Great upgrade over my Apt/Holman preamp
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I'm so happy I chose this preamp. It has replaced my many-times repaired Apt/Holman, which I THOUGHT was an excellent sounding preamp. Everything is relative, and so I can now say that its sound is inferior to the NAD in every way. Bass is more defined. I love having a remotely controlled unit, too! When I use the stereo for TV sound, especially, being able to adjust volume remotely is a godsend, as it is for other sound sources of course. No problem here with a "tight" volume control such as I've seen mentioned on line. The blue indicator lights are difficult to see from anywhere but straight on, but that's not a huge deal. The standby light, however, is a bit obtrusive (amber, and bright). I have a moving coil cartridge (Koetsu) that plays nice with the NAD. All in all, barring a failure of some sort in the future, I'm very, very happy with this NAD.
Pros: Sound quality matches quality of my Mark Levinson amp, Koetsu Rosewood cartridge, ADS speakers. Remote control
Cons: only nitpick is status lights are hard to see at any angle. and that's really nitpicking!
