This versatile, space-saving amp provides the superior sound and excellent value NAD is known for. Use it to power music zones in your multi-room audio system, bi-amp stereo speakers, or add surround channels to your home theater system.

Handy hook-up options

With three turn-on options (front panel switch, 12V trigger control, or signal-sensing), this amp easily adapts to any type of installation. Multiple C 245BEEs can share the same input signal, giving you the capacity to configure music zones that perfectly suit your listening spaces.

It's all about sound quality

While its versatility sets it apart, the audio performance of C 245BEE is very much in line with the rest of NAD's Classic Series. The power supply features a custom toroidal transformer that minimizes noise and helps to control unwanted speaker cone movement. In the absence of background noise, the subtle details of your music emerge, enriching your listening experience.

just what the doctored ordered - added this to a NAD T 758 AV receiver to get some stereo in the dining room; we are now happy campers!!

Superb little amp!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I needed a small amp to pair with a very hi end [$$] preamp and CD. Great encounters with NAD equipment over the years led me to try the 245BEE { not a lot of choices at around 50 watts]. I'm stunned by the result. I'm using it as a stereo amp [ i.e., bridged 70 watts ]. Music material is all classical [ orchestral, chamber, opera] and the results are simply superb. Following a brief burn in time, it produces instrument timbres, resolution and sound staging that are totally captivating. Add to this the typically high standard of NAD construction and you have a unit that has to be one of the great values in today's audio market.

Pros: Could not be more pleased with the unit.

Cons: Manual could use a little work [e.g., a diagram of the bridged mode hookup would be much better than trying to explain it in words].

Great sound, very poor build; stay away!

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I purchased three of these amps to power 12 Def Technology AW 6500 outdoor speakers (all purchased from Crutchfield). Setup was easy, great that they could be daisy-chained together. Sound was excellent, VERY clean, great high-end, excellent detail, plenty of power. Just as I would expect from NAD (I also purchased NAD M25 7-channel amp from Crutchfield- amazing!). However, the honeymoon was short. Within 3 weeks one of the amps failed. Crutchfield immediately replaced. OK, all good. But wait- five months later a second amp failed. Warranty covered, but big pain. Seven months later a third amp fails. And finally the forth amp (remember, Crutchfield provided a replacement) also failed- this time smoke started pouring out the top! Still covered by warranty but get this; the two amps that are currently being repaired have been delayed because the replacement parts that NAD sent to shop are also defective! I've owned many brands of high(er)-end audio equipment over the years and have never had to bring anything in for repairs; this is pathetic. Sorry NAD, but these amps have a major quality issue- avoid at all costs. (FYI- units are in a well ventilated professional rack with 4 full-time fans, so this is not a consumer misuse issue)

Pros: Great sound (i.e., when they work!). NAD certainly does honor their warranty (sad I had to find out this way). As always, excellent service from Crutchfield!

Cons: Very bad build quality- 4 different amps failed in an 16 month period! Sound not worth the stress.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Although the C 245BEE sports the NAD label, it remains a highly dubious product. Because of its flexible output features, and because of the most user-unfriendly documentation I have come across in 50 years of toying with audio/hi-fi, I would rate this product as one to avoid like the plague. There is no way one can be certain that the instructions were followed correctly. Perhaps the adage that one picture is worth a thousand words applies here in spades!

Pros: Who knows? I can't be sure I've connected it correctly in any of the possible configurations.

Cons: Ditto...

Great Amp at a good price

AndrewM from Windsor, Ontario on 6/19/2013

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought this amp to support my Turntable. I have a Rega RP3 going into a Bellari phono pre-amp which in turn is now connected to the NAD C 245BEE. This replaced an older sony integrated amp that was pretty much dead. I currently have it powering a pair of Infinity floor speakers that I inherited from my dad. Hook up was extremely easy. Immediately as soon as we put on an album we noticed a much robust and clear sound. Mid range is excellent and it definitely has the power to full a large room. We don't ever turn the preamp over 20% of full volume. Only downside i can see is that I feel i need a more roust preamp which will allow a bit more contol of treble and bass.

Pros: easy set up powerful great sound

Cons: not really a con but need the proper supporting preamp.

Hands-on research

Product Research

Overview: The C 245BEE is a flexible 4-channel amplifier, divided into two discrete 2-channel amps in one chassis (A and B). Each side is individually bridgeable, so it can be used to power four speakers, three speakers, or two speakers.

Discrete Inputs: The A and B channels have separate inputs; both also have Loop Through outputs for connecting another amplifier. The output is identical to the corresponding input.

Auto Turn-on: The C 245BEE can be turned on automatically one of two ways; +12 volt trigger from another component or by sensing an input signal. The automatic function can also be turned off so the amp is turned on/off manually using the front panel switch.

Rear Panel:

  • Bridge Mode: switch between stereo and mono amplifier output; the A and B channels have individual mode switches
  • Power: master power switch
  • +12V/Input Sensing: choose +12 volt trigger or signal sensing to automatically turn the amp on

Rear Panel:

  • Speakers: the speaker binding posts will accept single banana plugs, pin connectors, spade lugs up to 0.45" wide, and bare wire up to 12 gauge; there are four speaker outputs, A (left and right) and B (left and right)
  • Signal Inputs: two sets of stereo RCA inputs, A channels and B channels
  • Line Outputs: two sets of stereo RCA inputs, A channels and B channels; output is identical to the corresponding input
  • 12 Volt Trigger: 3.5mm jack; turn the amp on/off along with another device that has a +12 volt trigger output
  • AC Input: 2-pole IEC power input for use with included cord (or optional upgraded cord)

Amplifier Section:

  • Continuous Power: 35 watts x 4 into an 8Ω or 4Ω load, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, no more than 0.03% THD, all channels driven simultaneously
