaced large floor speakers as my wife was tired of the size.
Pros: Great Style, good sound
I bought 2 Mythos Six and a Seven along w/ a ProSub 800 for center, side & sub speakers for a new Samsung plasma and although they're still new to me, I really like the sound of the outer speakers. The Sub is a little bit "all there or not" but the Mythos' are all great...look and sound terrific.
Pros: Great sound, compact, nice look
The speakers themselves are incredible. They separate the highs and lows extremely well and can handle their own with speakers that are much larger. Installed with a Mythos Seven center speaker. Their size is very complementary to the 60" flat screen even while installed on their galss stands. The quality of design and manufacture is terrific. I have only two minor issues. The first is the setup instructions in the manual leave a some to be desired; a blow-apart picture would help with the glass base installation to make it clearer. And secondly the wire connections on the rear are too close together to facilitate easy wire insertion; they do work great with banana plugs, but tough with stubby fingers. Overall a great speaker and would recommend highly.
Pros: Great sound, terrific design and manufacture, do what they claim to do. Sound gets better every day they are in use as noted in the manual
Cons: Setup instructions could use a blow-part picture to show the relationship of washers to screws to base, and consider moving the rear speaker wire connection a little farther apart to help inserting the wire if one does not use banana plugs. Do understand this is so the dual plug devices can be used.
I purchased the Def Tech MYTHOS SIX a month ago as front speakers for a 7.1 system. I was adding them to a 5.1 Infinity TS-1100 satellite speakers and 12" subwoofer which are now used as side and rear surround sound. The MYTHOS six did exactly as hoped by adding a little more midrange and a much more realistic high end and look fantastic wall mounted next to my 50" Samsung. When I first turned them on I was a little disappointed in the lack of "punch". But after a break in period of about 10 hours they came to life. The only disadvantage to the Def Techs is they cannot be "aimed" so they must be placed relatively close the the TV.

Overview: The Definitive Technology Mythos Six is a compact high-definition loudspeaker which can be used as a front or surround speaker for your home theater system. The Mythos Six is equipped with two high-definition 3-1/2 inch drivers pressure-coupled to two 3-12 inch planar low-bass radiators, and a 1-inch pure aluminum dome tweeter with an acoustically contoured faceplate for exceptional high-frequency extension, detail, and smoothness. The Mythos Six also features a hand-polished gloss aircraft-grade extruded aluminum enclosure with proprietary damping technologies to ensure total rigidity and perfectly accurate sound. The loudspeaker can be shelf-mounted or wall-mounted using the supplied pedestal base and wall-mount bracket.
Speaker Array: The Definitive Technology Mythos Six contains a D'Appolito array consisting of two high-definition 3-1/2 inch drivers housed in a air-tight enclosure. The drivers feature die cast Aluminum baskets, mono-polymer cones and finite element analysis optimized magnet structures for clear low distortion life-like sound. The active drivers are pressure-coupled to two 3-1/2 inch planar low-bass radiators for exceptional bass extension. The bass roll-off of the Mythos Six is smooth and controlled, allowing it to seamlessly blend with a powered subwoofer, such as Definitive's SuperCubes, for audiophile-grade home theater power and precision. A 1-inch Pure Aluminum dome tweeter produces the speakers extended highs.
Break-In Period: The Mythos Six will sound good right out of the box; however, an extended break-in period of 20-40 hours or more of playing is required to reach full performance capability. The break-in period allows the suspensions to work in and results in full bass, a more open midrange, and smoother high frequency reproduction.
Extruded Aluminum Enclosure: The Mythos Six enclosure is hand-polished gloss back aircraft-grade extruded aluminum with proprietary damping technologies that ensure total rigidity. All components are mounted on a resonance-free PolyStone baffle. These construction technologies along with state-of-the-art drivers and tweeter serve to deliver high quality sound with a wide soundstage, pinpoint imaging, high dynamic impact, and superb realism.
Binding Posts: The Mythos Six is equipped with a pair of gold-plated, 5-way binding posts to attach your receiver's speaker wire.
Applications: The Mythos Six can be used as front main or rear/side surround speaker in your home theater audio system. The Mythos Six should only be positioned vertically when wall-mounting or shelf-mounting the speaker.
Mounting: The Definitive Technology Mythos Six comes with easy-to-install mounting hardware that allows it to hang on the wall beside your flat-panel television. The included wall mount bracket allows direct mounting to a wall. It also includes a tempered glass base to give them stability and style when placed next to a table-top flat-panel television.

I use these Mythos Sixes primarily for home theatre, but do listen to music through them on occasion. I wouldn't call them "ideal" for music but they're excellent speakers. If I were to want to use Definitive for music primarily, depending on your room size and height of ceilings, I'd likely go to one of their tower products. I'd highly recommend Def Tech in any case![ Robert Mar 13, 2015 ]
Hi Carlos. Yes. I listen to music all the time through these. I have a Sony receiver (str 1050 I think), a DT supercube, 2 DT 6's and 1 DT 7. The DT 7 is used as a center channel. This was an upgrade for me from a ZVOX sound bar. I watch concerts on you tube all the time and it sounds awesome.... good luck...[ JASON Mar 13, 2015 ]
I bought three of these as a part of a home theatre set up. The other speakers and sub are the same brand. They are terrific for any kind of listening whether music, movies or good old television. I'm using them with a Denon E400.[ GERALD Mar 12, 2015 ]
Yes Carlos , although we watch more movies than listen to music my wife listens to music through them , these our the best speakers I have ever owned , Paradigm, Polk, Advent , these Mythos top them all & they can take a lot of power , I have a 110 watt per channel Yamaha & a very big room & these can fill it with ease . My wife & I or in our 60 s & when we listen to these we crank them up & enjoy the show. We also purchased the matching center channel & the rear deflecting speakers . I don't think you will be sorry for your purchase .[ STEVEN Mar 12, 2015 ]
These are excellent speakers for music. You do need to have a subwoofer with them. I listen to classical, country, rock and blues and they perform well with all. I have them mounted on the wall with the TV and a DT Mythos center channel and they work well with movies also.[ ERIC Mar 12, 2015 ]
