Outstanding balance and refinement.
Crutchfield Customer Review (What's this?)
I asked Crutchfield advisors to suggest a headphone that had the accuracy and open soundstage of the Grado SR325e, and the comfort and isolation of the Sony MDR-1A. The P7 was their recommendation, and ... wow. The first thing I listened to was Dire Straits' Brothers In Arms, and it actually made me weepy. Just beautiful -- slightly warm, very balanced and refined; more muted high end than the Grados, but with a gorgeous soundstage and intimate midrange presence and detail. And luxurious fit! A little snug at first, but it's easy to flex the metal headband a bit to fix that. They're neither as brutally revealing as the SR325e, nor as airy-feeling on my head as the MDR-1A. But you know what? After the first half hour, I'd almost forgotten I was wearing them, and was lost in the music. THAT is what good equipment should do: disappear. Definite winner.
Pros: Wonderful soundstage, accurate midrange. controlled bass, very comfortable. Easy to listen to for hours.
Cons: Somewhat less high end presence than I'd like. Earcups barely big enough; larger ears might not be happy.
