Definitive Technology SuperCube 2000
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
Great Sound. Works well with Yamaha 5600.
From Definitive Technology: Bass Radiator
If you want high-impact bass excitement without sacrificing a large amount of floor space, then this is the subwoofer for you. Built on the success of Definitive's SuperCube series, the new SuperCube 2000 provides huge bass performance in a compact, room-friendly enclosure that measures less than a cubic foot. The secret to its success is an active woofer/passive radiator combination that produces big sound despite the cabinet's small size. And it's powered by a built-in 650-watt amplifier that really shows off this little sub's tight, accurate bass response.
The SuperCube 2000 contains a 7-1/2" woofer pressure-coupled to two 7-1/2" passive radiators. This driver array gives the SuperCube 2000 the advantage of far greater speed and control than any large single-woofer sub could achieve. It's sure to please both movie and music lovers with its ability to produce explosive effects for Hollywood blockbusters, as well as precise, musical bass for all kinds of music.
The specially engineered, non-resonant cabinet uses multiple internal bracings to make sure that you hear clean bass without sound-muddying vibrations. And its single LFE input makes setup with multichannel home theater receivers quick and easy.

Great Sound. Works well with Yamaha 5600.
Great bass response for what seemed like such a small subwoofer. Packs a great punch and even hits low bass.
I was surprised by the amount of bass this little woofer produces. It has plenty of strong bass for my system and taste. Size is also a plus and price is competitive. The unit seems to be well built and it looks and sounds awesome.
Pros: sound, size, price
My wife gave me a small area to put a sub in the audio cabinet. I was worried, but this sub delivered big time.
When I received the subwoofer (via UPS) I was a little skeptical because even though I wanted a small footprint this thing was REALLY small. However, I thought that since my Denon receiver has two subwoofer inputs I would try it and if it didn't have enough power (humph) I could always get another. No need!!! I mainly use my system to "properly" enjoy movies and this unit delivers. I am now watching old war movies from my collection because I realized I never really heard it correctly with my old Bose system. I combined this unit with 4 Definitive Technologies ProMonitor 1000, and 1 ProCenter 1000. I am very happy with this purchase!
Pros: Solid bass sound in a small package.
Cons: None yet!
First subwoofer, should have added this unit sooner! The SuperCube 2000 sounds great.
Pros: Compact size and great sound.
Small footprint, but big sound. This is a very nice complement to the two DT BP-9080's.
Pros: Small, hits the low frequencies that it needs to.
This is an excellent sub for a system that demands the best performance from a receiver or a pre pro with a seperate amp too. I'm glad I got 2 of these cubes now because the adding of another sub made my system sound better than ever. A winner indeed.
Pros: An excellent performer at a good price. I've got 2 of these subs and they work well together producing cataclysmic sound n my system. My receiver doesn't have discrete subwoofer outputs and they sound great even with a parallel hookup.
I searched a long time trying to find the right subwoofer to add to my new home theater set-up. Having recently purchased Def Tec front and center channel speakers (which I love) I naturally looked carefully at the same brand, but I had 2 requirements: it had to fit in the space I set aside for it and it had to be under $500. I looked at a lot of other brands, then the SuperCube happened to go on sale and I knew that was the one. I am thrilled with it. It's more powerful than I needed, but that's better than not powerful enough. The sound is tight and accurate and is as great for music as it is for movies. Excellent piece of equipment, compact in size, and design and build are top notch. Couldn't be happier.
Pros: powerful, accurate sound, compact size, unobtrusive, beautiful design
Cons: Not a problem for me, but if you're looking for a sub with speaker level input/output you'll have to look at something else. This unit only has an LFO input.
Awesome little sub.. added as a second sub because of its size. Don't let the size fool you , this packs a punch.
Pros: Size, power
Fantastic bass. This little guy is about half the size of my last Def Tech sub that got damaged in a move. Half the size, all the bass. No regrets.
Spent an extra $100 for this upgraded sub for the pro cinema 1000 system that I just bought. I think it was a wise choice. There is a clarity along with the BOOM that I would expect to get from higher priced subs. It's also smaller and nicer looking than must subs.
Pros: nice style, small size, newer technology
Cons: None for my uses and room size
Easy to set up. Great bass.
This little box packs a lot of punch. It rocks my family room!
I replaced a Bose system and this much smaller footprint does twice what the Bose subwoofer did.
Pros: Smaller that most subs and Crutch field is now very price competitive, especially with Amazon and Amazon has to charge state tax in TN
Cons: none so far!!
Excellent product and best customer service
This is an update of my August review. Unfortunately my SC 2000 stopped working. Just plain stopped. No apparent reason. But The Good News Is Crutchfield Customer Support: I called them on Wednesday morning, immediately received an authorization to return my subwoofer, and was emailed a prepaid UPS label. I dropped off the package at my nearby UPS store at 2:00pm Wednesday, And My New SC 2000 Was Delivered Friday At 9:58am. Now that is super service cubed (sorry, I couldn't resist it). Hats off to both Crutchfield and UPS.
This is a small powerhouse. Easy to "hide" along your front wall. Fills your room with base without any boom.
Pros: Small, powerful, good looking (when visible).
Originally I was going to go with the Definitive Technology ProSub 1000, but I noticed the Definitive Technology SuperCube 2000 was on sale for the same price and I decided to upgrade. The SuperCube 2000 sounds amazing. I have yet to go past half volume to prevent upsetting my apartment neighbors. Whether you are watching a movie, listening to music, or playing a video game, this subwoofer produces a rich deep bass that you will feel and enjoy.
Pros: Big sound, Small and compact, Looks great!
I replaced a very old infinity BU-1 that had only 50W of power. I guess I was expecting a huge increase but I can't say the difference was overwhelming. It is a very large room and the Supercube 2000 is one of their smaller units but I thought the power upgrade would be the difference. I really only watch movies on the system and the bass sounds good I just thought there would be more.
Pros: Looks great and does not take up much room
Good looking clean modern design. Average performance. Paired with Mythos sound bar for Pioneer Elite display in bedroom. Adds the low end missing with the sound bar. Too costly.
Pros: Size & appearance
Cons: High Cost & Marginal Output
I needed a low end to our system but needed to please my wife by not having it visible or break the bank. This unit adds a nice low tone and when we turn it up for dance parties it hangs in there beat for beat...
Pros: Big sound in a small cube
Cons: can't adjust band width
Fantastic, rich, deep base. If you like sci-fi movies or playing shooting games (battle field in my case) you are going to really enjoy the feel & sound from this subwoofer
Pros: Deep, rich sound that you can feel as much as hear it
Cons: none so far
I was a bit skeptical about the Sub, as it is kind of small. After I properly hooked up the unit, it produces a decent quality base sound. Amazing.
I have 2 subs in my current 11.2 arrangement. All of my speakers except for the 2 height front are in-wall definitive tech. I have been impressed with the performance from the DT company and was reading about the super cube. I wanted to add a 3rd sub to fill the range gap. I currently have a 15" running on a 1600rms ashley amp and, a cerwin vega 12" self amp. Wasn't sure if the supercube was going to add to the experience. It does! I plugged it in and at 50% volume the cube could have stood alone with out the other 2 subs. It won't shake the couch like the 15" but it is a very clear and noticeable bass. Fills mid, mid lows, and audible range extremely well. Definitively out performs my 12" and the size is a big bonus. Terrible movie but to configure a bass filled system try out "Pacific Rim." I would recommend the cube even if you are thinking about a solo sub.
Pros: Small Size, efficient input and knob (no extras cause you don't need them, and keeps it simple if you don't know what you are doing), has 2 sets of feet for the speaker carpet cleats and adjustable flats, 650 watt,
Cons: Price, top cover could be mounted tighter, doesn't seem to benefit from corner placement
Originally, I was enquiring about the Definitive Technology Pro Sub 1000 but Shane, the Crutchfield sales rep., convinced me to try the Super Cube 2000. I was a bit skeptical at first but decided to try it. I have waited two months in order to observe its performance before giving this review. Now, I am considering whether to purchase another since it has exceeded my expectations. I read an adverse review, here, and wonder what the reviewer was really talking about.
Pros: Great performer!
Good bass and the compact size of it is very nice. It can be set just about everywhere and not look bulky. I'm sure there's much better out there but this unit works great for my needs.
Pros: Compact size Good bass Easy install
calibrated using Startrek motion picture. Wow, what a sound! Sounds like sitting in an IMAX theatre.
so i decided to experiment with this new technology for bass, thought maybe bigger isnt always better these days. I was disappointed..... i got more bass from my front speakers than from the super small "bass" box... I love definitive technologies speakers, but this little box just doesnt put out enough for my needs... There's always the chance i recieved a bad unit, and an even slimmer chance i installed incorrectly, but i felt the woofer cut-out at higher volumes when testing the sub with some bass music, several times... i moved on to a 12" polk sub box at the same price, and my conclusion is: BIGGER IS BETTER....
Pros: small, VERY nice looking.
Cons: DOESNT PERFORM. at least not for my needs... i like to FEEL the music and the movie action scenes, not just hear it

Definitive Technology SuperCube Powered Sub: The Definitive Technology SuperCube 2000 is a compact, high-quality powered subwoofer intended for use in a music or home theater system. The SuperCube 2000 powered subwoofer allows for easy, seamless integration into almost any two-channel or multichannel speaker system; delivering true, accurate, and extremely deep bass in any room. The SuperCube 2000 is finished in a piano-gloss black lacquer finish with a black non-removable cloth grille.
650 Watt Class D Amplifier: The SuperCube 2000 is powered by a 650-watt (RMS) class D amplifier. The result is high-definition bass performance extending effortlessly down to 20 Hz.
Passive Radiator Design: The SuperCube 2000 features a 7.5" high-definition long-throw woofer pressure coupled to two side-firing 7.5" Ultra Low Bass Radiators. The total piston area is greater than a 12-inch diameter woofer but with far greater speed, musicality, and control than a single large diameter woofer could deliver.
Non-Resonant Cabinet: The cabinet of a loudspeaker plays a large part in its sonic performance. Resonance and vibration can add unwanted distortion as well as drain away important energy from the system. The Definitive Technology SuperCube 3000 powered subwoofer utilizes a wood-composite cabinet with internal bracing, that has been specifically engineered to be totally inert and vibration free, to ensure you of pure sonic reproduction.
Ultra-Compact Design: The SuperCube 2000 measures only 10.25" (w) x 10.8125" (h) x 12.625" (d), and weighs only 25 lbs. Measurements include rubber-feet and cables.
Interchangeable Feet: The SuperCube 2000 comes with 4 rubber-feet and 4 spiked-feet for safe and secure placement of the powered subwoofer on your carpet or hardwood floors. The spiked feet add 0.125" of height to the powered subwoofer.
Placement: There are some general guidelines that you should use when locating the powered subwoofer.
Protection Circuit: To prevent accidental damage to the subwoofer from overdriving the system, the SuperCube 2000 features an internal overload protection circuit, which will turn the subwoofer off or down when overdriven or overheated and will then resume normal operation after a few minutes.
Subwoofer Level: The Definitive Technology SuperCube 2000 features a rear-mounted volume control. This control is used to raise or lower the output level of the subwoofer in relation to the other speaker in your system.
Auto Turn-On Circuit: The powered subwoofer has a special power circuit which automatically turns the powered subwoofer on when a signal is fed to the loudspeaker and turns it off when there is no signal present, so it does not require an on-off switch.
Note: You may hear a pop from the speaker when the amp powers up or powers down; this is normal.
LED Indicator: The red LED on the back panel of the powered subwoofer will light up when a signal is sensed and the amplifier turns on. It will automatically turn off with the powered subwoofer, a little while after the signal is discontinued.
LFE Subwoofer Input: The Definitive Technology SuperCube 2000 is equipped with a LFE mono-Subwoofer RCA input. Simply connect the powered subwoofer to your A/V receiver's LFE mono-Subwoofer RCA output via a mono-Subwoofer cable. Because the SuperCube 2000 is only equipped with an LFE input, it does not feature a built-in crossover control. You will use the subwoofer output crossover in your A/V receiver to set the low-pass crossover frequency for the SuperCube 2000.
Note: The SuperCube 2000 does not feature stereo RCA inputs/outputs or speaker-level inputs/outputs.
Detachable AC Power Cord: The SuperCube 2000 includes a detachable 7' AC power cord. The SuperCube 2000 must be plugged into a 120V, 60Hz electrical socket (use an unswitched outlet if possible).

Hard hitting bass is the back bone for a very entertaining home theater system, this is the one. Def Tech [ Carlton Jan 26, 2016 ]
I guess you'd have to ask the engineers at def tech, they have to add something to the more expensive units. But if you want control over crossover (at the subwoofer) you'd have to go with the 4000,6000,or 8,000 series. All of which have push button frequency adjustments and a hand held remote. (do you need more remotes?) But seriously I own a supercube 2000 and its more than adequate in the power department and I like the rotary dial for the volume. I believe the crossover is set at 200hz, not some thing I ever felt the need to adjust, although I do have adjustment of subwoofer low pass in my yamaha rx-a 2040 amp. I'm happy with the supercube 2000, it sounds excellent in my house. [ B Oct 03, 2015 ]
