This wireless adapter really works!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was very skeptical about replacing my sub woofer cable with a wireless device because frequency range is very important to me. But I spoke to two people that are using it and they confirmed that the signal is proprietary and un-compressed, so I decided to give it a shot. This adapter is truly plug and play. It took me less than minute to connect and synch. And I cannot discern any difference in sound whatsoever. This SCW-100 is the real deal.

Pros: Quick and easy to install. Allows free movement of the subwoofer to any location close to a power outlet. The sound is every bit as good as that experienced with a quality cable connection (you should still use a very good cable from your receiver to the adapter).

Cons: Honestly, I have not experienced any negative aspects to this installation. It just works.

I would not recommend

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

At first it worked for a few weeks then it starting up. It keeps losing connectivity, once you turn on anything wireless connectivity never restores. I have to unplug and plug back in. Very annoying, I dont know what I was thinking not reading the reviews. I will be contacting Crutchfield to see if I could get it replaced.

Pros: It wireless

Cons: Doesn't work after a certain time

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I was nervous about going wireless. I thought the bass might lag or the signal wouldn't work. I gave this option and try and paired it with the SC 4000. This kit works and it works great. UPDATED 7/2/13: After my initial review, I went through 3 different replacement. Each set worked for roughly 2-3 weeks before losing connection with each other. The last replacement I did a little troubleshooting. I found the transmitter was the issue. I tried replacing the receiver on the sub with the new one, after luck. Then I tried the new transmitter with old receiver, after worked. After 2-3 weeks same issue. Tried different combinations, I held on to my last defective unit. Both units are being returned and I will have to run wire. The product was a bust for me however crutchfield customer service was still top notch.

Pros: Wireless, enough said. UPDATED 7/2/13: Customer Service from Crutchfield.

Cons: None so far works better than I expected. UPDATED 7/2/13: Wireless connectivity for this unit did not work for me.

Jury is still out

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I can only give this product two stars at this point as I needed to send my first product back to Crutchfield. The concept behind the SCW-100 is a great one. I want to place my Def Tech sub behind my couch that faces the TV, and running a cable across the room is not a great option. Setup initially was quite easy. However, I found that the receiver and transmitter would not stay synced up for more than about 30 minutes or so. I had the sub about 10 feet away from the receiver and in direct line of sight during my tests, so range should not be the issue. The Crutchfield team was great at helping me troubleshoot the problem (verifying that the sub wasn't turning off due to a low bass signal, unplugging wireless devices that might be interfering). In the end, they decided to have me ship the unit back in exchange for a new one. Once the new unit arrives, I'll see if the problem was just a faulty unit, or if it's really a design flaw.

Pros: Easy setup, great concept.

Cons: A bit pricey (considering I paid almost $1K for the sub, you'd think Def Tech might throw in wireless capability as an included feature). And the first unit I tried would not stay pared for very long.

Good while it lasted

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

This is a great ideal in theory, But the problem I keep running into is that I always have to reset the transmitter. While its on it works like a champ. Movies, music or just watching plain ole TV. Getting it to turn on like its supposed to hard to to. The next problem I ran into is that it just stop transmitting! I ran a sub cable to make sure it wasn't my sub and it wasn't . I call Crutchfield and they are replacing free of charge, but now I worry that this may happened again.

Pros: Great when it works

Cons: Unreliable, always have to reset unit and my 1st one stop working
