Definitive Technology ProCinema 600
Nice solid speaker
Pros:
Cons:
Definitive's BDSS technology make these speakers deliver exceptional sound.
Definitive's compact ProCinema 600 6-piece home theater speaker system delivers excellent sound quality that'll impress your friends and family on your next movie night. This system features many of the same driver technologies found in Definitive's top-of-the-line models. It includes four small satellite speakers and a center channel, plus a 250-watt powered subwoofer for thrilling surround sound.
Passive radiators help expand the speakers' frequency range.
All five speakers have a 1" pure aluminum dome tweeter that produces extended highs, revealing nuance and shimmer without a trace of edginess. At the top of each satellite speaker and on either side of the center channel sits a 3-1/4" passive radiator cone that's pressure-coupled to the midrange woofer. These passive radiators increase the lower-midrange output of each speaker without increasing the size of the enclosure.
A passive radiator on the bottom of the subwoofer extends its bass output.
Definitive's ProSub 600 adds the excitement of deep, rumbling bass. A front-mounted 8" woofer works together with a pressure-coupled low bass radiator on the bottom of the enclosure to produce hard-hitting bass. Rigid baskets and a non-resonant cabinet make sure that you hear clean bass without sound-muddying vibrations. A 250-watt amplifier and advanced crossover ensure accurate bass response. And a continuously variable low-pass crossover and a side volume control allow you to seamlessly blend the ProSub 600 in with the rest of the system.
The satellite speakers come with tri-lobed bases and the center channel comes with a leveler foot so you can easily place the speakers on shelves. You can also mount them on your walls using the keyhole slots for out-of-the-way placement. Connect the sub and tuck it under a table or in a corner, and you're ready to go.
Most speakers don't include any. Learn about choosing and installing speaker wire at the Crutchfield Learning Center.

Did you know?
Your new speakers will probably sound better after several weeks of use than they do right out of the box. That's because the material surrounding the woofers will loosen up, allowing the drivers to move more fully. Definitive Technology estimates a break-in period of 24 to 48 hours of playback before the speakers will deliver optimum sound quality. Nice solid speaker
Pros:
Cons:
Great sound for the money.
Pros:
Cons:
A great little system perfect for my man cave! Does not sound good until fully broken in, at least 30 hours before any serious listening. Decent imaging and surprisingly good bass... Crossover frequency is critical to getting a fully integrated sound. Good value, especially from the outlet... ??
Pros: Compact Flexible. Mounting options
Cons: Needs run-in to sound it's best
I bought these home theater speakers 4.5 years ago and have loved them from the moment my home theater came together. Music, movies, sports on TV, it all sounds great. To this day, every once in a while, I'll be watching a movie and hear a sound from one of the rear channels that makes my head snap around to see what's there. My Crutchfield advisor recommended them based on my budget, receiver and room size. I have never regretted this decision.
Pros:
Cons:
After spending literally thousands of dollars on different sound systems I finally called Crutchfield for help. I asked them to help me in choosing a sound system to meet my expectations and budget, The Definitive Technology Pro Cinema 600 was their recommendation for speakers. These speakers look good and more important they sound good. I will be using Crutchfield in the future for all my electronic needs as they have proved the are interested in helping you find what you need and want more than just making a sale.
Pros:
Cons:
I was really torn on which system to buy..... I didn't want to break the bank as I'm not an "audiophile" -- but I also didn't want to get a cheap system that I would end up regretting. I was torn between this system and the comparable BOSE and POLK systems. After reading the reviews on this system along with the price -- I decided to give it a shot -- I'm glad I did. The system is exactly what I'm looking for -- great sound while not being too BIG or obtrusive. I wired the system in to my DENON receiver and I'm very happy with the sound quality and the look of the system. About the only thing I do not like is the smaller speakers have a "foot" on the bottom of them that looks a bit strange since I've wall mounted all of the satellite speakers. The foot can be removed, but if you do that you have a screw hole on the bottom. Definitely not a HUGE deal, but It would be nice if there was some sort of "plug/cover" for the hold so the "feet" can be removed and still have a clean look. Most of the negative reviews mention the sub having issues...... So far so good for me. If I have an issue I'll contact the manufacturer or Crutchfield..... Very happy with my purchase.
Pros: Price, Sound, Look
Cons: "feet" on the bottom of the satelites
Sounds great!!
Pros: Easy setup. Big sound for a small unit.
Cons:
Nice looking units and sound great.
Pros:
Cons:
Great sound. Easy to set up
Pros: Solid sound
Cons: No rear center speaker
Excellent quality and sound all around. Money well spent.
Pros: Solid built. Clear sound. Fair price
Cons:
These little speakers are super powerful. The sound is clear and the base is booming. Highly recommend.
Pros:
Cons:
This is a great surround sound system for the price. The center channel is strong, the satellites could have more depth but are clear and crisp. The subwoofer has a great sound as well, and the side-mounted volume control is convenient and discrete. The white really looks great in my living room. One thing to note is that the fabric covering the speakers is delicate cloth and will get dirty if touched too much, something to consider if you like the white speakers but have kids and pets.
Pros:
Cons:
Really good speakers for the price.
Pros:
Cons:
I think it's the best sounding speakers I have ever owned and haven't had one problem with them yet and don't see any happening
Pros:
Cons:
Great quality sound for decent sized room on somewhat of a budget. Could have spent double what i spent for likely the same qualify. Easy setup. Only flaw i have found is 2nd channel when playing outdoor speakers only have capability to play Radio on that channel have tried and tried to get the capability to play other sources but wont give any options. If that is just me not understanding the setup then i would say this is 5 out of 5 stars but as it does not seem to be a function i give it 4
Pros: Sound Quality is top notch. Ease of setup for main surround area.
Cons: 2nd channel lacking options other than Radio source.
Crutchfield response on 7/26/2017 Thanks for your review, Chris. We ran this by our tech support team, and they sent along this tip: Some A/V receivers can only play analog sources and the tuner in the 2nd zone. If you are using other digital sources, it may worth trying to connect them using analog RCAs (if possible) to see if that allows you to play those sources.
very good starter home theater package, perfect base for a guest room. I upgraded the center channel to a ProCenter 1000, added ProMonitor 800s for the mains, & a ProSub 800 for a second subwoofer, and voila ! , there is a 7.2 system. sounds fine. I recommend this system.
Pros: easy set-up & easy to upgrade as Def. Tech has matching components.
Cons: recommend using banana plugs as straight wire hook-up is difficult especially when speakers are wall-mounted.
Great set of speakers. Really handle the power from the surround receiver. Much better than the Sonys I used to have.
Pros: The subwoofer vibrated the center speaker off the TV stand. Had to put a non-slip pad under it.
Cons: Bass sounds good during music & DVD movies, but I have to turn it up during TV.
Amazing product, the sound and quality of Definitive Technology speakers blew me away. I have had Bose for the last 10 years, and was doubtful anything could compare, I was wrong, goodbye Bose hello Definative Technology.
Pros:
Cons:
The surround system I bought has great sound and was easy to set up. The original sub woofer did not work, but the Crutchfield team immediately sent me a new one and made the return as painless as possible.
Pros: Good clear sound for the price. Crutchfield stands by the products they sell.
Cons: The original sub woofer did not work.
Sound clarity is very good and feeling like watching movie in real theater. Crutchfield delivery and customer support awesome
Pros:
Cons:
great price, product not in use yet
Pros:
Cons:
Great sounding speakers
Pros: Sounds nice clear good for the price
Cons: Had this system for 4 to 5 months and a sub went out today been reading reviews and this sub has many problems
Really like these speakers. Realy good for the price point. Sub can be a bit buzzy if you crank it to much.
Pros:
Cons:
We purchased the ProCinema 600 had it for a month and the subwoofer blew. My husband thought that was a bit strange. We actually purchased ours from the local big box store and when we did it was not on sale so I can tell you he was not happy. He did take the subwoofer back and had them take one from a new set and swap it out and he wasent leaving until they gave him a new one. That was the first thing we ever purchased there and it was expensive so for it to go bad like that in a month was not good. So we're hoping that we just got a bad one.
Pros: Small and nice
Cons: The subwoofer went bad within a month
I downsized from bookshelf sized speakers 5 1/2 inch woofers and 10 inch sub to this so I can hang every thing on the wall and hide all the wires. If you listen to music alot I think you would be happier with larger speakers these sound thin to me but for TV and movies these are very good in a 12X18 room and I cannot tell any difference using a smaller sub. The sub is a nice size and i am able to hide it next to a back corner of a sofa a 10 inch sub was nearly like and end table. Center channel speaker handles voice very well. I hung all on walls using a Rocketfish brackets 5 piece I used 4 of the adjustable brackets to hang the fronts and surrounds but the center required 2 brackets, there were enough parts for non adjustable pieces that I was able to drill out 2 pieces and put in 1/4 bolts through the back that came with the brackets you will need 2 more hollow wall anchors to complete this. I dont think you would gain much buying the much more expensive Def Tech hangers. It is a lot of work to pull all of the wires through the walls/floors/ceiling I did not obtain price for installation but I think for the time it took me it would had been worth paying for it.
Pros: Small clean looking installion.
Cons: Mais and surrounds have small woofers that sound a little thin for music.
Great speakers with great sound
Pros: Easy hook up with use of banana plugs
Cons:
These are a great set up especially for the price, the 8'' subwoofer works great but id rather have a 10'' or 12'' now that i have it set up. overall i cannot complain they sound great. my room is 24x30 and it fills the room with sound. my neighbors may hate me before the year is over.
Pros: sleek design, small speakers that pack a punch.
Cons: Subwoofer would be better.
Great equipment, works just as advertised!
Pros:
Cons:
I bought this setup on the recommendation of an audiophile friend. Overall, it is a great package if you get it on sale. Excellent clarity in the high/mid-range, especially for movies. Not the best for music, but since I'm generally running lossy audio through it, not a huge deal. The only problem is with the subwoofer. The first one that came with the system had some serious sleep/wake issues, so Crutchfield sent me a new one. This one WILL wake up, but only if the gain on my receiver is set to +8 dB minimum (range for the RX-v679 is -10 to +10). This makes using the YPAO feature of the receiver trickier than it should be, since I have to manually bump up the .1 channel on the receiver, and then turn it back down on the subwoofer.
Pros: Great for movies and TV. Small and light satellites. Excellent vocal reproduction.
Cons: ProSub 600 is kind of janky.
I purchased a scratch and dent set, they sound very good, but the center channel speaker grill has two small holes and the sub woofer has a dent in the top of the cabinet. I spoke with a Crutchfield team member and they stated that they would handle my concern.
Pros: Speaker quality seams very good, and the sound quality also.
Cons: I feel confident Crutchfield's will remedy my concerns about the cosmetic issues.
Beautiful speaker design and excellent details. The sound and depth is incredible. I am using in a room 15 x 12 in combination with Onkyo TX-NR747. I am not a professional sound Engineer but for me this simple combination produces great sound. I am using since 2 week and I am enjoying every single day when I play PS4, movie or music. It is fantastic, am very happy with my purchase. Everything is working fine. Thanks Crutchfield...
Pros: Small design but great sound. Construction and color details are perfect. I selected the white color and looks great for my room. Also you can detach the speaker cover to match the color of your room with white and black.
Cons: None
I originally purchased the 400 in the same series. My wife said she would rather have a white set of speakers hanging on the wall. So I worked with a fantastic guy On the phone who help me out. Install the speakers within two days and was very surprised how much better they sounded then the four series. Especially the base. Very satisfied
Pros: Small size large sound and the base is much better
Cons: none so far
5- excellent sound and depth is incredible compared to old set.
Pros: Clean, crisp, quick and easy to setup
Cons: None so far
I have been using this system for about 4 months and here is my review: There are different sound systems in this series that performance really well than this, but based on my budget and space, I have decided to go with this based on other reviews. This is a premium Audio system which does its job well. Before started to experience the full potential, we need to follow the instruction manual and should go with Option 1 method setup(which has some additional wiring though) and I have set the crossover frequency to 60 Hz, both in the receiver and the Sub., it defaults to 80Hz. Subwoofer is left with little over half of the bass knob. Ipod/USB/Mp3, Online Music: Sounds really good, clean and crisp and no distortion. DVD/Bluray/Audio/Movies: Sounds fantastic with surround setup. The bass is tight and not boomy. Previously with 80Hz crossover, Bass was overpowerring and it takes more frequency bands(terrific experience was playing Iron Man 3, after the movie, I realized that my Subwoofer was moved out of its location). Once done with a optimum setup, all the frequency bands gets distributed evenly across all the 5 channels based on their filters. To really needs to experience the good sound need to sit in the sweet spot(preferably in the centre). I bought it in a deal for $550 with $300 receiver, for the price, getting a premium audio is great and enjoyable. If anybody is like me with budget/space issue, I highly recommend this, but if you can spend $300 m
Pros: small, stylish, sounds crystal clear.
Cons: run little more wires than usual.
Spent almost 5 Gs less than a year ago building a 7 in 1 Martin Logan home theater for my living and dining quarters . Decided to put together a little some um some um for my bedroom , called on Crutchfield again and they answered the bell .Definitive 600 and set of 1000 for the fronts to complete another perfect 7in 1 . The best part is its really hard to tell the difference until you turn it up really loud.
Pros: In one word SUPERB . In two words SUPERB CLEAN .
Cons: None
We did our homework and listened to a lot of high end speakers before purchasing the ProCinema 600 speakers. For the money (purchased on sale), these speakers are virtually impossible to beat. They sounded good in the listening room at the local store and even better once we got them home, calibrated them (Denon AVR-X2200 receiver) and they had a few hours of "break-in". Awesome!
Pros: Great sound and value for the price.
Cons: ProMount 80 speaker mounting kits are additional (3 pairs required). Seems like much less of a value than the speakers but the mounts are also exceptional.
these are exceptional speakers
Pros: excellent speakers even my wife enjoys them
Cons: none
Surround sound is amazing, perfectly sized for my 20 by 22 family room.
Pros: Depth of sound, deep bass
Cons: None
Sound is very good from the speakers. The subwoofer sounds very good as well but can distort at higher volumes. This may be due to the receiver settings, however i did use the built in Audysee sound set up on my Denon reciever. I was very impressed by the quailty of sound that the speakers produce for their small size. I'm happy with my decision to go with the Def Tech over other speakers that were around the $1,200 price point.
Pros: Size, sound quality, bass radiators give advantages of larger speakers, quality of build
Cons: Sub can distort at high volumes (not really a con given the price), kind of weird wireing for front speakers.
Very clear and clean. Set up with this speaker is denon AVR X2100W.
Pros: The speakers are small enough with incredibly clean sound. After listening to This system, it convinced my sister to get rid of her old 5 speaker bose system.
Cons: The sub does move around/ bounce on my tile floor if the bass is set too high. I'll just have to figure out to put weights on top of it.
Do these speakers out-perform towers? Probably not, but given they are so small, they sound really great. The system as a whole performs as expected from many of the other reviews. The blend between the subs and front L/R speakers is very nice when setup running through the subwoofer as recommended. Performance on movies is very good, performance on music is good, but not as good as movies. I have this paired with a new Onkyo 737, and I'm very happy with both.
Pros:
Cons:
Great speakers and great clear sound coming from these small speakers , the subwoofer is in a class by itself . Not to mention the reasonable price .
Pros: Saves space and not even noticeable especially when wall mounted.
Cons: none
For how small this product is I was very impressed on the sound it put out. I put this in a 20'by 20' living room and it fills the room perfectly. The subwoofer it a powerful little guy. For everyday listening I had to turn it down below half way.
Pros:
Cons:
I bought these to replace a Polk sound bar and subwoofer. The sound is very good and professional quality from these small speakers. I don't hear any limitations that lesser speakers have. And the center speaker makes dialog clearer and the subwoofer makes movie much more exciting. I also bought the Sony A/V receiver and they work well together to fill the room. The speakers themselves are solid and heavy but still easy to mount on the walls. If only they could magically work without running all those wires.
Pros: High quality and great sound. Surround effects.
Cons: none.
I enjoy home audio, but I wouldn't describe myself as a true audiophile. This is the first time in 18+ years since I have bought surround sound speakers, and I am very happy I did. Bass is an incredible upgrade from what I had previously. Other speakers are also significantly cleaner/crisper than old unit I had.
Pros: Nice discount "packaged" with Onkyo TX-NR838 system I also purchased. Incredible bass, and overall encompassing surround sound.
Cons: not cheap, but quality reflects the price paid. No mounting brackets included (state for future buyers' awareness, not necessarily a "con".)
I had recently come into a $500 gift certificate and was looking to dispose of it so I decided to upgrade my LR home theater system. I bought the Def Teck Pro Cinema 600 which qualifed for a $250 discount if purchased along with a qualifying receiver. I chose the Onkyo TRNX-646. When I called I questoned the advisor on the speakers asking if the DefTechs were that much better than the Polk TL250 or the TL1600 which in similarly priced he said go with the DT`s. The receiver is on backorder so upon arrival of the Def Tech`s I connected everything to my existing Sony HTIB. The improvment is astonishing. I did buy these with the available speaker stands (4) which I think are overly expensive for what they are but necessary in my application. Overall I am pleased with what I now have and am still looking forward to completing the system once the receiver arrives. The sub provides awesome home shaking bass and the center & satellite speakers are clear and plenty loud. This upgrade has me now very anxious for the receivers arrival. On a side note: The center & satellite speakers are finished in a beautiful piano black while the sub is not, it has a plain black matte finish which is not a big deal for me since it`s tucked away but I was surprised when unpacking it so I thought I`d mention it.
Pros: Good sounding speakers Easy connectivity with banana plugs (be sure to get yourself some) Currently offered on special ( I otherwise would not have purchased these)
Cons: None really
The satellite speakers deliver clear mid range sound and can handle ample power.
Pros: Overall great quality
Cons: Nine
Speakers sound great. Some of the VERY brief instructions were very confusing.
Pros: sound great
Cons: instructions confusing.
Overall, this is a great set of speakers. The quality of construction is great and aesthetically pleasing. The sound is very clear at all levels (low, mid, and high). Price is great for the the sound quality.
Pros: Excellent sound. Well made.
Cons: The wall mounting brackets are not included with the speaker system as I found out after delivery. They are a separate purchase and a very pricey.
Sound great and look nice mounted on the wall.
Pros: Great sound for a small speaker and look great
Cons: None
The construction of all the elements is of high quality and the design is attractive. The way the speakers are designed results in a very clear and precise reproduction of sound, without any kind of distortion. The power of the subwoofer is incredible and it doesn't distort the sound either, even at high volume.
Pros: Construcción, diseño y desempeño Construction, design and performance
Cons: Ninguno hasta ahora. None so far.

Recently purchased for home theater and music purposes. Speakers appear well made, Nice weight to them. Was very impressed with the sound quality - absolutely crystal clear. The lows from the subwoofer are not room shaking but sufficient and impressive for the price range.
Pros:
Cons:
Fantastic speakers. Speakers put out great quality sound. Would recommend and buy again!
Pros:
Cons: None
These speakers are great - small and not in the way and the sound is as much as we want or more. The one speaker had a broken foot and it was replaced quickly - set up was fine - took some effort as I expected - well worth it!
Pros: Just about everything - fills the room with music and is not stretching the system!
Cons: None for me.
I'm still working on levels and placement. Woofer output seems nonexistent so may have to contact Crutchfield support.
Pros:
Cons:
Excellent and awesome speakers. I'm enjoying sound.
Pros:
Cons:
I bought the "package" of speakers because it was cheaper than the individual speakers. I am glad I did. My purpose was to add the side and back speakers to my front, center and sub speakers (Martin Logan). The Definitive sub is much better than the Martin Logan. All speakers (except the cheap ones) needs several hours of break-in. These speakers sounded great from the beginning. After more than a week I can turn them up. I watched Band of Brothers. What a difference these made especially during the the Battle of the Bulge shelling. These speakers also add to the surround sound music.
Pros: The regular speakers are well made and heavy for their size. They sound good from the beginning and get better with use. I was pleasantly surprised by the subwoofer. It sounds better than the larger Martin Logan subwoofer that I have and it is easier to adjust the loudness.
Cons: The bare wire connections are the only down side. When hanging these on the wall it is impossible to use the bare wire connection. Good banana plugs are recommended. Do not buy cheap banana plugs - buy the good ones with 2 screws to secure the speaker wire. I made the mistake of buying the cheap ones from HDepo and wasted several hours trying to attach them. Went to Lowes and bought good ones - no problem. Crutchfield sells good banana plugs at the same or lower price.
Looked at several 5.1 systems before deciding to purchase this system. Set up was very easy and the sound quality is excellent.
Pros: Ease of Set up, sound quality, made in the USA
Cons: No complaints yet.
Easy to setup and delivers a very great sound for movies, music... Aesthetically very nice and the size adequate...met my expectations.
Pros:
Cons:
I've been an audiophile for a long time and I was a little skeptical about this brand, mostly because I've never had the chance to hear the quality in person. I've started documenting myself and I found the Crutchfield team and their website descriprions very helpful. I've received the shipment very quickly. I've set up this home theater with a Marantz NR1604 A/V (I have a 70 inches TV). The front satellites are 200 inches away from the aural area, the rear one are about 150 inches away. The central speaker is 155 inches away. The subwoofer about 180 inches away. Because I've gone for a 7.1 system I've also purchase separately 2 Definitive Technology ProMonitor 800 and placed them at 170 inches from the aural point. At my first test I was impressed with the quality, the crystal clear sound and the power of the whole system. I've played Lord of the Ring (Two Towers battle scenes),Batman Dark Knit Rises (the final battles chapters) and Star Trek Into Darkness , blu rays, and my face had a smile throughout the scenes. The subwoofer is amazing. I've a large tv room and I was worried the volume and sound quality to be affected but not. I would suggest this system to anyone that has a medium/large tv room (I would think most of homes between 900 to 2500 sqf, or a small/medium apartment, or open concepts living/dining rooms.
Pros: The price, the color choice, black or white. I've purchased it white because my walls and ceiling are white, they easily fade in the background.
Cons: The central speaker is not powerful enough for a room as big as mine, no matter how much I played with the receiver settings the dialogues were always a bit too low for my taste. So I ended up purchasing a ProCenter 1000 extra central speaker to run in place of the Pro600 one and, yes, I can tell the difference. It's clear, if you want louder volume you sure need larger speakers.
It was between Bose 10 acoustimass and these. I have a number of Bose products and Bose is normally where I start when seeking audio equipment. It was a tough decision and really came down to price. After finishing our basement and looking for places to cut costs this made the decision for me. I must say I cannot tell the difference in sound quality although the Definitie seem to have a little fuller sound (not over powered).
Pros: Great Sound
Cons: None at this time
wasn't even planning on buying but since I was upgrading receiver thought I'd go ahead. DIDN"T KNOW WHAT I WAS MISSING!
Pros: crisp driven sound yet rich bass
Cons: none at all
Definitive Technology's customer support is A+. Unfortionatly, I went through 3 Prosub's in a month. The amplifier built in kept going bad. Otherwise, it's a very good product and I ended up going with the Procinema 1000 surround speakers and a Klipsh 450 Subwoofer.
Pros: A+ Customer Service, Built like a rock, sounded great while it worked
Cons: Subwoofer amplifier kept going bad, replaced 3x in one month.
Set up with the Onkyo TX-NR818 receiver. These sound amazing. I had a couple friends over the other night and one of them said the room is so full of sound it's like wearing headphones. You can feel the movie. I'm hearing things in music that I've never heard before.
Pros: Small. Easy to set up. Amazing sound.
Cons: NOTHING!!!
Great speaker system. I have a medium sized room and the sound is just amazing for both music and movies. Have the speakers paired with an Onkyo TX-NR515 receiver. the bass response is outstanding.
Pros: Great bass, amazing movie and music reproduction.
Cons: Could not hook them up according to the preferred method in the instructions. Went with the second method and would like to know why the other method did not work. However I have no complaint concerning the speakers.
I was looking for the cinema system, but was not sure what to get, after a long research i came across with the definitive pro600 system, it was under my budget, i saw some really good reviews from the people and visited the website for the specs, it was wonderfull specially i was looking for the subwoofer which can reach atleast 25hz and pro 600 sub go down to 22hz, at the local shop i had th demostration, and i love the sound, i got it with denon 1713 AVR. after the setup and audessy callibration i was not geting the sound i was expecting, did many settings alongwith the different crossovers but didnt work. i was about to return the system, but once again i follwed some guide lines from the internet and did the audessy setting for 6 different location in my lounge after the setup i was so amazed that what this system is capable of, i had a big smile on my face because my ear are very use to what kind of sound i want. i tried the war of the world2 the first attack with the thunder storm, the sound was unbeleivable the bass was so deep and it was only shacking my sofas and i could not even hear it or tell where its coming from. the marrige between the speakers and sub was amazing, the center channel also gives a powerfull sound and vocal is extremely clear, i listen many type of music and the defination on DD and DTS is outstanding, the auddesey have done a great job, and after the setup you can set the speakers level as per your choice.
Pros: best speakers what i was expecting the best frequency level, beautifully designed. amazing bass from the sub.
Cons: need really speacial setup to get the best sound but it does .
Its nice when you know you bought a product that is worth what you paid for it. I knew I wasnt getting the moon and the stars, but just a really nice setup for my new theater. Really happy with the results.
Pros: small design doesnt crowd the room clean sound
Cons: one came with a broken post (but Crutchfield is replaceing.
Bought these and being powered by a Yamaha 720. Nice looking speakers with plenty of setup options. Sound great for my living room and 5.1 system. Happy with the highs, lows, all around solid purchase.
Pros: Good Sound Quality, Highs, Lows, Vocals
Cons: none so far
very good sound with both movies and audio. would definitely buy again. would definitely recommend.
Pros: cost, sound, look
Cons: the only thing is that you have to buy mounts seperately.....so if you want mounts for everything add $120 to the cost of the speakers.
Purchased in March 2011, bought based on reviews from other customers. Powering with Denon AVR2311CI, sounds good for movies to about medium vol, then the sub seems to distort...sub box is low quality, seems to be made of 1/4 inch MDF at best. I was worried about the quality the minute I took the sub out of the box...not heavy enough to be for real. Not impressed listening to music with this either, yes it does sound good until I crank up the volume. My neighbor spent less than half this price on a Boston system and sounds better with music. I will move this to my basement as soon as I can afford to get somthing else. Def Tech is OK, just think this system is worth $400 at the most.
Pros: nothing
Cons: Way overpriced
The speakers represent a great value in high quality home theater speakers. I am glad I bought them. One could pay a lot more and not get better fidelity.
Pros: Superb sound, small footprint, easy placement.
Cons: What's not to love?
Sounds good so far I purchased them on 07/01/2011 and I recieved them On 07/06/2011. I have them hooked up to my Yamaha 671 that I also purchased from Crutchfield on 06/04/2011 I'm now In the process of ordering the Pro 800 For my extra back surround sound.. I also want to thank Hunter at Crutchfield for all his advise and help on turning my frontroom into the perfect movie theater.......... Thanks Hunter will be talking to you soon :)

Cons:
Bought this for a friend. I own Definitive's powered sub towers and center channel and love them so I figured this would be great for his small home theater. The sub has amazing output. The satellites could use more upper bass/low midrange (like from 100-300Hz), but otherwise sound crystal clear. I guess the next step up (with the 4 1/2" woofers) might help some of that. Still, overall a great system and he is VERY happy with it.
Pros:
Cons:
Bought the acoustimass 5 for my sister. I didnt like the sound for $400. So her and the hubby kicked in another $400. She had limited space so after some research this was my choise. $200 less than the Bose 10 and more vercatile in my opinion. Gave her my dennon 391 a good reiciever i bought 2311ci for myself. The bass this sub puts out is crazy. Its in the corner next to the couch couldn't fit near tv. Room size 19x16. System sounds great. Multi channel stereo sounds nice and crisp. Need some more time with this system but a real quality buy. The 200 i saved not buying the bose also got her the panamax M4300 with a discount for some protection.
Pros:
Cons:
Very good sounding speakers. Full sound. I went with hookup option 1 with the optional LPF set up. Sounds amazing. Powering it with a Onkyo TX-NR708, it seems to be a great match and have expandability by purchasing additional Satellite Speakers or second subwoofer. VERY HAPPY
Pros:
Cons:
Bought this ProCinema 600 as a gift for my dad. WOW! It has ressurrected his 10 yr old Sony receiver. Nice clean sound and very good bass. I have always had a Velodyne sub system, so I was not expecting this smaller set-up to produce the sounds that it did! Very happy and impressed!
Pros:
Cons:
These speakers are very small which is the reason I original purchased them. I currently have larger surround speakers and decided to step to a smaller form factor decrease my speaker footprint. They do a much better job at reproducing sound than any type of Mirage speaker that I tried previously. They are still not as good as a larger speaker, but if you are looking for something small and need to stay within a limited budget, I would highly recommend this set, especially over a Mirage speaker.

System Overview
4 Matching Satellite Speakers
Center Channel Speaker
Powered Subwoofer
5.1 Channel Speaker System: The Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 Home Theater Speaker System is designed to deliver equally superb sound with music or movies. The ProCinema 600 provides clear, high-definition sound from tiny, easy to place satellite speakers which can be shelf or wall mounted. The ProCinema 600 Home Theater Speaker System includes 4 matching satellite speakers, 1 center channel speaker, and a powered subwoofer.
Pressure Coupled Radiator Design: The ProCinema 600 satellite speakers and center-channel provide clear, high-definition sound by pressure-coupling Definitive's exclusive BDSS technology drivers to equal-sized mid/bass radiators cleverly placed on the outside of the cabinet. This technique doubles the lower-midrange radiating area of the speaker without increasing the size of the enclosure. The result is a warm and life-like sound.
BDSS Technology: Definitive Technology's Balanced Double Surround System (BDSS) driver offers a wide-bandwidth accurate frequency response, broad dispersion, low distortion, and detail retrieval; so you hear more the music with greater accuracy and enjoyment. BDSS drivers incorporate the following design features.
Available Colors: The Definitive Technology ProCinema 600 is available in a high-gloss black or white finish.
Break-In Period: The ProCinema Home Theater Speaker will sound good right out of the box; however, an extended break-in period of 20-40 hours or more of playing is required to reach full performance capability. The break-in period allows the suspensions to work in and results in full bass, a more open midrange, and smoother high frequency reproduction.
Matching Satellite Speakers: The Definitive Technology ProMonitor 600 matching satellite loudspeaker utilize state-of-the-art components (BDSS drivers coupled with a pressure-driven planar low-frequency radiators, pure aluminum dome tweeters, uniphase crossover networks, and non-resonant PolyStone cabinets with low diffraction construction) in order to achieve the most lifelike sound possible in your listening room. The ProMonitor 600 satellite loudspeakers provide the front and rear speaker channels for your home theater system.
Drivers: The Definitive Technology ProMonitor 600 satellite speakers feature a 3-1/4" BDSS driver coupled to a 3-1/4" pressure-driven planar low-frequency radiator, and a 1" pure aluminum dome tweeter.
Non-Resonant PolyStone Cabinet: The Definitive Technology ProMonitor 600 satellite speakers use a non-resonant PolyStone cabinet with low diffraction construction.
Connections: The ProMonitor 600 satellite speakers are equipped with a pair of gold-plated, 5-way binding posts to attach your receiver's speaker wire.
Mounting: The Definitive Technology ProMonitor 600 loudspeakers may be placed on a stand or shelf, or mounted on the wall or ceiling. The ProMonitor 600features a pedestal foot which allows it to fit securely and safely on a stand or shelf. The attached pedestal foot can be removed to mount the speaker to Definitive Technology's matching speaker stand (ProStand, sold separately) or to wall-mount the speaker. The ProMonitor 600can be wall-mounted using the rear-panel keyhole slot. In addition, there is a 1/4"-20 threaded insert on the back of the speaker so you can use Definitive Technology's optional mounting bracket (ProMount 80, sold separately), or other manufacture bracket (sold separately) to hang the speaker on a wall or ceiling.
Note: There is a insert plug included which covers the hole in the bottom of the speaker which you will see after you remove the pedestal foot when wall-mounting the speaker.
Placement: When used as front speakers, the ProMonitor 600s should usually be placed 6 to 8 feet apart and kept away from the side walls and corners. When used as rear speakers, take care never to locate the speakers forward of the listeners. The ProMonitor 600s may be angled in towards the listening position or left parallel with the rear wall according to your personal listening taste. Normally, angling the speakers in so that they point directly at the listeners will result in more detail and greater clarity.
Center Channel: The Definitive Technology ProCenter 600 video-shielded center-channel speaker utilizes state-of-the-art components (BDSS driver coupled with a pressure-driven planar low-frequency radiator, a pure aluminum dome tweeter, a uniphase crossover network, and a non-resonant PolyStone cabinet with low diffraction construction) in order to achieve the most lifelike sound possible in your listening room. As much as 75% of a movie's soundtrack is played by the center-channel loudspeaker making it arguably the most important speaker in a home theater system. The ProCenter 600 loudspeaker is ideal for use as a center-channel speaker in conjunction with Dolby Surround Sound Pro-Logic and Dolby Digital decoding.
Drivers: The Definitive Technology ProCenter 600 features two 3-1/4" BDSS driver coupled to two side-firing 3-1/4" pressure-driven planar low-frequency radiators, and a 1" pure aluminum dome tweeter.
Non-Resonant PolyStone Cabinet: The Definitive Technology ProCenter 600 uses a non-resonant PolyStone cabinet with low diffraction construction. The speaker cabinet is available in a high-gloss black or white finish. The speaker's cabinet features a removable cloth grille.
Connections: The ProCenter 600 is equipped with a pair of gold-plated, 5-way binding posts to attach your receiver's speaker wire.
Mounting: The Definitive Technology ProCenter 600 can be mounted on a stand or shelf; or even wall-mounted. The ProCenter 600 has two threaded inserts (1/4"-20) on the back, which can be used with a pair of optional Definitive Technology ProMount brackets (735PMT80, sold separately) or other manufacture wall-mount bracket (sold separately) to mount the ProCenter 600 on the wall.
Placement: The Definitive Technology ProCenter 600 can be placed above or below your television.
Angle Adjustment: The ProCenter 600 loudspeaker has a simple built-in device which allows you to adjust the vertical angle of the speaker. There is an adjustable rubber-foot on the bottom-rear of the speaker cabinet. when you set the center-channel speaker down, the speaker will lean back and rest on this foot. By varying how far you screw in-and-out the foot, you can adjust the vertical angle of the speaker. It is recommended that you aim the center-speaker so that it aims directly towards the height of the listeners' ears.
Powered Subwoofer: The Definitive Technology ProSub 600 is an advanced state-of-the-art technology powered subwoofer with a built-in high-power, high-current amplifier and sophisticated electronic crossover, in combination with an active front-firing 8-inch high excursion woofer and 8-inch bottom-mounted passive radiator for massive bass with superior speed, control, and detail. The Definitive Technology ProSub 600 is a compact, high quality, powered subwoofer that can be used in your home theater or music speaker system.
Passive Radiator Design: The ProSub 600 features a 250-watt (RMS) amplifier driving a high-excursion 8-inch front-mounted direct-radiating woofer that is pressure-coupled to an 8-inch low-bass passive radiator on the bottom of the enclosure. The net radiating area of the ProSub 600 is 27% greater than a single 10 inch woofer but with better speed, pitch definition, and control.
PowerField Technology Amplifier: The ProSub 600 incorporates Definitive's proprietary PowerField technology, by which the amplifier is specifically engineered in conjunction with the driver for optimum load matching and power transfer characteristics. The Definitive ProSub 600 powered subwoofer incorporates a unique, patented, digitally-coupled infinite power source amplifier with a high-current direct coupled power supply and discrete MOSFET output devices to ensure perfect high-definition resolution and reproduction of the most dynamic program material and demanding sub-bass transients. Construction quality is absolutely state-of-the-art, with only the highest quality components used including mil-spec glass epoxy circuit boards and precision resistors and capacitors for many years of faultless superior performance.
High-Definition Subwoofer: The powerful, high-definition 8" polymer subwoofer driver is specifically engineered by Definitive Technology to deliver rock-solid low distortion bass, reaching down to the lowest subsonic frequencies (22-150Hz), with superior transient response. The special ultra-stiff, low-mass cone (for super-fast transient response) is joined to a specially formulated surround and long-throw voice coil and spider. The ultra-rigid basket is engineered to hold the woofer's massive magnet structure and large voice coil in absolute alignment. The high temperature voice coil is made of aluminum wound with triple insulated ultra-pure copper wire and baked in epoxy for increased power handling.
Non-Resonant Cabinet: The cabinet of a loudspeaker plays a large part in its sonic performance. Resonance and vibration can add unwanted distortion as well as drain away important energy from the system. The Definitive Technology ProSub 600 powered subwoofers utilizes a monocoque cabinet, which has been specifically engineered to be totally inert and vibration free, to ensure you of pure sonic reproduction. Monocoque means that the cabinet is of a unitized construction where all panels are permanently joined together into one solid structure. The cabinet walls themselves are high-density medite fused together by space-age polymer adhesives. The front and rear baffles are extra thick and the cabinet, itself, incorporates multiple internal braces to ensure total solidity.
Controls: A complete array of controls allows the ProSub 600 to be perfectly integrated with any stereo or multi-channel audio system, and tuned for optimum performance in any room.
Connections: The Definitive Technology ProSub 600 powered subwoofer has a complete range of inputs and outputs to allow easy and effective hookup to any system. The ProSub 600 has a separate direct-in LFE low-level input (which bypasses the crossover network). Speaker level inputs are provided in case you do not have a subwoofer output.
Auto Turn-On Circuit: The powered subwoofer has a special power circuit which automatically turns the powered subwoofer on when a signal is fed to the loudspeaker and turns it off when there is no signal present, so it does not require an on-off switch.
LED Indicator: The red LED on the back panel of the powered subwoofer will light up when a signal is sensed and the amplifier turns on. It will automatically turn off with the powered subwoofer, a little while after the signal is discontinued.
Protection Circuits: The Definitive Technology ProSub 600 features two protection circuits that ensure that the subwoofer can never be overdriven.
Integrated/Adjustable Feet: The ProSub 600 features four integrated feet with rubber tips so you can place it securely and safely on your home's floor. Each foot's height is adjustable to help you place the powered sub on an uneven surface.
Placement: The Definitive Technology powered subwoofer has been designed to operate at frequencies generally below 150 Hz. Because low-frequency information in this range essentially is non-directional, your subwoofer can be located anywhere in your listening room that is mot convenient. Also the continuously variable low-pass filter operate at a very fast roll-off, ensuring great performance wherever you place the subwoofer. There are, however, some general rules that you should bear in mind when locating the powered sub.

18 year old Polk surround sub woofer starting to go bad. was going to replace with a new sub woofer, but the associate i was talking to led me to this system that would be better and would save me money than buying a new sub. [ larry Mar 28, 2018 ]
Reviews, recommendation of my brother. [ Richard Feb 03, 2018 ]
Good reviews and a reasonable alternative to a larger speaker system for a small family room. I had a chance to demo these speakers. Since these speakers were on sale, and while not the best surround sound system compared to large tower and center speaker arrangements, they are a great value and a great sound quality at this price point. Additionally, it's hard to match Crutchfield's customer service. [ Saul Dec 30, 2017 ]

As my first foray into Home Theater speakers, after research these are highly rated, and seem like to best value. Like the aluminum tweeters. Would have preferred a down firing sub woofer, but Hell, I have never had a subwoofer before... Concerned by review that blasted the auto off on the sub woofer, but hope that was a single bad experience. Anytime you offer a $800 set of for $300 off, you have my attention. Hi I would say Good But when I listened to these vs the 800's I felt a significant difference in favor of the 800 series. I went with the 600 because I was replacing a older Bose system and wanted to stay with the smaller speakers, and was concerned about my neighbors being disturbed. Apartment living. If you have the space I'd go with the 800 series. [ ROBERT Jan 31, 2018 ]

Yes it does and it works very well. [ OTTOWAI R Aug 06, 2017 ]
Yes. 4k doesn't differ from standard HD when it comes to sound so any reciever that supports audio over HDMI will work. I have mine connected to a Onkyo TX-NR737 (4K ready) receiver and the speakers sound beautiful. [ Jeffrey Aug 06, 2017 ]
Yes, this is independent of the TV. No TV required to use this speaker system, only a amplifier/receiver. [ Nicholas Aug 06, 2017 ]
Speakers have no bearing on 4K. Your TV, receiver and source dictate whether or not you can watch 4K on your system . [ AUDIOLAB STEREO Aug 06, 2017 ]
The AV Receiver is what you need to confirm works with 4K video and supports 5.1 Surround...if it does then you should not have an issue [ Geoffrey Aug 06, 2017 ]
Hello! If you choose to go with wireless speakers, they will require a power supply of some kind (batt. or a/c). I opted for the definitve technology speakers n sub with the Dannon and could not be happier. Easy set, superior sound in a pretty large room w/open floor plan. I would def recommend. [ Kristopher Oct 25, 2016 ]
When it comes to home theaters or audio equipment I am not an expert. I purchased these same speakers quite some time ago. My set up (5.1) consists of: left and right front speakers, a center speaker, sub woofer and two surrounds. The speakers are connected via speaker wire to my AVR. The only speaker that needs power is the sub woofer, which plugs into an electrical outlet. By the way I am quite satisfied with these speakers. The manual included will better explain the set up for you. [ Peter Oct 21, 2016 ]
YEs you can mine onkyo 150 w sounds grate [ GARY Jul 20, 2016 ]
I am considered "technology challenged" by my kids. I would hate to give you bad advice but people at Crutchfield know their stuff and would be a better source of information. Sorry! Good luck! [ ROBERT Jul 19, 2016 ]

Don't forget that code and insurance companies may require that speaker wires run inside walls be rated for in-wall applications. The voltage and amperage for speakers is low and unlikely to cause an issue but best to find out what is required by code. [ PHILIP Jan 07, 2016 ]
I run 12 gauge Monster speaker wire to everything, but the sub. The sub has a dedicated monster speaker cable. Don't waste your time with banana clips for the connections; bare wire to the speaker terminals works fine. A little tricky to get them in the connection hole, but you only need to do it once. [ MICHAEL Feb 02, 2015 ]
I used 14 gauge speaker wire with banana plugs. [ Michael Feb 01, 2015 ]
Use #14 wire unless it is a very large room (such as a meeting hall) then get #12. For most homes get #14 wire. Measure how far from the receiver to each speaker so that you know the length needed when you buy a spool. Don't buy the cheap banana speaker plugs I bought the kind with 2 screws on the side of each plug. The wire has a copper sire color and a white or grayish color. I put the copper with the red plug and the other with the white plug. You may also need a good wire stripper. [ Thomas Feb 01, 2015 ]
I used CE TECH 14-Gauge Stranded Speaker-Wire. [ Yousif Feb 01, 2015 ]
Best way to answer depends on how far you are running the speaker wire. 14 gauge would be my recommendation without knowing specifics. It is more expensive but worth it. Terminating the wire with pins or banana plugs is important as well. In the end, buying the best quality wire (based on reviews, not price) that you can afford will benefit your overall experience. [ Kevin Jan 31, 2015 ]
I used Monster XP wire with Monster QuickLock banana connectors (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_119QLGMTH2/Monster-QuickLock-Self-Crimping-Banana-Connectors.html?tp=1715). So far it is working great! I definitely recommend using connectors. [ Nathan Jan 31, 2015 ]

The satellite speakers are all the same as far as so can tell. I'm very pleased with the speakers. [ JESSE T Jan 16, 2015 ]
All four are the same, I really like my speakers, glad I purchased them, my sub was bad out of the box but they shipped me a new one quickly and I've had no other issues [ TODD R Jan 16, 2015 ]
The four small front and back speakers are the same size. I love my speakers. So much quality sound out of such a small speaker. [ SHARI Jan 16, 2015 ]
They are the same [ Tim Jan 16, 2015 ]
The speakers are exactly the same as far as range and sound. For example, if I'm playing music is stereo mode and in the exact center of the listening zone the music is rich and enveloping. For movies of course, the rear speakers pick up different background sounds of the presentation and enhance the overall effects. I've had the speakers over a year and couldn't be happier. I was actually thinking about purchasing two more as my receiver will support 7:1 playback but my wife may disagree with that. [ CHARLES Jan 16, 2015 ]

I recently purchased the 600 series and installed the system in a large, open family room with 12 foot ceilings in Florida. The speakers fill the room easily with great clarity. The surround sound adds depth to movies. They combine well with the Denon receiver. [ PHILIP Jan 07, 2016 ]
Yes, I think it would be undersized for a large high ceilinged room. [ SCOTT Aug 11, 2014 ]
My system is in a large open plan living area and there is plenty of sound and then some. My ceilings are 9 ft. tall, but these speakers really pump out the sound. I love them! [ SHARI Aug 08, 2014 ]
Probably. Ours is installed in a modest room with a flat ceiling 12 ft high. [ JEFFREY Aug 07, 2014 ]
These speakers should be plenty for your living space. I currently have the same set in my great room, which has a 24' ceiling, and is connected to an open dining area, and kitchen/breakfast area. I power my speakers with the Denon AVR2313CI home theater receiver, and I added two Definitive Promonitor 800 satellite speakers to complete the 7.1 channels. From listening to all genres of music, to watching movies, I'm very pleased with the sound from these speakers. Hope this helps! [ Michelle Aug 07, 2014 ]
I think this system would work just fine. It is amazing how much sound it generates. [ NICK Aug 07, 2014 ]
This may be tough to answer as this is the first Home Theater speaker system I've ever owned, so I don't have much to compare it to. Further, I have a pretty small living room that's somewhat open but with only 8' ceilings and numerous doorways coming in & out of the room. Having said all of that, I think the system sounds great and we did supplement it with 2 ceiling-mount polk audio speakers so that we could have full 7.1 sound for movies. [ SEAN Aug 05, 2014 ]
Not in the least. I have an onkyo 515 pushing them and my room is approx 12×14 with vaulted ceilings and I have not had occasion to even push past a quarter of max volume and the sound is amazing. [ CHARLES Aug 04, 2014 ]
I was amazed at the sound this little system put out when I got it hooked up for the first time. We have a smaller living room & that's why we went with the smaller Definitive system. With that in mind, I don't think this system would have any problems filling a larger room full of sound. That all depends on how much sound you like. It puts out plenty of bass for me in are smaller living room. The Definitive sub's put out a lot of bass! I was shocked when I started listening to it. [ ALEX J Aug 04, 2014 ]
I don't think so but I'm afraid I couldn't tell you definitively because, in my case, they are set up in a relatively small room. I would ask a Crutchfield advisor. [ JESSE T Aug 04, 2014 ]
I will tell you this I am no expert but I am the "tech go to" person for my family and friends I guess because I'm a systems engineer. I purchased the 600 for my 20x20 8 ft ceilings family room and something was missing. In the end the perfect combination for me was altering the Procinema 600 by replacing the front left and right with promonitor 800s and the center with the 1000. I absolutely love these speakers but if I was you I would go with the Procinema 1000 by the sound of your setup. I have setup a lot 800s for friends with a mini A frame in the living room but it was a smaller space and sounded fantastic. I hope this helps. [ Daniel Aug 04, 2014 ]
I don't think so. I' use this in my family room, which opens up to my kitchen and I can't turn it past 50% it would be too loud. [ Gregg Aug 04, 2014 ]
I returned the 600's. I thought they didn't have the mid bass I hoped for. But I ordered the 800's while on the phone with customer service. I love the 800's and they have the mid bass. These are awesome speakers, I hear things in music that I never noticed from my old speakers. [ Robert Aug 04, 2014 ]
My L/C/R Satellites are wired directly to my amp and seem to perform just fine. Though I admit that my set-up prevents "ideal" distance between these speakers... But they work just fine/sound great/kick out some serious jams. Hope that's helpful. [ William Dec 01, 2015 ]
