Advanced technology for stunning sound
The C 275BEE employs many of the same high-end features found on NAD's top-of-the-line Master Series components, including NAD's exclusive PowerDrive™ technology. This unique circuit automatically senses your speaker's impedance, then optimizes the amp's power supply settings to deliver the most dynamic power possible. This allows it to easily drive low-impedance loads, including many of today's high-end speakers, which often run closer to four ohms than eight. Plus, a patented distortion-canceling circuit in the amp's output stage ensures your music stays clean and pure.

A strong, vibration-resistant build
Along with all of its advanced technology, NAD gave the C 275BEE a big helping of good old-fashioned construction quality. This amplifier boasts a heavy-gauge steel chassis for added durability and vibration resistance. Its power supply, the heart of any amplifier, utilizes an interference-canceling toroidal transformer and heavy copper buss bars to channel enormous amounts of current to the custom gold-plated speaker binding posts. Additional premium-quality internal components — such as four pairs of discrete high-wattage output transistors per channel — allow the C 275BEE to handle prolonged high-power operation effortlessly.

I purchased this amp to replace my older NAD214. This new amp is amazing! More power than I'll ever need and clear, open sound from the lowest notes to the highest. My Monitor Audio speakers have really come to life.

Great clean sounding and looking amp

Hartmut from Chicago, IL on 4/24/2017

After 20 years of use my NAD 280THX amplifier called it quits. Since I like NAD products and also have an NAD preamp, I opted for the C 375BEE and I am very happy with it. It does not have the power of my former amp (250 vs150 W) but enough to drive my Legacy Classic HD speakers. I found it sounds cleaner and more detailed.

Pros: Bi-wire capability. Clean, detailed and open sound.

Cons: None so far.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When i read the specs i was like, ah come on; 150x2 at 0.008... no way. i called my dad up, asked him if he ever heard of such a thing. he said nope, so i ordered it up. i can't believe how clear and powerful. i hooked it up to my klipschorns and they can pick up anything, and there is nothing at max volume paired up with the preamp from NAD

Pros: clean and simple look, MASSIVE power and i trying to melt it but she just keeps throwing clean power.

Cons: ahhhhh, absolutely nothing.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I've been driving my speakers with a THX rated receiver for several years and pleased with the performance. After a serious speaker upgrade, I wondered how much better they could be with a serious amp. In a word, WOW. The difference was striking and immediate. The sound lives up to the specs. Power to spare and clean. Need a stereo amp? Look no further. This is it.

Pros: Fantastic.

Cons: None.

No Frills...Good High-Quality Power

CharlesL from Stone Mountain, GA on 11/3/2015

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Got power amp to pair with my Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A850 receiver/ drive my front Polk LSIM 707s. The additional power was what I was looking for to really bring out the best of the LSIMs. And the NAD has done just that. It had been almost 15 years since I've upgraded any of my audio components, but I feel this NAD amp will be a part of my configuration for a long time.

Pros: Easy to connect, great value, and awesome performance.

Cons: Manual only power switch.

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I recently added a NAD 275BEE to my NAD 758 to power the front Definitive 8060's. My home needs full power to fill the room. The combination of these units is flowing and incredible. The NAD's have a warmth and clarity that exceeds my expectations. The 275 is configurable to match the volume other speakers that are driven by the 758. The setup was easy, quick and works perfectly! After trying other amps, I am finally a "happy camper"!

Well Worth It!

Brent from Lakeland, FL on 4/13/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

Researched 2-3 years to replace AMP I bought in 1985 at NATO exchange Naples. Hitachi 100 watts THD .0005 driving front Klipsch Heresys {100 wt. 300 peak} & rear Klipsch RF IIs {150/600}. I use no tone control and Digital DBX, not for expansion but Impact restoration for older recordings or those that need some Bass oomph. Around 80 watts highs blurred and sounded muddled. Was suggested I obtain a more powerful amp to increase headroom and have necessary power for speakers demands. It only took 3 songs and I new the NAD had found a home. Clarity of highs at volume outstanding. The speakers can breathe so much better now. Looked hard at ROTEL, Para sound, & Vincent. Totally stoked with purchase.

Nice Moderately Priced Stereo Amp

EssDee from Frederick, MD on 2/13/2014

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

When I needed to replace my aged Adcom amp, I was dismayed to see few offerings in the $750-1500 price point in "200"W stereo amps. Lots of mortgage-breaker stereo amps and gazillions of affordable multi-channel amps. Did some research and found a couple candidates, and the NAD rose to the top. I've paired to stereo output of an Integra preamp with input from Oppo 105d player and vintage Yamaha turntable w/ Signet 112E moving coil stylus and powering Thiel 2.2 floor standing speakers. Very clear sound even when pushed hard with high quality live recordings (Ry Cooder & Corridos Famosos) and various SACD and vinyl recordings. I was amazed at low heat emission.

Pros: High quality, fairly priced, nice clean design Nice clean sound

Cons: none other than not available in silver/aluminum finish

Open Box AMP not up to it

Sorval from Davis, CA on 10/5/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I gave the product 3 stars just because of its excellent reputation. However, I bought an open box amp hoping to save a few bucks, but it never worked philosophically or physically. I bought the amp because I was starting to hear noise coming from the center channel of my 5.1 system (Integra 40.1 processor, 3 Adcom 545II amps, front channel Polk LSi 9's, rear channel Polk LSi 7's , center channel Polk LSi C, Velodyne subwoofer, and 2 Monster Power conditioners). So I was looking to replace the center channel amp with another good amp. Hence, I liked the NAD amp because the web site literature said it was bridgeable which would be perfect for a center channel application. However, when I got the amp and read the manual, it said bridging is strongly discouraged for anything lower than an 8 ohm speaker impedance do to over heating issues. All Polk speakers including the center channel are rated at 4 ohm. Not a good start. Well then, I decided to hook the amp up as my current set up, running in stereo mode with just one channel input and output to the center channel. Before any signal passed through the amp, it began clipping and its safety circuits cut all output. Put my old NAD 545 amp (bought in the 80's, a real work horse) back into the system and it worked fine, albeit, with the audible noise that had propted me to buy the NAD amp. Now NAD makes good products (that's why I bought it) so my conclusion was not be cheap and buy open box items.

NAD C 275BEE is an excellent choice

PaulS from Joliet, IL on 7/18/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I bought the NAD amp to replace my very old Phase Linear 400 which finally died. I am completely satisfied with the NAD. The amp is well built, looks great and sounds fantastic. After connecting the amp I liked the sound immediately. I noticed a huge improvement in my system's clarity and the NAD has given me a new appreciation of my stereo . I highly recommend this unit.

DanH from Hamilton, NJ on 3/28/2012

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

In the process of revamping my system I sadly found that my Denon POA-2200, that I purchased back in 1987, had gone on the fritz. I had just recently purchased the NAD C 165BEE preamp so I opted to purchase its sister amp, the NAD C 275BEE. I honestly could not be happier with this combination. I have the amp driving a pair of Klipcsh RB61 bookshelves and with this combo you would swear you were listening to a pair of 80Lb floor standing units. Crisp highs and midrange and surprisingly thunderous lows for speakers this size. Sound is clean and clear at all volumes, cd's and vinyl.

Pros: Everything, especially the price.

Cons: none

cant do better

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

useing this to power 2 JBL 880 speakers. At half volume the speakers sound like they are ready to explode. but thats what you want this kind of power will give you very clean loud power without maxing the volume. A little pricey but if you look at there high end units at over 3000 it is a real deal

Very happy with my NAD C275BEE

CW from Orlando, FL on 3/4/2010

Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)

I replaced my old Sony N80ES power amp and immediately noticed a big difference. I have it paired with an Onkyo TXNR807 AV Receiver and high quality speakers and am very happy with the result. This amp does my speakers justice. The unit is of sleek design and doesn't generate anywhere near the heat my old Sony did.

Soft Clipping: NAD's Soft Clipping circuit gently limits the output of the C 275BEE to minimize audible distortion when the amplifier is over-driven. While Soft Clipping can be left on at all times to reduce the likelihood of audible distortion from excessive volume settings, you can also turn the circuit off for critical listening if you prefer.

Bridgeable: The C 275BEE can be bridged to a single channel, more than doubling the power output. When bridged, the minimum recommended speaker impedance is 8Ω.

A/B Speaker Terminals: The amplifier features A & B speaker terminals to power two pair of loudspeakers. The amplifier supports 4Ω speakers when only one pair is connected, however, when two pair of speakers are connected a minimum impedance of 8Ω is recommended.

Input Select: A switch on the rear panel allows you to set the input to Fixed or Variable. In the fixed position the input signal is routed directly to the amplifier; typically used in single amp systems, or when multiples of the same amp are used. The variable position allows you to adjust the input level before amplification, useful when matching output levels in a multi-amp system, bi-amping speakers, or extending the volume control range of the preamp.

Auto Turn-on: The C 275BEE can be turned on automatically one of two ways; +12 volt trigger from another component or by sensing an input signal.

Rear Panel:

  • Input Select: choose Fixed or Variable (variable allows volume adjustment using the Input Level dial)
  • Input Level: rotary dial; adjusts volume to match another amplifier
  • Bridge Mode: switch between stereo and mono amplifier output
  • Soft Clipping: turn the Soft Clipping circuit on/off
  • Power: master power switch
  • +12V/Input Sensing: choose +12 volt trigger or signal sensing to automatically turn the amp on

Rear Panel:

  • Speakers: the speaker binding posts will accept single banana plugs, pin connectors, spade lugs up to 0.625" wide, and bare wire up to 10 gauge; there are four speaker outputs, A (left and right) and B (left and right); when powering two pair of speakers a minimum impedance of 8Ω is recommended
  • Signal Input: stereo RCA input jacks
  • 12 Volt Trigger: turn the amp on/off along with another device that has a +12 volt trigger output
  • AC Input: 2-pole IEC power input for use with included cord (or optional upgraded cord)

Amplifier Section:

  • Continuous Power: 150 watts x 2 into an 8Ω or 4Ω load, 20 Hz - 20 kHz, no more than 0.008% THD, both channels driven simultaneously

  • Dynamic Power:
    • 8Ω: 250 watts x 2
    • 4Ω: 410 watts x 2

1 question already asked

Sounds like you're describing a bi-amped connection. You'll need to use a preamp out from the receiver as a line level input to the 275BEE. You can achieve a bi-amped configuration with these components, BUT because they have different amplifiers and very likely with a different gain, you may end up with one section of the speaker increasing volume faster than the other. I think the only foolproof way to bi-amp is to use identical amps on both sets of posts. [ JEFF P  Aug 10, 2016 ]
